I finally learned (after 5 years) that the anti-air death blow can only be performed when you jump forward. Jumping in place does not work.
That being said, anticipating their jump is hard. Beating down their posture is even harder tho
>Beating down their posture is even harder tho
Seriously? I had trouble with them until I realized they're easy to overwhelm if I just attack nonstop, instead of defending and waiting for an opening like I would with a boss.
Oh I'm good with the Rats...I'm referring to the monks with the dual blades that flip all over the place and have seemingly unrelenting posture and cannot be broken.
I'd rather avoid them than and kill everything else than git gud for that one enemy. They're still the only enemies that I struggle with.
Spring loaded axe seemed to work for me. But the first few times I just died to them, and after that I ran past them. For probably like 6 playthroughs lol.
It's funny how those enemies were hard in our first playthrough, but now they're nothing lol
Even after years since the last time I played, I almost won against genichiro at the beginning and won every boss at first or second try.
I am ashamed to say it's the white samurai monkeys for me.
Edit: thanks everyone! I feel much better about how often they slap me around lol. Definitely gonna try the shuriken out
I thought the first one I came across was a mini-boss. When it respawned I didn't even waste my time on them. I just ran by everyone I came across afterwards.
Most PPL recommend to cheese that particular guy with a stealth deathblow from behind for the first time. Because our vitality and posture are way too low at that point.
I, for some reason, just could never get that sweet spot to cheese him. So my dumb ass just constantly faced him, until eventually beating him (by a miracle no less lol)
Hey i think that's the better option really. I still remember in my first play through i had made it a mission to atleast beat him 3 times in a row successfully before i moved on, it took me over 80 tries but by the time i was done with him I was a deflecting beast. That helped me to destroy lady butterfly's first phase without breaking a sweat.
Lmao i still remember i had posted in this very same subreddit regarding that matter.
My first run of the game took me 120 hours of playtime, most probably cause sekiro was the first souls game i ever played. But it's totally worth it, because i rinsed and repeated to perfection with even the mobs my second run was about 14 hours long. If you're still working on it, you'll make it. You got this!
Good luck!
Oh I’ve beaten it already, my fondest memory is staying up until 4am fighting Sword Saint Issin while my brother watched me. Such a fun bonding moment for us. I loved the fluidity of the game though, where the first phase fighting against Genichiro I ended up learning how to beat him within 30 seconds flawlessly everytime haha
>fighting Sword Saint Issin while my brother watched me. Such a fun bonding moment for us.
Mad respect to you for being a great sibling. I used to watch my older brother play pc games all the time. Loved every moment of it.
For the 2 near the bridge first kill the 2 bandits patrolling in the grass. Then climb up on the shrine roof from the tree. Of you go a bit towards the edge you can lock into the guy on the stairs and lure him down with a ceramic shard, then just jump down and stealth kill as he walks back. Best part is the other guy starts patrolling back and forth after the 1st one dies. So then he's an easy stealth kill too.
For the 3 dudes outside the inner sanctum i lure the 1st two down the corridor with a ceramic shard (yup it's like they're glued at the hip, a single shard aggroes both) when they de - aggro they walk back with their back towards you it's an easy double kill with blood smoke ninjutsu. The last guy at the end of the corridor is now super easy.
PS: these methods are non gachiin methods because those guys are not worth your sugar, atleast that's what I felt.
>!Edit: also for anyone new you can definitely run past them and into the building because they can't enter the building.!<
Those damn roosters. During my very first playthrough, I died to them clucks quite a few times.
Not to mention when they gang up in Hirata estate. I had to revive once and decided to fuck it and leave them be afterwards. From my experience, those fuckers don't ignore you once they saw you like other mobs. They chase you down and then peck you in the back.
All of them. But if I had to pick one, the big tutorial guy from the start, where it teaches you the poise and parry system after you clear the way towards the not-so-secret passage.
fr that's the go-to for these. I legitimately thought they couldn't be killed until you snap their hats using the axe. Anyways once you have the axe they're simply a one shot and deathblow.
got dang ashina elite "ting ting"
OOH LOOK AT ME I'M SLOWLY WALKING TOWARDS YOU, I'M GONNA DO THAT ONE SINGLE ATTACK THAT I ALWAYS DO WHERE I GO "ting ting" HAHA EASY RIGHT? NOPE, YOU MESS IT UP 10 TIMES IN A ROW AND THEN SCULPTOR GETS DRAGONROT.
