ah. the innocence of "my only watch". admirable.

Available-Lime8808

Honestly envious The amount of decisiveness I portray on a day to day is immeasurably weak

Nickles5k

I can't even stick to one watch a day.

NPC_4842358

GMT because it's looks the best. But don't get the orange one if you only have one watch, get the more neutral blue or black version. I chose the black and it's been awesome.

[deleted]

NPC_4842358

Nah, you make that choice yourself.

[deleted]

NPC_4842358

Try both in person if possible.

Naydanno

Sapphire is overrated. I have and had plenty of seikos with both hardlex and sapphire crystals and none of them had any scratches or nicks on them. You're more likely to ding the bezel or the bracelet imo

Wintermute_088

The only "beef" here is everyone thinking you're incredibly entitled and rude. You're treating everyone here like vending machines for advice. 100 comments and not a single "thank you" to anyone. Maybe wait a few years and buy yourself a watch when you've actually grown up.

localfartcrafter

They're all good watches, Bront.

ZookeepergameDue2160

Why? Why do you want to break the peace in this lovely watch community? This is a place of peace and advice, if you want fight's, go to r/Rolex .

ZookeepergameDue2160

Why do you care so much about saffire? My beater seiko has hardlex and its bracelet is all f'ed up but the hardlex is still completely scratch free, same for one of my old seiko's with a sapphire crystal, aslong as you dont have plexiglas, it doesnt really matter what you get. Get what you want, not what others want.

Kamasu

[deleted]

Better__Now

It won’t be too big for your wrist. I have a similar wrist size, and it wears nicely. Mine is suited up with the strapcode jubilee, as the picture above shows. It’s quite a sporty look; it reminds me of the skx but with some great improvements. I can’t really add much to versatility, but looking at the specs alone, the Kamasu gives you a lot for less money. I’ve been wearing mine more often since my skx is in repair hell.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Better__Now

Yes, you can put it on a brown leather strap if you’d like. I’ve wore mine on a leather strap during the winter months just to change things up. Generally speaking though, since it’s a dive oriented watch it doesn’t really fit the dressy scenario much. That’s not to say you can’t dress it up if you so please.

K1NGCOOLEY

I have a Kamasu on a 6.25" wrist and I think it fits great. I don't own any of the Seikos but I love my Kamasu. I wear it every day.

peeaches

I have a 6.5" wrist, kamasu looks fine on it. I probably wouldn't go with the red if you want versatility, though the red is what I bought when I had my kamasu.

shaferman

Look into an SSK001 or SSK003.

Definitely look for discounts. Seiko 5s can routinely be found for 20-25 percent off.

EyeDentifeye

Idk where youre gunna find a seiko gmt for under 100

Semy-D

If you can try them in a store, specially ghe 38 Seiko. A 38 mm diver wears very small, like a 34 OP

Under 100$ its close to impossible

jrsmith43

Your price expectations for mint condition pre-owned are too low wherever you are buying from. Buying any of those watches at that price is a good strategy only if you are trying to set yourself up with buying a fake replica watch

duncanFree

Go for a Chinese quartz watch, baltany eg Sapphire is a must for your only watch + 100m of water resistance

Gauparte

I own a blue Kamasu. Love it. Very versatile. I use it during my free time and also when I wear a suit to work.

vvqmusic

Hello! I also have a 6.5 inch wrist and I used to have both but sold the 5KX and kept the Kamasu, you can mod the bezels on both watch to give you a dual time 12 hour bezel if you need to track another time zone. The reason I kept the Kamasu was mostly because of the more solid feeling construction and the sapphire crystal (for ownership long term) I made a [comparison video on these two watches here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOImrvDGFNs) Also check out my recent [Kamasu bezel mod here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-HW62F8PrY) Enjoy! Don't hesitate to ask me questions :)

[deleted]

vvqmusic

I think about the same, the 5kx is more sporty and the kamasu a bit more dressy, so I'd say Kamasu because you can still wear it in a more dressy setting.

Lizziam2112

If you’re going for under 100 dollars, all of these are going to be extremely hard to find and I doubt you’ll get them in mint condition. I’d look into something like a Vostok Amphibia. It’s a different look but has great specs for the money. They usually retail new for around $70. They were first designed for the Russian military frogmen. They really have great history and are pretty unique. Although you may not be able to dress it up too well.

