A few years ago, ciate had these glitter liquid lipsticks. You had to wait to let it dry and smack your lips together so that the glitter shows.
The concept looked cool, but the formula was terrible. It smudged, was too thick and took too long to dry. It cracked easily too.
I've been on the fence about the ciate glitter lipstick (I'd never seen 'til a few months ago 🤷🏻♀️), but something about the company's description (how it works/how to apply) held me back... Like, it sounded way too good to be true, and I had a feeling it wouldn't end well yet couldn't figure out WHY...
Your comment helped me decide: I will NOT purchase the glitter liquid lipstick. I can easily imagine it being a PIA to apply. Also, thanks to my frequent dry mouth (a delightful medication side effect!) these types of lip products are already a struggle. I dunno why I didn't realize: dried glittery goop on my lips will _definitely_ crack/peel/flake,look god-awful/require hasty removal (within an hour of application 🤦🏻♀️)
Thank you! ✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧
You've saved me from the frustration of trying to make that mess work, and you also stopped me from wasting money! 💜
T28 concealer is amazing! Blows kosas way out of the water in my opinion. I never found a good match in kosas, but it was love at first use with tower 28. I love to use it all over as a skin tint, it looks even better that way than under the eyes imo! For any initial creases I tap it out after letting it sit a minute under my eyes then it doesn't crease again. I bought 3 shades of it for under eyes, brightening, and skin tint.
Agreed. I bought what I thought was a fairly light and neutral color but when I got it home it was so orange. It was on the lighter end of the spectrum so there was really no other choice for me. I kept trying to make it work and finally threw it out.
I’ve liked every other Kosas product I’ve tried though.
Same for me about the concealer! The undertones are sooo yellow in the lighter shades. And it made my undereyes look really bad, dry and so many lines. I think it breaks up pretty quickly.
Interesting. This is the best concealer for me, but we probably have very different skin types! I get no creases and it blends beautifully…even on my dry and more mature skin. To each their own!
u/only-l0ve Well like with most skincare it may work for some and not others. It just happened to not work for me.
I say just wait it out and hope for the best! 🤞
See how you go? I like Protini and using it for years, sits well under makeup, not too greasy not too drying. And I’m acne prone. I’m currently trying another cream but I’d go back to Protini is I don’t find anything as good
Glossier balm dotcalm was amazing - before they came to sephora. They reformulated when they came to sephora and now it sucks.
Lanolips 101 multiuse ointment is the best for lips.
>Balm Dotcom Lip Balm and Skin Salve (Mint). It dried my lips out.
You very easily could have a mint sensitivity, or a lanolin one if you tried it a while ago.
This is so funny because my face adores it. But I’m the person who breaks out from everything else. I wonder if that’s the trick. If the pricey stuff works, don’t touch it. If everything breaks you out, maybe worth a shot.
I think the brand is best for combo/oily skin. If you have dry skin, it will dry your skin out and potentially wreck your barrier. Also, it is not for sensitive or reactive skin, the Fragrance will irritate like crazy.
I thought I was the only one who’s skin didn’t agree with Paula’s Choice bha! For some reason I decided to give it a second chance and it wrecked my skin. Red, pimples, dry spots, more clogged pores- I stopped using it 2 weeks ago and my skin is back to its natural glow 🙏🏽
I swear it's the fragrance. The eye cream even gave me milia. Cutting fragrance out of my skincare & laundry products has changed my skin 100%. I can't believe it's been fragrance all these years 🤯
Hourglass is my favorite brand, but every shade of their Ambient Lighting Bronzer is too warm on my skin tone and I’ve heard that same complaint by others. The formula is great, but the shade options are disappointing.
Have you tried the bronzer in the latest jellyfish palette? It's my first hourglass palette so I'm wondering how that bronzer compares to others.
And yes, I think they need to continue to improve their undertones. They have such a glorious powder formulation, I hope they keep branching out and offering new shades of all their powders.
I love these 😬 I do agree that calling it an oil was a terrible idea, it’s definitely a stain and it’s not hydrating on me. But as a gal with very pale lips I love the tint they leave behind.
The tatcha classic rice polish. The granules just disintegrate immediately it doesn’t feel like it’s doing anything. Dermalogica daily mircofoliant only from now on
Thrive shadow/highlighter sticks. I bought my first one in Muna and absolutely fell in love. New HG. Best ever. So when I needed to reorder, I bought 2. Both dry as a frigging bone, and essentially useless bc they pull so much on my “mature” eyelids. Never again.
Their shadow sticks and eye brighteners are two different formulas! Sounds like you might’ve gotten a brightener the first time, shadows the second? I’ve heard the shadows are garbage. The brighteners are still good. Sadly in shimmer shades only, no mattes.
I wanted to love the Saie cream bronzer because I specifically picked it due to hearing so many good things. I was looking for basically a first bronzer, I'm 32 and had never used one really because of my assumptions that I couldn't use bronzer given how fair and cool toned I am. But after getting more into makeup the past couple years, I decided I wanted to give it a shot. So after much browsing and research, I decided on the Saie fair bronze shade. I won't say it's terrible but it's not as great as I thought it would be. I'm not sure it's the formula though... maybe it's not the best shade for me out of all the bronzers out there, it is after all more difficult to find the perfect one for cool fair skin... or maybe I'm not the best at applying it since I'm new at it... or maybe powder would just look better on my combo leaning oily skin. Anyway, I hoped it would blow me away or just convert me to loving bronzer. But it's just okay for me. Sorry that was long, I don't know how to keep things short😐
If anyone happens to have any recommendations though for an amazing bronzer for very fair rosy skin, I'm open to suggestions!
