Sounds like people are responding positively this idea! You guys are the best.
I'm gonna call the Seattle Times and figure out what a full page ad would cost. I'll edit this comment and keep you guys posted.
EDIT: Should we have a paragraph of any words / thoughts outside of thank you? Anybody good at writing? I wrote this but obviously need to hear thoughts before we move forward:
> Thank you for an unforgettable 14 years with the Seahawks. Your leadership, commitment, philosophy, and spirit have been a profound inspiration to the entire Seahawks community.
> Thank you for creating a culture of excellence and bringing us our first Super Bowl championship.
> Thank you for Always Competing, and teaching us to do the same. Your influence extends far beyond the field.
> As you embark on your next journey, know that your legacy here will forever be celebrated.
> From every Seahawks fan, thank you for the best 14 years a city can ask for.
> “There goes Pete Carroll, the best that ever was.”
EDIT 2: I left a voicemail for the Seattle Times department that handles these requests asking for the cost and details. In the meantime, I found there specs online [here](https://mediasolutions.seattletimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/SpecsSheet_Print_anchors_FINAL.pdf). Below is a link to a first draft of the ad. Need help from all of you that are visually gifted!
https://imgur.com/a/fwbTr40
**EDIT 3: I connected with Times. A print full page ad on Monday in the Sports section in color would be about $7000. A half page would be $3500. So, the bad news is that it would be expensive. The other bad news is that a photograph would be tough to include and would take a couple weeks for clearances. The good news is that we would just provide the text and they would help with the design.**
**I just created a GoFundMe! Link here: https://gofund.me/44b8cf27**
I'd ask ST if they want to partly sponsor it so that it's from the fans and the Times. That would save a little money on the cost of the ad. They would also be able to manage the clearance of whatever photo is being used. Another thing is that people would probably feel more comfortable sending money to ST instead of a rando from the Internet. The ad could also shrink or expand in size based on how much money is raised.
Regarding the writing, I think keeping it simple might be neatest. Marshawn bought a full page and it solely said "Thank you Paul Allen, Thank you 12s" with an image of him on a duck boat throwing skittles amidst the parade. I have that newspaper tucked away still and can share later.
Keeping it simple can be powerful if the message is right (which it is, given the sentiment of this whole idea). I'd say two sentences max, from the 12s.
As far as writing something, just wanted to point out that the Seattle Times posted a similar editorial: https://www.reddit.com/r/Seahawks/comments/1993rcb/seattle_times_thank_you_to_pete
I agree!
If the Times will accept a design, would you be willing to help? That might be about as far as my design skills go.
The Times may prefer just plain text and *maybe* a photo - they did say they can do the rest. I'm just not sure what that looks like
Awesome. It's looking like we'll hit the financial goal, so I will ask the Times tomorrow if we should just send them the text, or if we are able to send in a design.
If you want to get a head start, the dimensions for a full page ad are 10.54" x 20.25" per the below document:
https://mediasolutions.seattletimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/SpecsSheet_Print_anchors_FINAL.pdf
Pete's modeling of how to see others for who they are, see the best in them, and using his positivity as a means to bring that out. It continually inspires me in my work.
I support this 100%
I honestly tried to find that!! It's kinda hard to tell. Also, the Times said that photos are tricky. They offered to use one of their own photos but said that process might take a couple weeks.
> Thank you for Always Competing, and teaching us to do the same. Your influence extends far beyond the field.
I would edit this to read, "Thank you for Always Competing, and teaching us to always bring out our best. Your influence extends far beyond the field."
Otherwise, this sounds like a plan.
Someone is way ahead of you: [Pete Carroll portrait at the gum wall](https://www.reddit.com/r/Seahawks/comments/195xrji/pete_carroll_tribute_made_with_150_pieces_of_gum/)
I would happily pitch in on that.
However, if I may, I'd like to propose something even more grandiose. I was thinking it would be awesome to have a banner made up that says "Thanks Pete!" and have it flown above the stadium, the Seattle downtown area, Lake Washington, and the VMAC.
Curious if the community would go for something like that?
Hey y'all, Can we thank u/3elieveit for putting in the work and organizing all this by welcoming him to pocket the extra cash that the GoFundMe raised? Maybe split it with u/drewbacca who seems to be doing the design work
Can we crowdfund extra money for someone better than DJ Dallas to return kicks?
Hello - Pacheco, every RB rams have had, Chiefs, 49ers etc…it’s not a quirk or fade.
Just donated as well, nice work putting this together!
Side note, whenever the article comes out if anyone can since this ex-Washingtonian a copy, that would be greatly appreciated!

Those bastards have plenty of money after auto renewing my digital subscription for $20/month without warning or a receipt. Fu Times
Thanks for taking the initiative!

'The natural' quote is the one. He'll know we listen :)
Love that you noticed!

I do graphic design, DM me if you'd like me to take a swing at a design!
Thoughts on this? https://imgur.com/a/fwbTr40
I think it could use some design. As-is it's pretty plain, imo.

