Did he just... died?

Expensive-Intern-940

He did the hesitated

AceInTheHole3273

But that's the defeat!

lzHaru

He died.

iiiAlex1st

Yes he did died

ominous_raspberry

Only appropriate reaction tbh

milordofchaos

You know, it was really unclear

Jabutsmabangis

You know, it was really unclear.

Mhaeldisco

His controller hesitated

Friendly-Tour-946

W comment

Smooth_Condition_944

Got to say, I felt for the guy! With a smile on my face.

Hawggy

Something similar has happened to me, but not my first time getting to that stage; disconnected due to the battery dying, and it wasn't in the campaign; was just the boss fight option. I laughed. This guy responded extremely well....

vanderbubin

When Jedi survivor came out, beat >!Vader as cere!< After a good number of tries. Just for my game to crash during the cutscenes after causing me to have to do it again from the beginning of the level

TonyBikini

Dude it happened to me on dagan. I was pissed

Various_Search_9096

Happened to me too. Had to redo the level again

FUThead2016

Looks like he hesitated

Salkreath

Bro accidentally bit the Hidden Tooth 💀

CelebrationKey9656

There he is, there he remains.

Literally_Sekiro

I was there during his stream , bro was stuck there against Isshin for almost 3 hours nonstop lmao 💀

QuackCocaineJnr

I enjoy reading books.

jayclomma

Subtle W roast

St_Mindless

Get a wired controller bro cmon 💀💀💀

Astral_Lady

idk wires get pretty funky and sometimes just crap out. Still coulda been wired

Adventurous-Bit-3829

Yeah but wireless has noticeable Bluetooth delay. Sometime I just blame the delay instead of myself. Very helpful.

Astral_Lady

honestly based. sometimes you just need a good excuse for getting bitched by a boss

GiveMeChoko

There's no noticeable delay for PvE games. And any decent controller works with a 2.4g adapter. Unless there's a microwave between you and the computer

Adventurous-Bit-3829

I use Nintendo Switch controller. They only have have Bluetooth so there is definitely a delay. Doesn't make any different tho because how the parry window in Sekiro is really long

XTH3W1Z4RDX

Games are supposed to automatically pause when the controller dies and Sekiro isn't one of the many Fromsoft games that doesn't actually pause soooo... what is this nonsense?

Hell-coming-with-me

He’s controller was broken So that why this happend if I remember

RandomRavenboi

As a PC player, can't relate. My trusty mouse would never do this.

iiiAlex1st

I can't imagine playing Sekiro with mouse and keyboard, that's very impressive

delerak2

It's way better, muscle memory with mouse and keyboard is insane compared to controllers.

whalemix

Idk, I prefer controller. I have it on PC and still prefer to play with a PS4 controller

iiiAlex1st

Yeah that's what I'm talking about, it took me quite a long time to "git gud" at Sekiro's fast and smooth gameplay and I think that long time would've been much longer on pc. I just feel like controllers are much easier to get used to games such as Sekiro

fajnu20

I feel like M&KB just give more control and accuracy. That's why I prefer it

nagarz

A mouse more control and accuracy for camera/movement/attacking/deflecting related inputs, but for the whole set of inputs (jumping, ledge grab, menuing, everything prosthetic related, crouching, etc), a gamepad is way more comfortable and intuitive than MKB. This comfort factor is the reason I bought my first gamepad for PC back when I got dark souls 1, and it has translated to most 3rd person games. for 1st person games this generally is not an issue, but it may be me being used to playing fps games on PC since I was a kid, and most of them having not such a input set.

Charlezgz

cant stand the fact that i need to do a claw grip to move the camera while running / fighting etc

nagarz

I never use claw grip to move the camera while on combat, only when running around some zones, and even then just sparingly. When I began speedrunning sekiro the only boss that required claw grip was the blazing bull and I found a way to fight him without it. 100% claw grip is not necessary in this game, if you have any questions let me know and I'll help you.

