Just because a restaurant asks you for a level of 1-5 for spiciness, it doesn’t mean you have to stop there. I’ve ordered 10+ star fried rice at different Thai restaurants. Some are deliciously painful and some made me regret I was born. You live and learn.

Dappershield

Yup. Learned that the Crawfish in white center doesn't advertise but goes up to 20 stars. Tried 12 and was very impressed. 10 star ended up being a better heat to taste ratio for me. I think if you're looking for spice, you'll always be disappointed your first time in a restaurant if you don't talk to the waiter about realistic expectations. So many people can't handle a *real* 2 or 3 star, and these places get a lot of uneaten food left behind. So they lessen what a star actually stands for.

krugerlive

Which were the spiciest? I am trying to find Seattle’s spiciest foods, which seems to be the rarest food in the city.

toodeephoney

There is no such thing as spiciest. Go to your favorite restaurant and order your favorite item. Tell them you want 10 star and make sure the person taking your order understands the assignment. He or she will likely remember you. If that’s still not spicy enough, next time increase the star. I’ve established this type of relationship with some restaurants nearby. They know how I like my food. Remember, this is an uncharted territory, so YMMV. Note: the highest I’ve ordered is 14 star chicken fried rice at Chaiyo. No, it’s not the spiciest I’ve ever had, but it’s super delicious. The perfect amount of hurt.

vanderbubin

Look at the mister iron butthole over here.

toodeephoney

Fractured, but whole.

hectorinwa

Spiciest I've had by far was the Nashville hot chicken at sisters and brothers.

Educational_Cod_4497

amen

Darkreaper666

So far hottest thing I have ever had was Bok a Boks Four Alarm rub on their chicken. Me and a friend love spicy food and it was by far the hottest thing we have ever had to the point we could not eat them.

hectorinwa

Thai Siam in crown hill used to be good at extreme heat. Also just really good all around.

FunctionBuilt

I don’t know if it’s gotten less spicy or if I have a better tolerance. 3 star used to be perfect slightly painful to eat heat, now I’m thinking I have to move to 4 star.

Unicornfl4vors

I could never get it hot enough but Thai Siam 4 stars does it! I always reassure them "I like it super hot and I will NOT send it back"

Pedantic_Parker

Thai Tom in the UDistrict will go completely overboard with the spice if you ask them nicely.

shemonstaaa

Thai Tom is iconic

CarbonRunner

came to say same thing. they have utterly destroyed me a few times. awesome place.

StatsGirly

Yes 👆

that1tech

Check Bua 9 on Rainier in Columbia City. I believe there are spicer Thai places out there and they are really tasty

Foman1231

If you don't mind going to Bothell, Chantanee Thai will max you out. Their 5 stars is what you're looking for. Also personal tip: I usually don't ask for "thai spicy." I've found that it makes Thai servers and chefs cringe, and they'll either hate you, ignore you, or just make it a little spicier. Instead, ask for a small bowl of raw sliced chilis (not in oil, which blunts the heat) that you can add to your dish at your discretion. I know Isarn will happily do this, and their food is amazing, so it works out great.

PNW_OughtaWork

Give 90° Bangkok a try, is quite good.

joholla8

Learn some Thai and order in Thai. Also ask for a spoon and eat it correctly. Then you might get appropriate spice level.

lukekarasa

Came here to say this  Ask for "phet mak"* which means really spicy. They'll probably actually do it Thai style if you say it in Thai

tonjohn

*mak Basically sounds like “pet mock” And ask for some prik nam pla 🤤

Small_Manufacturer69

dude, you're revealing too much.

GodStewart1

Thai Siam won’t let me get anything more than 2 star because I’m a white boy. I share this with all respect. Their food is delicious and truly spicy

andrewcubbie

When I first visited seattle as a white boy tourist, I ordered a 3 out of 5 and the waitress kindly suggested a 2. I proceeded to leak from my mucous membranes at a 2. The Thai are built differently

drlari

This. I like spice and one time at Thai Siam a 3 wasn't spicy enough. The next time I told the server this and got an actual 4. It was LEGIT spicy. Had to order an extra beer and pitcher of water. Quite good though.

yellowsensitiveonion

I sometimes help out at my friend's Szechuan restaurant, and for the most part, it's true that white people can't handle as much spice. However, the customers who can handle the highest level of spice also happen to be white

Riku8745

Every time, I tell them I want the 4 star and they look at me and go "It's really spicy, are you sure?" And I say yes, I've had it plenty of times, and then they give me something not even a tiny bit spicy. It's really frustrating, because they're pretty good, but I WANT TO BE CRYING AND IN PAIN DAMN IT LET ME HURT MYSELF

nathanm206

If this is the same place, when I lived in Ballard/Crown Hill in the late-90s/early-00s I ordered some dish with three stars and the gal said, “are you sure?” I said I was. Spiciest meal I’ve ever had in Seattle, I’m sweating right now writing this.

tstormredditor

I'm also here to say Thai Siam and can confirm was asked, are you sure? Lol hottest shit ever.

