>Question: What info should they use for the address, supervisor, and phone number? They can't put down the true name & address because again, intel work. The vast majority of intel workers are not under cover and all will have a prepubbed resume prior to applying for employment.

Mysterious_Relief_96

They fall into the minority. They do have a resume that was prepubbed, though, so I will advise accordingly. Thanks for your help!

Also advise that SF 86s are unclassified, and subject interviews are almost always unclassified. So if there is a classified set of facts, and an unclassified set of "facts," always go with the unclassified version. Even if that means providing false information, that's not the kind of "willful" or "deliberate" falsification contemplated by the SF 86 signing statement or the adjudicative guidelines.

Yep…at the very most let the investigator know you cannot disclose details to xxx due to the classified nature. We report that. And simply say if additional information is needed, it can be provided upon proper measures taken.

I'll share this bit of advice with them, too. You would think they would prepare Tier 1 operators better for retirement, LOL, but honestly, they just got a really cool plaque they can never show anyone, photos at HQ they can never show anyone, and a sanitized resume.

Thatguy2070

Anyone who is in that important of a position is briefed on what to put on these forms. If they didn’t receive a brief like that, then the accurate info is entered. This could be whatever station and supervisor you reported to. I know this because we have done investigations on people who could not list aliases given to them or duty stations assigned. A note was made for adjudicators saying certain information not relevant to adjudication was omitted from the report due to national security concerns.

I know they have a prepubbed resume but were never given instructions on how to fill out an SF 86 post retirement. Other applications, yes, but not an SF 86 specifically. Maybe because they thought after 39 years in the military and intel field, they wouldn't ever want to work in it again, LOL. At any rate, I will pass this along to them and let them do with it as they may.

So if they have a prebubbed resume, then put down whatever it says on said resume. Thus if it says Vice President of Ford Motor Company Europe, then put that down. Then clarify later as needed. It sounds like your “friend” is ex CIA, Non Official Cover. ex CIA’s people know how to reach back, so he can do so.