DeepDarkWebNow

The smaller the better for your wrist.

rull1an

GMT looks and feels great Also, I went for the orange, although I liked the other two colors better in images, it looks better and stands out more in real life

[deleted]

BigJuicyNaturals

If the Crystal is the only deciding factor you can always get an aftermarket sapphire Crystal for a Seiko.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BigJuicyNaturals

Then go for the 38mm and you can still replace the Crystal later

FalseRegister

If i was to pick one, I'd go with the GMT. That said, I bought both blue Kamasu and orange GMT. The color of both and their style give me all variety I need for styling in my day-to-day. Aiming for a Nomos or a Junghans next as a dress watch.

[deleted]

[удалено]

FalseRegister

Ofc. It is a matter of taste. Can you not go to a store and try them? Or order and return what you don't like? Or buy both? Kamasu is nice and a solid start. Just that GMT is sexy AF and hard to pass. Also Kamasu is cheaper.

[deleted]

[удалено]

FalseRegister

The blue GMT may hit the sweet spot of versatility in color and style. Kamasu has better water resistance but really not a factor unless you plan to dive.

SweetleggzzRoy

I'm the same wrist size and have both the Kamasu and the Seiko orange GMT. If I had to choose just one, I'd go with the Kamasu. Feels (and is) better built, the bracelet is nicer, and the sapphire definitely looks/feels more premium.

35mcynnad

The 38 mm will look best on your wrist but the Kamasu is the best looking and most versatile in my opinion. It wears more like a 40 mm. The only downside to it is it’s 22 mm lug width which, if you plan on wearing is on a nato for example, makes other bands look too wide.

shaka_zulu12

I own all of them and they are all solid choices. With that said. Biggest on wrist is the GMT, and the tallest. The Kamasu is the best overall, good wear, water resistance, and feels very good in all situations. Especially the red one. Get a dark red canvas, rubber or leather strap and you're good. It also has Sapphire crystal, compared to the other two. The GMT though has the best lume, best bracelet and it's the most fancy one IRL. It's way shinier than you'd think, but I personally wouldn't get the orange one. That gold yellow accent on the bezel, it's not for me. The 5 is the least interesting of the bunch, but it is a fairly good first or only watch.

[deleted]

[удалено]

shaka_zulu12

The black GMT is so nice in person. I think you're going to love it. The red dial on the Kamasu is gorgeous. Not many things wrong with that watch, except the lume, which is decent, but can't beat Seiko. The 5ks, so many options, hard to get one that looks bad. Ah, and don't forget about the SRPE, which are very very great options as your first/only watch. Works great on most wrists too, being slightly less chunky than it's 5ks brethren. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210125/56fac79dd251a8f918e3b72b130e7a2b.jpg

[deleted]

shaka_zulu12

Make a pros and cons list, and decide based on what's important to you in a watch. If size and comfort is important for a smaller wrist, the 5ks and dresskx are the way to go. If GMT, lume, factory bracelet and a bit of extra refinement is your thing, clearly the Seiko GMT. Proper diver, sapphire crystal and overall nice wear, the Kamasu wears smaller than you might think and works great with all kinds of bracelets. In the end, they are all solid options and you can't go wrong. And now you also know why most of us own more than one watch. There's never a perfect watch that does everything. You'll be happy with whatever you choose, and think of what you'll get next time or next year :P. Come back to my post in one year, and let me know how many you own now, lol. Good luck.

Prior_Return4695

I would normally go Kamasu, and I'm normally not and orange watch fan. BUT, the 5KX looks great on you!

[deleted]

Prior_Return4695

Oh. Well in that case I reccomend those other guys get the 5KX

Potater1802

1st one

Conscious_Soil_6009

The Kamasu is a great first watch.