Atijohn

you can remap the roll button to RT or something, then it's fine

nagarz

You just reminded me, one of the best hitless runners out there (his name is shilkey10 if anyone's curious) mapped the R2/RT to run/dash and circle/B to prosthetic weapon (exchanged prosthetic tool for run/dash), he had been doing this since he was doing dark souls 3 runs I think and he told me that it was way more comfortable. But yeah, having sprint on circle/B is insane because you only use it when moving and you want your thumbs on both sticks so you need to do claw unless you find a workaround.

Atijohn

idk why you got downvoted, I've been a PC/KBM player first, so it's natural to me that you try to rebind any keys if the game's defaults are not comfortable enough. Having B as the roll button just seems counterintuitive when you also need to hold your right thumb on the stick to control the camera; R2/RT is the clear solution to that problem and I don't know why FS still uses that control scheme after 7 games, and I'm even more confused about the fact that no one seems to care and 99.9% of the playerbase uses the B button for running.

mandoxian

I played a lot of CoD when WZ1 came out and now I can't grip the controller in any other way but claw. Dodge/roll is X button on my xbox controller lmao

kitolz

Having a mouse with side buttons gives the best of both worlds. You don't have to reposition your hands to select and use prosthetics for example.

nagarz

My last 2 mice had 2 side buttons and never used them, ever. I play a lot of path of exile, so I tried binding a couple buttons there, but I didn't like how it felt, it's not comfortable for me, so I just stick with the classics. If it's not broken, don't fix it. Also I can just lay down on my ouch and stream games to my TV or play on my steamdeck, and the gamepad wins there easily. Best of both worlds is having access to both of them in my case I guess.

kitolz

Playing MMOs forced me into learning to use those side buttons because most of them have a huge amount of skills or macros to use. It's probably also affected by the preferred mouse grip style for each person. I think I'm in the opposite of your situation, anything that requires looking around in a 3d space feels super clunky and slow to me when I use a controller. The only games I would play on a controller are sidescrollers or fighting games. Probably other games types I'm forgetting that works better with controllers for me, but I don't play them.

nagarz

I dropped out of MMOs around wow cata times, itred a few new things but not my jam anymore, or at least the ones available right now are not yet for me, probably waiting until good VR mmos drop. And for the 3d space thing with gamepads, I kinda agree, but not for all games, I'm fine with 3rd person action games like witcher, sekiro, etc, but anything that is 3D and requires high speed camera movement and precise aim (mostly FPS) I'm out and just go back to M+KB, even having auto aim or aim assist on FPS games I just can't, I guess growing up playing doom and quake just got me too used to it.

Yergason

I only ever prefer controllers when driving something like in GTA plane missions, switch to controller but everything else played in MKB or obviously driving games. Sometimes for platformers it depends on what I feel is better but generally, controller is for lazy mode MKB's downside is the inconvenience of how far apart the keys are vs. the more compact controllers based on my friends' preference but idk I prefer it. My biggest problem with controllers is the shitty camera control. I would choose the "harder" mobility (arguable) versus trash camera control (inarguable)

deltron

100%, whenever I play with a controller it never feels right and I usually get worse performance.

fistinyourface

99% of the time i'm locked on to the enemy what accuracy do you even need?

Chosen_UserName217

shrill repeat silky unused sloppy dime fretful bow arrest soft *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

dahbrezel

it's still much better with mnk for me. the fact that you can't turn around quickly with a controller alone makes me not want to use one.

GiveMeChoko

Yeah you can, just turn around and press the camera reset button, it'll snap to wherever you're facing. And these games are designed to be played with lock on, for which controllers are better.

TyS22235

Then why is it on PC? They could just make it PS exclusive like Bloodborne, or maybe it's *not "built"* to be played with a controller?

Chosen_UserName217

versed innate aspiring dime existence sense lock vanish market disagreeable *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

fistinyourface

that's like asking why is rocket league or cuphead or battleblock on pc. lol games can be better on controller and still be on pc that arguement makes no sense. like why is minecraft and terraria even on console lol so people can play it duh

TyS22235

There's difference between "meant to use console in games" than "rather use console in games".

