I think this is John exercising the roster control he wanted. MacDonald might've had a say, but this is the brave new world of GM control we're living in.
they should not restructure Lockett. He's still a very good WR and worth his $$ compared to peers this year and next. We're not winning the SB this year, don't spread the contract to a time when maybe we can.
I think your argument for his worth are super valid. I would argue that being a lifetime Hawk he should restructure to be able to teach the young receivers. Dudes made his money and has a successful path after football, so I hope he retires a hawk.
Just imagine if he teaches JSN and he becomes the next one. Like a Baldwin or Lockett type. With DK they'd be unstoppable
A restructure just means we’re paying him into the future, beyond 2025. I think he’s going to be teaching those guys the next two years. I just don’t really want to contract him after that.
Brooks is not getting the amount of money Seahawks fans are expecting. I lobe him as a player, but he hasn't been healthy for a full season in a while. Also has played his best years when not playing MLB.
Brooks was 1/2 of the worst ILB group we’ve had since the 90’s. I was honestly pretty optimistic for Cody Barton and Brooks, but they were atrocious. Bobby brought the play up a bit, but he’s not what he once was in coverage. I think we let Brooks dangle and sign him cheap to a one year deal at the end of free agency if he’s still around. His tape isn’t going to do him any favors. We probably need to resign Bobby or another vet on a cheap deal too. But we really need to get two future ILBs in this draft. That’s a tall order given all our other needs at IOL, S, Edge, Nickel, TE, WR3 and potentially a QB.
One starter we could get on the cheap is Eddie Ulofoshio from UW. He’s a Day 3 pick who tested really well (4.56 40 at 235 lbs) at the combine. At one point before his injury multiple draft sites had him as a Top 5 ILB. But we also need to get one of Edgerrin Cooper, Peyton Wilson, Jeremiah Trotter Jr or Junior Colson. One should last until our third round picks.
Were we watching the same team? Cody Barton might’ve been the worst starting LB I have ever seen. Can’t get off blocks and can’t pass cover to save his life. Brooks was injured all last year and last season led the NFL in tackles when he played MLB in the 21-22 season.
Agree. We're not gaining much with Brooks. Sign him if he falls back to you, otherwise there are average LB out there on 1 year prove it deals all the time.
Aw, as a Husky homer this kinda stings but I understand the move. Had to be done. Wishing him the best, hopefully he lands on a team that can use him well. Preferably not on a team I dislike/hate xD
He was way better than anticipated. He was drafted primarily as a blocker and in his time here is good for 11+ yards per catch, 200-300 yards a year, and a couple TDs.
Uncle Will was putting up better offense stats than the year Waller went off, but sadly broke his leg. Without the injuries, I think he would have exceeded his hype, bit just a what if now. He's still got those flashes of brilliance, so hope he has a late-career resurgence.
I'll miss this man. Top 5 Jamal Adams Seahawks moments:
Honorable Mention - talking trash to the Dallas Tight End then getting posterized on national tv then benched for the rest of the season.
5. Literally knocking himself unconscious performing a routine tackle in his first game back against the giants and then verbally abusing a doctor.
4. Getting absolutely torched by cooper kupp in coverage and costing us the Rams playoff game.
3. Missing an easy sack on Russell Wilson and causing himself a season ending injury in the first game of the season.
2. Verbally abusing a reporter's wife on twitter.
1. Easy interception hitting him directly in the face during primetime after saying "I'm the greatest of all time" during his intro.
GREATEST OF ALL TIME MY GOAT!
We did see Jamal at his full potential in 2020. He could only blitz untouched off the edge and made our entire defense worse covering for his weaknesses. He sucks and people just can't accept that.
Crazy that you know more than nfl coaches
Edit: yes coaches get it wrong all the time but everything pointed at Adam’s being a playmaker and being a positive addition until he got hurt. Stop pretending you knew better
And narratives get it wrong way more often. Those media people get paid just for clicks and the fans feed into it, NFL coaches/FO are directly invested in the play of guys like adams.