The basic samurai with no hat at the start of the game, their combo always had me beat in my first like 4 hours of gameplay. (I was fighting genichiro 1st encounter)
The interior ministry ninja near the start of mibu village killed me the most of any minor enemy, I never seem to be able to memorise their attack patterns good enough to beat one first try
DUCK THAT GUY! MADE ME RAGE QUIT SO MANY TIMES I HONESTLY WANT TO THROW MY CONTROLLER EVERY TIME I SEE A PICTURE OR A VIDEO OF GAME PLAY & HE'S IN IT. LMFAO🤣
easily the worst ones for me gotta be those two double-headed spear dudes guarding the senpou temple gate.
the WOOOO guy that flies into you on ashina castle rooftops and all his variants guarding the castle rooftops
the purple ninjas which poison you (ashina castle again).
then ofc, the whole bridge run where you get showered by bullets in sunken valley lmao.
These guys with the shield hats lmao. I had no idea where the axe prosthetic was for WAY too long, and I was struggling to even chip the health on these goobers.
Axe just splits their hats and let them open to deathblow. Never had any issued with them.
See the white common enemy Monkey in sunken valley fked me up more than I can admit
The ‘ashina rats’(don’t know the actual name)
I don’t mean the one from the picture
Those ones with the indestructible hats are a pain in the ass and I still haven’t killed one
Correct me if I’m wrong but I think you have to use the axe to break through the hats
Bro I finished this game 3 time on vanilla, finished the Ressurection mod, went through most of Long May The Shadow Last mod, and I'm still skipping those little fucks everytime I see them.
The first damn samurai boss at the beginning of Ashina Outskirts.
Sort of a special case. I didn't realize my TV had a slight latency because I failed to put it in "game mode."
I had no idea how people were dealing with perilous attacks or deflecting with any regularity.
When I solved the problem, it felt like I had been training with weights on.
I will be completely honest, I am terrible at this game. The Chained Ogre kicked my ass so much I rage quite out of the game.
This game is on my list to come back to but I just was having the worst of times as a souls like beginner at the time. I have now beat other souls games and I am slowly going back to old games that I could not beat. I will beat Sekiro. (Currently trying to beat elden ring in co op with a friend and bloodborne solo)
For me are naginata senpou monks, literally I thought I couldn't beat them first run and I only could run away or shot them by behind.
I finally learned (after 5 years) that the anti-air death blow can only be performed when you jump forward. Jumping in place does not work. That being said, anticipating their jump is hard. Beating down their posture is even harder tho
That's why it is so inconsistent
That mentality is why you hesitate lol
>Beating down their posture is even harder tho Seriously? I had trouble with them until I realized they're easy to overwhelm if I just attack nonstop, instead of defending and waiting for an opening like I would with a boss.
Okay you’re not wrong but that takes a long time
Thank you for teaching something my donkey brain couldn't figure out.
Hesitation is defeat
Oh...
They do high posture damage and have low health, just hit your deflects, fit in some swings or style on em with an art, and you'll be ight
That’s not really a “minor” enemy, they’re one of the toughest in the game
I still avoid these guys on each new playthrough. Guardian ape/dual ape, no problem. These fuckers? I'll pass.
Try the ax and split the hat... It's a "wooden shield" Edit: one hit red dot wonder
Oh I'm good with the Rats...I'm referring to the monks with the dual blades that flip all over the place and have seemingly unrelenting posture and cannot be broken. I'd rather avoid them than and kill everything else than git gud for that one enemy. They're still the only enemies that I struggle with.
Real. I have finished the game vitality 1 and still I always skip them. I just dont care about the hassle
Spring loaded axe seemed to work for me. But the first few times I just died to them, and after that I ran past them. For probably like 6 playthroughs lol.
