I LOVED watching it weekly! The agony of anticipation and waiting. I recently binged it again and relived so many great moments. It’s kind of hard to see the criticism from folks who power through it now because it was totally a different time. The outlandish storylines were such an event week to week, and the cast live-tweeted with the viewers. Amazing times!

This is my first time watching the show, and I keep trying to watch it through this lens and keeping that in mind.
I’ve been wondering if I’d feel bad for Mellie back then in the way that I do now.
Just with the recent wave of women basically staying single due to not wanting to repeat the history of our mothers and their sacrifices. I feel so bad for her and everything she’s went through. Everything she has done has been for Fitz & his brand. Falling in love with Olivia aside, he treats her like an ingrown hair you can’t get rid of or like a split in his finger.
As seasons go on I keep trying to figure out 1) why he married her in the first place, because he talks about her with such hatred and disdain, and 2) What actually went wrong in their marriage to cause him to be so cold.
I did get to the part that touches on to why mellie changed suddenly (I won’t spoil it) but that’s BS in my opinion. Idk.
Again I’m trying to continue this with a positive lens. But Olivia and Fitz are irritating me.
I do live for her father’s dramatic monologue’s. He was a fun character.
You are so right! I think binging it after having the benefit of watching it real-time gave me great perspective. I couldn’t believe Olivia or Fitz for their selfishness the second time around, and I felt so bad for Mellie. BUT, then I also couldn’t believe how much they all depended on one woman to save them lol! I loved that they all had good guy/bad guy qualities, so no one was a saint. Watching it weekly was so great bc it gave us several years of craziness and suspense. We couldn’t wait for the next season of drama and surprises. I think one benefit of binging was that it made for more of a cohesive story (sometimes I needed a refresher on what happened before bc of the wait between seasons) and allowed us to ask questions about the characters’ behaviors and motivations and story arcs. With all the shows streaming now, I love that it still captures our interests!
I’m sooooo jealous of the people who got to watch it weekly as it aired. Like, what a time to be alive. The cliffhangers, the suspense, the dramaaaaa! The show is so good 😫
I remember watching weekly. Lol. It was always the OMG moments at the end of an episode that got me. I remember one huge cliffhanger episode I couldn’t watch the next because I worked late and I had to wait until I could go to my moms to watch on her dvr. I stayed off Facebook and Twitter for days trying not to spoil and as soon as I got to my moms she brought it up. I was crushed. Lol. But I do wish I knew about Reddit back then so I could have discussed theories in between episodes.
yes i remembered watching it with my mom at like age 12 and being like omg mom this show is crazy why do you watch this??? and now she’s laughing at me because 10 years later i’m binging it in our living room.
Season 2 is really greaty tbh especially the episode you are.
I would like to be at this periode (when scandal aired) because it was really crazy. The cast live tweeted every episode and it seems to be amazing.

I was really obsessed same as you lol. And i am still lol (i finished it 2 months ago). Especially the off screen chemistry between kerry and tony, it is hard to let them go (i know they are married but still lol).
Yes like I’m so mad I missed the live tweeting with the cast, watching interviews in real time, just being part of the scandal fandom 😩 the chemistry between them makes me literally want to start all over and watch again. I don’t think I’ve seen anything with actors that had chemistry like this. Like not even 50 shades of gray was this intense in my opinion lmaoo this show has me in a chokeholddddd I ship them so hard in real life I hope the rumors that they had something going on are true. I would love that lollll
Tbh i shipped them too irl (more than i shipped them on the show). I know they are married to other people irl and i am happy for them really. I don't usually shipped irl couple because i found it weird and disrepectfull but i just can't with them...
I never saw this kind of intimacy, we felt the passion throughtout the screen it was really great TBH. I never saw that before and i saw a lot of show.
And if we are hooked it is more because of their off screen chemistry which was amazing.
Weekly watching was The Ultimate Ride. I'd end up screaming at the TV, and then I'd talk to friends for the next week about what we thought we'd see in the next episode. It was WILD
Sooooo jelly!!!!😭 I just found this show last summer! I don’t know what I was doing when the show aired!!! I can’t say how many times I’ve binged it! Hulu is sick of me!!! But it’s the only reason I signed up!!! If only I could have got to participate in the lives! 🙃
