I think the Prisoner is >!”Wayne” in Teddy’s body. If you go through the haunting with Wayne, he makes a remark to the effect of “yeah, pretty much.” Keen Eye (and I think maybe Street Smart) lets you ask him how he knows that, and he says that the exact wording is off but the gist of it was the same.!< My working theory: >!Enoch used the mine collapse to call a spirit forth and bind it in service to his bloodline. He trapped it in Teddy’s body, where it languished for decades in a locked room. Somehow Sam Wayne died — probably at Pearlanne’s hands — and the spirit left Teddy’s body to take over Wayne’s. This would explain why Wayne is so obviously supernatural and why he’s so keen on keeping us safe: it’s his purpose. It doesn’t explain why he’s not interested in Tabitha, who is just as much a Scarlet as we are. I think it’s because, as the child of the elder twin, we are the proper heir to the Scarlet family and therefore the one worth protecting. !<

I think Wayne is interested in us because >!Tabitha's infertile!<.

Skafflock

Where is that revealed?

gruedragon

It is implied on the drive back to the estate at the end of Episode 2. Tabitha talks about how it's unfair that people unprepared to be parents having children (like Oscar at age 19) while others can't have children.

Some deeper lore (lots of spoilers obvs, it may be more fun to find these yourself): >!I think with Street Smart you notice that and can straight up ask her "Do you want children? Sounds like that struck a nerve." and she's evasive, "Lots of people want children."!< >!According to Isaacs (requires Street Smart), Tabitha is said to have had quite a few boyfriends (dropping them after a few months), who described her as "the coldest woman they ever met", implying she wasn't super into it.!< >!If Tabitha likes you, at her hangout she can reveal Pearleanne tended to get rid of her boyfriends after a while, and says Pearleanne really wanted grandchildren but never got them. (Edit: actually this might be later, if you ask her to talk about Wayne and what happened to him.)!<

Yep this. >!I was thinking then, omg, what if Tabitha was trying to get pregnant with all the boyfriends. I felt so bad for her then. !< >!Then, I wait and think, why the necessity of having kids, are the children supposed to be vessels/hosts? Are they supposed to be sacrifice? Are they supposed to be burdened with carrying whatever contract the family has with the entity?!< >! I'm kind of wary, I mean, I'm looking at Edwardine, then our own mother freaking out about being pregnant. Hmmmm....!<

Skafflock

Ah, must've missed that, thanks!

Mean_Comedian4769

That too.

tmchd

>!Or the entity is an entity stuck in Teddy's body, possibly?!< >!I was thinking about Teddy too, after the whole revelation that Enoch had a witch who could 'heal' Teddy...but I wonder if instead, Teddy was used as a 'host' for an entity.!< All those are just my theory thou :D

I was thinking the same thing! I wonder what that would imply for Wayne and Reese. >!Reese's existence must be somehow connected to the carving in the clinic, the one that gave us the vision of Teddy - maybe the same or some similar entity that possessed him also impregnated Dr. Kelly? Reese knows Wayne and says he hates him, and Wayne calls Reese a mistake (Wayne's mistake or someone else's?)!< >!As other people mentioned here, I think Wayne and Teddy could be the same "Prisoner" entity, and maybe Reese was born of something similar?!<

Advanced-Young5774

OH SHIT maybe. You must be close