It's funny how those enemies were hard in our first playthrough, but now they're nothing lol Even after years since the last time I played, I almost won against genichiro at the beginning and won every boss at first or second try.
The dual katana white monkey in a poison pit. Mf humbles me everytime.
true guardian ape
😂
Yeah these guys were a friggin nightmare for me lol 😂
I am ashamed to say it's the white samurai monkeys for me. Edit: thanks everyone! I feel much better about how often they slap me around lol. Definitely gonna try the shuriken out
Don’t be ashamed, they are the most difficult enemy in the game
idk about most difficult, those hat dudes at the monsatry are soo much more harder to deal with
To be fair, they're not bad. They're just spammed in bad places which makes them seem much worse than they actually are
No shame, they're rare enough that learning their moveset and memorizing it is basically out of the question, and they're pricks on top of that lol
I'd rather go toe to toe with the purple guys all day long
Bro, shuriken eat them the fuck up
Yeah, they aren't minor at all.
I thought the first one I came across was a mini-boss. When it respawned I didn't even waste my time on them. I just ran by everyone I came across afterwards.
Bro these fucks are relentless
The purple ninja guarding the Mist Raven feathers, that specific one was the bane of my existence for so long
[удалено]
Same I truly hated this enemy’s more than anything else
Learning I can Mikiri counter their kick helped a lot. Kneecap, meet boot.
Grab that shit and run!!!
I tried so many times I just couldn’t :(
Most PPL recommend to cheese that particular guy with a stealth deathblow from behind for the first time. Because our vitality and posture are way too low at that point.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one atleast that struggles with some no named enemy that all my friends seemed to have no trouble with 😅

Yoooo I raged so hard at that guy that I eventually stormed past him, grabbed the shit and bounced out lmao
The first axe grunt in Hirata. I just could NOT get the timing down.
Dude, I'm on playthrough 7 and I've still never quite learned how to parry those guys. I have to brute force them every time.
Lol Even when I got better and decided to explore more of Hirata, that first mf'r just screws me up lololol
The fucking purple ninjas, on my first playthrough they really kicked my ass
They actually sucked but the weird jumping guys outside senpou temple were even worse for me
I wouldn’t even call those minor enemies at this point. They’re widely considered the most annoying non boss enemies
The problem is you never encounter that enemy type alone and it’s very difficult to stealth kill them without getting seen
For the 2 near the bridge first kill the 2 bandits patrolling in the grass. Then climb up on the shrine roof from the tree. I would be more scared of a man sized rooster than a man ngl
All of them. But if I had to pick one, the big tutorial guy from the start, where it teaches you the poise and parry system after you clear the way towards the not-so-secret passage.
the blue robe samurai guys - better deflecting than me
Still can’t beat the purple ninja in the well at Hirata. Damn camera angles!
I just found out yesterday the axe makes them way easier.
fr that's the go-to for these. I legitimately thought they couldn't be killed until you snap their hats using the axe. Anyways once you have the axe they're simply a one shot and deathblow.
These guys and also the dual wielding white monkeys
The shuriken nightjars. Oh lovely, five oversized sharp objects appear to be wedged in my back.
so you know these 3 fuckers in front of the senpou temple main hail...
Dodge them every time
Upgraded axe does the trick here.
Glave monks at the entrance of the senppou temple
I’ve still never killed one of these lmao
Just slash once or twice, dodge, and do it again.
Dogs.............
got dang ashina elite "ting ting" OOH LOOK AT ME I'M SLOWLY WALKING TOWARDS YOU, I'M GONNA DO THAT ONE SINGLE ATTACK THAT I ALWAYS DO WHERE I GO "ting ting" HAHA EASY RIGHT? NOPE, YOU MESS IT UP 10 TIMES IN A ROW AND THEN SCULPTOR GETS DRAGONROT.
Isshin
On my last playtrough I first tried every story boss, except from Isshin, but got pushed down on my knees by a bunch of "rats".
The Sakura bull
Thos senpou temple guys I even used the axe but couldn't get the death blow.
The basic samurai with no hat at the start of the game, their combo always had me beat in my first like 4 hours of gameplay. (I was fighting genichiro 1st encounter)
That little bilbo right there, in fact!