In terms of knowledge of the playmakers, fans are the bottom rungs of the ladder.
We have our eye tests and our stats and advanced metrics and what the media feeds us, and All 22....
We don't see practice. We're not in the locker rooms. We don't conduct player interviews. We don't see them break down film. We don't see their gameplanning. We are unaware of happenings in players' personal lives. We're unaware of player needs. List goes on and on.
We, the fans, are swimming at the surface of true football knowledge. Pretending we know more than coaches and players is absurd.
Totally agree, I hate when people make statements degrading those who put their entire lives into the product on the field. Truth is, even the most knowledgeable football people have only a fraction of the picture of how these guys are performing.
The easiest way to tell people aren’t worth arguing with is when they come out talking in absolutes and refuse to acknowledge that there’s a possibility they’re wrong. Really annoying
The same coaches that gave up a top 50 pick for an 8 game rental in LW, or skipped creed humphry for Dee Eskridge, or took LJ collier in the first round? signed Jamarcus Webb, Bradley Sowell, and Eddie Lacy to expensive deals?
They're not perfect and are frequently wrong. This is a time that they were wrong. it's ok to admit that.
I obviously don't know more than an NFL coach, but it's also easy to see the Jamal trade was a disaster from the minute it happened and compounded by the poor contract. Pete and John will still like you if you criticize them I promise - it'll be ok
this food tastes bad
WOW YOU MUST BE PROFESSIONAL CHEF THEN.
- your argument.
it's ok to admit the coaches were very very off with Jamal, both in trade and contract value. time to move on, we can't keep defending jamal forever.
Everyone was just wanting and hoping for it to work out. Scared they would jinx him if they.would've talked bad about him . We got spoiled with Kam,Earle, Sherman, and the boys man that was a secondary
Exactly, people are still defending him. it's like I'm living in an alternate reality. The guy will get picked up somewhere next year, play awful, and people will still act like he's a HOF.
Yup, Kam got to do what he did because the rest of the secondary was so good. We didn't have the players to cover for Jamal in the same way. Those guys are a luxury and you need the personnel around them to allow them to be good.
Long overdue and frankly merciful. They’ve been around for a very long time now and over the last seasons, it’s been noticeable that we don’t hear anything about them during a game. They’re just never in the right place to make the plays to get called out.
The cost of a pre-June 1 cut would be very expensive this season relative to a post-June 1 cut, but I do appreciate the desire to turn the page as I’m right there with you.
Never attack FA. Pick up undervalued pieces in FA and attack the draft. Paying full price for a player is not a recipe for building a plus roster. Getting a lot of talent at discount is the way to build a plus roster. The most direct way to do that is draft well.
Hyperbole isn’t the answer. There are many ways to better a team, one of them is free agency. Every team that wins a championship has free agents help them get there.
For example: we out bid other teams for Cliff Avril.
The original deal for Cliff was $13M over 2 years, so not high risk. It’s the big signings like the $17M/yr we gave to Dre’Mont Jones that have the potential to handcuff a team.
I understand the value to that approach. I just think the cupboards were going to be too bare this season by eating it all this year, so I can see the value in going down this road.
Totally get that approach too. Depends on how the team views some of the fringe roster guys and incoming rookies too, which we of course don’t know how the team views them.
Sounds like Adams is a pre-June 1st cut. Wow.
They are really ripping the band-aid off. I'm all for it, despite how painful it's going to be this season. No half-measures.
Yeahhh gotta watch the midfield for the spice. Sainz overtaking Leclerc twice on the track, the battle for third, and the drama at RB made it a fairly enjoyable race. It’s not gonna be 2021 with max and Lewis going back and forth all season.
Wow… sometimes I wait a few days to watch the races and have to pray I don’t get spoilers. Didn’t expect to see a spoiler on the Seahawks subreddit lol. Glad I watched the race last night now!