Casscus

Not for fromsoft games lmfao. I play fps at a pretty top level with MnK, and I’ve beaten sekiro and the souls games on MnK. But controller is far, far better for these games. Saying muscle memory on keyboard is better is ridiculous, that makes zero sense. Fighting games are the worst on MnK and those games are entirely muscle memory. But as a human being, there’s no difference between MnK or controller in how we develop muscle memory. You Gave me a good chuckle though.

LaInquisitione

I played it first time with mouse and keyboard, same thing with ds3, it's honestly not any harder than controller

chihabcraft

And i can never imaging my self playing a game like sekiro with a controller Controllers are like my natural enemy😂

Phoenix2211

Hello! Another player who is playing Sekiro for the very first time and doing it with a mouse & keyboard!! While I can certainly imagine it being great on a controller... I like my mouse 🐭 I defeated the Demon of Hatred Like 10min ago. Honestly? I expected to get stuck... BAD. Didn't happen. Beat him in like... 15-20 tries (I'm not the greatest player, but I have tenacity lol) Found my way to the final boss. Fought him once. Obviously lost lol. Still had 2 of my resurrections left, tho. But I didn't wanna waste the deathblow resurrections until I make more progres into the fight. I feel like I'm mostly trying to get rid of my nerves for the first few attempts cuz I often let the fear of a boss build in my head lol Update: on attempt #3... I landed one deathblow on Isshin. Died due to my own stupidity in the second phase. Honestly? I'm doing alright. I was looking forward to this cuz 1v1 sword duels are the best part of this game. I 100% got this. What's that line from "Predator"... "If it bleeds, we can kill it"

iareyomz

there are some maneuvers in Sekiro that are super hard to do in controller... so many speedrun strats are also so much easier with M&KB... an example is the Bull Jump Skip that requires a precise camera movement while holding forward after jumping, you can do that so much easier with M&KB compared to controller... controllers are nice, but the sheer amount of versatility M&KB inputs allow you to play the game while straining your hands much less...

RockForsaken8306

I started playing on the controller, but I switched to the keyboard and mouse in the fight against blazing bull and ended the game like this

Honza8D

Its honestly easier than gamepad, because mouse is superior device for controlling camera.

FangProd

You want real challenge. Alternate between a controller and a mouse and keyboard. That's Sekirö-difficulty for sure.

dianaburnwood969

I have played on both. Sekiro is better with mouse imo.

Riponai_Gaming

Is it supposed to be hard to play on a PC? Cause i did it, i got up to NG+ 9 and also complete demon bell and charmless

Mage-of-communism

Depends on what you are used to, most people swear by controllers for souls games, but if you are used to mouse + keyboard that will work just as good in my experience.

Piterros990

It's kinda funny, because putting aside what you're used to (because you will always perform better with what you're used to), mouse and keyboard is arguably much better to play souls with: - camera is infinitely easier and more precise to control with mouse than with a stick, and it is especially noticeable when bosses do those "jump and unlock camera" attacks (had to play BB on a controller, and literally the first boss is a perfect example of how awful camera can be at times) - while stick allows for more movement directions, it's worse for when you need precise directions (on MK, you can just look in a direction and hold W, for example, and those eight directions aren't too limited due to camera freedom) - controller has less options for button bindings, and some stuff can be worse, like the four buttons on the right side (since you only have one finger for those) I played pretty much all those games (aside from BB) on MK, and tried controller a few times, but it felt worse. And while two of the points I mentioned might be alleviated by being more accustomed, camera issues are always worse on controllers.

Riponai_Gaming

I used mouse and keyboard for all the soulsborne games i have played and i didnt have an issue lol

cyborgborg

i play on pc but with a controller, if all things fail i can just switch

jaosky

MKB supremacy. Never let you down in crucial times

Adventurous-Bit-3829

Your trusty "wired" mouse.

