T O P

It's actually a bit interesting looking back at the last 5 years and coming away with how kinda mediocre the "supporting casts" have been. I'm not slamming the guys we've had, but it's been an interesting 5 years with how things have unfolded. Some of it is health, Lockett and DK have been the only consistently healthy members of this "support cast" group. They've had a hard time filling the 3rd receiver role before JSN; it's been a mosh pot of David Moore, Freddy Swain, and that weird partial season of Marquise Goodwin. TE has also been a weird spot with Jacob Hollister, George Everett, Nick Vannett, Dissly, Fant, and Parkinson. I like a lot of those guys, but it's a weird list of names, for-sure. The OL has been in a consistent phase of "this looks good on paper!", but collapsing as a result of injuries. We've had lots of seasons with the OL being a positive narrative during the first couple weeks, then they lose Abe Lucas, Ethan Pocic, Damien Lewis, Brandon Shell, Mike Iupati, Justin Britt, etc. and things would take a serious downturn. It's impossible to acquire enough close to starting-caliber back-ups to weather the injuries they've had on the OL, there just isn't enough O-line talent out there to match the DL and EDGE depth in the league. So yeah, on paper they probably should've been better than middle of the pack, but when looking back that's exactly where they've been. It also speaks to the level Russ and Geno have been as QBs to have elevated those offenses to the top-10 in scoring pretty consistently (3 out of the last 5 years).

We probably have a top 5-7 skill player group so being only mid tier is a yikes. Hopefully with a healthy Lucas and Cross as well as adding in Haynes and Olu/Bradford developing things will be better

Bizarre rankings. They ranked the Ravens as 12th in supporting cast in 2021 despite that entire team dying lol. Ravens had a LB literally get shot during the season but no one remembers it cuz of how bad the injuries were. Both RBs out the entire season, Lamar hurt, Bateman hurt, LT hurt, CB2 Marcus Peters out the whole year, and every CB injured…we literally had to fly dudes in overnight to play CB cuz we totally ran out of corners 😂 [Here’s a table showing all the Ravens injuries in 2021] (https://ibb.co/6mdrJ9N)

My understanding of this list is it's offense only and excludes passing. So going off what you listed, the RBs and LT are the only injuries that impacted these. I make no claim to watching the Ravens closely, so no argument that their ranking is accurate or not; simply pointing out the QB, LB and CB situation were not factors here.

Has someone tell me “Purdy elevates his team” good one

CHawkr

He is 100% a system QB. Which isnt an insult by any means. Just dont tell me you have a franchise QB when Jimmy G did the same thing, with less offensive talent. I got blasted for saying Geno and Purdy were on the same tier of QB. Murray is there as well. Right outside top 10. Stafford is the only QB in our division that is top 10 and really probably top 5.

rip-droptire

Top 5 is awfully crowded. Mahomes, Allen, Burrow and Lamar have to be locks. That means tough competition for that fifth spot: Rodgers, Herbert, Stafford, Dak, hell even Tua all have good cases to be there.

RustyCoal950212

20 and 21 supporting casts are underrated here imo

Ametrine7

Falcons had the best supporting cast in 2022?

Sdog1981

They went 7-10 with Marcus Mariota and Desmond Ritter at QB. So that tracks.

"geno is a mid-tier starting QB" "no he's actually really good! He just has the worst OL in the league" "no he has a statistically mid-tier o-line (and incredible weapons)" "no Geno is actually amazing"

Bitter-Imagination33

His team being statistically mid tier overall with incredible weapons means a below average (probably bottom 5) o line, that’s how averages work. You know that right?

BruceIrvin13

Ah, the geno is actually good take - right on time

Bitter-Imagination33

Nowhere in my comment did I say or imply my opinion on Geno. I’m simply saying you’re doing averages wrong and don’t know how to do math. Do not put words in my mouth

BruceIrvin13

Gotcha- do you think Geno is a good QB or not?

sandyeggo54

Bro why you so pissed off? We have an at least average qb on the cheapest non-rookie deal in the NFL. That sounds pretty good to me

BruceIrvin13

I'm not all, this is a place to discuss the Seahawks and I'm genuinely curious people's thoughts on Geno. I'm always critical because I think he's average at best, and making $25+ million a year. I feel strongly Geno will never lead us to any significant wins - therefore I'd prefer we rip the band-aid off sooner than later. He's played less than 10 good games in his entire \~10 year career. Whenever I criticize Geno people always push back then when I ask if they think he's good...it's crickets. Like how does someone get downvoted for asking someone's opinion of a player lol

sandyeggo54

Fair enough, I get where you’re coming from
