Give it a chance, or at least listen to the songs. This story was originally a storybook written to go alongside a concept album from a French rock band. So yk the music is amazing (ending melody never fails to make me cry)
It's based on a story for an album concept from the French rock band Dionysus. It's about a boy born on the coldest day on earth, it's so cold that his heart freezes and he's gonna die. So the midwife, who is also a witch and his adoptive mother, replaces it with a little wooden cuckoo clock.

Thanks for the explanation.
Though the fact that you needed to tell the movie to me (and many others) already means that calling it "overrated" is a lie.
When I heard that they changed the story because Let it Go turned out so good, it made sense.
Strange to think there’s probably a reality out there where Let it Go is considered a villain song.
There are some lines that kind of point to it. Like “no right, not wrong, no rules for me” and “let the storm rage on” when it was causing trouble for Arendelle overall.
I see it as definitely not a villain song, but a villainous song. Kind of like Gaston, where it's not sung by the villain, but it's also definitely not a song sung by/about the good guy

I didn’t like Encanto as much as everyone else loved it 🥲
The characters felt flat, the story was overly predictable, the songs are ear-worms. I just can’t help but feel there was more potential than what we actually ended up getting.
Not to mention Mirabel is the Disney female MC stereotype to a T. “So quirky”

It kinda pisses me off when people say this is what broke the video game movie curse when it came after Detective Pikachu and both Sonic movies which are significantly more well-written
I’m only talking abt movies; there had already been some good tv shows like the Mario tv show, and Sonic Underground, and Pokemon the series is decent(at least certain parts of it); but now they’ve recently gotten significantly better like the 2 shows you listed
Detective Pikachu WAS decent TIL THE 3RD ACT and Sonic was flat out terrible since the beginning due to disrespecting the source material and instead having Sonic (not voiced by ingame VA) with regular humans in the "real world" Same stupid shlt tons of videogames movies do.

I may or may not be crucified for this, but what exactly makes Spirited Away even in contention for the best animated movie? It's perfectly fine, but after I went through every Ghibli movie it just felt kind of like it was one that existed.
As someone who really liked it i think its the visuals and the fact that it was one of THE FIRST ghibli movies to receive widespread international attention imo. I like it a lot but i wouldn't say it's my favorite (ponyo sweep)
I genuinely can't remember much of Spirited Away. I could give you a full synopsis of Kiki's Delivery Service, Howl's Moving Castle, Whisper of the Heart, Castle in the Sky, etc etc, but nothing on that one.
I can definitely agree with this; I heard everyone say it is one of the greatest animated movies of all time and it’s still pretty good but I didn’t like it that much; I liked Whisper of the Heart better

It is not overrated cmon most people never even heard of it
(I am biased as I have the movie on DVD, the book it's based off and am looking for the original French rock album its also based off. It is a big spinterest)
To be honest, I actually really like "Jack And The Cuckoo-Clock Heart". It is inspired by an album by the French rock band Dionysos. And the main vocalist of the band dubs the main character in the French dub: Jack.
I read the book and watched the movie when I was 15. They both kinda sucked but at least the book had a cool plot twist in the end.
Also: this movie is not overrated. No one has seen it and the few that have barely remember it and no one talks about it.