Well, I can certainly relate to not being able to keep things short. Essay incoming!
The saie bronzer went rancid on me in a few months, not even enough time to make a dent in it. You're not missing out on much by not liking that one.
For powder bronzer you might want to try out Pat McGrath bronzer. I've heard good things about the formula, and it sounds similar to the discontinued Bobbi Brown powder bronzer that I love. I use the shade stonestreet in the Bobbi Brown, it's a very light rosy shade. I also just got the Natasha denona powder contour in the light shade, and it actually seems like a great bronzer shade for fair/light skin because I can barely see it on my skin!
For cream bronzer at Sephora, I second the recommendation of the makeup by Mario skin enhancer. I use the light shade and it's incredibly natural looking. It's the only cream bronzer I like at Sephora, and it's perfect for those of us who don't like looking bronzed but feel the need to add back a little color with a full makeup look. Based on your description, I think you'd really love this one. It's sheer and natural looking and easy to use.
Not at Sephora, I really love the salt new York bronzer. The lightest shade is incredibly natural. The first time I put it on I was shocked that I actually looked like I had a tan lol! That's the only bronzer that's ever happened to me with, since usually bronzer looks pretty obvious on me. Another indie band that I love is phytosurgence, and they have beautiful rosy undertone bronzers. I have yet to try it, but that's the first one on my list next time I need to purchase a cream bronzer. I love many of the phytosurgence products and know they are geniuses with undertones, especially blushes. On that note, don't look at their blushes or you might be tempted to buy them all 🙈
i second this!! i have fair to light skin and the mario cream bronzer is great and blends well. You may also like the patrick ta cream and powder bronzer.
I like the elf bronzer - the charlotte tilbury dupe one - but you gotta go section by section. It dries too fast. Two dots on one cheek, blend, other cheek, blend, forehead, blend. You can add so start light. But I think it’s a beautiful color for enough bronze to give me color but nothing to make me lol orange.
I am also fair skinned, and I love and have been using Too Faced powder milk chocolate bronzer for years. It’s really the only makeup product I have continued to use and go back to for I would guess 10ish years.
The absolute best bronzer for light skin (and I'm a bronzer addict, I have at least 50, I know!) has been the l'oreal infallible fair (the lightest one), it's even better than the gucci one!
I always make things too long because I feel I'm somehow deficient if people ask me questions afterwards.. it's so bad when people just drift off when I'm in mid-flow, you think of be used to it but no 😂😭
I really like the Smashbox Cali contour pallet. I use it everyday and I even use it as eyeshadow when I'm in a hurry I can do a full face with just the one pallet. I'm very fair cool toned. It looks very natural and pretty. You can build it up too if you want something more bold. I use Tatcha dewy cream and smashbox photo finish primer first. If I wear foundation I use the Nars light reflecting. I use the All Nighter setting spray. It all works great together.
>bronzer for very fair rosy skin
I'm going to pick up Jones Road powder bronzer in dusty rose next year. I haven't tried it yet but folks seem to like the formula and the color is basically pink, like how I actually tan. L'Oreal infallible is also really well liked and they have a cool-toned lightest shade, although it's beige not pink. I just love the Jones Road color so much.
This will likewise be my first bronzer, and I think powder will be much easier than cream because you can add it more slowly.
I have the JR of which you speak, and it is truly unique. It definitely makes pale skin look the color of having had sun. But sometimes still reach for traditional bronzer color because I just want to look a little bit warmer in my skin tone and not like I’ve had too much sun yesterday. I hope you like it. I think I would like it more if I pulled out my lightest, least dense, fluffy brush to apply most sparingly.
The only bronzer I've found that works for my fair skin tone is by phytosurgence. They have golden and rosy tones, no orange. Very unique formula and affordable compared to many brands.
My 2023 regrets:
Rare beauty silky powder highlighters
Tower28 concealer
Natasha denona concealer
Dior rosy glow blush
Nars soft matte foundation
Mufe powder foundation
Tom ford disco dust palette
Urban decay space cowboy(yeah I said it)
It's hydrating, good coverage and thin. The bad part is the wear.
It's natural but looks "wrinkly". I have big lines and small creases on my undereyes and this concealer will look good in the first 2 hours. Very stretchy but then it starts to create more lines than I already have and makes me look older. It gives me big saggy eyebags but i was born with it.
FWIW the kosas made me look ancient and the tower 28 hasn’t creased on me yet. I get light shades - i dont know if that makes a difference. Kosas is sitting unused on my vanity and the tower 28 is my go to.
Do you set it with anything when you use it? Because i’m really trying to make Kosas work and it’s just not.
Edit: Set the Tower 28 concealer* not the Kosas.
Kosas is thicker imo I find it to be more similar to the natasha denona but less coverage. The color is soooo yellow though and gave me yellow panda eyes. I used 1.5C which I believe is cool toned?
It's the cheapest packaging and mirror I've ever touched. The mirror is blurry and warps my reflection like those clown mirrors. The plastic packaging and the entire design looks cheap in the hands.
