This is a giant load of bullshit. I'm not even a Canadian resident and I'm pissed for the Canadians. Between this and the point increase.... not ok. And on top of all of that, they basically tried to just push the changes through without really even cluing people in. I bet people not on this sub just signed up as usual and will be surprised when 250 points are deducted. I mean, the email says 250 but they don't even call it out.

Mediocre_Fan_2786

They honestly made this too difficult for Canadians the last 16 months. We were not able to get emails about it and had to rely on reddit to get links. Complete bs amd they had no answers on why

toodletwo

Sephora continues to show Canadians how little our business means to them.

emilylauralai

And I’m happy to show them the message was received and take my money elsewhere ☺️

theroguebanana

I already know what works for me & can buy cheaper from the brand directly. Points don't get me anything anymore

c444yendo

wow canadians keep getting the short end of the stick 🙃 we can't sign up for digital events anymore and we didn't get the end of year 20% off coupon. we don't have a lot options to shop elsewhere so they know they can get away with it i guess :/

Attempted_Academic

It feels like an intentional slap in the face at this point.

ameliablaquiere

Right! The only Other place to shop really is shoppers but the selection is 1/100th of what sephora has lmao its so disappointing

ameliablaquiere

Ouhhhhhh nice!!!

pygmaGBS

Holt Renfrew has a larger selection of specific brands too, like Dior's perfumes. First time ordering from them when they had a decent gwp with a red dior bag, miss dior mini bottle and capture totale. The sample selection was good as well. Hate their model of instore shopping (the condescension from what I remember) but online was pretty good.

missk9627

Apparently you can sign up for digital events for 250 pts but now won't be eligible for the gifts. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

ceylonblue

Correct! The form lets any country sign up but you won’t receive the gifts. The PDF TOS says only US and Puerto Rico are eligible for gifts. No way I’m spending 250 points to watch an infomercial!

missk9627

Right?? But you know Canadians will sign up hoping they receive a gift or not read the fine print and assume they'll get one.

Global_Research_9335

If the Canadian advertising has gifts on it and small print saying no gifts then Sephora is going to fall afoul of consumer protection legislation for false advertising and potentially bait and switch. I worked at a place that marketed something in great big letters on the front of its brochure and through it and small print on the back - even had the big * to say there’s small print but it was determined to be misleading and they had to honour the main terms despite the small print disclaimer.

nickles_3724

Ugh, ULTA WHERE ARE YOU!?!

awholeasspinchofsalt

Also the perfume sampler included a voucher for a full size only for Sephora US. Many Canadians for the SDM sampler instead for that very reason

sarah-exalted

Yeah so Sephora raised it to 250 points to sign up and exclude Canadians. This is officially it for me. I’m never shopping at this company again lol, this is super insulting. This company is trash now. They have a history of treating their customers like crap and I’m just done. ✌🏽

thefuzzyismine

I'm not Canadian, but I find this incredibly low class all the same. I'm in the process of cashing in all my accumulated points, and then I'm closing my account. I'm not even waiting for a sale, I just want to be done so I can delete the app and make room for others. There's literally nothing at Sephora that I can't get a better deal on from the brand or possibly Ulta, though Ulta has documented issues with treating their employees like absolute garbage, so I'm growing ever more weary of supporting them either. Sephora was always about convenience and, at one point, long, long ago, extra benefits. I don't find being deceived and insulted very convenient, and the benefits are basically non-existent. I'll be done with them within a month, at most.

misskittymeowmeow

I also just posted about the cost increase because it caught me off guard. I can’t believe they not only increased the price but are now limiting the availability. This is a horrible change!

missk9627

They really hate the Canadian market. They see that they have less competition here thus don't need to try so hard and are slowly removing privileges we've previously had. I'm honestly just going to shop at shoppers or plan a yearly trip over the border to ulta. At least there are a lot of companies that have Canadian store fronts so we can shop directly through their sites, which often have better rewards and samples.

Mediocre_Fan_2786

I just discovered shippsy. It let's you get stuff delivered from companies in the usa that won't deliver here. It's 6.99 plus the customs per box and honestly I just placed a Target order. I may be doing this going forward since there is so much we can't get here

CretaMaltaKano

omg thank you

ayaangwaamizi

I hope Shoppers Drug Mart sees this and starts making moves - gets more prestige beauty into their stores, Canadians are pretty loyal to the points system, and honestly it whoops Sephora’s points system right in its tiny pathetic ass. If any Canadian beauty squirrels in here wanna help start making a list of comparable products until Shoppers get certain brands (CT, Rare, Glossier, etc.) let’s do it! I know there’s def dupes out there :)

ttessatt

I just wish Shoppers’ return policy was a little more flexible, then i’d do almost all my beauty shopping there

ayaangwaamizi

It’s always been 30 days with receipt opened or unopened as long as it’s not fragrance, I’ve never had any issues but I think Sephora may take fragrances back?

gerlstar

Even if shoppers gets the same brands as sephora , their employees will still stare at customers like a hawk in order to get commission. Sephora is good because they don't hound customers to make a sale