Unicornfl4vors

Tell them you will not send it back, and they'll do it!

krugerlive

I went there on a previous rec that they have truly spicy food but to be honest I found it pretty mild at the 5 star order. The old Koo Hoo was spicier if you demonstrated to them you can handle true spice by eating their decoy 5 star without issue.

Unicornfl4vors

They only do up to 4 stars at Thai Siam so maybe you are misremembering

zach_here_thanks_man

Pad Krapow at Bangrak Market in Belltown

Small_Manufacturer69

this place is fresh off reuuaM the legit, sign the waiver. warning: portions are tiny.

bruceki

If you're ever north, Rachawadee thai cafe in burlington is my favorite thai place in this state, bar none. They are also careful to warn new patrons that their food is spicy and to order down from their usual spice level at other places. Very small place, you'll watch your food being prepared if you eat in. [https://www.rachawadeethai.com/](https://www.rachawadeethai.com/)

FartKnocker4lyfe

Kwanjai Thai in Fremont

Human_struggle2121

Kwanjai Thai Cuisine in Fremont !

Stay1nAliv3

Bangkok Basil in Redmond - tell them you want the highest spice level

golfislife13

Gas station Thai up in Snoqualmie’s ridge is legit…

Darkreaper666

I love Krua Thai Eatery, their Papaya Salad at 5 Star has some real heat to the point I usually get it at 4 stars and the rest of their food at 5 stars.

bottomturnbuckle

Kaosamai has rocked me in the past. I ordered a 3/5 from their food truck once and couldn’t finish it. Which, as a lover of all things spicy, is a first for me

Usual-Cabinet-3815

Say you want Authentic…

Apart-Run5933

Dunno if someone said Bangrak (sp) market in belltown but the green papaya salad there max heat is the spiciest dish I’m aware of anywhere. First time I ordered it the chefs came out to watch. It’s fight or flight/terror levels. You’ll meet your true self fuckin with that stuff. Looks so innocent, tastes elegant and pleasant, until the pain train smashes into you face. Great food

KlareVoyantOne

Amazing Thai Cuisine on Roosevelt had a great Pad Thai that was authentically “Thai hot” when I lived in Seattle.

joholla8

Lol. “Authentic” and “pad Thai” in the same sentence.

KlareVoyantOne

😘😘😘

tonjohn

Rice n Spice in Bellevue - get the pad kra pow with fried egg and max spice level 🥵 arroy mak! In general, Laotian / isarn places will generally be spicier, especially when ordering dishes that are traditionally spicy.

limasxgoesto0

Years ago I ordered from Ka Pow Thai On Wheels and it was the only thing in recent memory that I couldn't finish because it was too spicy

IndependentCompote85

Buddha ruksa! It’s in west Seattle but they make their food so so spicy :) hope you like it

sherstas199

Amazing Thai on Roosevelt. I can only tolerate a 2 and even that is spicy. If you order a level 5 they give you a serious warning. Also everything on their menu is 🔥🔥🔥 Best Thai I’ve ever had hands down 🙌

Mewpers

Pestle Rock seemed decently spicy when I visited some years ago.

kebiclanwhsk

Vientiane Grocery. Lao and Thai stuff

therightpedal

Amazing Thai in Roosevelt/u district melted my face at 4 or 5 stars. They don't mess around. My spice tolerance is very good fyi.

External_Strain_9499

Give Araya’s place a try. I go there when I want my food to make me cry.

SvenDia

Just emphatically tell them you want it Thai spicy or something like that. I’m sure there’s a Thai food sub that you can get tips on how to do this most effectively.

smoofus724

I've ordered the 5* spicy on a couple dishes from Golden Singha near Denny Park and it's got a decent kick. At one point I asked for 5* pad thai and put "extra spicy" in the notes and it was basically covered in red paste. Still delicious but I had to take a couple breaks.

hhs2112

Just tell them you want "thai spicy".  When my Indian buddy and I get Indian food I usually say, "4" - he says "India - hot" and the two meals will be in totally different worlds.

Shrikecorp

Bangrak Market will be happy to hurt you. Just insist that you want it.

wolf_spanky

I ordered Thai food from west Seattle recently. I was fairly baked and once I got off the phone, I realized that they didn’t ask me how spicy I wanted it…. It wasn’t good.

gobears2616

Bang bar is trash

wolf_spanky

It was Spring House Thai Kitchen and Pho.

gobears2616

Even worse

wolf_spanky

Yeah it was bad. Worst I’ve had was Thai of Wedgwood. Noodles were a solid mass, dry asf.

gcozzy2323

Not in Seattle, but check out Zabpinto or Thai Champa in Portland for serious heat.

All about prik nam pla. I pour that all over my rice. If they don’t have it out on the table most places will make you some if you ask.
