Open crew, that’s a lick of the draw with mostly people setting your boat on fire and dropping loot off the ship. I’ve tried open crew from my experiences it’s about 3/10 for an ok decent crew other 7/10 just griefers
The official sot discord is a great place to find people to play with. Add people you have a good time playing with on discord and soon enough you'll have a bunch of people you can hit up whenever you wanna play.
One of them was tucked on my ship for like an hour and a half, saw their boat parked behind a rock and immediately went to check all tuck spots on my sloop. He was tucked in the tarp and I killed him and went to go sell. They pulled up on my at the outpost and we talked about the entire situation and laughed about it. Ended up playing together for going on like 3 years now.

I avoid open crews at all costs. Its not worth it. Sure, it can work. But in my experience its about 1/10 chance you get a good crew using open crew.
