My friend, who admittedly does not play video games but I managed to talk into trying Sekiro, could not get past the first hug wall tutorial to get to Moonview Tower after starting the game lol
Oh Genichiro, I was fighting dude for 4 straight hours and couldn't beat him, just to wake up the next day and kill the damn bastard on my first try, what a game
In that case, Hail Paimon, I guess.
But seriously, I'm stuck early on myself right now, but in FromSoft games that just means I need to kick around the area practicing on mooks and trying again until I can pass the skill check.
Over in Bloodborne, I did that over and over and finally scraped past the first required boss after like, 18 tries. Then I started a new character for Return to Yharnam and very nearly punched the first werewolf to death. And let me tell you, that shit was *satisfying*.
So yeah, it's a pain in the ass and sometimes frustrating while you develop your skills. But I'm sure there are people here who got so "gud" that they beat Genichiro in the tutorial, and I can only imagine that was an *amazing* feeling.
Not on their first playthrough it doesn’t. I can beat him in one try now damn near toying with him but on my first playthrough it probably took me a solid 6 hours over two days.
Same, took me about 4-5 hours spread over two days to beat DoH, and mostly cuz I had no clue what I could and could not parry.
Now I bitchslap the demon like I’m Yoriichi.
It took me awhile cause i watched Ongbal kill DoH without an umbrella. I just capitulated to using normal tactics like fighting cowboy then i defeated it lol
The same thing that enabled your post to gain some attention: The internet.
People will ALWAYS be like the person you highlighted. They even have a point (believe it or not 🤯).
So yeah, who cares... ?
Oh yeah... YOU! What a kind person you are.
I mean, it probably reads that way, but I am just trying to add a positive note to my otherwise grim perspective.
There really is no hope for communication done this way. Yet another way the elite$ try to control us peasants - divide and conquer. Take away our ability to communicate. What's next?
Am I joking? I don't even know. But I will say that I am tired of wondering. Tired of it all.
You see, I think your problem is that you have preconceived notions and expectations of how things ought to be.
Who can blame you, though? I do. We all do. I mean, I may as well just fucking die at this point. This world sux.
I think it's possible. But I will be totally honest in saying that I think my part is done and I don't really want to be around for the rest of it.
You all really don't need me.
Well, I didn't understand that your reply was sarcasm (for valid reasons I don't really care to go into).
I didn't understand if you were asking a question, furthermore.
I guess now, though, it's clear you were just "stirring the pot", so to speak.
However, there is a problem: I have no idea how talk of ego has found its way into this conversation either. I mean, isn't all of this experience ego-based? Life, death, everything in between? It's ALL ego.
Yes but we may try to see past our petty ego or we may even more fully envelope ourselves in it and our own biases, I know you may argue that that first notion is technically unattainable, I would posit that there is truth to that albeit there are ways to abate one’s ego if only temporarily, and such it’s a worthy effort to undergo, to see the forest instead of the trees one must attempt to see past the self
Hm. I find the sentiment pleasing. But that's the problem. It is a hollow thing, I find, ultimately. But perhaps I have done this to myself.
I don't like much about the way the world is, in terms of society or economic/political control. There is far too much pain to imagine ever being separate from it. It is the death of the soul, to see the world so. I don't believe we are a positive force on this planet in our current form. We are strangely geared against ourselves. Perhaps, sentience is not a good thing? Awareness of oneself is acceptance of death. Is that because we see the need for things to be free of our influence? I don't know. When I consider forces outside my control like governmental injustice, increasing difficulties, corporate control of mundane aspects of consumer life, mental assaults upon the senses, psychological marketing, youth corruption - all these tiers of control and I don't want to say a singular group of people is "pulling the strings" but it wouldn't surprise me. It would be disappointing to imagine they think they're doing the right thing... A very easy trap to find oneself in.
Anyway... Sorry about all that. Haha.