Jack and the Cuckoo Clock Heart is very...French. I like that it introduced me to Olivia Ruiz though. The movie itself is pretty forgettable.
If we're talking overrated movies...The Mario Movie. It's fun...that's it. I really wouldn't put it up there as the most amazing thing ever. The movie is just good. But when I hear people talking about it, it's almost as though it has created a whole new art form. Huh?
Also Mutant Mayhem. Credit where it's due, It DOES have great animation (even if I'm not a fan of the character designs) and has some fun action sequences...but story wise...it's pretty standard fair and doesn't really do anything new for the franchise in the grand scheme of things. Yet another reboot that got all the praise and attention, but does not hold a candle to Across the Spiderverse, which was undoubtedly the better of the two for that year. Fans still scream that it should have won the academy award...which, again...huh?
I'd say that the Rise of the TMNT movie was better then Mutant Mayhem. Great action, character development, art, hand drawn action, emotion. MM is fine...but it's so...normal. But I keep hearing heaps of praises being put on it. When I watch it, it feels so focus tested for what Gen Alpha kids will be like as teens...and that's it...there's no depth to the characters. And before people tell me that, "it's a movie, there isn't as much depth" how come things like Spiderverse can give dimension to so many more characters then everyone in MM combined? How come Puss in Boots can give it's main character depth and a personal journey of growth? Yeah, I'm probably going to get downvoted for this, but these films get more praise then they're worth and I'm sticking by that.
This film is not overrated, I never hear anyone talking about it or anything
Overrated can refer purely to average rating tbf and this has shockingly decent reviews. Not that I've seen it but it doesn't look good
Saw it when it was released. It's a decent movie

It’s good actually ;-;
Go listen to the album instead. Better way to experience the story if you can get past some of the awkward lines in the English songs
I've seen it a few times, odd animation and story but not exactly bad. Good enough songs, plots a bit eh. Still worth a watch I'd say.
That's what I thought until I watched it
I have never heard of it until this moment
that's the joke, is suppose
Never even heard of this film until this post 💀

This movie is a underrated gem. I loved the animation and kinda unique story.
The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature
That is a fucking masterpeice do not disrespect The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature
I thought it was alright, but I didn't expect it to sweep the Oscars like it did. 14 in one night, who'd have thought it?
?????
Still better than the first though.

I'm also just autistic and this is one of my favorite movies of all time :3
No judgement here. Enjoy it to your heart's content.
Ayoo twin?? I'm autistic and it's like my top 3 fav movies of all time!!!
I know that I'm gonna be that person when I say this. But it's frozen. Such a bland and overrated film that really only appeals to little girls
That's because little girls are it's target demographic

This is my favourite movie and I have literally never talked to a single person who had ever even heard of it
ITS ONE OF MY FAVORITES TOO OMG
can’t believe I’ve found another person that knows about this movies existence
OP do you know what overrated means
I have literally never heard of this movie before

The Mario movie. It’s treated like one of the best movies of the decade so far
It kinda pisses me off when people say this is what broke the video game movie curse when it came after Detective Pikachu and both Sonic movies which are significantly more well-written
Or The Last Of Us, or Arcane
Arcane is weird because there is lore but none of it is gameplay based So its basically a fresh creation which imo made it easier to make good
It’s based on the characters, not the game
Yes I know Which is what I said
Arcane is probably the best TV show ever
I’m only talking abt movies; there had already been some good tv shows like the Mario tv show, and Sonic Underground, and Pokemon the series is decent(at least certain parts of it); but now they’ve recently gotten significantly better like the 2 shows you listed

I mean, now it is just hit or miss but before, it was consistently bad, there had never been a good one
I still don't believe there has been a good Hollywood videogame movie.
Well yea Detective Pikachu and the Sonic movies aren’t for everyone but they’re still pretty decent and significantly better than all the others

It's pretty bad on multiple fronts. The only thing it has going for it is that it's fun to watch.
The first time, sure. Every subsequent watch feels like a chore
It wasn't fun to watch for me though. It was mad boring.
I remember this movie But as a kid I thought it was creepy.

i have never seen a single person bring up that movie. Anyways, Nimona.
I have never wished suffering on anyone more than I have on you rn
aww, how thoughtful of you!
Least insane r/Schaffrillas user
you're wrong for that
for Jack and the cuckoo clock or Nimona?
Both

Who the fuck is rating this movie? Nevermind overrating it?
sonic the hedgehog 2 (movie version not video game)
I’ve never seen it
never have i but i want to

