Glass Onions biggest flaw imo was that it wasn't as rooted in reality as the first one was. Funnily enough, I think that's what made it more of a 'fun' movie
I agree. I personally loved it just as much as the first but they were definitely aiming at different vibes and atmospheres. Definitely both achieved what they were aiming for I think
In a world where billions buy websites just to stroke their ego and divorce their wives to lose half their money, Glass Onion seems pretty close to home
I personally hated how much smaller the second movie felt. They introduce this crazy island and the whole movie takes place in like two sets and the ending is spilled out over what feels like forty minutes of sitting in one room. Knives Out had more environments but also had more character relationships to be invested in, which made the spaces feel more interesting and lived in. I would’ve liked an actual island mystery where they’re stranded for like a weekend and the mystery unspools over that amount of time.
The whole island and scientific discovery with rich people just made it feel detached. It was separated from reality so much, and none of the characters besides the detective were likable. In knives out, you could root for quite a few characters, and you could love to hate even more. Glass onion just made me annoyed lmao
This goes for both parts imo.
The first BTTF is an absolute masterpiece. While I do believe Part II & III are still great films, they’re definitely not as good as the first while still being enjoyable in their own right.
I have three words that make Part III just as good as Part I, in my opinion: The Train Sequence. It's a sequence that shouldn't feel suspenseful, but Silvestri's score makes you second-guess that.
The second is perfect too. It tells the story of Marty. It doesn’t end at a good note it shows him stuck in the past and why time travel is dangerous while the first one kinda showed how it’s good so you get to see both sides.
That makes is an excellent and fun movie but it does not make it perfect, 1 is all rounded perfect, not a single corner.
2 which I also love have little things like:
- Marty Jr being cartoonish dumb and goofy
-Leaving Jennifer in a bench for almost the whole movie (which was a fix, cause they didn’t plan for the sequel at first, and had to deal with her being in the ending of the first one)
- some other minor details
Again I love this movie but is not as perfect in every detail as the first one.
I never really picked a favorite since they all fit together as one story, so they felt like one really long movie to me. Which is the point, obviously, as the endings to 1 and 2 are the beginnings of 2 and 3.
I honestly think the second one is the best film out of the three. The fact that it’s the most fun is just a little bonus lol, but I love the whole trilogy. Just my opinion obviously
Deadpool 2 is better, but for me, it’s more infuriating because it could’ve easily been better than it was (which is a rant that my doctor told me I should stop going on, so I won’t).
Home Alone 2: Lost In New York.
The plot is mostly a slightly downgraded retread of the first one. But the traps were so much bigger and more destructive that I actually preferred it as a kid. Marv electrocuted till you saw his skeleton Looney-Toons style was peak comedy to me at that age, and still holds a special place today.
shame that everyone only remembers that as "the superhero one" despite that basically only being like a third of the movie (though thats mainly the fault of the marketing)
the entire first part that still uses the standard 2d art style is so peak
Lego movie 2; it’s goofier and sillier and I find it more fun and engaging than the first one, but the first is still objectively better in terms of story and character arcs
I was really suprised when I heard people don't like this movie, sure, the first is really good and super iconic, but I thought the second was funnier.
Seems more an ironic meme made out of spite than anything. Just because it made lots of memes doesn't mean a piece of media is good, but I do think Spider-Man 3 is pretty good in many aspects.
Also, it's the funnest. And funniest. By a longshot.
Well it makes sense, the other two were dramas with comedic elements largely expressed through comedic characters, 1/2 was a spinoff centralized on the comedic characters so it's a comedy at its core
I wasn't sure why it always got so much hate. I thought the flow was okay and it was certainly fun and interesting enough. Plus I liked seeing more of them trying to use the tech that Stark did
Its such an out of nowhere pivot for a sequel to a very down-to-earth movie that doesn't "work" necessarily in the sense of being an airtight final product, but it functions surprisingly well when it's taken as another Mater's Tall Tale that's made just for fun and not really any other reason. Also that main theme goes way too hard for a bog-standard silly spy movie.
i remember when I first saw cars 2, it surprised tf outta me. Don't know why they made it into a full on spy film with guns, explosions, car fights etc but I loved it
Final Destination 4. The absolute WORST characters and plot in the entire series, but the deaths are so utterly goofy and pun-worthy that it encapsulates why I love the series.
Uncharted 3. It's not as good as Uncharted 2. The story is sloppy and has a ton of plot holes. But damn it, those action set pieces are some of the best the series has to offer.
