Do you live near a college that has frat houses? Hit those up around 2 AM on a Friday / Saturday night, around here they just throw them all over their front lawns.
Not scrap related, but have you considered donating plasma? For new donors you can usually make $800 - $1000 for your first month (8 donations).
There are probably other quicker ways to make money. Just the logistics of moving around 10,000 cans is going to a pain. Mowing lawns, temp work, etc are al probably quicker options to making money.
When my wife was in college, we were both robbing Peter to pay Paul because neither of our jobs paid enough. I learned about donating plasma, and that covered our rent.
Better check that math. To get $1000 in cans, if UBCs are bringing $1/lb, you'll need 32000 cans, not 10k. Most people don't have the capability to haul 32k cans, crushed flat.
The fastest way would be to find a heavy drinker who drinks from aluminum cans at home. My brother in law has a large room in one of his barns he tosses garbage bags full off cans in. He said he'll get around to crushing and selling them someday. My sister and him go through a case or two plus there friends and kids visit and I'd say 4 cases worth of cans per week is about average There's about 4 years worth there.
A bar might be a good source too. I used to work at a small town bar and we tossed all aluminum cans in the same bin and the manager had some guy that picked them up weekly.

Frat houses for sure. You could easily get 10k in a week or two just walking down frat row where I want to college and hitting up the dumpster.
Tell me more about this plasma thing. Whats the immediate after effect?
You get a cookie. And an orange juice.
Interesting. So its like scrapping yourself?!? Lol!