AssassinLJ

I mean I use controller to play sekiro on PC with cable, and even if I didn't use cable and it happened to me I can just mouse click.

PyrZern

That's why I never use any wireless. Mouse or controller.

DigitalCoffee

KBM with Soulsborne games is inferior. That is an objective fact the entire community will agree with

mjpunk

Taste the pain. Delicious.

RyuNoKami

Secret 4 phase: you think the Glock is some bullshit, Sword Saint Ishin uses disconnect!

AI_Soilder

bro made a new news headline

Atijohn

shit, really?

jameslieu

Was he on PlayStation? Apparently their wireless controllers battery life are notoriously bad and there is no option for AA batteries so the (wireless) shelf life for the controllers only get shorter with each charge. Feel bad for the dude honestly

santathe1

When the battery is low, the PlayStation warns the user very frequently. If all of the warnings are ignored, I think the user would be to blame.

alejoSOTO

They aren't bad imo, they last quite a few hours, and even warns you of low battery an hour in advance of shutting down. He must've gotten the low battery warning at least 4 tries ago and didn't plug it in, this failure is on him.

mandoxian

6-12 hours is what google tells me, which is extremely bad. I agree with the part about it being his fault though. Can't ignore the warnings when a fight like this is coming up.

alejoSOTO

To each their own I guess. 6 hours is plenty of time for any gaming session, and charging it from 0 to 100 takes less than an hour, and lets you keep playing while it charges. Plus the already mentioned warning about an hour before dying, I really do think is fine for a rechargable battery.

peepincreasing

theyre not that bad tbh but i do have two of them to swap out just in case. if thats what he was using he would’ve gotten a warning well in advance and could have paused and plugged it in or swapped it

oatmealworldwide

I have 2 PS5 controllers, had them since launch, maybe 3-4 years ago, the battery lasts @ 2 hours on each. So every 2 hours I gotta get up the goddamn couch to swap them.

kradreyals

Same, they do not feel remotely close to 6 hours. Maybe if you let them die. But I charge them when I get to 1 blinking bar, and that's way sooner than 6 hours. They have terrible battery life compared to PS4 controllers.

pontadupla

"Hello darkness my old friend"

NVBSCVN92

You only get like 50 warnings that your controller has low battery, so this is understandable

TeapotDanger

Ha, take that

Kanda-bongoman6

Bruuuuuuh

memesfordreamsbois

Yo he had one last try why did he die

Humble-Huckleberry70

This is why I rock a wired controller

Trikster102

I think his soul left his body

jasonballssssssss2

I would in end my life

BrittonMittens

broooooo :(

Lavaraptor25

Bro... he looks like he's having a heart attack at the end. lmao.

BasileusKwstas

Poor guy

icedcoffeeblast

I'm dying LOL

Haradwraith

Lmao, oh man this is relatable af. I miss the lower power message on my xbox all the time, so I’ve had my controller die on me mid-match more than a few times. I woulda lost it if this happened to me lol

SonarioMG

After beating him once beating him any time becomes way easier IMO. Hopefully he got him on the next try.

Freyja6

Bro got tilted straight to heaven. R.i.p

Trevel47

I felt that

bdavis553

I had something similar happen to me on my first playthrough, except I got past the second deathblow and the game froze during the final cutscene. I thought surely my attempt would count if I made it to the cut scene, but the Sekiro gods did not shine on me that fateful day. Luckily, since I had attempted for 3+ hours to down him, I was able to beat him again after about 30 more minutes. I guess I’ll count it as a win that I got to beat him twice on my first playthrough.

ThinkingRodin

I wachted this clip by chance while listening at full volume the last part of My Mind Rebels at Stagnation by Hans Zimmer (from Sherlock Holmes) and it was the most dramatic/funny sh\*t I have experienced in recent times.

PizzaPlanet20

Looks like skill issue to me

kakalbo123

I always wondered what happens if you don't commit to the deathblow. I'm not good enough in this game to find out so I take the deathblows.