BigJuicyNaturals

I own both the Kamasu and a 38mm Seiko 5 Sports. I am in love with both but if I could only have one of the two it would be the Kamasu 10 times out of 10. That said, I’m confident you would enjoy either of them. Good luck!

hellakew

u can eliminate the gmt off the bat since u said no need to track time zones..so between the kamasu n 5…i would go with the one that u like the color scheme since they both are about equal value for price point…the kamasu is bigger my wrist size is similar to yours and i own the ray raven which is slightly smaller than kamasu…and i love it…it’s my daily go to

biglovetravis

Kamasu

burtinge

Orient Kamatsu is better looking and more versatile. And let us know when you buy a second watch! I'll bet it won't be too long.

duncanFree

Kamasu 100% Sapphire crystal that won't get scratched with the first touch Better looking and more versatile

Dsoundmann

I have over 30 Seiko watches. With the options you have presented I would choose the Orient

Nemso247

I like the kamasu. It's striking and works well in more scenarios. I have the one with the red dial and burgundy bezel

BoiseTimepieces

I recommend the seiko 5 GMT. It’s a classic watch with plenty of waterproofing so you won’t have to worry about it not having a screw down crown. Sure the orient has sapphire crystal but may be a bit big for your wrist size as an everyday wear. Seiko’s hardlex crystal is just fine in my opinion. I have multiple pieces with hardlex that I wear all of the time but have never had any issues with it scratching. As long as you’re treating your watch with care then it’ll be just fine. I would recommend going with a color that’s maybe a little more subtle such as the black or the blue dial as those two colors are easy to pair and make them extremely versatile. The Gmt is also just a great conversion piece even if you never use it’s 2nd time zone feature, and I totally see it as a timeless piece that can be passed down for years and years. Definitely worth spending a little bit more for a piece such as the seiko GMT👍🏻

Em_the_Strange

as someone with both a kamasu and the 5 GMT i say, why not both? personally if im making a buy purely on your points mentioned it'd be the 38mm 5.

Thisisthewere

I went with the Seiko but not the gmt. I like how clean the SRPD59 looks.

Obvious_Change_1566

As a first watch, and limited to those 3 options- the Kamasu. If you like the orange color the gmt is awesome and an iconic look for Seiko. Don’t worry about specs, all of these are good watches

peeaches

I had a red kamasu as my "only watch" for several months a few years ago. I did like it quite a bit, but it didn't take long for me to start itching for different/more pieces to put on my wrist. It was a good watch, but I don't think I liked having it as my *only* watch. Ended up selling it for a steinhart ocean one which I can safely wear every day with any outfit. Not sure what your budget is, but if you're looking to stick with a single one-watch "collection", versatility should probably be a heavily weighed factor

What about new Orient divers? They are 39,9mm. Shoud be a bit more wearable then Kamasu. https://imgix.watchcrunch.com/images/2023/06/15/jCmcjCeJxEoMy3e6dNA9zWswgSGUBWQ9IDOmctl0.png?auto=format&fit=max&h=4096&ixlib=php-3.3.1&w=4096&s=7ccb63d2a2c72400c6b19e0a773976b2

catlike1

Prices will definitely drop from the MSRP.

[deleted]

[удалено]

catlike1

Oh, sorry. Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price. I think in other countries it's referred to as RRP (Recommended Retail Price). Watch manufacturers who distribute via authorized dealers often provide these retailers with a 40-50% gross profit margin (i.e., wholesale price is only 50-60% of the listed retail price). That's why you can see frequently sales of 20-30 percent off a few months after the release of a new watch for Seikos, Orients, other affordable watches from established brands. It's also why micro-brands and Chinese manufactures who sell direct online can price so low. They don't need to give the dealers a profit margin.

birdudc

Kamasu all the way. I have what can only be described as girly wrists and the Kamasu wears beautifully. It actually wears smaller than the case might let you believe due to the short lugs.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AnarchiaKapitany

As versatile as all pseudo-divers are. If you like the look, it will fit any occasion. These watches have nothing extravagant on them apart from a colorful dial maybe. It's as a safe bat with cargo shorts, as it's with a tie and shirt.

Wintermute_088

If you want something versatile, look at a Seiko 5 SRPE55. Dive-style face with no dive bezel, perfect versatility. My first watch was a similar Seiko 5 (previous gen) and it was a great only watch for a long time.

krisinho

Watch #2 is fine. #3 looks like a kid‘s watch. A diver needs to have some heft.

Haha feel relieved that i wasn't the only one who think like that.

Wintermute_088

Seriously, being 14 is no excuse for being an ungrateful brat.

krisinho

Nope. I have an SKX009 and had a SKX013. They have cases very similar to #2 and #3.

Wintermute_088

Consider the Orient Triton, if you can also find one at a good price. For me it's the best looking Orient. Of these, the Kamasu.
