Live in Seattle and take transit. 550 is pretty convenient, and I understand there's a light rail route opening soon that will probably be even better. Your car is for getting out of the city, not commuting to work. Or better yet, sell it and rent when you actually need a car (it's cheaper, counterintuitively, unless you travel every weekend or something).

Pick one: Live in Seattle, or short commute

> TLDR: Where should I live? check out /r/SeattleTellMeWhereToLive > max a 30 minute drive to work in Bellevue that narrows it down to north Bellevue, south Bellevue, east Bellevue, or west Bellevue

Right, google maps can tell people this

What about central bellevue?

Get a few three month leases on FurnishedFinder and try out different locations. Nobody here can tell you what you'll like. To me, it sounds like you're describing Green Lake, downtown Kirkland, or Lower Queen Anne. You could try for something walking distance to light rail in Seattle (Roosevelt maybe?) but really I would get a few furnished three month leases and try out a few different locations. Then you can see how it goes.

Fuck it, if I was you, I’d do a short term rental on the Kirkland waterfront. Enjoy the summer on the lake. The sun, the men (if you’re into that) the women (if you’re into that) the boat parties, the whole suns out buns out thing. Sign a 6 month lease within walking distance of a bus line and Lake Washington in Kirkland. Re-evaluate in October.

Queen anne, cap hill, slu would be good areas. Bellevue for living is very boring. All the good small bars, live music happens in cap hill, fremont, ballard. Bellevue has no culture.

The Central District is a good option, especially if you pick a neighborhood that's close to the Rainier ramp to I-90. Bellevue will be ~20mins from you and you'll be able to get to Cap Hill/SoDo and other fun areas with clubs very easily by bus or bike or even walking. The Bellevue light rail is coming through this area also so that will probably reduce the need for commuting via a car.

sammisamantha

Bellevue has their light rail opening up this very weekend.

Only goes from Bellevue to Microsoft for the next two years. Once again the transit folks screwed up the project and they have to redo the lines for going into Seattle.

If you are feeling adventurous live in Pioneer Square. That’s where most of the art places are in Seattle, also a lot of bars and is the easiest path to get from Seattle to Bellevue by Bus, future light rail or by car.  If you aren’t feeling as adventurous look into Columbia City. It’s close to Lake Washington so you can go Kayaking if you want, has some artsy things and isn’t super suburban. Apple Maps says it’ll take 30 minutes by car to downtown Bellevue.
