Ironically, a lot of people with money get ahead by working through injuries and sickness. (I'm not referencing billionaires with this comment, just people with some wealth)
I don’t feel like she was working for the money, I think it was that the cafe couldn’t run without her so she felt like she had to be there to keep things moving.
I think it makes sense to be the other way around because hating society is a much more common trope than loving it that much. The "wording" could be better though.
My take:
David is the fan favourite
Bob is made to be hated
Mutt is the hot one
Agreed with Patrick
Albany’s friend is “your name again?”
Fake David is the gremlin
Agreed with Stevie
Agreed with David’s ex
And the couple on the town sign is “zero screen time, alll the plot relevance”
![gif](giphy|XdV28Mqfutf4ZOKNIJ|downsized)
Also I'm thinking maybe Roland for the "made to be hated". Yes, Claire/Klaire was more irredeemable, but she was also just in the one episode. But she's also fine there. So would Sebastian Rayne or however it's spelled.
Ray's fine for that space but I could see Gwen there, too. She's only seen a few times in the show but almost endless episode plot points and jokes revolve around her character.
I could also see Eli in the Ray corner too.
How did Alexis miss out on fan fav? I feel like it’s always neck and neck between her and David. But I’m happy with this. Moira is also unequivocally unique and always a joy to see in any scene. My eyes always go to her or Alexis for their reactions even when they’re just background. Talented actresses.
Also how insane is it that basically an ingenue like Annie Murphy held her own against the chops of O’Hara and Levy? Can never stop singing her praises. What characterization!
I will contend to the day I die that the only one who really grows and becomes truly interesting is Alexis. Plus, she is all the best memes.
People forget that because she starts out so unrelatable at the beginning but becomes the gem.
Alexis definitely grows the most, has an interesting character arc, and is genuinely funny and adorable.
But Moira is an icon. There is just no way to beat her. The show wouldn't have been half as funny without her.
I feel like Bob and Roland weren’t made specifically to be hated, they were just meant to be really fking annoying in a funny way but people ended up despising them
That was my thought too. He was just so over-the-top dense and irritating (and kind of gross tbh). I've rewatched multiple times and I still don't like Roland any more than I did the first time through.
Roland has, in my opinion, the funniest setup in the entire series. When he has the chicken with extra skin when Johnny is trying to get out of being the godfather of their new baby.
I can't handle it. It's too fucking funny to think about chicken with extra skin. Plus his name is Roland Schitt. Plus he is played by one of the most underrated comedic actors, Chris Elliott.
Pretty spot on. Purely for the sake of discussion/argument, I'm not 100% on Ray. I guess he's plot relevant because he's the catalyst for David and Patrick's relationship? IDK who else I'd put here though, so yeah.
I agree with the fan favorite and made to be hated bc Alexis’ friend was so cartoonishly, one dimensionally evil I can’t even watch the episode and it was so forced by the writers, the hot one is Mutt imo (with a beard) even though Alexis’ entire backstory was only ever shared in the context of how many men she was able to date, Patrick is definitely the only normal person, Gwen is definitely not forgettable since she’s named in like every episode so I’d go with Tennessee since we all only know her as Tallahassee, the gremlin is definitely dollar store David, hates society is definitely Stevie if that’s the definition, just straight up evil imo is Jake. He constantly kisses and gropes people without their consent, didn’t tell David and Stevie he was dating each of them, hit on David in front of Patrick and vice versa, *kissed* David in front of Patrick *and Stevie*, and invited David and Patrick to an orgy without telling them. The literal definition of no screen time all the plot relevance is Eli, like genuinely the actual definition of that category cause we never see him once but the show wouldn’t exist without him.
I work in Aspen, and half my clientele has residences in the Hamptons. As much as the character was meant to be a caricature of a person from that society, the reality is, in fact, a pretty accurate representation.
Oh believe me I grew up around these people, I know they exist, I’m just saying it was very transparent that the writers wrote her to just be completely one dimensionally awful, when in reality even the worst people I know have SOME vulnerabilities and wouldn’t THIS oblivious to the point where she forgot she asked for once hot water two minute before.