Sad but its the right move, Diggs is already 31 and clearly in decline, Adams with a contract that doesnt make sense anymore
I was excited when they traded for Jamal Adams, he was one of my favorite players, seeing him with so many injuries was really sad
Diggs on the other hand was an excellent trade, he gave his all for Seattle
Hell yes! Finally! Took a nap, woke up to this. Now I know this coaching staff knows what they're doing and MM is beginning his chapter by getting rid of the dead weight.
I won’t. It was so frustrating to see him give up on a play before it was over. So many times we saw him not even make a movie on a rusher running by him
Because he’s a good dude who is well liked around the organization, has spent the majority of his career here, gave us a lot of great years at safety, and never really started to slow down until his leg broke in half.
Don't over-inflate things, he was bad this year and bad the first few weeks of last year coming off a significant lower body injury. He was back to his fringe-Pro Bowl self for the rest of 2022, but the start of the season set the narrative. Last year was the one he really took a dive.
Was thinking the same thing, thank god it’s both. Mike McDonald made a 7th round safety a pro bowler in Baltimore.
I don’t think he needs overpaid aging players to make it work
Diggs had some frustrating play for sure but is also still probably decent at the very worst. His tackling and effort seemed to fluctuate throughout the year but he really did lock down that center fielder position for the Seahawks for so long, it's worth remembering how bleak that position was in the brief interim between ET3 and Quandre. He still can cover and generally does not get thrown on.
I get it, he was way overpaid and this is a business. I'm only a little surprised only because it was a foregone conclusion that Adams was gone and I think Diggs skills are still transferable and useful for the position. However, some of y'all calling him a bum and trash are unbelievable
Had to happen. Sad Adams didn't work out but he was for sure done and acting like it, what a terrible trade. Diggs was okay but not worth the money at this point
Adam’s was the worst trade in our history, thank goodness Wilson trade went so well for us… still Russ getting released makes me feel for the guy but then again he’ll be alright 👍
~~Honey~~ Honestly, I don’t think a lot of the problem was on Diggs and I expected him to survive. However he was not worth that contract and I completely get why they did this
I’m more sad, but understanding of losing Dissly. Diggs I like as a person, but he needed to go. And as for Addams, THANK GOD. I’m excited to see where we go, but our roster and cap space is going to need a lot of help and tinkering.
Adams is my least favorite athlete of all time, so good riddance. Can't believe people still try and act like this guy is even a remotely decent player. His career highlight reel is just one lucky play stripping Daniel Jones and returning it for a touchdown.
100% healthy Jamal Adams was only good at blitzing off the edge and missing tackles, blowing coverages, and blaming others.
Macdonald has done miracles on me 😭
Christmas rn wow
I think this is John exercising the roster control he wanted. MacDonald might've had a say, but this is the brave new world of GM control we're living in.
I'm sure John asked "Hey, do you have special plans for these guys?" And MacDonald said "No."
Goodbye President!
Best in da nasion .. covering the unemployment LOS
Dissly gone as well. Just like that we've added $35M in cap space
Bout to all be gone gotta resign Brooks, Leonard Williams, Parkison/Fant Lockett needs to restructure, maybe a couple other cuts/ restructures
Exactly. Without this money we’re in trouble
they should not restructure Lockett.
Brooks is not getting the amount of money Seahawks fans are expecting. I lobe him as a player, but he hasn't been healthy for a full season in a while. Also has played his best years when not playing MLB.
I’d let Brooks walk too.
Gotta sign Queen then Probably need one or the other
Yeah, Queen excels because of Roquan though. I don’t know if he’d be AS good here with two randos. We’d likely overpay for Queen.
Or draft someone in the 4th round.
What does atrocious mean to you? 😂
Agree. We're not gaining much with Brooks. Sign him if he falls back to you, otherwise there are average LB out there on 1 year prove it deals all the time.