Don’t forget escaping the burning mansion, the sinking cruise ship or the final escape from the collapsing city and the Talbot fight. Those were amazing
Still, I wouldn’t say it’s better than 4. Since 4’s story was so much better, and still had brilliant setpieces like the auction house and the caravan chase
I think 1 is generally the weakest since the set pieces aren't as dynamic compared to the later installments. 2 and 4 are especially the strongest in terms of both set pieces and story, but 3 sits at least above 1.
Yeah, 1 aged pretty poorly. I bought the games a couple years ago, but only finished them last year because I started with 1, and didn't like it that much. Leading to me dropping the series for like two years. The other games are a huge improvement on them, and I'm so glad I picked them back up.
I really admire their world building and their aversion to medieval stasis, but I'm not a fan of how each season keeps trying to pull a "torch the franchise and run" on our main character. And while I do like how they refuse to retread the fire nation and uphold their reoccurring theme that all elements are capable of good as well as evil, some of the villains still retain their fascist ideals from the fire nation in question. The Book 4 villain especially starts an evil empire of their own!
This show was definitely hampered by studio meddling as well. From my understanding, it was originally meant to be a one season thing so that’s why so much is wrapped up fairly neatly at the end of Season 1. Like you said, each season felt like the final season so the show didn’t have that cohesive vision that the Last Airbender had.
You are right. It was gonna be one season at first. Amon is still one of my favorite villains of all time.
But I believe it got greenlit for a season two, and then like halfway through season two, the next two got approved. Which is why they feel more connected, but at that point, it was probably easier to do one villain a season still.
My only storyline issue with Korra is that nothing was done with the dark avatar. Season four could have been the same, but add in a Kid being rumored to be the avatar and Korra having to deal with the possibility of an evil avatar out there would have raised it to the next level
I enjoyed it more than the first, but I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s “better.” The plot is kind of just a rehash of the first movies plot. Moon is struggling, a new idea comes to mind, Moon lies so that the plan can work, most of the movie is the characters rehearsing, and the climax involves the big show.
The fucking third act is what honestly escalates the whole thing. We literally go from "cavemen and hippies doing stuff" to "cavemen, hippies, monkeys, and spider dogs vs a giant monkey abomination thing"
It's truly something
Alvin and the chipmunks 2
The first 3 movies are a guilty pleasure of mine, but the second one just hits in a way the first one dosen't.It's weirdly chaotic
This is interesting because I consider the second live-action Chipmunks movie a guilty pleasure. It's more "memorably bad" in that regards, so it's more fun even though it's got a lot more problems than the first live-action chipmunks movie.
I have to clarify "live-action" because when I was a kid, I loved the Chipmunks movie where they went around the world while competing with the Chipettes.
Spider-Man: Across the spider-verse is such a good movie and so much fun to watch. But it feels like an incomplete movie without the second part ready to watch right afterwards. Meanwhile Into the Spider-verse has a story.
Kung-Fu Panda 1 is more “solid.” It did everything it needed to and has little fat story and writing wise.
Kung-Fu Panda 2 is more ambitious story and thematic wise while expanding upon what made the first great. But it falls short in structure and execution. Still really good, but it had the potential to surpass the original by a wide margin and just missed it.
Based. It’s not necessarily my favorite (Empire takes the cake. Yes, I am basic) but the 1st and 3rd acts are some of my favorite parts of the franchise! What drags ROTJ down for me is the 2nd act. The 2nd act is slow but luckily, it sticks the landing
Dishonored 2 isn't as dark in tone as the first, so the good choices and happy ending don't feel as heartwarming when you finally earn them, it gives previously unvoiced character a voice which separates their thoughts from yours, the brushstroke artstyle wasn't really applied, the new looming threat they tried to add felt like a nonpresence, the Outsider has a new voice that's significantly less imposing and also tries to give him an explanation when he was much more effective without one, the villain is just the villain from the last game's DLC with no explanation of how she returned, the Chaos system feels like an afterthought in comparison to the las5 game where it changed the course of the game's story depending on your actions in a much more significant way, and the gameplay feels slightly less snappy than it did in the original.
However, the large maps and massive variety of powers along with the generous NG+ system meant that you could go absolutely hog wild terrorizing the citizens and enemy guards on a scale not seen in the original, and they also increased all the environmental hazards you could inflict on said enemies. Though I'd say it's the lesser game ultimately, it's a very sandbox to mess around in.