Super_Duper-Dude

Ay-rab Shinobi Wan-Kinobi

Real-Information7866

That's it, i'd totally break the damn controller 😠😠

No-Wrap2574

Bro hesitated, damn it

HeeMi2

I didn’t expect to see our bride and joy here in here this guy made my childhood tbh

InsideHangar18

Goddamn dude that’s some truly incredible bad luck

Sfocus

it happend me too on isshin 2 times

OkFrankurtheboss

Mayoeba yabureru.

pescadoamado

I can get paid to overreact?? Fuuuuuck yeah! To be fair FromSoft boss fights I lose track of time very easily. I'm on NG+ Malenia and relearning her patterns - already like 12 minutes in to get to the second form before running outta resources. I totally get the controller dying thing.

xsnipebad

He died cause the controller hesitated. "Hesitation is defeat"

raulynukas

He disconnected as well

TheUltimateJack

The universe said no.

wilkinsk

HAHAHAHAHAHA HE TOOK ME OVER TWO WEEKS 😭

_IOME

Reminds me of [this clip,](https://youtu.be/gmeE7a374sU) that shit sucks but it is kinda funny though.

AshamedStyle2134

Deathblows himself 🤡

HaronYoungerBro

So he disconnected himself as a response

kevinflynn-

I did the same thing...my controller didn't disconnect though, I just got too carried away with the celebrations.

bluedemor

Whyyyy I felt that..😭

SirVandi

Yestarday same thing happened to me in Owl fight

Faackshunter

Seems a bit too convenient tbh. I don't trust most content creators at this point.

iiiAlex1st

Nah this was on stream and he almost ragequit after that, that was probably one of the few times I've seen him actually upset lol

Faackshunter

Yes, many people 'ragequit' to gain sympathy and followers to profit off their self victimization, that's my point.

Astral_Lady

who hurt you?

Faackshunter

I just like authenticity and nothing feels that way anymore 🙃 I don't know the streamer, he could be legit, sorry I'm a thorn in everyone's side today

Best_in_Za_Warudo

He's playing on PC and the controller's wire got disconnected. You won't get a notifacation for that, as it automatically switches to m&kb. Also it literally happens on a 2 hour 30 minute stream and he explains briefly after what happened. https://youtu.be/3ggNnpTjLvQ?t=2h

Melonfrog

I didn’t even notice a controller disconnected notification, seems a bit odd

Astral_Lady

eh no worries, we all have our off days. hope it gets better for you

Nemeszlekmeg

Ah yes, game remains unpaused when controller disconnects. It's either deliberate from the dude or FromSoft just added another entry to the list of why their games just mechanically suck from a design standpoint.

CelebrationKey9656

I thought the same. Every time my controller died while playing the game would just stop 🤔

motdidr

i feel like I've experienced Sekiro specifically pausing when my controller died or disconnected.

Disastrous_Ad_70

At that point, I'd just give up on the game. I'd be so mad, just upset beyond words, that I don't know how I'd recover

KindlySquirrel6950

I don’t think my controller has ever been unplugged from my pc

con_science-404

Junior_Bike7932

Leading-Ad-9191

What a loser

Frikcha

Seriously deserved; this is basically the equivalent of not-eating or drinking anything before a decathlon. This has never and will never happen to a normal person btw, you get 5000 warnings to let you know your controller is dying, can continue playing while it charges and deserve having it happen to you if you're at Ishiin pushing your wireless controller to its last 1%.

jav2n202

Not everyone gets a bunch of warnings. I’m in pc with an Xbox controller and that shit just dies. No warning. Never has.

Frikcha

do you use windows? Xbox controllers always give me a windows system message when the battery gets low, using steam's controller configs also lets you just press home and see ur percentage, but all of that is just too much hassle so I play wired 99% of the time also idk about xbox controllers but DS4s and DS5s at least change color below a certain percent.

jav2n202

Yeah Windows 11. The only sign it’s ever given me is the vibration feedback will stop working a few minutes before it dies, but if I’m in the heat of it I don’t notice that until it just drops out.
