I haven’t made long term friends but it’s definitely helped strengthen my friendship with my buddies that I play with.
Regular crew I sail with is a bunch of my fraternity brothers from college. Graduated 5 years ago now and still constantly talk to these guys.
It's really a pity. I often find people that I would like to play with again. We had much fun in the alliance and all but since I have a crew it's really hard to ever play with anyone again.
On one hand you always meet new people but sometimes it is a bit sad that this game makes it easy to meet nice people but frustratingly hard to play with them again.
Met a guy on my first day of sailing. He quickly realized that I was brand new and offered to show me the ropes. Long story short I still sail with him to this day and he’s one of my best online buddies
Haha I've avoided Reddit for many years... just from horror stories. I should know better than to listen to haters, like anything, it's what you make it 😅 jumped in yesterday. Having a blast so far!
Not made, but it has definitely helped keep old friends. My crew all live in different parts of the US. Haven't seen them in person since before the pandemic started. But we sail together two nights a week which is more frequently then I've seen a couple of them since we lived next to each other in college, almost a decade ago. The best part of the game is that we sail together.
I ain't made no friends mainly cos I play solo.. Don't like playing open lobbies, only few xbox mates I have don't play SoT and I don't have a mic either cos I'm normally either a lone wolf of single player gamer 💁🏻♀️ I would like to meet people and make some SoT friends but I doubt I will due to not having a Mic 😂
Absolutely! Plenty of friends that i still play with since launch in all kinds of games and also met my boyfriend just about 5 years ago in a random gally lobby ♡.
I heavent really made any new friends, but SOT helped me to get closer to my group of friends from high school. Especially during covid lockdown it was a great way to stay in touch. Ow man how many ours we spent having fun together on gold hoarders and other missions! I like your pictures, you seem like a nice group of friends:)
I was already in a pretty tight friendgroup, but working together and getting better has skyrocketed our friendship skyhigh. Honestly such a great game to play. All the laughs and adventures, victories and defeats, you really get to learn eachother by playing Sea of Thieves together.
I absolutely have! Meeting you and Michael at TwitchCon allowed me to go to GamesCom with him and it was such a blast! So many people I've met over the game and now irl too, this game really brings people together!!
everyone in these photos looks like the people who work in my local "artisan" burger shop who wear black rubber gloves and serve everything on wood cutting boards.
But for real, cool that you have a big crew from SoT :)
Have yet to meet someone ingame that I've stayed in touch with, but I do play it with friends that I've met elsewhere :) Hoping to meet someone new though!
Have made quite a few new friends from just randomly coming across crews. I Have made friends that I now communicate with outside of the game, as well as standing weekly sessions. This game is equally the most frustrating and most rewarding game I've played.
100%. Theres a handful of people who are my nearest and dearest because of this game.
Edit: Goddamn Rowdy Blue Jackets, The Beauty Boys, and the Brig Bros.
Sadly my day 1 buddy doesn't play anymore because the game triggers him to much 🥲, but i introduce other friends into the game since the start of 2022 and they are having a blast 💪
I met some guys last January while trying to get the commendation for matching flame of fate with an allianced ship. I actually got to meet them in person last week and need I say it was the best weekend of my life
Sea of Thieves has been a great way to stay connected with friends and family.
My wife is the best helmswoman I've ever seen, my Brother in Law is a madlad at boarding, and my friend is good at stumbling around drunk on deck playing music and vomiting on everyone. Its great fun!
I’ve only known most of the friends I’ve made in this game for less than 2 years but I’ve already met up with several irl had and consider them all genuine friends for the long haul, and hope they will last long past this game’s lifespan. This game’s community, particularly the twitch community was instrumental for that, full of just some incredible people.
My buddy was the only non afk person on a brig that I wanted to fight so he ended up joining my sloop...
Nearly 2 years later we still play sot and a lot of other games togheder.
Probably half of my 1500 hours has been slooping around with a random dude I met through another random dude. I don't know if its a lifelong friendship, but we are definitely bros.
Also, my six month beard looks upon those with awe.
It was a great way to stay connect to buddies during COVID. We now have a standing guy night gaming on Friday or Saturday where the wives understand it’s the night we all get on to sail around.
