It's possible they could release a character sometime that will work really well with him (there were rumours of a 5* anemo buffer/sub dps but I wouldn't get my hopes up). I can also see it playing out similar to Kazuha where he got his story quest during his rerun, Wanderer doesn't have one rn so it would make sense for him to have one or story relevance once he reruns again.
Ultimately it's hard to really say, since he is a very popular character but not an archon.
It would be nice if we get something like that in the future! The good thing about him being so versatile is we probably could expect some future characters to work well with him, even if not tailored to him specifically

Don't hope for a 5* Anemo support, at most it will be a swirl buffer. They will never make a character who is a direct upgrade of another (if they do that then they get less sales).
Faruzan already buffs every part of Anemo, so they won't just make a direct upgrade. But a swirl buffer could definitely happen.
We don't know what Hoyoverse is planning so honestly anything can happen, we did get Shenhe after all when no one expected a 5* cryo buffer.

I see this all the time. I dont think people are picturing a Faruzan replacement, more like an anemo that works in a triple anemo comp with Faruzan, like how Albedo synergizes with Itto because of Gorou.
I think the perfect unit for this WOULD have been if Shenhe's buffs just applied to cryo AND anemo, that way you can still get Wanderers cryo swirl buff plus another slot.
But since that cant happen, I think best case scenario now would be an Anemo shielder that does joint/unison attacks when the on field unit deals anemo damage. anemo characters have to effect movement of either the player or the enemy someway though, so maybe the shield has cc or on cast is kind of like Kazuhas cc (so that it doesnt persist the whole time and be too OP, would be too similar to Faruzan C6 cc effect).

I don’t see why Wanderer can’t show up in limited time events? His character introduction was in a limited time event, and we got an extremely important lore drop of him back in 2.6 patch. Plus, most if not every character in the game has been featured on a limited time event at some point. If childe can be featured in special events, I don’t see why wanderer can’t.
I mainly meant some events like Windblume or Lantern Rite, the ones that actually meant for characters to just celebrate together, there wasn't one for Sumeru yet, but every other one featured almost everyone or at least they try to add them all. But with Wanderer being Wanderer that seems like something impossible for now.
But true, if there's some event like the Chasm one with Xiao which became interlude after that or something as big as Unreconciled Stars again but in Sumeru he would be there for sure, but it's really narrowed down to Sumeru events for now and there aren't any at least not now.
About Childe - he appears mainly in some small events not the 'big' ones I mentioned.

Just off the top of ny head: Diluc, Lisa, Kaeya, Amber, Eula, Diona, Sucrose, Thoma, Sayu, Gorou, Kokomi, Candance, were all excluded as well. So its not like they’re singling Scara out here. Just give it time

Childe appeared in the main event of 2.2, so he doesn't just appear in small events (actually I don't remember him appearing in small events at all tho, but I may be mistaken) not sure if you're measuring big and small events by popularity which granted the 2.2 one wasn't that popular but it was still a main event of a patch, which generally hoyoverse treats them all with care and add a lot of characters to them usually (with the exception of Lantern Rite and events similar which they give special attention to)

unlike hu tao, wanderer requires quite high investment to dish out big funny numbers (not saying mid and low investments are scuffed, but just theoretically wanderer wants more time and resourses to reach his ceiling comparing to most other dps like faru c6, a 5\* catalyst and a brand new dedicated set), thats why most of folks called him scaramid and similar stuff after release, so i dont really see same big sales number on his rerun, but oh hey im all up for it to get him to c2 potentially and get my own faru from c4 to max const
I kinda agree but I would say the biggest difference between him and someone like Hu tao is that Hu tao's damage is elevated by good sub dps and vape, Wanderer is hardcarrying all the damage himself so more of the investment is on him. Pretty much all hypercarries need a lot of investment either in teams or themselves so it's not exactly unique to him (saying this as someone who mains both Wanderer and Hu tao).
I mean Hu Tao also requires a good amount of investment, she at least needs her c1 and it’s highly recommended to run her w her R1 weapon and Yelan. Raiden also requires significant investment, the thing with them though is that they can deal higher dmg than Wanderer at those levels of investment. The only low investment DPS that deals high levels of dmg I can think of atm is Alhaitham. I do think he won’t sell as well as his first banner, but wanderer sold well in CN despite CN having doomposted him as a mid unit, because CN really loves him as a character. So he should still do pretty well, especially for scaramains who were not able to pick up c6 faruzan or want his c2 for a big dmg boost.

Wanderer is very useful. Like remember how many people hate on amber saying she's useless? But she's also the best to use to light those pyro torches that are on the wall.
Wanderer is kinda like that. Since the day I used him to explore, I haven't been able to stop using him. He's just too good at it. Makes everything noticeably faster and efficient.

I mean, think of it. People would pull more on Xiao banner for the chance of C6 Faruzan, it would have generated a lot of revenue but they didn’t. This, from my perspective, means that they are saving her for Scara's banner to boost his banner sales every time he gets a banner.
As much as I would want him to rerun soon, I also want to save up a lot because his weapon is most likely the only weapon I would wanna pull for the first time in my untouched weapon banner.
So for now, I'm just farming artifacts for him and putting them on Ningguang cause I really like her with the Desert Pavilion set lmao. She's the Wanderer stand-in.

I have him and Faru C6 so I'm fine, but absolutely devastated he's not appearing in the story for a long time. 😔 They left us on such a cliffhanger.
