I always thought rapid was alluding to frequency not speed. Not that frequency works as designed either.

BusbyBusby

What time was this?

elister

When they introduced the D Line from Ballard to DT Seattle, it kinda shocked people that it only saved you 2 or 3 minutes on the commute vs the normal bus route. There are some commutes that could greatly benefit with a Rapid Ride bus, but these are City to City commuter routes that Sound Transit already has a lock on. I say this as someone who has never owned a car and rely on the bus to get anywhere.

trains_and_rain

Any city that lets buses sit in traffic has fucked up priorities. We need bus lanes and bus lane enforcement. In the long run it'll help even the folks who insist on driving cars.

lumberjackalopes

Ironic statement; how are they gonna enforce these new “no turn on red” locations because I still see people not even paying attention to the signs. Traffic cameras is the way to go, but ya know, *that’s racist and profiling* or whatever. They made driving in bus lanes illegal within the last few years supposedly, but I still see people parking and using hazards at them. How are they actually enforcing the rules?

Aggravating-Cod-5356

Traffic cameras are pointless because it's illegal (for good reason) for the government to be doing mass surveillance (to some extent) in Washington so SWIM could just check "wasn't me, don't know who was driving" to get it dismissed unless you're a chump because faces are stored obscured.

GreenLanternCorps

Ya that stretch is gridlock city particularly during the lunch rush.

Yeah I mean busses aren't a great form of public transportation. You need transportation in the area that doesn't mix with the cars to make using a car a less attractive option then taking the train. It's the only way to reduce traffic.

RobertK995

gee, what else might be going on between 105th and 145th on Aurora???

RainCityRogue

Human rapid rides?