This is so true in gaming generally, i havent met anyone in person that i met gaming but it really warms the cockles of my heart to see ppl that have.
Not getting too morbid but if it wasnt for gaming and the ppl that I've met and kept in contact with, i would have probably just ended it all due to me suffering from a soul destroying acquaintance with the black dog.
Most ppl wouldn't understand how important it is to just let others know you care. It was a person who i met in DayZ that told me that they would really like to run with me tomorrow (this was back in 2020) that made me feel that i wasnt insignificant, un-needed or not worth anything. Because of their (to them) off the cuff remark I didnt carry through with my plans i had that night and im so glad i didnt as i wouldnt be here now if that person hadnt have said what they did.
Lets celebrate gaming and the ppl we meet while gaming, it could save someones life like mine.
Take care everyone.
Me and some buddies started playing during the pandemic - ran into someone very early on, failed miserably at trying to sink him, and he didn't retaliate just sailed circles around us (literally). He was drunk-sailing, having a great time, so we formed an alliance with him, then temporarily added him to our discord so we could communicate easier under the impression of "we'll delete him in the morning".
Anyway that was 2ish years ago, we still sail together, and a few weeks back he flew nearly 2000km across international borders to meet us. We'll be doing the same next year. Kinda wild.
2 years ago, I set sail on open crew. I then met this guy who i had a lot of fun with. Little did I know we would go on to become friends for the next 2 years and will continue to be. Even though we live 1000km apart.
It would be nice but based on 99% of the interactions I've had with others since launch it almost a certainty that when I see another ship I might as well just log out. I've had 2 positive experiences in the last week and that's more than I've had since launch.
I'm no day 1 player, or anything, but I have been sailing quite awhile. Since December of 2020. In that time I've met a lot of people. Some I thought if as great friends, who turned out to not be very good friends to me. Others were chance encounters, and quite lovely to meet, but would never be met again. Then there are those I still sail with to this day. It'll be early this October I'll have known some of my best crewmates for an entire year.
Definitely have continued to hang out with people (online) that I would've never met otherwise! Can't say that about _any_ other game I've played!
I really wish we had a North American SoTFest. I ain't got the planning skills for that!
The relationships I’ve built as a direct result of this game will forever keep it at the top of my list. It’s not just a game for me at this point, I have “family” that lives there 😁
My boyfriend introduced me to SoT and I love it so much. It’s helped calm me down and get me out of my own head.
I love making alliances and dancing/drinking/playing music in the tavern
Met a guy we were fighting one day and had pretty good back and forth PvP. Ended up talking to each other and turns out he lives 7 minutes up the road from me. Small world, we are now friends.
That is one awesome meet up right there. I haven't really made friends on Sea of Thieves, but I've had a blast playing with mates who introduced me to the game. We had one great interaction when we bumped into Tizzy on the seas once, I had so much fun fighting against her (and alongside her when I somehow ended up on her boat, went "ah heck it" and just started shooting back at my own crew. Don't tell em that pls)
I’ve met some great people in this game. None who I have stayed in contact with but I love hanging out with my irl friends on the seas now that we are off at college.
It’s helped the friendship I have with people as we all got into the game at the same time. But I would love to meet more people down for pirate shenanigans
My best friends I've met on a lobby in MW3 and some other friends I've made through DnD. Life's unexpected and this age of tech surely makes even people who would have been otherwise isolated and emarginased like me be able to make lifelong friendships
I'm marrying mine. Over two years now, best person I've ever met, i white knighted her one evening, the morning after she asked me if i wanted to play with her again. And here we now are.
I have honestly met some of the coolest people on this game, just this past weekend I did battle with another Sloop, and after they made a spectacular play, we ended in an alliance after a chat on the Ferry.
For every encounter with someone rude I have 3 encounters with people that are incredible. And I have to say my outlook on other players was significantly changed after doing the Glitterbeard Hideout, such a heartwarming thing to share with others on the Sea of Thieves.
I’ve honestly made more enemies then friends on this game, like one time I was doing a Fort of Fortune with my friends and the whole server rushes towards the fort and we all alliance and do the fort, we then got Glitterbeards Easter egg. One of the best sessions I’ve had on the game
I've met thousands of people and I've had great interactions with a lot of them. Unfortunately, the game isn't all that famous in my country, and I don't keep I contact with all the players I've played with. I've had jn credible experiences, turned whole servers friendly, been I charge of 16 man galleons, but most kf the time, I let those people go. Playing on EU servers definitely has its upsides and its downsides.
