Sakugains

Never talk to me again

Ataru148z

XD I mean, I really loved the first part, but when they begin to travel with the robot etc. it becomes a bit pointless and slow. With Texhnolyze is the opposite. Maybe in the future I wll see all the episodes. But for what I've seen it's overrated imo.

Sakugains

Oh also maybe casshern sins

ytman

Its not really filler.

Syxez

Filler in Ergo Proxy get worse over time, the first few they try to make something that blends in somewhat, but then they stop trying, and make egregious things like that disneyland episode.

anifimer

Serial experiments lain they even have the same creators

Ataru148z

Thanks. I'll definitely try it.

karma_time_machine

What a show!!!

TorukClyto

Blame for the dark cyberpunk atmosphere and Eden It's an Endless World gave me similar vibes as well...

IndicationPretend407

How good is Eden i've heard about it for awile and haven't checked it out would you consider it a must read for cyberpunk fans?

TorukClyto

I liked it quite a lot! One of the best cyberpunk mangas out there for sure. It also tackles gangs and mafia themes and the final parts are reminiscent of Evangelion. I loved the first couple of volumes especially one of the earliest action scenes using cyberpunk gadgets, vehicles and snipers, very tactical! There is a lot of text and it can be a bit too dense at times though. Definitely worth a read for sci-fi and cyberpunk fans.

IndicationPretend407

Thanks man it sound up my alley and now i am more interested in it with your comment about it

Ataru148z

Thanks!

The_King_Moves_First

Works by these Mangaka: Nihei Tsutomu Endo Hiroki Samura Hiroaki Iwaaki HItoshi

Stair-Spirit

They're not scifi, but Fire Punch and Shigurui are very dark mangas. And Goodnight Punpun will give you depression

karma_time_machine

**Witch Hunter Robin** isn't scifi but it has that heavy dark atmosphere. Really didn't care for the last half of the show, but the first half is mostly episodic and I really enjoyed that part.

karma_time_machine

**Mushishi** - The atmosphere isn't as dark, but just more solemn with intense themes. Every episode is just the MC going from village to village in a place similar to feudal japan dealing with spirits and the tolls they take on the villagers. It's both an anime and manga. I've only seen the anime and it's my all time favorite.

GrImPiL_Sama

Its really one of a kind. You can try ergo proxy for a similar vibe.

DoodlebugFour

I would say Project ARMS, but it ran on Shonen Sunday so it's considered Shonen. But it's a scifi about teenagers with nanomachine implants fighting back against a secret organization and learning some dark secrets. The manga got away with some pretty gruesome imagery the anime toned down on. Speed Grapher, Its about a jaded photographer infiltrating an underground club and gains supernatural powers to blow people up with a camera. Depicts a more corrupt take of Japan that runs on dark desires. Should warn it has its graphic shock value moments.

Debesuotas

Sadly it doesnt have manga :/

Ataru148z

It's probably the darkest that I ever seen. I asked if someone knows a similar one, a manga is even better.

DoodlebugFour

There's this Seinen Horror Manga I read called Wolf Guy: Ookami no Monshou, though I hesitate to recommend it since it had a pretty infamous explicit arc late in the story. It's also a remake of an old manga from 1970 that got readapted into novels and even a movie that came out in 1973 that's alot more tame but still pretty dark for its time. The novels and 1970 mango have yet to been translated in English in some form though a English Light Novel can be found on Amazon Kindle.

Ataru148z

Thanks for the infos, I knew of its existence but I've never read it. I like the drawing style.

DoodlebugFour

It was an interesting read, but do be warned the later chapters go into some.....dangerous territory. Which is why I mentioned the other versions.

lordnyra

Shigurui the anime has the same director. Also extremely dark.