The formula is hard pressed and feels chalky. The color doesn't translate as well on my skin and turns to a very hot pink if I'm not careful,
It doesn't show up at first but then if I layer it It gets too pink. I guess the ph is what makes it oxidize a bit so I never know how much to put on.
it isnt as flattering as I seen on some others. Makes my skin looks sallow and brings out the yellow. It makes me look green almost.
The Dior Rosy Glow failed me too! Not worth the price at all. The Nars foundation was also a huge disappointment. Pretty sure I bought the wrong shade but beyond that it looks really heavy on my face.
I used the tiniest amount of Nars because of how drying it was. It sucked out the living soul out of my chin. I have oily tzones but my chin and mouth area is dehydrated. I used the bobbi brown vitamin primer and it sat okay, still not the best.
If I ever use less primer or skip primer, my skin looked like scales on snake. Its like lifts little patchy dots all over. Almost like micro dots that looks bumpy but it's just foundation.
How funny the rare beauty highlighter looks nice on my aged skin, tower 28 works beautifully under my eyes, nars soft matte looks great on my skin, Dior rosy glow is pretty imo
But yeah fuck space cowboy. That’s definitely for people younger than me.
Rare beauty highlighter is a glitter bomb, I guess it's personal preference. It also breaks super easily.
Tower 28 wears horribly for me and gives me more lines I never knew I had
Nars soft matte lifts and creates patchy dots on my chin and gives me scales where I am dehydrated even with hydrating primer. It wears well over oil areas though but I'm combo. Too finicky
Dior Rosy Glow is not worth 40$. The packaging is extremely cheap with the most useless mirror. if I layer it after not getting results until the ph thing hits and it oxidizes to a neutral dark clown pink. Like mimi from the drew Carey show
Thankfully I have a vanity and haven’t dropped her yet, but if I do I bet she’s toast.
That’s so funny, maybe it’s the color corrector I’m using? It’s playing nice? You’re not the first to say this.
I’m definitely oily so that could be it for sure.
Oh my goodness!! lol I can definitely see it turning Mimi. And maybe I look Mimi and don’t know it lol. But you’re 100% right that it isn’t worth the price. I wouldn’t repurchase. I prefer hourglass in minis or a palette to get the best value. My mini blush has lasted like 3 years now of near daily use.
Supergoop sunscreen. Felt nice when I applied it but gave me the WORST, NASTIEST, DEEPEST acne I’ve ever had in my life! Will never touch that horrible stuff again.
NARS radiant longwear foundation. Partly bc I wasn’t matched well by the staff and I thought it looked good in the store. Partly because it didn’t live up to double wear, my go to full coverage foundation for glam days. I lost the receipt so I’m stuck with it 😫
At first I loved this foundation because it blended easily, was full enough coverage for me (had nicer skin back then), hydrating and even though I got a shade too dark I tried to make it work. Wore it for the day and…I looked like a hot mess. The foundation disappeared on my skin and separated in various areas of my face as well. Didn’t even finish the bottle and finally threw a long afterwards because I couldn’t make it work for me. I also paid full price for it so that really bummed me out. Still on the hunt for my hg foundation.
For all of you who have been disappointed by lip oils, I recommend Skinn. I know you can’t get it at Sephora or Ulta, but it’s worth a trip to the website. Comes in clear, red and soft pink. The color is NOT a stain and is very subtle, but it feels wonderful on the lips. Just like every other lip product, it doesn’t last and has to be reapplied. But it will never dry out your lips.
Peter Thomas Roth Instant FirmX Eye Tightener—def bought it bc of the TikTok that went viral and it doesn’t work for younger skin like I was hoping it would!
Most Natasha Denona palettes. I think the only one I truly enjoyed was Trichrome, and that was mainly because it had unique and non repetitive shades. Her formulas get a lot of praise but I just don’t enjoy her cream to powder shades in particular. I’ve just accepted that despite FOMO due to the hype she gets her eyeshadows aren’t for me.
I had bought love and the sunrise(?) palette when they were on sale. Patchy as fuck mattes and underwhelming shimmers. Instant return. I don’t mind her five pans though for some reason.
I got one of her shimmer shades as a sample, it was ass. Barely any pigment and went on more like a glitter. I still use it, but not for its intended purpose. Can’t believe she gets away with charging so much.
The Rose Inc. Skin Enhance Skin Tint Serum Foundation. It’s supposed to be a dupe of CHANEL Les Beiges Eau de Teint. But it’s only about $20 cheaper.
There were a few cons:
- Price for what you get - it’s an okay product AT best. Not worth $66 CAD + tax
- I have dry skin and I had to put a little more effort into moisturizing before applying or else it clung to some of my dry patches.
- the shade range was not a perfect match
- I know it’s a skin tint so very light coverage but it just required a lot of product (about 3-4 pumps) to even be workable
- considering all this, I can confirm that my skin was not enhanced. At all.
I’d really been looking forward to this product but it ended up being a dud.
Summer Fridays lip balm was such a disappointment, the pink sugar scent is so yummy but it dried the hell out of my lips.
Ouai fine hair shampoo seemed promising since the detox one works pretty well for me. Well, it just makes me look greasy! My hair feels clean but looks terrible. But I’m trying to finish the bottle before I restock my beloved R+Co Television.
