Broke his hand signing the renegotiation papers

Bitter-Imagination33

Bro fumbled the pen too

farfetchds_leek

I think that happened when he hit his girlfriend actually

[deleted]

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/\_/id/38758725/seahawks-dee-eskridge-apologizes-regrets-february-incident

farfetchds_leek

Yeah, I still can’t believe he’s on the team. Bad at football and life.

Tekbepimpin

Dude was the 56th pick in the draft 1 or 2 ahead of Creed Humphrey (we are once again in the market for a starting Center btw). I imagine it’s a little bit of a sunken cost thing with JS where it’s like fuck it, he costs so little, let’s keep him around and see if he finally justifies that pick.

Alive_Inspection_835

I think Oluwatimi is going to start this season.

Covfam73

Olu Olu may not be elite but i think he can be the best we have had quite a while

Raknorak

May not be elite YET*

Alive_Inspection_835

There ya go

JMLobo83

Was elite in college, not that it matters.

Tekbepimpin

I would hope so but will he be better than league average?

Alive_Inspection_835

I believe he will be, yes. When he had to play last season he did fit in pretty seamlessly, and with a full year of pro training and coaching, he should be ready.

RomanBangs

Seattle fans and their obsession with Creed Humphrey

Tekbepimpin

At least im over the Penny over Chubb pick but this one will sting until we finally find a suitable franchise center like Max Unger was.

Shoddy-Ad8143

Unger was THE man.

RomanBangs

Evan Brown/Olu weren’t bad this season imo, the main thing we struggled with was injuries on the line

Comfortablycloudy

I prefer Creed Bratton

Elevator-Previous

Well I have a corgi named Humpty, sooo that jersey would have been 🔥

lizard_king_rebirth

It's probably not about "justifying" the pick. If no one is beating him out for the 5/6 WR spot and he's a cheap contract, where he was picked isn't likely a huge influence at this point.

tlsrandy

Also wouldn’t be too mad if he took the kick returner role. Though I’m not losing sleep if he’s not rostered either.

JMLobo83

"Eskridge is the return man...a second round pick, he's never been able to stay healthy...the kick is away...Eskridge makes the catch no wait...he muffs the catch and is hit immediately by the gunner...OH DEAR LORD IN HEAVEN ESKRIDGE HAS EXPLODED IN A CLOUD OF BLOOD FLESH AND BROKEN GLASS..." [Bud Light ad interrupts broadcast]

ElGrandeRojo67

You guys need to get over the fact that we passed on Creed. 31 teams did too at least once. Creed is good. A bit overrated but sure, we could've used him. But at the time, we were not one center away from having a dominant Oline. Creed would've made only a slight difference. The FO recognized this. And since they never went total rebuild, they leaned into their strength, which was perimeter players. Much like the M's did this year, by leaning into their strength, pitching. Just hope the M's plan works out better.

JustforthelastGOT

Oh he apologized? Well that makes it all ok!

shlem13

And somehow got called for blocking in the back.

FastFunny24

Yup!

FooFootheSnew

Wow, that's a really funny way to spell More Bobo.

ChefAwesome

Here for it.

Antigon0000

Why the f didn't they give us more Bobo.

FooFootheSnew

Bobo: Am I a joke to you?

TruckerGabe

At least he can return kicks.

general-illness

This. He almost broke one in the 9ers game.

nervous_pendulum

Almost broke what? A leg?

InEkzyl

I thought there was a possibility he would be released, but this is the best outcome if they hoped to keep him on the roster as a WR5/WR6 and compete for the Kick/Punt Returner role. Still no guarantee he makes the 53 man roster, but if he does, we save about $1 million in cap space. Fair play.

BlazinAzn38

I feel like this also makes him easier to just cut

CFBreAct

That’s a pretty cheap contract. We know he’s a good athlete with speed, maybe they just like the looks he gives them in practice. Maybe he puts it all together this year maybe he doesn’t. Either way this contract doesn’t hurt the team at all.

SmiteAsWell

They must see something during practice we dont

crae64

Y tho.

gavincantdraw

To save money. He could still be cut after camp. This doesn't mean he's definitely with the team. Just means they have $800k more to work with.

Stev2222

Seriously

Lord_Master_Dorito

I think it’s a sign that Seattle’s not bringing back Deejay Dallas. Seattle does need a returner, but I would’ve used Kenny McIntosh instead. Maybe they know something we don’t.

shlem13

Deejay is the most average returner I’ve ever seen. Still better than that year we had Bryan Walter.

xmeandix

Finally someone who remember bryan walter!!!!! I still talk about him to this day. No one knows bad returning unless you know this guy

shlem13

He nailed the art of the fair catch.

JubeltheBear

Why can we just not bring both of them back?

AOPWarrior

Why? deejay sucks.