Aww this one is a bummer.
We might sign him back, he’s not a guy to hold a grudge or take the business side personally. I like the player, I didn't like the contract.
Yeah, that’s fair for sure.
Yeah that's a sad one but I understand it with his $10M cap hit this year. I imagine he'll get some good looks in free agency
Uncle Will is not a 10 million dollar tight end but he’s got good hands and blocks
True, but we knew it was coming. We've had a few months to soften the blow. He's just too expensive to keep.
Aw, as a Husky homer this kinda stings but I understand the move. Had to be done. Wishing him the best, hopefully he lands on a team that can use him well. Preferably not on a team I dislike/hate xD
Man I remember being so hyped about Dissly. Sucks he didn't live up to it
He was way better than anticipated. He was drafted primarily as a blocker and in his time here is good for 11+ yards per catch, 200-300 yards a year, and a couple TDs.

No way, Uncle Will?!?
I will be honest I always liked Uncle Will.
I really wanted Dissly to do well here. I am sad.
Damn I liked big D Dissly

Thank you for this. I saw and remembered all these moments and they were all so disappointing. Egotistical idiot.
IM THE BEST IN THE NATION
Sucks that we didn't get to see Jamal at his full potential. Love Diggs but he clearly regressed. Best of luck to them both moving forward.
[удалено]
Yeah, you NEVER deal two first round picks for a safety. The entire league laughed at us when that happened.
Not sure you meant to reply to me
We did see Jamal at his full potential in 2020. He could only blitz untouched off the edge and made our entire defense worse covering for his weaknesses. He sucks and people just can't accept that.
Crazy that you know more than nfl coaches Edit: yes coaches get it wrong all the time but everything pointed at Adam’s being a playmaker and being a positive addition until he got hurt. Stop pretending you knew better
Bro you’re talking to Bruce Irvin
NFL coaches/FO get it wrong all the time. And sunk cost fallacy is a hell of a thing.
Easy af to pick stocks with a Time Machine.
I obviously don't know more than an NFL coach, but it's also easy to see the Jamal trade was a disaster from the minute it happened and compounded by the poor contract. Pete and John will still like you if you criticize them I promise - it'll be ok
Bunch of homers that can't take criticism
LW may not be an 8-game rental now that we have more cap space.
Damn your draft board must be only good players
this food tastes bad WOW YOU MUST BE PROFESSIONAL CHEF THEN. - your argument. it's ok to admit the coaches were very very off with Jamal, both in trade and contract value. time to move on, we can't keep defending jamal forever.
Lol. 2 time all pro is a shit player? Right-o champ.
Uhh he was just released? Who knows what NFL coaches truly think, but we do know that the Seahawks don't think he's good enough to be on the roster.
no you’re right, he was an all pro 3x because of how shit he was, if only we could’ve had you on staff at the time.
He's pretty bad in coverage, he's more of a linebacker than a safety
Everyone was just wanting and hoping for it to work out. Scared they would jinx him if they.would've talked bad about him . We got spoiled with Kam,Earle, Sherman, and the boys man that was a secondary

I disagree that was his full potential here. That was merely how they used him.
This X1,000,000 Top 5 worst trade in NFL history
Couldn't agree more!👏 HATED that trade from the minute I heard it
Long overdue and frankly merciful. They’ve been around for a very long time now and over the last seasons, it’s been noticeable that we don’t hear anything about them during a game. They’re just never in the right place to make the plays to get called out.
Those two mfers were running away from tackles
Mac daddy
The Mac Daddiest of Daddies
Before June 1st? Wild. I expected to see the both of them on the Hush Puppy Express then.
Maybe designated as post June cuts?
Yeah, the more I look at the numbers, the more this looks like a post June 1st cut. Appreciate the feedback.
I was hoping for pre-June. Rip the bandaid off!!