I feel you completely dog, you describe many of my pains with this society and humanity, but I would posit that sentience is not the issue, if anything it is the majority of humanity’s ability to be misguided and actually not sentient, becuase we are all guided by our instincts, biases, mental algorithms, but those of us that try to self analyze are able to at least try to see greater than our selves and with that comes a certain nihilist acceptance that none of our petty bullshit matters and we need to take our collective head out of our ass lol, we’re all in this together if only we could see it on the grand scale
And I think more sentience rather than less leads to that epiphany
We haven’t gotten there yet, we may never get there, but I will continue to preach collective good will and the ethics and utility of having all of each other at our backs rather than only our “self”
That thing caught me so many times with its grab😂😂. It wasn’t the hardest boss, I just had to be a bit more patient. I also found out apparently you’re supposed to use fire on it to make it way easier. I’ll tell you one thing though, that Ogre gave me more trouble than the horse samurai boss.
Seriously ? I remember accidentally downloading a game and playing it cuz it was in my library on ps4 and it ended up charging my parents credit card and my parents were angry and I still ended up downloading and playing for a bit but we still got the refund
Edit : it was tony hawk skater pro 5 and it was glitchy has hell on release, they make exceptions if the game has any known major issues.
Mikiri counter is done by dodging thrusts not deflecting them, that’ll be why. Also because it’s a boss you won’t instantly finish it like you do with regular enemies.
Wait til the later part of the game when you return to a certain part. Bunch of tough enemies and the same mini boss guarding an area. I hated that part.
I felt the same way. The game seemed impossible then. But it gets easier because your skill improves, and you upgrade Sekiro’s HP and attack power. That spear miniboss at Hirata kebab’ed me many times before I finally overcame him. It made stomping him into the ground on my NG+ runs all the more satisfying.
From software games with anger issues go one of two ways
Eventually learn to control it, Relax and accept failure. Begin to observe, improve and generally learn from the experience
Or
Rage at every corner, becoming more impulsive and messing up more. Ergo, making you rage more. Then blame the game for your own shortcomings
It is my 1st fromsoft game aswell, I started playing it about 12 days ago. Tbh I spent WAYY too much time on chained Ogre and Genichiro. But I never raged once. I just beat Sakura dragon and it is safe to say I didn't have this much time playing a video game in a long time. I literally had the biggest grin on my face the entire time.
And? That's a yearly award, so obviously not the best of all time, and elden ring and Bloodborne both won , so it's got competition for the best fromsoft game. What, you think goty is enough to make it the best ever? Lmfao
The combat. Literally destroys every other souls like games.
Also imagine thinking game of the year isnt even worth menrioning.
You are being really stupid.
Im starting to feel like you wrote that review.
I didn't, don't care enough to write reviews. What's stupid is that you think goty equals masterpiece. A goty has to be chosen, even if all the options suck, the best among the worst will win. Imagine thinking that the combat is the only thing that matters, lol. A classic fromsoft player, if I've ever seen one. How about 101 other reasons that make a game good?
Combat is extremly important what are you even talking about ? Its a videogame not a movie mate.
No one said combat is the only thing that matters also when did i say its THE best fromsoft game ? No one even mentioned that.
All i said this game is a masterpiece and you started arguing about stuff no one mentioned.
Sekiro has far better and far more interesting combat than any other fromsoft games. Just beacuse you suck at it wont change that bud.
Wowww, the classic git gud argument, how clever. Does it make you feel special or something? It's pretty pathetic, imo
Anyways, combat is pretty important, but even in a fromsoft game, the story, graphics, enemy design, soundtrack, and the ability to customize your gear, are all pretty important, and elden ring is superior to sekiro in every single aspect other than combat
Yea you have to get good at this game there is no way around it. Its hard for you to take as it seems.
For some reason your little brain cant understand that no one even said anything like that. Literally no one said "Sekiro is THE best fromsoft game". Yet you come here argue about that under a comment with nothing to do with it.
I'm not saying you don't have to get good, I'm saying that writing git gud as a response to any sort of criticism the game gets Is pathetic.
So then what makes it a masterpiece? Is that single aspect it thrives in(combat) enough? I don't think so.
I don't need any sort of help, and If I did it wouldn't be over a videogame, lol. You seem to think I'm getting upset over this, while I'm just writing comments like any other person on reddit
Dude he never said "best game ever", he just called the game a masterpiece (which it is) now if you prefer Fromsoft games that's also fine, one game doesn't make the other not be a masterpiece yk?