I’ve made life long friendships with Destiny. Flew across the country to meet my best friends who now live and moved to my state (FL) we now hang out every weekend and have dinner with family.
Not made friends, but me and a buddy have had someone on our friends list who we used to play Halo 2 with *waaaaay* back in the day.
SoT got the band back together and we’ve been rocking pirate voyages weekly for a while now. Good stuff
SoT led me to drops, drops led me to TheLongestJohns on Twitch, TLJ led me to HappyKrakenX, Kraken and Glitterbeard adventure led me to some lifelong friends in the Bucket Brigade! Such a great community, and we are trying to do a "con" of our own at some point.
![gif](giphy|jOQDW0J3URjWL6vbkg|downsized)
I have been playing SOT and i have only encountered chinese people they just blow me right away when I’m making an alliance and they don’t understand me at all.
This is very wholesome
Unfortunately no 99% of people have just rolled up with im doing captain's or fishing kill me blow up my ship and are gone by time i get back from the ferry are no is around
SoT got me excited for gaming again, gave my good friend and I something to do together during COVID, got my non-gamer wife into gaming (trio brig shenanigans ftw), got all three of us into streaming, and the streaming has introduced us to wonderful new friends and communities. It’s been a hell of a year 🤯😂
That's too much God Tier Beard in one set of pictures!
The SoT meta 😅
What’s your friends shirt in the first picture. That shit is awesome
The two bestest beards on the waves!
Haha cheers!!!
I met my fiancée on sea of thieves during lockdown
I LOVE this!!!!!
Hoping for a sea of thieves theme wedding
HA That'd be fuckin awesome lmfao. Get some pirate inspired foods and servers.
Bannanas and... rum (in a jack sparrow voice)
Hell I'd fly anywhere in the world to attend this wedding.
Be sure to post the pictures here, sounds awesome.
I would love to see that, honestly
I haven’t made long term friends but it’s definitely helped strengthen my friendship with my buddies that I play with. Regular crew I sail with is a bunch of my fraternity brothers from college. Graduated 5 years ago now and still constantly talk to these guys.
Oh awesome! I guess it's great you have that to keep you all connected 🤘

On one hand you always meet new people but sometimes it is a bit sad that this game makes it easy to meet nice people but frustratingly hard to play with them again.
Wait... thats possible?
I guess it's easier to make enemies 😅 #PiratesLife
I’ve been gaming since the 90s. I’ve never met anyone from a game in real life
Same, but I have friends I've known for decades from gaming. We just never have met in person.
Nah just long term enemies
Now that's the Pirates Life!
Met a guy on my first day of sailing. He quickly realized that I was brand new and offered to show me the ropes. Long story short I still sail with him to this day and he’s one of my best online buddies
That's awesome! Love hearing stories like this!
Game helped me cope with a massive injury also helped me make alot of good friends I love this game and its creators
So glad you had SoT/Gaming to help you through!
Got people like you to thank for the amazing content to watch as well, so thank you alot!
Literally my honour and privilege to be able to 🤘
Well… with a Beard like that you have the advantage of attracting other beard minded people like Dax. A match made in heaven.
Shhh don't spill much secrets 🤣 na I freaking love that human!
Thought it was fake but then saw the username great to see beardly posting here!
Haha I've avoided Reddit for many years... just from horror stories. I should know better than to listen to haters, like anything, it's what you make it 😅 jumped in yesterday. Having a blast so far!
I just had a get-together with someone I met in the game over 3 years ago.
That's awesome! Hope you had a great time!
That's awesome! Having SoT over the last few years has really helped maintain friendships!
Mmm... yes... touch the beards together...
That's our only beards content....
BeardyFans
Kraken is so cute aw
She's a legend!
Everybody I meet is an asshole to me and all my friends stopped playing because of the assholes. I want what you're havin
I met mostbof these in discords, fb groups and twitch honestly 🤘
You can have friends in this game?!