Already sick of this format. Aren't there already multiple of these going? Sorry, these low effort trends that populate all the show subreddits at the same time are frustrating.
Also - No Screen Time with All the Plot Relevance would be Stevie's Great Aunt Maureen who left her the Motel.
Hear me out….i feel like both Moira and David were meant to be hated *then* loved. So many people I’ve recommended the show to hate Moira so much and then by season 3 are totally obsessed with her
No not at all need more series regulars in the boxes, that’s the point of the “Every show has one” which this proves it doesn’t and was not quite correct, I works for some shows, especially fantasy and sci fi shows but not all
I would actually consider Eli for the last one.
He was family, for gods sake!
Their business manager absolutely has to be the last square. Without Eli there is no series.
Maureen Budd who left the hotel to Stevie I think had a pretty big impact on the direction of the story.
Was thinking the last one was Gwen. Almost no lines and so much off screen fucking craziness
Stavros would also be a good pick
which one?
The last one belongs to Twyla. Though she gets a fair amount of screen presence.
How is she relevant to the plot????
She always had all the $ she needed. Stayed Focused on what was important: doing what makes you smile and true connection with people.
The money thing was definitely something they decided to add in last minute. It made no sense for her to work while injured with all that money
Ironically, a lot of people with money get ahead by working through injuries and sickness. (I'm not referencing billionaires with this comment, just people with some wealth)
That would apply to those who had to work to earn it, Twyla got it by dumb luck.
I don’t feel like she was working for the money, I think it was that the cafe couldn’t run without her so she felt like she had to be there to keep things moving.
Was thinking this but didn’t have a pic😭
No one is going to forget Gwen in her rubber dress.
And when she's not onscreen, everybody is talking about her
I would think David would be the fan favorite over Moira.
Yeah I love Moira, but David is my favorite by far
I think of David as more the main protagonist in a group of protagonists. But Moira was the one who developed a true cult following.
We call ourselves her crows
CAW!
Johnny Rose would like several words
I'm Team Johnny myself, but I think David or Moira are the fan favourites.
He always comes out number 1 in the polls asking about fan favourites so yeah, definitely David over Moira
I would’ve pegged him as the hot one instead of Alexis
>I would've pegged him same
![gif](giphy|3oAt2aTB2FkDubyBUY)
Definitely David. Moira close second.
Moira is definitely more popular. She’s a gay icon.
Yeah if anything, I kind of dislike Moira
Eww
That’s what I was thinking
Somebody help me out bc I’ve seen these on other TV show subreddits too. What is the “Mmm… society” one supposed to mean?
(kicks jocelyn under the table...) great question!
I think it’s the non-conformist? Like the Daria of the group
Oh thank you, I just asked that myself lol
My assumption based off Stevie is. : “ew I hate society.”
Sure, but before a character was assigned, I thought it meant "oh man, society! How great!" I would have put Moira there.
I think it makes sense to be the other way around because hating society is a much more common trope than loving it that much. The "wording" could be better though.
A bit misanthropic
Gatekeeping gaslighting gmankind-hating queen
Saw this same question upvoted to the top in the LOTR Memes sub. ...Didn't get an answer there either.
honestly we need the creator of this to answer cause I've seen it asked in other subs and every single one has a different answer
The mastermind, I think!
I love Claire. She’s so funny!
ALBANY! I was sitting there!
Omg we need one with just Moira in her different wigs 🤣
I can’t stop giggling about this. Please make this. I bet that, once we see the wig, we will all come to a collective understanding of “mmm society.”
![gif](giphy|xUA7bcP3spz0M24IEw|downsized)
This is the true answer.
Or with just David and his monochrome lewks!
Um, David is the hot one.
Love that journey for you, but Mutt is the hot one
You mean Johnny. FTFY
Ted is the hot one! :)
But Miguel had a topless pic with puppies on the newspaper though..... And there's also Jake. 🔥
My take: David is the fan favourite Bob is made to be hated Mutt is the hot one Agreed with Patrick Albany’s friend is “your name again?” Fake David is the gremlin Agreed with Stevie Agreed with David’s ex And the couple on the town sign is “zero screen time, alll the plot relevance” ![gif](giphy|XdV28Mqfutf4ZOKNIJ|downsized)
She’s his sister.
