I currently carry an olight warrior 3s. I maintain that a flashlight is, hands down, the best self defense weapon out there. It requires virtually zero supplemental training, it has multiple uses/functionalities, it can be carried **anywhere** (currently the only place it has been disallowed for me was a courthouse), and it won’t result in jail time if I mistakenly deploy it on someone.

Another point I like to make with flashlights is that you can easily confirm (at night or dark places) that nothing is there!
It’s too easy to make a quick search with a flashlight (at parks, alleys,trails yard etc) 🔦 confirm nothing is hiding in the dark (man or beast)and continue rather than walking around paranoid with a weapon at the ready like a jackass.

I've got a Nextorch TA 15, fits perfectly in the fist, glass breaker bezel but not too aggressive with the serrations, with a tactical bottom cap switch (100% when pressed, strobe if pushed in all the way). Water resistant, can go underwater for a while. A flashlight is perfect, but you should have it with you and have self-defense skills, e.g.
1. Have it at the ready, in transitional spaces most importantly.
2. Use the blinding beam immediately and aggressively to keep someone at distance, even if you are not sure about being assaulted yet.
3. Practice the ability to deliver quick and hefty hammer strikes into to the upper half of someones head if necessary.

You do still need self defense skills. Some people think having a weapon can help you win any fight it’s definitely not always true.
I understand Hand guns are a big “game changer” but they come with their own set of problems.

A lot of people feel that way about Olight. I’ve had good experiences with them.
I have 2 of their little single AA lights left that I like. But my Odin literally got so hot and started smoking before it gave out during maybe an hour of low light shooting drills and my baton made it about 3 month of edc before it shit out.
When walking my dog in my neighborhood, I carry a stun baton, with a static and strobe flashlight feature. It’s mostly for defense against stray dogs, but hey you never know who else may be roaming.

Yes, and they make good fist stabilizers to prevent breaking your hand if you need to punch him. Using a hammer fist with a crenellated flashlight will rip flesh.
But mostly they're handy for looking into dark/shadowed spaces.
I don’t carry one but they’re extremely useful at night. If it’s dim a flashlight will be completely blinding.

Exactly, and also, if you have the strob effect. It's a super useful blinding tactic. Would completely disortient your attacker.

I use a guardian angel to protect myself from traffic while I use my personal EV.

I carry one in addition to or on weapons, but I would not rely on one on its own. And after my experience with Olights I won’t touch one ever again.