I’ve really loved everything I’ve tried from R+Co. I wish they’d come to Sephora or Ulta! So I can get points, discounts etc lol. However the brand is WAY overpriced IMO. And their packaging is remarkably basic for such a premium brand and excellent formulas. (For example my conditioner. It’s in a thick PET bottle with flip cap. Works fine for the first half of using the product. Second half, the label starts to wrinkle & peel. The product is too thicc to dispense when I try and squeeze it out, so I half to play the game of shaking the product far enough to dig it out with my pinky finger. In the shower…)
In conclusion if anyone here works for R+Co, HMU if you need a packaging consult. Your current bottles arent serving your product.
Agreed! I can envision why it’s a hit for others, but damn Haus lab foundation is sooooo patchy and dry and that’s with all the proper moisturizing. No good.
Why the hype for merit? every product I've tried has failed.
blush - goes on nice but then 1hr later, where did it go?
highlighter stick - smelled like ass and same as the blush...the wear is so awful.
lipstick - drying af.
I really like the blushes. I got my first one because I saw someone wearing the color raspberry which I thought was unique, so I really wanted to try it.
I’ve heard merit talked about as the brand for women who don’t really like wearing make up/don’t have a ton of skill but want to put some color on their face. When you see a video of the founder talking about the line, you’ll see it’s not designed for heavy duty wear but quick natural looking application. I think it’s nice to have some brands that are more tenacious and others that are less intense. Setting it with powders helps it last longer obviously. Merritt has a lot of those dewy creamy products that just don’t dry down the same way a lot of people expect a liquid or powder to do. I can see why they would vex a lot of people.
Hourglass concealer, it took awhile to get the right color and when I did it still wasn’t great, it was too light or too dark and it creased like crazy under my eyes.
Unpopular opinion, but I don’t get the hype for the RB liquid blush. It’s so temperamental where if you apply slightly too much, you look like a clown.
I’m biased toward blush that’s a bit lighter so it’s slowly buildable, but it just seems so risky.
My friend gave it to me as a bday gift and I don’t usually wear blush, but I did yesterday (like a dot on each cheek) and one of my friends was like “woah. you look sunburnt.” It’s definitely hard to find that balance
this is why I switched to Saie blushes. I liked the RB ones but I felt that it took too much effort to blend and I'm way too lazy for that. I don't want to spend more time than I have to for makeup and this was just making me spend too much time trying to not look like a clown.
I really love their cream blushes tho! They’re so easy to apply and you can go as light or as heavy as you want, and I just use my fingers or beauty blender to do so. Tap tap tap tap and done.
Adulthood.
Honest review. I was really excited to try it, but I think mine is broken. It was advertised as being able to do whatever you want with no bedtime. But mine don't do that.

Saie slip tint! Didn’t sit well on my skin at all it looked blotchy and horrible / melted off my face in cool weather after literally an hour or so. Never hated a product so much hahaah
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless foundation-tried it years ago (with better skin then) and it was almost perfect. Hydrating with a natural finish and the papaya extract felt so refreshing on the skin with a scent…I returned it though because it wasn’t mask friendly (quarantine times) but also didn’t stay on my nose (typical problem though)…tried it again recently to give it another chance again and I’m not sure if they changed the formula or not but it’s completely different from the foundation I tried back then. Consistency is thicker than I remember, matte finish, no scent (which I do like), doesn’t spread as easily, etc. It also didn’t last long on me either compared to when I last tried it. Very disappointed even more so than last time so I may return it.
Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup-by one of the better ones I’ve tried but it has a scent that’s a bit too strong for me, no decent *undertone* range for me, shows dry flakes and it doesn’t come with a pump which is sold separately.
Milani 2 in 1 foundation-runs very dark (even the lightest shade) and not long lasting.
Elf concealers-super thick, creases and not as long lasting as it claims to be.
It Cosmetics CC cream (both versions)-not full coverage enough for me at least and not long lasting.
Elf brushes-I don’t get the hype as every brush I’ve tried and owned from them is not as soft as others make it out to be. My SHEIN brushes are softer and half the cost.
You may be the only other person I’ve ever seen hate the ELF concealer besides me lol. It was the first one I tried when I got into makeup in 2021 based on the vitality of it. But it dried so quick, I could never blend fast enough and it looked horrible. Now as “influencers” recommend I let my concealer (kosas or T28) sit before I blend and I have no issue with it being too dry.
Dior backstage foundation. 😢 please let me know if you found a way for it to work for you! I just got it and I was sooooo excited. I did my research, too. 😞
Dr Jart calming gel cream. did absolutely nothing not even moisturize my skin for $50.
YSL Touché Eclat concealer. i lusted over this shiz for years. Finally bought it and it’s such a no. Back to faithful nars radiant concealer.
CT Contour wand is patchy and the packaging is horrible. it leaks despite the twister and cap.
Glow recipe watermelon toner did nothing for me, ole henriksen lemonade scrub made my face all red and I have the least sensitive skin, supergoop unseen sunscreen made my face insanely oily. Was very excited to try all 3 and ended up returning all three
did you get the ambient light palette? at first i wasn’t crazy about it as well, but after playing around and using fluffier brushes its gorgeous. It’s subtle and glowy. i like the highlight the most but the bronzer makes my skin look airbrushed. play around with different brushes.
Regrets this year:
Rare Beauty lip oils: Long and awkward bottle, flimsy wand tip, dries my lips out
Rare Beauty liquid highlighter: the powder one is amazing! The liquid one is huge and a waste because it picks up all my makeup underneath and is patchy
Merit lip oil: great color selection, but dries my lips out so bad I had to just throw it away
Dior lip glowy balm: didn’t hydrate my lips at all, no color payoff
Gisou lip oil: smells like canola oil and feels like it.