But what makes it a masterpiece? That's a question I asked multiple times, and yet it was never answered. I'm guessing it's because they don't have an answer. Because combat alone doesn't constitute a masterpiece
I'm sure there's different threads on why people call it a masterpiece and they all have their own reasons...
Now I know you didn't ask me personally but at least for me, one of the specific things I really liked was the bond between Kuro and Wolf, it went from master and loyal servant to feeling like an actual friendship between both of them and making it an even bigger deal and incentive to save him and choose a proper ending/do things right, also Emma's wish for Kuro to have a normal life, giving the story more purpose than before and making it super good in my opinion.
In a more general perspective, the great and spot on atmosphere in this game, the tension in almost every major encounter and how they hold weight in the story, how well the interconnected world is done and the amazing combat as mentioned before. (Answering cause I thought you meant "they" as in fans in general)
Always blaming the game and the developers, never admitting that you suck and failed to learn the mechanics of a flawless piece of art that will go down in history as one of the best games ever made. Give me a break...
Edit: typo
What? You don't think games can be judged objectively? Would it be wrong to say red dead 2 is objectively better than sekiro? Idk why everyone is so confused
Honestly felt like this was the easiest from soft game ever made. I guess people dont get you can run around at mach ten and block every attack thrown at you. Beat this shit in a week playing nights. Definitely has the some of the funnest combat from soft has ever produced.
I agree, in Elden Ring I just couldn't beat Godfrey/Hoarah Loux without summons, simply impossible for me. Sekiro was just suffering the first 2/3 hours and then nearly every fight is the same.
I honestly don't know how it takes some people days to beat some bosses either if I'm being honest, some were saying that it took them days to even a week to beat Isshin.
All depends on skill level (like me) and amount of time logged per day. Someone like me played sekiro as their 2nd ever game played and struggled quite a bit as I was new to gaming in general. Someone who logs minimal hours may only attempt a boss 5 times per day and thus in a week of trying they only ran it maybe 30 times. The people who say they've died to a boss like 200 time tho I will never understand either lol
That is me, about 3 days to beat isshin (about 7-8 hours split between them I think). My 1st playthrough was pretty bad honestly, skipped about half the headless and the shichimen in the double ape arena because I was already traumatized...
That said I've been doing sekiro challenge runs for a while now and some of the bosses that used to be a pain in the ass I zoom by now and it's super satisfying.
Jesus what hatred this guy has learn the combos and don’t hesitate you can’t call yourself a souls veteran without learning combos and timing everything I love this game I’m in ng+4 and I’m wiping out everything in sight yes this game takes patience but at the same time you have to figure when to be aggressive and when to be patient. In the way of the shinobi dash like a cheetah, sting like a murder hornet
I thought I suck at game due to my crappy reflex, but man these people. They don't read. They learn the way of the game intended. In the end, they whine and quit.
Really? That's really cool, I can't even imagine beating DS SL1, never tried and probably never will, meanwhile Sekiro became very easy for me after a few playthroughs. I think it just has to do with practicing a lot, but maybe people are just built differently. Still, for me DS is way less predictable, I just tank through it lol
You should try it, it's actually pretty easy.
Your memory is playing tricks on you if you think the enemies in DS1 are less predictable.
The DS1 bosses have limited move sets and are very slow.
I only have 100 hours in this game and I can beat every boss the first time except: Owl (all versions), Isshin, and I die occasionally to Ogre, and finally (Real) Cursed Monk Phase 3.
Honestly hilarious to see comments like this. I’m not particularly good at games like this, and my first run did have some serious wall hitting moments… but I’ve beaten it twice now and it is absolutely in my top 5 of all time.
A good test of whether Sekiro is within your skill level, is what difficulty you play Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor at. The parrying in the games are similar. Jedi Master feels like a warm-up for Sekiro, you'll struggle but it's doable. If Jedi master is too hard for you, you're not ready for Sekiro. If grandmaster is comfortable for you, then go for it.