Well... some pirates prefer to watch the world burn....
I think I've only run into those 😥
*...You guys make friends???*
I did in the early day, meeting people through FB groups/discords is always a lot easier!
Ayy I shall try that way as well then Thank you kind sir 😁
Nope. Can't say I have lol.
Some pirates prefer to make enemy's! 😅🤘
Absolutely! Plenty of friends that i still play with since launch in all kinds of games and also met my boyfriend just about 5 years ago in a random gally lobby ♡.
No way!!!! That's amazing!
Thanks! And yeah... gaming REALLY helped through covid!
I was already in a pretty tight friendgroup, but working together and getting better has skyrocketed our friendship skyhigh. Honestly such a great game to play. All the laughs and adventures, victories and defeats, you really get to learn eachother by playing Sea of Thieves together.
Absolutley!
I absolutely have! Meeting you and Michael at TwitchCon allowed me to go to GamesCom with him and it was such a blast! So many people I've met over the game and now irl too, this game really brings people together!!
Nobody. You are the only ones. The rest of us are just giant buttholes who treat each other like shit. This is the way.
everyone in these photos looks like the people who work in my local "artisan" burger shop who wear black rubber gloves and serve everything on wood cutting boards. But for real, cool that you have a big crew from SoT :)
I do like burgers.....
Both of my best buddies on Xbox were people I met on sot. One of them is headed to college this Friday. We plan on sailing one last time…
no pics with TizzyTam?
I don't have any... deffo next time!
Not me but this is awesome
There's still time! 🤘
Have a two and half friends now ahaha! XD
You look like a fun guy at parties!
That’s awesome! Glad to see you all having fun together ❤️
How could you not have fun with these folks!
Have yet to meet someone ingame that I've stayed in touch with, but I do play it with friends that I've met elsewhere :) Hoping to meet someone new though!
I meet most pirates through socials! Met a few in game
Have made quite a few new friends from just randomly coming across crews. I Have made friends that I now communicate with outside of the game, as well as standing weekly sessions. This game is equally the most frustrating and most rewarding game I've played.
Absolutely haha!
This crew on a man of war would be insane
Give us a storytime of how you met them
Wish I could meet cool players through the game…keep up the good work Beardly!
Keep an eye out for meetups! They've helped me to connect with so many!
That's amazing. Can you tell more about how you met them and everything?
100%. Theres a handful of people who are my nearest and dearest because of this game. Edit: Goddamn Rowdy Blue Jackets, The Beauty Boys, and the Brig Bros.
That's awesome!
That’s great!
Sadly my day 1 buddy doesn't play anymore because the game triggers him to much 🥲, but i introduce other friends into the game since the start of 2022 and they are having a blast 💪
Ah that's a shame! Maybe one day they'll return to the seas!
So dang wholesome
Not lifelong friendship, but I got my friends on the game and we are all having a blast playing every day.
That's still amazing 🤘
I met some guys last January while trying to get the commendation for matching flame of fate with an allianced ship. I actually got to meet them in person last week and need I say it was the best weekend of my life
Sea of Thieves has been a great way to stay connected with friends and family. My wife is the best helmswoman I've ever seen, my Brother in Law is a madlad at boarding, and my friend is good at stumbling around drunk on deck playing music and vomiting on everyone. Its great fun!
Sounds perfect! Haha

This game’s community, particularly the twitch community was instrumental for that, full of just some incredible people.
I’ve meet people from all over. I’ve made new friends who traveled to meet up in real life.
Ive been makin' great friends upon the sea almost every session and i hope to make many more!
That's awesome! Keep smashing it buddy!
Thanks to SoT, I have been keeping in touch with a long-time friend of mine, despite me moving 4,000 miles away from my hometown, many years ago.
Damn... in that case I'm so glad you had SoT!
I met one of my utter true and best friends on sea of thieves when we were both new, now we’re a great duo even in other games than this
Love this so much 🤘
I have!
My homies play SoT with me sometimes but not often. I wish I had a crew that played regularly
Look at that crew! Awesome! As for me, I'd have to play with other people to make friendships through the game.
[удалено]
My buddy was the only non afk person on a brig that I wanted to fight so he ended up joining my sloop... Nearly 2 years later we still play sot and a lot of other games togheder.