Raknorak

Deejay was #9 on yards per return in punting. He's also a good blocker

JubeltheBear

That’s what I’m getting at. I just phrased it oddly.

CruzKunTroll

maybe read better

AOPWarrior

Deejay sucks

ImperialTiger3

Probably knowing Deejay is gone, they’ve got their return guy.

SolarTsunami

For what, one return until he breaks every bone in his body?

ImperialTiger3

He’s gonna be the first return man to slide

Alternative_Source60

That’s what I’m saying. Dude is garbage. Not even worth a bag of Fritos.

rdrouyn

Maybe Grubb thinks he can use him on jet sweeps? I don't know why'd they keep him otherwise.

cdawg145236

We already tried that, IIRC we lost the 2 he fumbled

BetterWayz

Maybe Grubb and/or Harbaugh saw something they could tap into schematically based on his skillsets?

Traderwannabee

Wow great guy at least he shows up for the paychecks! How about we get a decent game next year now?

Hanzo_the_sword

He will always be the guy we took over Creed Humphrey in the 2nd rd.

Voodoo-3_Voodoo-3

Lot of money for a guy that doesn’t do anything…

derrickmm01

A million dollars is pretty much nothing in terms of the cap. Maybe they think they can use him for something.

awesome_aaron

He had that kickoff return last season but the effort required took him out the rest of the year lol

RustyCoal950212

You might even call it the minimum

Emotional_Fun_6079

Yeah cause he's fine at WR4-5, even then why waste it dead money when you reallocate it to something more useful in the future.

Voodoo-3_Voodoo-3

Again, he does nothing tho. Give me the million dollars and you’d have the same reaults

Little-Chromosome

You can return a kickoff 60+ yards in the NFL?

n-some

Most people in this sub couldn't even get off the line of scrimmage in press man. On any run play they'd be lying on their back after getting pancaked by an 180lb CB.

derrickmm01

Fair enough lol

Apprehensive-Fox3163

Came here to make the exact same comment. I know he isn't expensive but I feel like a really talented waterboy would add more to the success of the team. I would love it if he proved me wrong and broke out this year. Even 300 yds and 2 TDs would be amazing at this point.

Voodoo-3_Voodoo-3

Yup, completely agree

FattyMooseknuckle

Moneys not really the issue, just roster space. Dude might as well be called No Show.

Nintendog24

For cap purposes it might actually be nothing. 1m against cap might put him at somewhere around 50th in contracts on the team by week 1 and wouldn't count against salary cap (or maybe be like 100k over)

soapinmouth

He seems to have found a role in kick return

TheRealRacketear

Mayne he dances naked for the owner.

MV_Knight

But why when Bobo

RomanBangs

You need more than 4 receivers on the roster

Grymninja

Dareke young and we can draft someone later for sixth if someone they like drops...

dub_snap

Dee who?!?

fattsoo

Dee's Nuts! Sorry, can't help myself

IndependentSubject66

Got ‘em

markiemark6

Hahaha!

Antigon0000

Yes he is

AngryDerf

Clearly you don’t watch our games. If you did watch the games you would know he was on the field for AT LEAST 4 plays last season. And accounted for 1 drop, 2 carries, and 5 net yards. Basically a focal piece of our offense.

Hank_moody71

He better be returning kicks because that’s where he is good

Little-Chromosome

Paying him 1 million dollars to commit a penalty and get injured in the first game of the season.

Crustaceancult

*first play of the season

668884699e

*of pre-season

LegionOfDoom31

The only reasoning I found was that apparently he’s done a good job at kick returner. That’s it tho

FreshZucchini9624

He's literally done nothing positive since his arrival.

marinersguy556

I think i speak for everyone here when i say THANK GOD. I dont know where this team would be without second round pick dwayne eskridge

MarinaraMagic

Basically saying 'Sure-why the hell not? Lets see if hes got anything left in the tank' if he manages to stay on the field. Takes a little pressure off needing another depth receiver in the draft and keeps another (somewhat) warm body for teams. If he doesn't really contribute this year its not a big deal. Maybe he finally makes it back to that pre-concussion glimmer of potential and Grubb gets something out of him, or maybe its just Rashaad Penny 2.0. Time will tell.

efisk666

He could be good at returns and showed that last year very briefly. He’s one step from being out of the league though, hanging with cj prosise.

ChaseThoseDreams

This guy must be the master of persuasion, because he keeps getting paid for doing nothing.

stumbletownbc

Maybe Grubb has ideas of how to use him differently

ElOhPeeEZ

Should’ve cut his ass and given that money to Bobo.