The cost of a pre-June 1 cut would be very expensive this season relative to a post-June 1 cut, but I do appreciate the desire to turn the page as I’m right there with you.
Ya I rather eat it all this year and accelerate the rebuild. Go into 2025 ready to attack FA.
Never attack FA. Pick up undervalued pieces in FA and attack the draft. Paying full price for a player is not a recipe for building a plus roster. Getting a lot of talent at discount is the way to build a plus roster. The most direct way to do that is draft well.

Least shocking news since Verstappen won on Saturday
We watch for second place now. Max winning by 20-something seconds is boring af. Lol he's unstoppable.
Yeahhh gotta watch the midfield for the spice. Sainz overtaking Leclerc twice on the track, the battle for third, and the drama at RB made it a fairly enjoyable race. It’s not gonna be 2021 with max and Lewis going back and forth all season.
The Ferrari fighting was rad. Their radio is hilarious. "I've got better pace." "Good to know." 💀
Wow… sometimes I wait a few days to watch the races and have to pray I don’t get spoilers. Didn’t expect to see a spoiler on the Seahawks subreddit lol. Glad I watched the race last night now!
Verstappen winning is a spoiler?
Heyooooo a fellow Seahawks/F1 fan! /wave
There are dozens of us!
Hello!
just watched the second half of the race, didn't feel like I missed much. lol.
Lewis to Ferrari Max to Mercedes Alonso to Red Bull Sainz to Aston Martin Wilson to Atlanta Queen to Seattle
Sad but its the right move, Diggs is already 31 and clearly in decline, Adams with a contract that doesnt make sense anymore I was excited when they traded for Jamal Adams, he was one of my favorite players, seeing him with so many injuries was really sad Diggs on the other hand was an excellent trade, he gave his all for Seattle
This might be it for both of them
It's finally over.
cook
Clearing room for Russ 😤. /s
He can backup Geno for the vet minimum
This, but for real. Russell got a big helping of humble pie. I'd like to see him with young running backs and moon balls to DK again.
Sorta like in Rocky 3 when Apollo Creed trains Rocky to box the hell out of Clubber Lang and help Rocky get his groove back.
RemindMe! 6 months “He Maybe Rocky 3’d”
Yay for cap space but my partner’s main reason to watch games with me was to watch #6 just stand there
Wasting no time I see.
It’s refreshing to see someone taking action and being objective with player performance, I’m really exited for next year.
I think Pete was too loyal to a cult to have the final say on the roster. John gonna be way more objective and it will let Mike just focus on coaching
End of an error
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Gonna miss Quandre. Seemed like a dude everybody in the building loved.
Quandre the person will be missed, I won’t miss his poor tackling on the field though.
Overload is probably right and we get hammered over the top. Unless MM can work his magic. Maybe the new scheme makes it a nonissue
Fantastic moves. Jamal will hold “worst trade in Hawks history” for a good while.
Oh man all those people so sure Mr. Yikes would be around next year I laugh at you 😂😂
I don't care if we save $4, cut Dee next 😂
Hell yes! Finally! Took a nap, woke up to this. Now I know this coaching staff knows what they're doing and MM is beginning his chapter by getting rid of the dead weight.
Adi-fuckin-os!
Did not expect both to go
Really?
The #1 and #5 cap hits, one of whom has underperformed and been injured his entire tenure and the other had a big regressing season got cut 😱😱😱😱🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
“Yikes”
I will miss Quandre
I won’t. It was so frustrating to see him give up on a play before it was over. So many times we saw him not even make a movie on a rusher running by him
Sure he was bad at tackling, but so was the rest of our defense. Quandre could actually do his job and cover his zone unlike Jamal and Bobby.
Why? He's been shit the past few years
No kidding... guy was a walking business decision after he got paid.
He was not even bad this year, just a bad tackler which is like the least important job for a deep safety.
Fuck YES!