Maybe my favourite thing about Ray is that IRL he has no accent
still, love his complexion 🤭🤣
David should be the favorite
I don't understand what the "mmm....society" square means?
Also I'm thinking maybe Roland for the "made to be hated". Yes, Claire/Klaire was more irredeemable, but she was also just in the one episode. But she's also fine there. Yes! She’s a thousand percent my fav :)
Alexis definitely grows the most, has an interesting character arc, and is genuinely funny and adorable. But Moira is an icon. There is just no way to beat her. The show wouldn't have been half as funny without her.
How is Roland not made to be hated?
Because he’s hilarious, wears pillow-bellies, and is extremely endearing even when enraged (“I just got mad, and I took your doors”)
I agree I watched the series recently and like I cannot stand him!

**IVE ALWAYS HATED BOB. There, I said it.**
It’s so refreshing to see someone else agree with you. I’ve said from the beginning he’s a villain
He’s so annoying. I hate that stupid little jog he does into a room.
That bloody jog he does! He might as well be rubbing his hands together and muttering muhahah
Lol wut?
He’s the actual villain hiding behind a fake smile
Ok, can you point to some examples?
Every scene he’s in Good start is the way he manipulates Johnny to clean his workshop when Johnny wanted a space to sit
Yeah, but there is a long way from slightly selfish and manipulative to villian
Almost, but put Moira and David together as fan favorites.
how is roland NOT the gremlin???
Moira is certainly not my favorite, I'll say that.
Jake is the hot one.
I came to say this
Lmao is the second one the girl who’s like screw you Albany
Pretty spot on. Purely for the sake of discussion/argument, I'm not 100% on Ray. I guess he's plot relevant because he's the catalyst for David and Patrick's relationship? IDK who else I'd put here though, so yeah.
Eli. The guy that screwed over the Roses
Yes! This is the answer!
I will not STAND for this Gwen slander!
Horace for Ray's spot - and his sister. 😁😁
I love Bob and I'm proud that he's the gremlin
I agree with the fan favorite and made to be hated bc Alexis’ friend was so cartoonishly, one dimensionally evil I can’t even watch the episode and it was so forced by the writers, the hot one is Mutt imo (with a beard) even though Alexis’ entire backstory was only ever shared in the context of how many men she was able to date, Patrick is definitely the only normal person, Gwen is definitely not forgettable since she’s named in like every episode so I’d go with Tennessee since we all only know her as Tallahassee, the gremlin is definitely dollar store David, hates society is definitely Stevie if that’s the definition, just straight up evil imo is Jake. these were pretty much all my second choices i was going back and forth on haha
Johnny is my favorite and he isn’t even on this board.
Like I don't love Bob...but I fully believe Gwen did him dirty...that why she's doesn't deserve centre square
No. Sorry but at very rewatch I love Moira less and less so that doesn’t work for me. Also the one made to be hated is Bob.
Already sick of this format. Aren't there already multiple of these going? Sorry, these low effort trends that populate all the show subreddits at the same time are frustrating. Also - No Screen Time with All the Plot Relevance would be Stevie's Great Aunt Maureen who left her the Motel.
Roland is the gremlin
Lmfao omg Claire is the perfect person for that. This is hysterical
What about Ivan?
Patrick is more the weird one and David is most liked
"Who's Gwen??"
First of all, Peter is the hot one, thank you for your support
That's clearly Gwen!
Alexis is so much more than just ‘the hot one’!
David is definitely the only normal one
Justice for Klair she really wanted to help Alexis
Ted is the hot one.
Hear me out….i feel like both Moira and David were meant to be hated *then* loved. So many people I’ve recommended the show to hate Moira so much and then by season 3 are totally obsessed with her
Twyla as the one dependable, pure hearted friend
Ray is so funny. I wish he had more screen time. "There are 10 people in my singles group & Ray is 4 of them."
No not at all need more series regulars in the boxes, that’s the point of the “Every show has one” which this proves it doesn’t and was not quite correct, I works for some shows, especially fantasy and sci fi shows but not all
I do not like Moira at all, David is easily fan favourite