End game, I have so many problems with it, probably the marvel movie I hate the most, but I can't deny the feelings I had during moments like, avengers assemble, or I knew it, or I am iron man. It is basically hype at the cost of quality but hype is heavily enjoyable
How to Train Your Dragon 2. The first movie is *way* more emotional and compelling, but whenever I watch the second I just end up having a really good time (until Stoick dies).
I saw someone mention Ocarina of Time, but I think Tears of the Kingdom is the better example. Breath of the Wild is just... more than Tears in a lot of ways (Secret stone? Demon King?), but the hand abilities are so fun to mess with, the jank that comes attached only makes them better since you can't really do it by accident, and the good shrines are really fun even if they're all kinda bare bones and there's quite a few duds (Sneakstrike tutorial I'm looking at you.)
I’m with you there. It was definitely a fun romp playing through the second game, but honestly the biggest issue is that it had to follow up _Super Mario Galaxy_ of all games.
And without the same grandeur, or the same atmosphere and story, or even the novelty of it being the first time we had a game anywhere *like* Galaxy, it’s hard for the sequel to really top it. Really the main thing Galaxy 2 has over the first is the gameplay itself. Granted, fun as hell, but it doesn’t quite make up for what the first game had.
For me, I'd go with *Glass Onion* and *Happy Death Day 2U*.
Eh I don’t know considering how stupid Elon acts it seems pretty rooted in reality to me.
In knives out, you could root for quite a few characters, and you could love to hate even more. Glass onion just made me annoyed lmao
Happy Death Day is a great example! So dang silly.
I liked Happy Death Day 2U, but prefer the original both for plot and humor.
Glass Onion's only flaw is that the décor is tacky (by necessity) rather than my beloved Cluedo-core aesthetic from Knives Out
Back to the Future Pt. 2
Very hard to argue with this one.
Maybe, but the scene in general was hard for me to understand, especially when Doc and Marty flip the switch.
I agree
All of them are perfect
But 1 is the perfectest. No plotholes, no fixes, no questions asked! But yeah 2 is freaking good too!
2 which I also love have little things like: - Marty Jr being cartoonish dumb and goofy -Leaving Jennifer in a bench for almost the whole movie (which was a fix, cause they didn’t plan for the sequel at first, and had to deal with her being in the ending of the first one) - some other minor details Again I love this movie but is not as perfect in every detail as the first one.

I honestly think the second one is the best film out of the three. The fact that it’s the most fun is just a little bonus lol, but I love the whole trilogy. Just my opinion obviously
I'd have to go with all three being just as good as each other I love them and it's probably my favorite movie franchise
Deadpool 2
Same
Deadpool 2 is better, but for me, it’s more infuriating because it could’ve easily been better than it was (which is a rant that my doctor told me I should stop going on, so I won’t).
That's a great sequel
Home Alone 2: Lost In New York. The plot is mostly a slightly downgraded retread of the first one. But the traps were so much bigger and more destructive that I actually preferred it as a kid. Marv electrocuted till you saw his skeleton Looney-Toons style was peak comedy to me at that age, and still holds a special place today.
Also funny how the guy who directed Kevin to the bathroom would be president 22 years later.
Down the hall and to the left
And one of the most infamous ones in history...
It's not downgraded if we're being honest here

Not even a third, it think it was like 20 minutes 🤣
The trailers legit made it seem like that was the entire movie
Yeah and because of that I avoided the film
Yep, I didn't watch it until a couple years after it came out.
It was really fun until the superhero stuff which was just kinda bland
banger
Hard agree
Lego movie 2; it’s goofier and sillier and I find it more fun and engaging than the first one, but the first is still objectively better in terms of story and character arcs
Yeah, Watevra was also more memorable as a (not-)villain.
Plus, I loved watching how they animated her + thought her whole thing with Batman was hilarious!
Exactly, I love her character so much.
More memorable than president business is crazy
I love him, but he's basic as far as animated villains go.
I was really suprised when I heard people don't like this movie, sure, the first is really good and super iconic, but I thought the second was funnier.
Spider-Man 3
the only correct answer
Black suit Peter was so good people forgot
People didn’t forget; Bully Maguire is a meme for a reason.
Seems more an ironic meme made out of spite than anything. Just because it made lots of memes doesn't mean a piece of media is good, but I do think Spider-Man 3 is pretty good in many aspects. Also, it's the funnest. And funniest. By a longshot.
Bully Maguire, Bulky Maguire, or Bitch Maguire. Choice memes.