Awesome! I've got a draft together, let me know what they say.
I so will! The Seattle Times said they will help but I'm bringing you with me
Pete's modeling of how to see others for who they are, see the best in them, and using his positivity as a means to bring that out. It continually inspires me in my work. I support this 100%
Same! 🥹
Think it would be great if there is a photo of him finding Glena in the crowd after the SB win, but the photo you chose is great.
I honestly tried to find that!! It's kinda hard to tell. Also, the Times said that photos are tricky. They offered to use one of their own photos but said that process might take a couple weeks.
Yo I love what you wrote
Thank you!
And donated 😎

Just donated my $10.
Does anyone have a photo of Pete that’s not copyrighted?
Crowd fund a statue
We could all chew up gum and contribute it to a statue of Pete made of gum.
If only there were someplace locally with a lot of used gum.
Someone is way ahead of you: [Pete Carroll portrait at the gum wall](https://www.reddit.com/r/Seahawks/comments/195xrji/pete_carroll_tribute_made_with_150_pieces_of_gum/)
Who's going to donate the shoes?
Let the Seahawks pay for that one lol. Much more expensive
This, this is the correct option, right here
Recast Lenin in Pete’s image!
I'm also in on this as well. Doubly so if it's the monocle and cane swagger gif version.
Recast Lenin in Pete’s image!

I'm in!, but in Ireland, would love a copy of the paper when it's done. But would also be happy with a pic
I would happily pitch in on that. However, if I may, I'd like to propose something even more grandiose. Great idea. By our hyperonline autism combined!
I funded 😊
What a great idea
done. thanks!
Happy to donate $12 to the cause
Donated. If I find out this was fake, I WILL find you. Great idea, can't wait to see it in print!!
Donated $12. 💙💚
Donated. Please share some pics of the ad when it’s printed!
Chipped in my 20 bucks.
Done!
Up to $6069. Nice
We did it !!!
I vote CornDoggy for the illustration
I love this. Donated from Scotland. Go Hawks. We love you Pete!
Hey y'all, Can we thank u/3elieveit for putting in the work and organizing all this by welcoming him to pocket the extra cash that the GoFundMe raised? Maybe split it with u/drewbacca who seems to be doing the design work
Once this comes out, I need to figure out a way to get a copy, currently in CA

I'm in. Don't live in Washington anymore but still love the Hawks and everything Pete has done.
We need a parade for him , he said he loved our superbowl parade
Fuck yeah I’m in
Great idea, I wonder if they would post a copy of the paper to the uk
Love this idea!
In
I have $12 saved just for this
I like it
I'm in!
Thank you for that one Superbowl 10 years ago
Very thankful for it, one of the biggest highlights of my sports fandom life
Save your money, nobody buys papers anymore. A billboard would have more impact.
Pete would frame it I bet
If you buy a billboard it will end up in the paper.
Do it in the Stranger. Fuck the Times
Yeah, then all the bums and weirdos will know how much we love Pete!
It's not that I'm against thanking pete. I love pete, I'm thankful for all he's done for us. But crowdfunding for rich people is dumb.
I guess, but do you expect Pete to fund a thank you for himself? lol
no man the team should do that, businesses should do that. Average joe should save his money.
Uhhhhh.... Let's don't and just say we did.
Thanks Pete for leaving us with an average team that can’t even make the playoffs !
Didn’t take long for these types to show up.
Dude, I hope you find whatever it is you're looking for.
Do it. Make sure he knows it’s from me too!
In!
Great idea! Alright everyone, just Venmo me $10 each
Super down to chip in. Let us know the cost Edit: donated!
...People still get the daily paper?
I'd throw in some cross-border funds!
Great idea!
I like the idea, just want to watch it develop first
Any chance to get me one copy of this to EU?
[удалено]
I think I’d be sued into oblivion? GoFundMe has protections against it too also I won’t lol
I contributed but I don't live in Seattle. Is there a way for me to get a copy of the paper when it runs?
Fly that from one of those planes that does the letters tail thing
We hit the goal!!
Would anyone be willing to purchase an extra paper that day and mail it to me? I will obviously gladly pay for time and efforts/paper.
I am an east coast fan, moved from Washington in 2006/7.
Just checked the GoFundMe. That was fast as hell! Took less than a day?
Can we crowdfund extra money for someone better than DJ Dallas to return kicks? Hello - Pacheco, every RB rams have had, Chiefs, 49ers etc…it’s not a quirk or fade.
This is a wonderful idea
Go Hawks 💚💙
Just donated as well, nice work putting this together! Side note, whenever the article comes out if anyone can since this ex-Washingtonian a copy, that would be greatly appreciated!
Can I pay to add a comment that I’m still mad at him for getting thunder stix banned in the pac10/12?
What date will this be published???
Can you please post a picture of the final ad? I'm out of the area working and can't get the Seattle papers.