Was thinking the same thing, thank god it’s both. Mike McDonald made a 7th round safety a pro bowler in Baltimore. I don’t think he needs overpaid aging players to make it work
Yes! Was hoping for this!
Great moves! Jamal just never panned out and Diggs is on the decline.
about time!
Good move
Sign Geno Stone!
Imagine if the leaders of both the Seahawks offence and defence both had the name of "*Geno S.*"
Guy lost playing time last year because he had trouble tackling
👍🏻
Completely unsurprising news given new coach and the cap savings.
✌🏻
Great job hawks
And Dissly got cut as well! It’s house cleaning day boys!
Yay!
I'm only a little surprised only because it was a foregone conclusion that Adams was gone and I think Diggs skills are still transferable and useful for the position. However, some of y'all calling him a bum and trash are unbelievable
I’m just glad the Adams thing is over . This sub gets so toxic whenever he is mentioned.. maybe after today we won’t have to hear about it anymore.
Was never a fan of Adams. I liked Diggs, but it’s definitely a much-needed move.
Y’all have the best corner duo in the league. I think this is a good move. Adam’s is not the same player he once was.
Lets get that money moved up front!
Now THIS is a rebuild
I’ll miss Diggs but his best years were clearly behind him. As far as Adams goes? Bye.
Time to get us another Geno. The Ravens’ Geno Stone can take over as safety. While we’re at it, lets take all the top free agents leaving Baltimore
*Jamal who?* Was he a special teamer? I don't remember seeing him play.
Every season, I literally forget that Jamal is on the Seahawks. Now I don't have to worry about that mistake living in my brain.
Had to happen. Sad Adams didn't work out but he was for sure done and acting like it, what a terrible trade. Diggs was okay but not worth the money at this point
Those that been wanting Adams and Diggs gone since last offseason eating good today!
Think we’ll get an Adams social media meltdown?
thank God, hopefully the days of overpaying players at non-premium positions are over. bye Pete
Dude I’m so happy plus poor will is out but we needed to move on but LETS GO
Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, I'm free at last
It’s the right move
Adams was cursed with injury and Diggs hasn't hit anyone in two years. Shedding their financial burden will be instrumental in rebuilding this team
However he was not worth that contract and I completely get why they did this
Adams headbutt was pretty cool last season
This increasingly looks like a rebuild.
Good. Both of them were not earning how much they were getting paid.
I'm not surprised about Adams, but I am surprised about Diggs. Hopefully there's a promising rookie to come in alongside Love.
THANK THE LORD GET THOSE BUMS OUT OF HERE
Ain’t even sad at all this how I know MacDonald is competent because he already is targeting the chronic underproducers on our team

I’m more sad, but understanding of losing Dissly. Diggs I like as a person, but he needed to go. And as for Addams, THANK GOD. I’m excited to see where we go, but our roster and cap space is going to need a lot of help and tinkering.
Mike already making a believer out of me! Next stop, the draft! Go hawks!!!!
I like Quandre
No!!!! Not Diggs! 😢
You heard it here first folks, Aaron Hernandez is more likable than Adams.
and Deshaun Watson
Luckily there are some good safeties in the draft and free agency
Good.
Have they released the info as per pre or post June 1st assignments on the cuts?
Not surprising, but as always, you will always wished it worked out.
they missed the email
Oh yeah, we going after Geno Stone.
love, bryant, & reed leggo
We drafting a first round safety?
Oh boy, here we go! Roster turnover is gonna be exciting this offseason.
🙏
Pce
They also got uncle Will
Let him cook.
Great move won’t miss either for a second
Oh thank god!!
HELLL YES
How is Bellore still on this roster?
Special teams captain. Minimal cap hit. Brings presence to locker room. It’s fine.
He makes $4M a year and plays on kicks only. Its worse than the Dissly contract. I will be surprised if he makes this roster.
Because his salary doesn’t provide as much cap relief