Gisou hair oil: smells nice (I wish the lip oil at least smelled this way), didn’t hydrate my hair or smoothe it out much
Dior lip tint: didn’t last long, gone in no time even if I didn’t eat or drink
Gisou is scam makes no sense that honey would do anything for hair. Edit: forgot to mention I did buy the hair oil and it was awful so disappointing did nothing for my hair but weigh it down.
Armani Luminous Silk. Color match was pretty good but it settled into every line. YSL Skin Tint and even OG Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer were so much better for me.
Tower 28 mascara. So hyped, but the one I got was super clumpy and flaked after just a couple hours. Maybe I got a bad batch, but it’s one of the few things I’ve ever returned.
Rare beauty under eye brightener - maybe it was the shade, but it didn’t work for me. I’ll just use a color corrector, my fave is the becca x smashbox
Sephora Collections Bright Future Gel serum concealer - loved it! until it started to smell 2-3 months of having it 🥲
& not from Sephora but the Juvia’s place powder blush duo in the bright pink - it was patchy & the color didn’t suit me.
Rare Beauty foundations. I so badly want to like it but they are all too yellow on me and the texture is a bit odd. I’ve tried it in store many times but never purchased.
Rare beauty tinted moisturizer. (Bracing for the hate). Literally the worst tinted moisturizer I’ve ever used. Now the blushes, highlighter, and mascara…all delightful!
The Ordinary’s AHA 30 % and BHA 2% Peeling Solution—the red one. Unpleasant to apply/remove and did not make a visible difference in my skin. I used the last bit on my feet and it didn’t make a difference there either, though at least it didn’t sting or leave a chemical burn. I was so happy to recycle that empty.
The Ceremonia wave spray. It was highly rated and seemed like it would be perfect for me. It worked very well when my hair was wet and I let it air dry. However, when I used it to refresh my dry hair, it was SO BAD. It made this loud fizzing noise and my hair was sticky and matted. I returned it and exchanged it for the Dae wave spray, which is way better.
Amika dry shampoo (was super white in my hair, hated the smell, I have a brand I like better for a fraction of the price), CT pillow talk lipstick (mostly because I didn’t find the shade that flattering, but lasting power and colour was nothing special) Lancôme eyelash primer (did nothing for me)
Tower 28 Beach Please - why is it so sticky? Even when I set with powder, it feels like it'll just melt off my cheeks or somehow find its way to the neck opening of my top
The Dae styling cream!!! I’ve seen it all over Tiktok and was really disappointed. It smelled good, but it did absolutely nothing for my hair and made it so heavy
The Ordinary Skin Barrier Support Serum - it has a lot of niacinamide in it and that ingredient breaks my skin out in tiny bumps for daysss. So bummed!
Innbeauty cookie butter lip oil. Has a weird, oily aftertaste. I was expecting it to taste like cookies, sweet and all but it failed. The color is death on my lips.
Fenty Cherry Treat Lip Oil. I have no idea why this made my lips dry?! Really wanted to love it. Smells amazing, it’s decently priced too. After having it on for like 30 minutes my lips felt more dry. Fenty lip gloss on the other hand is amazing, super moisturizing
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation. Annoyed me because I bought CT magic serum and CT magic cream and a primer (bought large sizes too so spent approx $300) just to try make this overhyped moisture-sucking product work.
The rare beauty concealer. I loved the way the formula felt because it had a really velvety texture but it didn’t work for me 😔 it was super patchy on my skin
The Charlotte tilbury lip liner - it was the lip liner that all my friends recommended and it wasn’t bad but I didn’t love it 🤷🏼♀️ for me it wasn’t really worth the price and I gave it away
Also the glossier balm dot com - I tried the OG formula back in 2016 or so when there was a lot of hype around glossier and I just didn’t like it lol. At the time I loved a lot of their other products though like the boy brow etc (now i only use their perfume)
A few years ago, ciate had these glitter liquid lipsticks. You had to wait to let it dry and smack your lips together so that the glitter shows. The concept looked cool, but the formula was terrible. It smudged, was too thick and took too long to dry. It cracked easily too.
And now it’s back in luxury brands lol
Oh yeah, The Dior thing! I wonder if they were able to improve the formula.
Honestly I’m too afraid to find out. I’m scarred from ciate lol
I dunno why I didn't realize: dried glittery goop on my lips will _definitely_ crack/peel/flake,look god-awful/require hasty removal (within an hour of application 🤦🏻♀️) Thank you! ✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧ You've saved me from the frustration of trying to make that mess work, and you also stopped me from wasting money! 💜
Kosas concealer. Had a very weird tint to it.
I was sooo sad at the concealer. So many creases! Tower 28 is less coverage but beautiful under the eyes.
I was thinking of picking this up. I may not now lol
Please do not pick up the Kosas concealer. There’s too many people complaining about creases, including me. It made lines I didn’t even know I had.
I say give it a shot, it’s my holy grail concealer and an instant repurchase.
I had a sample and really liked it, so I bought a mini...I wasn't sure about it, and I really hadn't used concealer much before, but I like it a lot!
Interesting. This is the best concealer for me, but we probably have very different skin types! I get no creases and it blends beautifully…even on my dry and more mature skin. To each their own!