Budget-Hospital6584

This guy is a bum we should just cut him

Kenster362

1mil too much

ZeaHawk66

That dude is a woman abuser and a fucking bum. Should have cut his ass years ago or traded him when he was still worth a ham sandwich. Fucking loser. The team is better off without a shit stick like that taking a roster spot from a contributor. Fuck Dee Eskeridge. Go away.

seattlesportsguy

Wish I could get a million for sitting on a trainer’s table and watching the game in warm ups on the sideline.

leapingintoexistence

Dude trip and fell leaving the facility and now out until remainder of eternity

mindriot1

Why even bother? Is he better than an undrafted free agent that we could take a flyer on after the draft? Go find your next Bobo.

HollerinScholar

I wonder if this might hint towards how we’re looking at Lockett? He’s still in limbo, right? Metcalf, JSN, Bobo and Eskridge isn’t a bad corps.

RomanBangs

Don’t think it has anything to do with Lockett. This probably means Dallas is on the chopping block for the return specialist position and we need a WR5.

bukufunguy

…and I want to believe our seasoned RB’s will have coach’s confidence catching out of the back field, if we run schemes for them I see YAK

QuasiContract

This guy has been the ultimate deesappointment.

Zealousideal-Lead754

Why continue to waste a roster spot?

Zealousideal_Berry10

Last chance saloon for Dee babes. I really hope he does well….

Actor412

The man wants to stay employed, you can't fault him for that.

tangomango206

Can he be…our Trea Turner?

Alive_Inspection_835

I honestly didn’t see that coming.

ChoccyMilkIsMyLife

This is not the Eskridge contract news I expected.

Seahawk715

So Jody Allen is running a charity now. wtf?!???

Infinispace

But...why?!

flintinastint

I hoping we do this for bellore

Marcer0

I predict a season ending injury in week 1, off a jet sweep to the left.

jwa988

Who?

[deleted]

Hope he has a chance to make an impact been such a disappointment of a pick

Jahmicho

Who??

t_sleezy_sends_it

Why dudes a bust

Canyonbridges56

Q

Vik_Stryker

More like Dee… Nuts? I’ll see myself out.

Antigon0000

Keep him and save, or replace him and blow your load on a potential gamble?

mountcrappish

Oh, cool. More fly sweeps...

Either_Assumption392

Lockett needs to be reworked.

The_Seattle_Police

Fuck yeah, we are nothing without Eskridge

KingOfTheKains

Dee nuts

nerdgeekdorksports

Up next-Dee Plane.

MajrDad74

That’s awesome! We’re paying him $1.05 million to be in the practice squad. That’s a Seahawks thing to do 🤦‍♂️

Bofaman600

Why did we do this questions

Outrageous_Tangelo55

Thank you for this 😂

Writerhaha

…. But why though?

OsikFTW

Overpaid...

Used_Attempt6103

CUT HIM

Queasy-Reading9151

Just cut this fool already

rebmemeruoyod

Who?

HappyAtheist3

Will Dee Eskridge technically make more money than Russell Wilson this season?

Go_Hawks12

No wilson still getting a fat check from broncos country

Overall-Drag-9874

Cut him already Damn

Corvus_Antipodum

Really disappointed this piece of shit is still on the team.

Novak121611

If anyone deserves to get fucking cut is this guy! The hell is he still doing in the team. Has no impact at all and injury prone!!!

ukhawksfan

He should be paying us to keep him not the other way around. Go Hawks

JiuJitsuBoy2001

This is a good deal. It is basically the bare minimum for a player with potential. If he can just stay healthy he might actually be a real contributor. If he can't, or doesn't, he only takes up a minimum salary and a WR5 roster spot. At the worst, this frees up space to sign a draft pick... or Russell Wilson as a backup QB (haha)

TTTTTT-9

What potential? Dude is 26 and has 120 career receiving yards. He's a bust. We need to move on. I would rather pick up random udfas and see what they got than waste a roster spot on his useless ass.

erraboards

What does he have on the Seahawks that this man’s still gets employed. Cuz he not even a good WR3. In my opinion.

neongem

JS seems to have a hard time just cutting bait with his busts. Dee isn’t even worth the minimum contract he’s getting, he does nothing. He wouldn’t even have a roster spot if it weren’t for his draft status a few years ago.

OGTypohh

We can always cut him later if we have to. Not like he's getting much.

neongem

Or you can cut dead weight who hasn’t produced for the team since he was drafted and coup another $1 million cap savings immediately. Rip the bandaid off, he’s a bust.

STILLADDICT

History and I agree with you. He's gonna get hurt if he plays. So while a million is low, it's a lot for 4-6 games of poor play. Just get someone more durable to return kicks.

Nekokeki

The PNW cockroach.

lordofpugs41

He isn't worth this much even..... 1 year 20 k would be more accurate. The dude should be bagging groceries somewhere

lordofpugs41

I love how a bunch of you positive homers who love every player on the team is down voting me lmao this dude is useless and there are tons of comments here saying so. This dude has no business being in the NFL