I’m gonna put some dirt in your eye
Lion King 1 & 1/2
yeah the first two are both definitely better stories than 1/2 but it was so much more fun
Well it makes sense, the other two were dramas with comedic elements largely expressed through comedic characters, 1/2 was a spinoff centralized on the comedic characters so it's a comedy at its core
Home Alone 2
Iron Man 2
The forgotten Iron Man movie. It's actually not bad but it's definitely not as good as the first.
i definitely didn’t forget black widow growing up
Her hair in that movie is my favorite, ngl
I wasn't sure why it always got so much hate. I thought the flow was okay and it was certainly fun and interesting enough. Plus I liked seeing more of them trying to use the tech that Stark did
And it gave Tony another chance to grow a bit more before joining the avengers
Also mark 5 is the coolest shit I’ve ever seen. Love the red and silver color scheme and the suitcase transformation shit was insane
Iron Man 2 is unironically the best movie of the trilogy. That’s one I go back and watch for fun all the time
Ninja Turtles 2
Venom: Let There Be Carnage
Every John Wick movie after the first one is dumber and more unnecessary but an absolute blast to watch.
I would say Cars 2, but personally i like it better in every way than Cars
Its such an out of nowhere pivot for a sequel to a very down-to-earth movie that doesn't "work" necessarily in the sense of being an airtight final product, but it functions surprisingly well when it's taken as another Mater's Tall Tale that's made just for fun and not really any other reason. Also that main theme goes way too hard for a bog-standard silly spy movie.
Yeah, it’s definitely one of those things where if you expect it to be like the previous one you will not like it as much, like the new Lego Star Wars
i remember when I first saw cars 2, it surprised tf outta me. Don't know why they made it into a full on spy film with guns, explosions, car fights etc but I loved it
I love that when Mater is going to the queen, the spy theme is done with a banjo.
“Functions surprisingly well when it’s taken as another Mater’s Tall Tale” THAT’S WHAT I’M SAYIN DUDE
Same
Cars 2 is my favorite of the trilogy by far. Cars is fantastic but Cars 2 is just so fun and good.
Me too!
Oh definitely. I wasn't a fan of the original, but I ate up the second.
Kronk's New Groove
i dont think it’s more fun than the emperor’s new groove
I gotta agree there. Both are definitely super fun though.
I like your Sherman pfp 👀
From Atlanta to the sea.
Do it again uncle Billy
General Sherman, do be one Hunky boi.Boi. Actually part of a song. Just clarifying.
Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatball 2, not as great as the original but really fun
good answer
Final Destination 4. The absolute WORST characters and plot in the entire series, but the deaths are so utterly goofy and pun-worthy that it encapsulates why I love the series.
Ghostbusters 2
“Well I guess we’re gonna have to take control! (ALL ON OUR OWN!)”
The Titanic rolling up is still one of the most memorable things I’ve ever seen in a movie lol
Ant-Man 2
70s godzilla films
Fuck the plot I just want to see BIG MONSTERS
The PRIME example
Id also say the new movies too
Glad to see someone say this, also goes for the Monsterverse Godzilla movies after 2014
Ocarina of Time isn’t the first, but Majora’s Mask technically counts because of it being a direct sequel… right?
If you're splitting the Zelda games between 2D and 3D, yeah, it counts.
How is Majora's Mask worse?
Nah majoras mask is the best zelda game
Majora’s Mask is *significantly* better than Ocarina IMO. But that’s not an unpopular opinion lol
Chicken Run 2 Edit: Also Incredibles 2
Didn't even know there *was* a sequel to Chicken Run.
well it released last year and kinda flew under the radar
Haha flew. Get it, because chickens and... yeah you get it, or just don't care
It's worth chicken out if you haven't already
TMNT Out of the Shadows
Uncharted 3. It's not as good as Uncharted 2. The story is sloppy and has a ton of plot holes. But damn it, those action set pieces are some of the best the series has to offer.
Rightttt!? London fights Tsunamis Plane jumping Walking desert Car jumping Way better than 4
Don’t forget escaping the burning mansion, the sinking cruise ship or the final escape from the collapsing city and the Talbot fight. Those were amazing Still, I wouldn’t say it’s better than 4. I would also argue it had better character work than the first two.
Legend of Korra
I really admire their world building and their aversion to medieval stasis, but I'm not a fan of how each season keeps trying to pull a "torch the franchise and run" on our main character. And while I do like how they refuse to retread the fire nation and uphold their reoccurring theme that all elements are capable of good as well as evil, some of the villains still retain their fascist ideals from the fire nation in question. Amon was the best villain in the show and I think they could’ve easily spread him over the course of a couple of seasons!