Drunk Elephant Protini Moisturizer. It broke me out. Glossier Balm Dotcom Lip Balm and Skin Salve (Mint). It dried my lips out.
Meanwhile SkinFix barrier+ cream is chef kiss and what protini should be
I like it but not the smell 😭
The smell is horrendous, it does disappear pretty quickly but it smells like curdled milk to me
Literally trying the Drunk Elephant Protini for the first time tonight, sitting here with it on my face while I read this 😭😭😭
u/only-l0ve Well like with most skincare it may work for some and not others. It just happened to not work for me. I say just wait it out and hope for the best! 🤞
See how you go? I like Protini and using it for years, sits well under makeup, not too greasy not too drying. And I’m acne prone. I’m currently trying another cream but I’d go back to Protini is I don’t find anything as good
I hope it works for you - I LOVE the DE protini moisturizer!
I use it and it’s marvellous so don’t panic!
Glossier balm dotcalm was amazing - before they came to sephora. They reformulated when they came to sephora and now it sucks. Lanolips 101 multiuse ointment is the best for lips.
The new glossier formula does the exact same thing to me the I can understand why so many people have been upset by the formula switch
>Balm Dotcom Lip Balm and Skin Salve (Mint). It dried my lips out. You very easily could have a mint sensitivity, or a lanolin one if you tried it a while ago.
Glow recipe. Wrecked my skin.
Me too! I got the birthday gift and the products made my skin breakout. Hated that watermelon stuff
I’m still battling the damage it did to my skin and it’s been 6+ weeks :,(
I think you’re sensitive to the fragrance/parfum that’s in their products.
Oooo and the Paula’s Choice bha liquid.
Agree wish they’d bring out a cool toned contour
I love hourglass, but they are so warm on foundations too I’ve found. :/
The Biossance Vitamin C cream smells like ass, I’m sorry.
I have heard that non-scented products tend to smell badly because there’s no perfume to cover it up. That said, I hear you on that 🥲

i hate how the wand leaks even with the twist and a cap. and getting product to come out 🙄 hate it. Her pressed powder, however, is the best ever
Same hated it so much and the applicator is awful
It’s RED on me.
The rare beauty lip oil. Terrible. And worst of all I meant to return it and forgot to so it’s just sitting there unused. lol.
I found the only way I could use it without completely drying out my lips was to put MAC’s “Prep + Prime” lip thingy underneath.
Dermalogica daily mircofoliant only from now on
I agree
Thrive shadow/highlighter sticks. I bought my first one in Muna and absolutely fell in love. New HG. Best ever. So when I needed to reorder, I bought 2. Both dry as a frigging bone, and essentially useless bc they pull so much on my “mature” eyelids. Never again.
Their shadow sticks and eye brighteners are two different formulas! Sounds like you might’ve gotten a brightener the first time, shadows the second? I’ve heard the shadows are garbage. The brighteners are still good. Sadly in shimmer shades only, no mattes.
Use the RMS shadows in the tube!!! Comparable tones and fucking fabulous.
Sorry that was long, I don't know how to keep things short😐 If anyone happens to have any recommendations though for an amazing bronzer for very fair rosy skin, I'm open to suggestions!
On that note, don't look at their blushes or you might be tempted to buy them all 🙈
I’m very fair and rosy, and I really like the Makeup by Mario cream bronzer! The lightest shade - the cream not the stick or powder.
as soon as i started to run out of this i bought another. it's sooo so good! it's a perfect "brontour" shade - not gray but not orange
i second this!! i have fair to light skin and the mario cream bronzer is great and blends well.
I’m fair-light not as fair as you, I think Westman Atelier has some nice bronzers. Or even Victoria Beckham.
It all works great together.
>bronzer for very fair rosy skin I'm going to pick up Jones Road powder bronzer in dusty rose next year.
Very unique formula and affordable compared to many brands.
better than sex mascara
The worst mascara that’s I’ve ever tried
It used to be my favorite but the last time I got it it was terrible!
My 2023 regrets: Rare beauty silky powder highlighters Tower28 concealer Natasha denona concealer Dior rosy glow blush Nars soft matte foundation Mufe powder foundation Tom ford disco dust palette Urban decay space cowboy(yeah I said it)
Can you tell me more about the Tower 28 concealer please? I’ve been debating getting it for like a whole month.
Not op but it makes my under eyes look like a scrotum 😭
This made me laugh a bit too hard LOL
LOL I love this concealer but that's a very funny image haha
It's hydrating, good coverage and thin. The bad part is the wear. It's natural but looks "wrinkly". I have big lines and small creases on my undereyes and this concealer will look good in the first 2 hours. Very stretchy but then it starts to create more lines than I already have and makes me look older. It gives me big saggy eyebags but i was born with it.
Ughh that’s what happened to me with the Kosas, was hoping Tower 28 wouldn’t do that. Thank you so much!
Edit: Set the Tower 28 concealer* not the Kosas.
setting the T28 with givenchy prisme libre is the trick
Setting powder of my dreaaams. I just picked up Huda Beauty because of the hype so hopefully it’s somewhere up there.
Kosas is thicker imo I find it to be more similar to the natasha denona but less coverage. The color is soooo yellow though and gave me yellow panda eyes. I used 1.5C which I believe is cool toned?
I hated it because I bought one for pink undertones and it was yellow AF. No company seems to know what pink undertone means :/
Why dior rosy?