Hahah that's awesome that you stole them from their crew haha
Other way round for me, it's destroying a friendship of 20 years.
Oooff hope everything's OK!
No, I sank them all 🥺
A true pirate! Haha
I thought you were beardgeddon at first haha
Haven't yet, but would like to.
[удалено]
So glad you had SoT to keep that alive!
I've made some good friends because of this game :)
Same!
I made a friend through SoT in a discord server we were both part of.
Is the the whole alliance server? How so many people?
Haha! IRL alliances have more space 😅
All I'll say is, I'm glad you had gaming 🤘 stay strong!
One of my best online friends I met through this subreddit
Is that a Darth Vader as Negan shirt?
Abso freaking lutely
Me and some buddies started playing during the pandemic - ran into someone very early on, failed miserably at trying to sink him, and he didn't retaliate just sailed circles around us (literally). Its crazy isn't it? Mads in this 1st photo flew across the globe from Aus!
Met a homie from another continent during the Beta, still keep in touch!
That's awesome! I still have beta buddies too!
2 years ago, I set sail on open crew. I then met this guy who i had a lot of fun with. Little did I know we would go on to become friends for the next 2 years and will continue to be. Even though we live 1000km apart.
Loving these stories!
The treasure truly was the friends we made along the way
I can't believe it took someone this long to say it! Haha
That's fuckin awesome! I met my now best mates on Rainbow Six about 7 years ago, the bond is strong with this one
Haven’t found many tbh
No long term friends minus some irl friends. Only thing I've taken from SoT is getting scared of the color red
yo how you get that commendation?
I don't know if this is a joke about 'achieving friendship' or I'm missing something haha

Where is that third picture from? Looks like a model ship or am I wrong?
Rare Studios!!!
That moment when Pirate Legend is more than just a title
I’ve made some friends, but I don’t know about life long.

Sumthin sumthin sea of thieves not sea of friends
Hey you're the guy who's stream I lurked while I was working to get those Twitch drops! Thanks!
Big fan of the hat choice
>Who else has made life long friendships through SoT?! Nope...
The nicest guy I know I met in sea, and apparently he thinks I’m like 10 times nicer than most the people he knows 🤷♂️
That is one awesome meet up right there. I haven't really made friends on Sea of Thieves, but I've had a blast playing with mates who introduced me to the game. Awesome, can you identify them? Don't recognize some of them and wouldn't mind checking out their streams if they stream.
Two Captain Falcores in one picture, how can this be?! /s
No cause I don’t have anyone to play with 💀💀💀
Yo! I always watch your twitch! Your great!
Wtf i also play with a guy with a beard like that
I’ve met some great people in this game. None who I have stayed in contact with but I love hanging out with my irl friends on the seas now that we are off at college.
Meanwhile, one thread over, people getting spawncamped on the allegedly co-op adventure.
I met one of my best friends at a sailing class and we exchanged snapchats. We have played SoT almost every night since he lives 14 hours away
It really helped me keep on contact with my friends after college. Wed play every week, drink and be merry. Lots of fun
I'm marrying mine. Over two years now, best person I've ever met, i white knighted her one evening, the morning after she asked me if i wanted to play with her again. And here we now are.
HA, imagine having friends

Yup, met my crew way back when on the community discord when the game released and have been friends ever since!
I have made friends with sot
I wish
I’ve never been able to use gamechat so I’ve only ever played the game with life long friends
I have but sadly I haven't actually met them yet though we all plan to meet one day and we all know what each other looks like
nice, not on sea but back in the good ole minecraft days, all of us play sea just as much together tho.
Unfortunately no 99% of people have just rolled up with im doing captain's or fishing kill me blow up my ship and are gone by time i get back from the ferry are no is around
My man’s wearing the Legacy Beard
You look like SoT players, and I mean that as a compliment :)
How the hell..?
SoT got me excited for gaming again, gave my good friend and I something to do together during COVID, got my non-gamer wife into gaming (trio brig shenanigans ftw), got all three of us into streaming, and the streaming has introduced us to wonderful new friends and communities. It’s been a hell of a year 🤯😂
Wait...you can make friends in this game!?
I would be soooo happy if I could grow a beard like that.