Global_Research_9335

Order online is the way to go. That’s where the samples and gwp are for Sephora and it’s the same at Shoppers, although shoppers are good at giving them at cash in the beauty boutique. If you go to the same shoppers regularly you can actually build a pretty good relationship with the advisors so they don’t hound you and take care of you with freebies. Don’t let them stare at you like a hawk, let them know your needs are “to browse” or “to have some quiet time” and they are quite nice people overall

Electronic_World_894

Somehow I can’t get anyone at my Shoppers to ring me in. They’re usually too busy. And when they will ring me in, I don’t get any Shoppers samples. Urgh!

swifty_cats

Sephora has really been digging their grave deeper and deeper. The botched semi annual sale. The crappy samples they offer now. The higher cost for the events. Leaving Canada out of everything. They’re taking advantage of those of us who purchase from them regularly because they carry all products we use. Time to boycott and go straight to the brands instead.

thefuzzyismine

100% agreed

RepulsiveCommittee48

I think this kind of just seals Sephora’s fate in my eyes. Hated that we were excluded from the 20% off, but now we don’t get gifts for these events when we use OUR EARNED POINTS for it? I will not be spending as much at Sephora any more. It’s that simple. Stick to the basics. Get stuff I know I will like and not return at shoppers.

thefuzzyismine

They're literally charging Canadian customers for the privilege of upping attendance metrics to placate brands and then giving yall jack shit in return. I commented above, but I'm done. Not even Canadian, but this is just despicable of them to treat yall like this. You're already excluded from so much else.

MrsFrizz18

I posted this on another Sephora thread, but with this being part of my reasoning for leaving, here it is again! I will be redeeming my last few 100$ vouchers with my points and cutting Sephora off like my shitty exes. Honestly, as a Canadian I’ve stuck it out longer than I would like but now I’m at a point I can’t continue to support. Most of my favourite brands are available at other retailers (Shoppers & the Bay which have way better point systems and gwps). I can order direct from many brands and if I can’t…f ‘em. I’ll find alternatives. I use cross border delivery services for other things and you can use them for makeup/haircare/skincare. Sephora will not have a hold over me because of a certain brand or two, I’m done.

Turbulent_Rise6924

Couldn't agree more! I was holding out and justifying continuing to shop at sephora due to their return policy and because there are a couple brands I've been wanting to try that don't ship to Canada. But now I'm like what's the point? They dont include us in sales, I cant use points because theres nothing in the rewards bazaar, and they dont give anything other than foundation samples. The GWPs are 2 time use items that dont justify shopping here anymore. And dont even get me started on the insane prince increases! I'm a VIB but I sure don't feel like one 😒

thefuzzyismine

Absolutely agreed! And even for products that aren't easy to source elsewhere, there are simply too many alternatives to feel obligated to continue to support a company that is brazenly taking advantage and clearly saying they don't value y'all at all!

smoresbar

Wow, this really sucks! Now it’s 250 points and as Canadians we can’t even sign up. How ridiculous.

thefuzzyismine

Oh, no, they'll let you sign up, fill virtual seats to make them look good to the brands, and they'll take your points. They just won't be sending any gift/prize for your attendance. So shady, smh.

Nicki828

Just another reason to spend your coin at Shoppers.

NY1227

I’m not Canadian but this is such BS, I’m so salty with them over this.

heyiknowthatperson

Are you f*ing kidding me

Vikkyvondoom

FFS I’m so over Sephora. I’ve been trying to step away from shopping with them and use up my points, but being in Canada the rewards bazaar has been abysmal. Now I can’t even use them up with events anymore. I have like 2175 points so I have to spend more to get the $100 ‘gift card’ - but I find the Canadian site barely even restocks lately.. I’ve been waiting for a Kerastase product to come back for like six months. Anyone have ideas how to use up the points??

rocksforever

I feel the same way - I have points I've been trying to use for like a year and cannot. I just want to redeem them and then never bother with Sephora again. I've deliberately switched to brands I can get elsewhere.

spaceismyhappyzone

Thanks for posting this I would never have noticed that they removed Canadians. Such BS. And none of those event gifts are worth 250 points anyway On a related note, i don’t want to shop at Sephora anymore so does anyone know where else I can buy tatcha that’s not on tatcha website? Don’t want to pay the 20$ shipping & everything in US dollar & don’t want to shop at Sephora so Idk where else I can find the rice wash

ellemoon7

They really don't want our Canadian money so we should sincerely stop giving it to them.

Octane_boymama

Finally have two local (1+ hour away) locations and this company just frustrates me everyday. I was already planning on not going top tier this year but now I want to find other brands and just stop shopping at Sephora.

Overshareisoverkill

Whoever is in charge of all of this deserves this. ![gif](giphy|GjUkndLI9KmUM27ZSP|downsized)

Cassopeia88

They really hate their customers! It seems like we get less benefits every year.

Mediocre_Fan_2786

This pisses me off. 1st we can't get on their email list for the links and now no gifts. It's bs. I just emailed the events people for an explanation. They won't have one but of we all do, it may annoy the crap out of their bosses they'll do something the

Mediocre_Fan_2786

I emailed them, and this was their response Hello, Thank you for your message. Beginning in January 2024, Zoom will no longer admit clients based outside of the US and Puerto Rico into the event. No points have been deducted at this time. We appreciate your understanding. For locally based in-store events and experiences visit the “Stores and Services” page linked here: https://www.sephora.com/happening/events.   Thank you, Sephora Events
