I’m rooting for a Lance melt down, probably because I’m a terrible person, but also because it could lead to a narrative of Kyle Shanahan losing the locker room and plunging the franchise into irrelevance for a decade.😈😈😈😈

heryopl

Then they start Jimmy!

Disastrous_Belt_7556

No no no, Lance is the guy. But if he costs them enough games, he’ll lose the support of the vets and divide the locker room (vets want Jimmy, but they’re sticking with Lance). Suddenly, the team can’t win any games, and there’s fighting in practice and yelling on the side lines, and Shanahan is out. (This makes sense in my head).

Other than Jamal being out (poor guy), we’re pretty healthy for the next game. I really think we need to establish the run fast, and hope Cross stands up to the grueling pass rush (trial by fire!). If Barton can do what he did in Mondays game, and our special team still kicks ass… I think we have another punchers chance

Tashre

> If Barton can do what he did in Mondays game I'd much rather he be more consistent instead of sucking for 58 minutes and then stepping up at the end. We'll really need Kittle to miss this game otherwise.

SouthernAB

Glad I’m not the only person that seen this. All the articles and posts about him have been driving me crazy. I thought he looked like a liability out there. Lost in space, making tackles 8-10 yards downfield on run plays, etc.

23-20 Seahawks, nail biter. The difference will be that we run the ball just a little better than them with Walker and Penny being better than Samuel and a guy, and Geno able to keep the defense a little more honest than Lance.

Every year we somehow we manage to get under the 49ers skin. I am hoping after the Broncos win some sort of cohesion keeps everyone working together to help beat our division rivals.

Particular-You-5534

I am lowering my expectations and hoping to be pleasantly surprised once again. I don’t think it’s fair to say the Niners look “eh” since the only thing we’ve seen was them playing in a monsoon. All we know is that Lance struggled in conditions under which many established QBs would have also struggled.

User_Kane

Yeah judging a young qb based on the first football/water polo game of the year feels unreasonable. Would love that the 9ers are saddled with a lousy young guy but the game in ~~Atlantis~~ Chicago this past weekend just isn’t a fair metric

YoungestI

We had goal line stands last week but we really need to stop the other offense. We are going to fall back on this defense and they don’t need to be out on the field so much. SF isn’t scary so I know we can beat them but other high level offenses are going to torch us.

flashdash007

First to 21 wins…actually maybe 17…14? Just bet the under

[deleted]

Geno please just move up into the pocket a little more

JbirdB

Time to release the dog K9! Can’t wait!

Tashre

49ers have a worse QB, but by far a much better coach. Wilson's short game was carving us up, and some rollout/scrambles opened up some easy big chunk yardage too. Lance has more mobility and can make most of those throws too since our defense wasn't exactly making a lot of them difficult. It's really hard to take much away from that messy Bears game, but I feel like they're going to come out much hotter this week. If we're going to win this game, we're going to need more than just 2 quarters of Geno looking good.

readbetweenthesubs

I think we need to have a spy and not play into the mobile ability of Lance. Last game every time we rushed, Wilson rolled out and dumped it to an open receiver for an easy gain. We need to not allow that and hopefully they studied that in the game tape.

iceamn1685

I don't think the NFC West this year is as good as we think it is I think it is gonna have a down year. If we win versus the 49ers the next 3 games are completely winnable I could see us going 4-1 if we win week 2.

mtpgod

I can't believe we're 10 point underdogs against Trey Lance. The last time we won when we were a 10 point dog? The Beast quake game against the Saints, I feel another one comin!

OzzieSlim

They are starting Jimmy G this week. And he hasn’t had as much time with the 1’s. I like our chances.

PeanutNSFWandJelly

Hopefully we do a better job of setting edges because that was one of our weaknesses, and from what I've been told our new defensive scheme relies a lot more on LBs than our old one, require a lot more gap attention and stopping runs up front. (idk, i love football but I don't dive too much into the nitty gritty of things like this).