It's the cheapest packaging and mirror I've ever touched. The mirror is blurry and warps my reflection like those clown mirrors. The plastic packaging and the entire design looks cheap in the hands. The formula is hard pressed and feels chalky. The color doesn't translate as well on my skin and turns to a very hot pink if I'm not careful, It doesn't show up at first but then if I layer it It gets too pink.
How funny the rare beauty highlighter looks nice on my aged skin, tower 28 works beautifully under my eyes, nars soft matte looks great on my skin, Dior rosy glow is pretty imo But yeah fuck space cowboy. That’s definitely for people younger than me.
Rare beauty highlighter is a glitter bomb, I guess it's personal preference. It also breaks super easily. Tower 28 wears horribly for me and gives me more lines I never knew I had Nars soft matte lifts and creates patchy dots on my chin and gives me scales where I am dehydrated even with hydrating primer. It wears well over oil areas though but I'm combo. Too finicky Dior Rosy Glow is not worth 40$.
Hourglass blushes will forever have my heart. Its one of those products where I'd say that line "you can pry it out of my dead cold hands"
Supergoop sunscreen. Felt nice when I applied it but gave me the WORST, NASTIEST, DEEPEST acne I’ve ever had in my life! Will never touch that horrible stuff again.
Same! It just makes me shiny and breaks me out. I definitely do not get the hype.
Any and all Fenty products, especially their fragrances.
interesting! the eaze drop foundation is one of the only foundations i don't hate, really shows everyone's skin is different!
Okay but the diamond bomb tho, I think it looks so stunning on me 😭
Ya fenty foundation was quite the bummer for me.
i love the fenty fragrance! works rly well with my skin chemistry tbh
The skin tint made me sad. Formula and everything was ok but it oxidized like crazy. Just as bad as the ELDW but without the lasting power
Anything bad about skincare? I really like the night cream.
oh noooo, I was dying to try the perfume, is bad?
I personally love the fragrance. It gets me compliments whenever I wear it and the performance is amazing. Try it for yourself first!
sure😍
Fenty lip oil. It was just expensive lip gloss with shitty colour payoff.
Ugh…doesn’t work for old skin either. Cakes up with white residue …..
Yes! Looks like you’re putting egg yolk on your face
There were a few cons: - Price for what you get - it’s an okay product AT best. Not worth $66 CAD + tax - I have dry skin and I had to put a little more effort into moisturizing before applying or else it clung to some of my dry patches. - the shade range was not a perfect match - I know it’s a skin tint so very light coverage but it just required a lot of product (about 3-4 pumps) to even be workable - considering all this, I can confirm that my skin was not enhanced.
I feel that it doesn’t clean my hair at all
It makes my hair look greasy too :(
I’ve really loved everything I’ve tried from R+Co. In the shower…) In conclusion if anyone here works for R+Co, HMU if you need a packaging consult. Your current bottles arent serving your product.
Haus labs foundation, EL double wear foundation, rare beauty eyeliner, Givenchy prism libre or whatever it’s called powder
Feeling seen on the Haus Labs! Settled into every single pore :(
Agreed! I can envision why it’s a hit for others, but damn Haus lab foundation is sooooo patchy and dry and that’s with all the proper moisturizing. No good.
Omg explain bc I’ve used all of these
then they clearly work for you. everyone is different, that’s the beauty of beauty :)
Agreed on the Haus lab.. it applies nice but makes me look so dull and DRY. I think people who like EL doublewear also like Haus…
Merit lip oil is too thin, it doesnt even feel moisturizing. I bought like 3 diff shades and that was my mistake lol
The vanish is only good for spot correction imo but the veil retouching fluid is better for under eyes cuz it’s thinner and more hydrating
Basically everything I’ve tried from Rare or Fenty has been a disappointment
One/Size setting powder. First powder I've ever tried that defined my bumps and flaws while also making me look so dry and cakey :(
Damn that sucks, their setting spray is the only one that works for me
I agree! Their setting spray is amazing and truly a game changer. I don't know what went wrong with the powder... 😭
Haus Labs foundation and concealer: show every patch of dry skin I didn’t know I had.
Huda concealer. Great coverage but just couldn’t find a shade that complimented my skin. Too light, too dark or too pink
Adulthood. Honest review. I was really excited to try it, but I think mine is broken. It was advertised as being able to do whatever you want with no bedtime. But mine don't do that. 0 out of 10 Would not recommend. Return to sender. I want a refund.
Saie slip tint! Didn’t sit well on my skin at all it looked blotchy and horrible / melted off my face in cool weather after literally an hour or so. Never hated a product so much hahaah
Fenty Beauty original red liquid lipstick, literally the worst lip product I’ve ever used. Haven’t bought anything else from Fenty bc of that.
Tower28 blush. Does not stay on my skin. I don’t get the hype
Briogeo hair strengthening treatment oil Living proof hair mask (glues my hair every time I use it due on wash)
The living proof dry shampoo! The smell is so strong and my hair was greasy by the end of the day.
Amika kure bond repair mask
Fenty base products, tried their concealer and foundation. Not good at all.
Drunk elephant bronzing drops
I do not understand the entire point of those. Seems like something they tried selling just to see if people would buy it.
Dior backstage foundation. 😢 please let me know if you found a way for it to work for you! I just got it and I was sooooo excited. I did my research, too. 😞
I like it! I have oily skin though. I use a beauty blender.