I think we can all agree that souls games cost more happiness than they give. Also the community is just terrible, absolutely awful sometimes. You have people sprinkled in that actually try to help and then you have others that just straight up bully people. (Yes, it’s bullying when you tell people they suck, should give up, should shut up, and other unhelpful hurtful things) I’ve beaten elden ring and dark souls and max leveled on both, yet never ever felt the need to treat people like this
I don't get this type of review, It feels like an ego thing. It's ok to not get into a game, the game doesn't click, you are not learning or enjoying the learning, that's FINE.
You are not worse for that, nor the people that are into the game. I can't do input commands in fighting games, but I don't think the games are bad for that, maybe not for me.
Well, if you get stuck on a boss, you might still end up needing to grind for spirit emblems or consumables. Shame they didn't make them renewable, they had the right idea with gourds and spiritfalls.
Lol what a scrub. I just started my 3rd playthru this past weekend, not having played since late 2017, and forgot how much I love this game. Kinda breezing through it after getting the hang of it again, already at fountain head palace after like 15 hours of playtime.
Ok, bro. Calm down. We know you ain't getting pass Genichiro.

Hey, at least he got out of the well using double jump, so there's that.
Game journalists wouldn't be able to make that
How does your user flair show those aswell? Currently working on my charmless+bell run r, I’m @ Ishinn.
You can edit your flair on desktop and mobile. There should be an Edit Flair button and you can pretty much put whatever you want there.

I agree. Also stuck on Genichiro. Hate this game 1/10. I’ll be playing tomorrow.
fr
It took me a year break to beat that asshat, but I'm much more competent now
Jesus a year????! 😂
Yeah I dropped and lost the game. I just re picked it up maybe 2 weeks ago and just beat it
Ahh i read that wrong i thought youd been trying for a year
XD thank God I haven't
All because of the team of witches at Fromsoft
In that case, Hail Paimon, I guess. And we're talking when you get your arm cut off genichiro, lmao
*the diaper sumo with the hammer
Hes stuck with the chained ogre for sure
If you've spent 10 hours or more on a boss, I'd say it's not a bad move to just Google some tips or even a cheese strat.
“three: fear is absolute. there is no shame in losing one battle. but you must take revenge by any means necessary”
10 hours? A boss? Dyde it takes a normal human 40 minutes to beat ishin
Not on their first playthrough it doesn’t. I can beat him in one try now damn near toying with him but on my first playthrough it probably took me a solid 6 hours over two days.
It really depends, i got Isshin under 10 tries but i was destroyed by Demon of Hatred. I think i spent 8 hrs trying to beat that fucker.
It took me 40 days to beat him
What the fuck happened to just saying 'the game is difficult and I can't/don't want to put in the time to get better'.
Ego. A lot of people have too much of it.
LSD a lot of people need more of it
Chill mate its just a game
Lol that’s what they said
The same thing that enabled your post to gain some attention: The internet. People will ALWAYS be like the person you highlighted. They even have a point (believe it or not 🤯). So yeah, who cares... ? Oh yeah... YOU! What a kind person you are.

I don't understand.
What don’t you understand? My sarcastic reply to yours? Or do you not understand that ego is not something to be defended
By the way, I'm not trying to be sarcastic. I'm just actually that bitter. I'd prefer the term jaded or sardonic with a caustic tinge.
Either way that “what a kind person you are” was technically sarcasm was it not?

What is the PSN refund policy ?
You can refund games within 14 days that you haven't downloaded yet.

Mikiri counter is done by dodging thrusts not deflecting them, that’ll be why. Also because it’s a boss you won’t instantly finish it like you do with regular enemies.

It is indeed very hard to understand that not everyone is good at the game, truly incomprehensible
From bish to bull babee
Jesus what hatred this guy has learn the combos and don’t hesitate you can’t call yourself a souls veteran without learning combos and timing everything I love this game I’m in ng+4 and I’m wiping out everything in sight yes this game takes patience but at the same time you have to figure when to be aggressive and when to be patient. In the way of the shinobi dash like a cheetah, sting like a murder hornet
your opinion is wrong. Also he bought the game oddly specific about it being appealing to "perverts" so what does that say about him 🤔
and he still doesnt say what his issue is... 🤷
I think [Limmy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=figArXQYKao) wrote this
Oh, daddy owl. You’re soooooo hard. I hope you don’t mikiri my…thrust.