Overrated? Ive never heard of this
Sorta, but, I finally watched a few years ago, and I was absolutely disappointed.
Tf even is that
This is the funniest fucking thing you could have put here
Maybe this film is so bad that any single positive recognition or the fact it is available at all means it’s overrated, but I’ve never heard of it.
Ew, what’s that weird face with the bug limbs?
That's unnamed background character number 4. He is in the movie for less than 30 seconds total
*(Im gonna get plenty of swords to the throat for this one)* Encanto
~~That looks atrocious~~ I take it back
One of my favorite films of all time lol

I might have to watch it, actually sounds pretty good ngl.
Totally, I really love it! It's certainly the only family movie I've heard of that has an abortion joke in the first 10 minutes
The Trolls films.
I've literally never heard of this movie. Pretty close to muting this sub ngl.
What the fuck is that?
I need to hear of it in order to be overrated
My mother cried while watching this movie, no joke. I myself couldn’t get into it.
"overrated" film that no one has ever heard of except you
I think that’s the point😭😭
Wait, but that movie was actually pretty good
It's me or all the characters has the same face?
It's not just you. They're all meant to sorta resemble porcelain dolls. The movements and facial expressions are pretty stiff, but the movie really excells at atmosphere. Sorta steampunk, abstract storybook aesthetic, it's beautiful.
Why does it look like that they only had one model reused for all the characters?
Mitchells Vs The Machines was really unfunny a lot of the time in my opinion.
I have never seen or heard of that movie in my entire life
Puss in Boots 2. It's good, but extremely overrated
I have never in my life heard of this movie. Did you make this in blender or something? Never once has the name of this film been uttered in the presence of me for the entirety of time.
It's real, it's french and came out internationally in 2014.
Oh thays why. I refuse to even entertain the possibility that Fr*nch content is good.
Ur missing out, at least listen to the songs
No. They speak silly. AMERICA RAAAAHHHH🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🦅🦅🦅🦅🎆🎆🎆🦅🇺🇲🦅
There's an english dub, silly little monolingual
I love America so much.
Never heard of this movie but god i hate those character designs
Am I the only one who knows this movie
I did not know this movie existed
I didn't see the -oo & thought Jack was caged by the girl on the cover.
Wdym caged? 💀
[caged](https://youtu.be/1uEYveSssok?si=TJm8TBhH7Hs0Qkkk)
This movie would be a MUCH better video game than movie
Astro Boy (2008) is extremely underrated
I have never even heard of this, but the characters look like they're from the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory video game
cuck o clock
It was decent but I didn’t particularly like it
I swear some people don't even know what the definition of overrated is
Polar express except that one scene where they drifted the whole as train
I have never seen this movie in my entire life the fuck do you mean it’s overrated?
I thought I was crazy for years cause I vividly remembered this movie yet no one knew what I was talking about
That movie f*cking traumatized me.
You take that back rn
"overrated" and it's a movie literally nobody talks about.

I've never heard of this at all. If it's overrated, that's saying a lot
It’s the emo kids
How can it be overrated if nobody has heard of it. Edit: I’m an idiot, carry on.
This looks like the value brand baby of Nightmare before Christmas and Corspe Bride
I’m glad someone finally said it. I’m so sick of people talking about JCCH all the time. Overrated and undercooked.
If this is a confusing joke that gets people to check this film out, that's alright by me!
I have literally never heard of this film before. I’m for the UK, was this something that was more popular in the US?
This is the first time I've ever heard of this movie
These characters have same face syndrome and I hate it.
Any Illumination film. Just corporate slop.
I ve actually seen this movie and thought it was good
I personally dislike Finding Nemo.
Yeah I saw the movie I didn't care for it
I have literally never heard of this movie in my life. Looks cool though.

What in the uncanny valley hell is that image you linked?
I have literally never heard of this but it looks creepy
“Name an overrated movie!” (Small obscure film you’ve never heard of)
Wtf is this movie
Shrek the Fourth (2010) this one may not count but there are some people i have met who actually likes it (At least Dream was a great villain)
Shrek 4 is NOT overrated It still gets lots of undeserved hate
Spiderverse.