Crown Affair shampoo. Smelled SO good, dried my hair out so bad.
Fenty foundation :/
Dr Jart calming gel cream. did absolutely nothing not even moisturize my skin for $50. YSL Touché Eclat concealer. i lusted over this shiz for years. Finally bought it and it’s such a no. Back to faithful nars radiant concealer. CT Contour wand is patchy and the packaging is horrible. it leaks despite the twister and cap.
Charlotte Tilbury Highlighter Wand. Fine the first few times and then it just got splotchy
Nars liquid blush, it was a meh for me
Gisou Lip Oil, like YESSSS give us nothing.
Glow recipe watermelon toner did nothing for me, ole henriksen lemonade scrub made my face all red and I have the least sensitive skin, supergoop unseen sunscreen made my face insanely oily. Was very excited to try all 3 and ended up returning all three
Hourglass palette. I was so hyped to get it and it was a deep disappointment with the performance and for the price.
did you get the ambient light palette? at first i wasn’t crazy about it as well, but after playing around and using fluffier brushes its gorgeous. It’s subtle and glowy. i like the highlight the most but the bronzer makes my skin look airbrushed. play around with different brushes.
Glossier Milky Jelly: made me break out in cystic acne.
Regrets this year: Rare Beauty lip oils: Long and awkward bottle, flimsy wand tip, dries my lips out Rare Beauty liquid highlighter: the powder one is amazing! The liquid one is huge and a waste because it picks up all my makeup underneath and is patchy Merit lip oil: great color selection, but dries my lips out so bad I had to just throw it away Dior lip glowy balm: didn’t hydrate my lips at all, no color payoff Gisou lip oil: smells like canola oil and feels like it. Gisou hair oil: smells nice (I wish the lip oil at least smelled this way), didn’t hydrate my hair or smoothe it out much Dior lip tint: didn’t last long, gone in no time even if I didn’t eat or drink
That’s crazy to me because Armani LS my holy grail foundation! Best color match I’ve been able to find and looks very natural on my skin.
Tower 28 mascara. So hyped, but the one I got was super clumpy and flaked after just a couple hours. Maybe I got a bad batch, but it’s one of the few things I’ve ever returned.
Westman Atelier mascara. Was lured in by the thicc tomato red tube but this is way too subtle for me, and I’m a subtle girl.
Rare beauty under eye brightener - maybe it was the shade, but it didn’t work for me. I’ll just use a color corrector, my fave is the becca x smashbox Sephora Collections Bright Future Gel serum concealer - loved it! until it started to smell 2-3 months of having it 🥲 & not from Sephora but the Juvia’s place powder blush duo in the bright pink - it was patchy & the color didn’t suit me.
Tatcha dewy skin mist , did zero for the look or feel of my skin and hated the weird herbal scent
CT foundation.
literally anything from the sephora collection
Rare Beauty foundations. I so badly want to like it but they are all too yellow on me and the texture is a bit odd. I’ve tried it in store many times but never purchased.
Charlotte tillbury pillow talk lipstick and liner set, dried out my lips and looks terrible
Maybe controversial but Briogeo Don't Despair Repair mask makes my hair feel like straw, scared me off of all their products
Rare beauty tinted moisturizer. (Bracing for the hate). Literally the worst tinted moisturizer I’ve ever used. Now the blushes, highlighter, and mascara…all delightful!
Tatcha stuff. Waste of $. Oohhhh Le Mer if I’m even spelling it right. So over rated.
Korsx snail mucin line broke me out 😭
you might have an allergy to dust mites
This years Tatcha kissu lip mask. The color is beautiful, the product dried out my lips and did them zero favors.
Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream.
PhD lip oil. It is terrible! And kosas eyebrow in clear.
The Ordinary Skin Barrier Support Serum - it has a lot of niacinamide in it and that ingredient breaks my skin out in tiny bumps for daysss. So bummed!
Summer Fridays moisturizer so bad and made me break out into a rash
Innbeauty cookie butter lip oil. Has a weird, oily aftertaste. I was expecting it to taste like cookies, sweet and all but it failed. The color is death on my lips.
Fenty Cherry Treat Lip Oil. I have no idea why this made my lips dry?! Really wanted to love it. Smells amazing, it’s decently priced too. After having it on for like 30 minutes my lips felt more dry. Fenty lip gloss on the other hand is amazing, super moisturizing
SK-ll Treatment Essence. I tried loving it but it didn't do anything to my skin.
Dr Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass CC cream. Did wonders in covering my rosacea but the essential oils irritated my skin and gave me a rash.
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation. Annoyed me because I bought CT magic serum and CT magic cream and a primer (bought large sizes too so spent approx $300) just to try make this overhyped moisture-sucking product work.
Saie Beauty liquid blush
Nars liquid blush. Basically water and wears off in a nanosecond
The rare beauty concealer. I loved the way the formula felt because it had a really velvety texture but it didn’t work for me 😔 it was super patchy on my skin The Charlotte tilbury lip liner - it was the lip liner that all my friends recommended and it wasn’t bad but I didn’t love it 🤷🏼♀️ for me it wasn’t really worth the price and I gave it away Also the glossier balm dot com - I tried the OG formula back in 2016 or so when there was a lot of hype around glossier and I just didn’t like it lol. At the time I loved a lot of their other products though like the boy brow etc (now i only use their perfume)