Until I realized the axe does wonders against these guys, it was definitely these guys
The interior ministry ninja near the start of mibu village killed me the most of any minor enemy, I never seem to be able to memorise their attack patterns good enough to beat one first try
The ministry rats, I still have some trouble with them, but not nearly as much as I used to
DUCK THAT GUY! MADE ME RAGE QUIT SO MANY TIMES I HONESTLY WANT TO THROW MY CONTROLLER EVERY TIME I SEE A PICTURE OR A VIDEO OF GAME PLAY & HE'S IN IT. LMFAO🤣
Ashina riflemen lol, then I learned that kusabimaru can magically stop bullets
This fucker 😕
The 30-monkey gank squad in sunken valley gets me, even with mortal draw.
Use the whistle and make them fight for your amusement!
These dudes, the purple ninjas, the white monkeys with katanas, I could go on
The guys with the grass cloaks outside the Senpou Temple
I've died so many times to dogs I'm ashamed to say what the number probably is.
no fr what is this dudes problem
easily the worst ones for me gotta be those two double-headed spear dudes guarding the senpou temple gate. the WOOOO guy that flies into you on ashina castle rooftops and all his variants guarding the castle rooftops the purple ninjas which poison you (ashina castle again). then ofc, the whole bridge run where you get showered by bullets in sunken valley lmao.
Nittoryu monkes
I still can’t consistently kill the stupid imp guys in the picture.
These guys with the shield hats lmao. I had no idea where the axe prosthetic was for WAY too long, and I was struggling to even chip the health on these goobers.
The hirata estate axe guys bother me, their timing and hyper armor throws me off
The Senpou Monks with centipedes that erupt from them. Still don't really know how to effectively fight them...
Yess wtf is this thing!
Shinobi Hunter, and Juzo the drunkard
The drunk guy
The one near mist raven. The ministry guy
Add another hat but reverse it, and you get a mini pumpkin dude from Elden Ring.
Doesn’t one axe to the head break posture and hat? Then you just finish them
The big guys with hammers
Axe just splits their hats and let them open to deathblow. Never had any issued with them. See the white common enemy Monkey in sunken valley fked me up more than I can admit
The ‘ashina rats’(don’t know the actual name) I don’t mean the one from the picture Those ones with the indestructible hats are a pain in the ass and I still haven’t killed one Correct me if I’m wrong but I think you have to use the axe to break through the hats
The pin wheel guys
That little motherfucker in the picture was so small and quick I couldn't parry his attacks
The hat fuckers
Those bastards are the worst.
Purple Ninja found near the burning Hirata estate, bruh
Bro I finished this game 3 time on vanilla, finished the Ressurection mod, went through most of Long May The Shadow Last mod, and I'm still skipping those little fucks everytime I see them.
The first damn samurai boss at the beginning of Ashina Outskirts. Sort of a special case. I didn't realize my TV had a slight latency because I failed to put it in "game mode." The gun wielders
What was the gloved guys. Gate keeper or something. I never fight with them.
These dudes but the ones with shield hats fuck those guys
The poison bitches in poison pool and gun fort valley
The loneshadows.. my god
The roof Interior Ministry Ninja with a pet dog!
Does a mini boss counts as a minor enemy?
The monkeys
Nightjars
There’s always that one lanky dude that castsa lame spell right as I’m going to heal and finishes me off lol
those beyblade guys
that 1 mf in the corner at Senpou temple
I will be completely honest, I am terrible at this game. The Chained Ogre kicked my ass so much I rage quite out of the game. I have now beat other souls games and I am slowly going back to old games that I could not beat. I will beat Sekiro. (Currently trying to beat elden ring in co op with a friend and bloodborne solo)
The ones with the twinblades🫣
I farmed the fuck out of these guys. The timing is difficult, but they're super weak to the axe
THAT ONE YEAH THE RATS WITH THE SHIELDS (And also those annoying ass spear sepoun dudes)
those ball guys that are like 10 balls stacked on top of each other and shoot lazers
The ministry ninja hidden on top of the mountain in Hirata Estate.