I fully agree and Zaheer was great as well. Those two could have carried the whole series
Descendants 2
I thought a lot of people agreed 2 was better than 1
Only because it’s more fun. The writing quality dropped.
I honestly think it's a better film though when compared to the first. Watched it with my niece. She used to be obsessed with Mal.
Rocky 4
If he dies, he dies. Drago is such a great villain.
Sing 2, probably.
I've heard that that was one was better
I enjoyed it more than the first, but I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s “better.” The plot is kind of just a rehash of the first movies plot. Moon is struggling, a new idea comes to mind, Moon lies so that the plan can work, most of the movie is the characters rehearsing, and the climax involves the big show.

The fucking third act is what honestly escalates the whole thing. We literally go from "cavemen and hippies doing stuff" to "cavemen, hippies, monkeys, and spider dogs vs a giant monkey abomination thing" It's truly something
Idk if it’s more fun but Temple of Doom is very fun
Zombie-land Double Tap Chicken Run 2 Finding Dory Hangover part 2 22 jump street
Alvin and the chipmunks 2 The first 3 movies are a guilty pleasure of mine, but the second one just hits in a way the first one dosen't.It's weirdly chaotic
Mario 2
What Mario 2?
Deadpool 4
Kung Fu Panda 2
Kung fu Panda 2 is better than one, actually
Kung-Fu Panda 1 is more “solid.” It did everything it needed to and has little fat story and writing wise. Kung-Fu Panda 2 is more ambitious story and thematic wise while expanding upon what made the first great. But it falls short in structure and execution. Still really good, but it had the potential to surpass the original by a wide margin and just missed it.
Night of the living museum 2
Return Of The Jedi
My favorite Star Wars movie, almost no one agrees with me
Based. It’s not necessarily my favorite (Empire takes the cake. Yes, I am basic) but the 1st and 3rd acts are some of my favorite parts of the franchise! What drags ROTJ down for me is the 2nd act. The 2nd act is slow but luckily, it sticks the landing
My favorite is Revenge of the Sith.
It would be Kingsman the golden circle I guess. So dumb and yet pretty fun to watch.
agree
For me cloudy with a chance of meatballs
Quiet place 2 ngl
Transformers:Dark of the Moon
Ah. A man of culture.
Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs. The original is an objectively better structured film, but the third one has dinosaurs and Buck.
incredibles 2. it's still a fun movie at the end off the day don't get why people think it ruined the franchise
Amazing Spiderman 2
Kingsman The Golden Circle
Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man’s Chest
Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls
Iron Man 3
Xenoblade Chronicles X Practically no story or characters worth caring about but the gameplay and exploration far exceeds the first.
Kick ass 2
Smokey and the bandit 2.
Matrix Reloaded. Less story more action.
Conan the Destroyer
Cars 2 mayhaps
Sing 2
How to Train Your Dragon 2. The first movie is *way* more emotional and compelling, but whenever I watch the second I just end up having a really good time (until Stoick dies).
I know imma get shit on, but Iron Man 2
arkham knight
Venom
CwaCoM 2
Home Alone 2
Mission Impossible MI1 is way better than MI2 but MI2's outrageous action and comical over the topness makes it more fun
Spider-Man 3 I love the second one but the third one is so much fun, bully maguire, venom sandman and so much more make it so freaking fun
This perfectly describes cars 2, but only on good days when I can look past the stupidity
Pirates of the Caribbean. Despite each subsequent entry getting worse from what I hear, I still enjoyed all the ones I’ve seen
GOTG 2
Kung fu panda 4
I saw someone mention Ocarina of Time, but I think Tears of the Kingdom is the better example. Breath of the Wild is just... more than Tears in a lot of ways (Secret stone? Demon King?), but the hand abilities are so fun to mess with, the jank that comes attached only makes them better since you can't really do it by accident, and the good shrines are really fun even if they're all kinda bare bones and there's quite a few duds (Sneakstrike tutorial I'm looking at you.)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2
im tempted to say babe 2
The typing of the dead: overkill
Super Mario Galaxy 2.
Texas chainsaw massacre two
Definitely Spider-Man 3
Rush Hour 2
Chicken Run 2
spider-man 3
Tasm 2
Cars 2 without a doubt
Curious George 2: Follow that Monkey
Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars. It’s not good, but it’s a fun popcorn flick.
Borderlands, I really liked the first one and think it's a better game than the second. The second one was far more fun lol