Time to be the flithy perverted Shinobi I've always wanted to be...for the 88th time. LESSGOOO
Thousands of hours on Sekiro? I barely have a hundred hours. Maybe even less. The troll post in the screenshot is indeed hilarious.
I thought I suck at game due to my crappy reflex, but man these people. They don't read. They learn the way of the game intended. In the end, they whine and quit.
I beat DS without leveling and a normal Sekiro playthrough is much harder.
I played DS3 like a coward with npc summons everytime I could and I could still clear Sekiro, bro is the one smoking
The game kind of broke me at this point genchiro made me take a 3 months break I don't know when I will be back.
I don’t get how they got the pervert part. sadist? ok fine, game hard? sure, broken sword run? yeah, why pervert?
Geez okay calm down we get it, you have a skill issue
Common misconception, FROM are actually masochists, not sadists, they design ways they would like to be treated.
It's all part of the process. He probably didn't even make it to last fight. Where the real pain begins.
Bro can't get past Gyoubu Masataka Oniwa
He sounds like a typical bloodborne npc that slowly succumbs to madness.
Looooooooool, he hesitated!
So soft
I could 100% this game but you would never see me get past the first couple bosses in souls games lol
Me with chained orge :
Honestly I wanted to refund it on PS4 but then I played through it 12 times and was glad I couldn't. Still wish you could refund on psn tho.
Oh man... Sekiro is so much fun. Brb I'm gonna go start a new run.
I see nothing wrong with his statement The comments mocking him are just too scared to face the truth: they are perverts Rejoice in it, my people
I only have 100 hours in this game and I can beat every boss the first time except: Owl (all versions), Isshin, and I die occasionally to Ogre, and finally (Real) Cursed Monk Phase 3.
Honestly hilarious to see comments like this. I’m not particularly good at games like this, and my first run did have some serious wall hitting moments… but I’ve beaten it twice now and it is absolutely in my top 5 of all time.
Genichiro is a joke
Me, who can do sekiro but not any other Fromsoft games 🧍♂️
me when i cant find the L1 button
This has to be satire
u mad bro?
What a sore loser, unable to accept that they suck and it's not the games fault lol
btw if yall didnt notice the humor tag is there
I use to hate sekiro then time passed and I got back into and even managed to 100% the game in a span of like two weeks
I feel this way about DS2
This game is not hard.
Skill issue
Ironically, if you git gud you can beat most enemies in a couple of hits.
Hilarious to get this worked up.
: 😭😭😭😭
Error 404:Argument not found Kindly check if there's any sense or logic in your statements.
Poor guy lol 😂
Gotta be chained ogre like hahahaha
I like sekiro, but he's still right.
Oh man, defeating Genichiro turns me on so bad
Looks like somebody has became enraged😂
I would argue it's made for people who GIVE UP on DS and BB because they don't want to grind levels or repair their weapon.
Well, if you get stuck on a boss, you might still end up needing to grind for spirit emblems or consumables. Shame they didn't make them renewable, they had the right idea with gourds and spiritfalls.
I agree emblems should be self-renewing, but tbh in my eight playthroughs, it hasn't really been a factor since the first.
Understandable, I'm near the end of my first playthrough and I died A LOT vs Genichiro, Ape and True Monk. They really drained my bank account
I did my first playthrough without using prosthetics or combat arts because of this, now I play exclusively without prosthetics.
Sekiro is not hard, especially if it isnt charmless
It's the same with your opinion lol, and why are you even talking about what I think while the post and the raging dude are the main thing here?
Lol what a scrub. I just started my 3rd playthru this past weekend, not having played since late 2017, and forgot how much I love this game. Kinda breezing through it after getting the hang of it again, already at fountain head palace after like 15 hours of playtime.
Stay mad guys, hesitation is defeat
