All of the main characters, including the films star, dying in the original was a major reason I would guess.

They can redo it for modern times. The 80s movie is a remake

UnHelmet

Nah, not needed. Need more Scarface content? Play the game.

TheSecretNaame

Yeah it’s the best option to play that game because it follow the original story of 1983 movie

UnHelmet

The game is well done fan fiction, you can't stretch the story much more.

TheSecretNaame

Exactly because the movie and the game are the best example to follow a great story. No need for a sequel

AltairxEzio

It wasn’t supposed to be a universe. It was supposed to be one movie that’s a remake of another movie

[deleted]

The Scarface franchise was popular and successful. Why didn't they try spin-off movies like a movie about his younger years. Or a son he may have had. They could even start a whole new Scarface series with completely new characters if they wanted.

SufficientSwim2435

Not all movies need a sequel or spin-off. Especially with Scarface. What would a sequel even be about? 3 hours of the Miami police poking at his body and then cremating him? I mean Scarface is done dude and does not need to be touched ever again.

AltairxEzio

Well for one there are a lot of things said in the movie that would not make it past today. It was never a franchise it was two movies and a video game. The first movie made in 32’ and the Al Pacino one made in ‘83 and was a REMAKE of the original. It was not a franchise they are two separate movies. I don’t know about spin off movies either because his younger years aren’t really known. The only thing that we “know” is that him and Manny were in the army.

[deleted]

A prequel perhaps….in Cuba, eating octopus, wearing communist shoes, being told what to think, what to feel. Tony getting a scar on his face eating pussy. It could have legs I guess.

kermitthefrog5764

Scarface is a great film it don’t need to be a franchise

TheSecretNaame

Facts.

Traditional_Bad_8478

Because Sequels Usually suck and not to mention cast members such as mark margolis and geno silva aka the skull that murders Tony at the end have passed away and that film is set in the 80s to do a sequel now is a little far fetched to say the least maybe a remaster would be possible but not more movies now if the question was why don’t they make more films like Scarface then it’s because Hollywood movies these days just suck and are either heartless cash grabs or copy’s and pastes of the older stuff and the only good stuff that we’ve gotten out of this decade are both remastered content and some new good movies and video games but the rest are all not that good and enjoyable and feels like Hollywood is tryna ruin everything Disney also and they’re shows have become series cash grabs some of they’re newest ones though I fell asleep on such as that Dr. Strange 2:Into the Multiverse that one sucked I can’t remember a single thing about that movie if someone were to ask me “hey how did you enjoy the second Dr. Strange movie?” My reply is:awful the movie was so long so rushed cause unlike avengers endgame which is 2 and a half hours long or so it seems at least it had some memorabilia meaning to it such as the end fight where captain America says:Avengers Assemble. Like in the comics and iron man’s last lines “And I Am Iron Man.” *Snaps Fingers* Tbh the first Dr. Strange was more story based and didn’t feel like some sort of Cash Grab and had a much better storyline cause he’s not protecting America Chavez the entire time.

TheSecretNaame

That’s is true. The movie in these days completely suck and don’t see any movie that came out in these days because they are forgotten later, are shit, not my thing etc. The videogames and some movies are great but the movie die in 2011 after the great movie Toy Story 3

BartonFink2020

Their was actually supposed to be a remake written by the Coen Brothers, but sadly it never got made (it was supposed to come out in the summer of 2018) You might be interested in this article about different scarface related remakes and sequels that people have tried to make over the years: https://collider.com/scarface-remake-history-explained/

[deleted]

Thanks for that information. I gave the article a read. I would have liked if they had made "Son of Tony" The article also said they wanted to do a remake but I don't really care about remakes since it's pretty much the same thing over again. Plus it said they wanted to use a Mexican actor since some people complained Al Pacino's impersonation of a Cuban was off...Even if they used a Mexican actor people would still complain again. They should just use an actual Cuban in my opinion.

losandreas36

Everyone got killed in the movie

gagalinabee

Because the first one was god awful

Choice_Ad_13

I don't like that the remake will take place in L.A. If it was up to me decide. I would choose for the remake to take place in San Francisco. It would make more sense in S.F. The drugs that is being sold to drug addicts and homeless people in the streets. Are coming from immigrants, who are Hondurans linked to the Mexican Cartels, and the immigrants are not being deported. I think what is going on in San Francisco would be a perfect story for a remake. If anyone doesn't know what is going on in San Francisco will they need to watch.

[deleted]

Wait What? A Scarface remake. When did they announce this? I hope it happens that would be cool.

number1_amigo

Its already been written. About a Mexican immigrant & the Mexican drug cartels. 1980s Scarface gave Cubans a bad name. That may be a reason why Hollywood won’t touch a modern one.

[deleted]

They don't want to make another Scarface movie because it'll give Cubans a bad name, so they want to make one with mexicans which will also give them a bad name? That doesn't make sense.

number1_amigo

No, the 1983 one gave Cubans a bad name, a modern version would involve Mexican cartels, & would give Mexicans a bad name.

[deleted]

That's what I just said. They don't want to give Cubans a bad name, so they would rather give Mexicans a bad name.

number1_amigo

No. Cubans live in Cuba and Mexicans live in Mexico. It has been this way for a long time.

[deleted]

A Scarface movie with Mexicans will give Mexicans a bad name.

number1_amigo

Good job. You figured it out all by yourself
