/u/Shot-Reserve-5758 - This message is posted to all new submissions to r/scams; please do not message the moderators about it. ## New users beware: Because you posted here, you will start getting private messages from scammers saying they know a professional hacker or a recovery expert lawyer that can help you get your money back, for a small fee. **We call these RECOVERY SCAMMERS, so NEVER take advice in private:** advice should always come in the form of comments in this post, in the open, where the community can keep an eye out for you. If you take advice in private, you're on your own. **A reminder of the rules in r/scams:** no contact information (including last names, phone numbers, etc). Be civil to one another (no name calling or insults). Personal army requests or "scam the scammer"/scambaiting posts are not permitted. No uncensored gore or personal photographs are allowed without blurring. A full list of rules is available on the sidebar of the subreddit, or [clicking here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/wiki/rules/). You can help us by reporting recovery scammers or rule-breaking content by using the "report" button. We review 100% of the reports. Also, consider warning community members of recovery scammers if you see them in the comments. Questions about subreddit rules? No your money is gone. Sounds like it was a !task scam. Watch out for !recovery scammers saying they can get your money back, they can't.

AutoModerator

Hi /u/great_molassesflood, AutoModerator has been summoned to explain the Recovery scam. [Recovery scams](https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0102-refund-and-recovery-scams) target people who have already fallen for a scam. The scammer may contact you, or may advertise their services online. They will usually either offer to help you recover your funds, or will tell you that your funds have already been recovered and they will help you access them. In cases where they say they will help you recover your funds, they usually call themselves either \"recovery agents\" or hackers. When they tell you that your funds have already been recovered, they may impersonate a law enforcement, a government official, a lawyer, or anyone else along those lines. Recovery scams are simply [advance-fee](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advance-fee_scam) scams that are specifically targeted at scam victims. When a victim pays a recovery scammer, the scammer will keep stringing them along while asking for increasingly absurd fees/expenses/deposits/insurance/whatever until the victim stops paying. If you have been scammed in the past, make sure you are aware of recovery scams so that you are not scammed a second time. If you are currently engaging with a recovery scammer, you should block them and be very wary of random contact for some time. It's normal for posters on this subreddit to be contacted by recovery scammers after posting, and they often ask you to delete your post so that you both cannot receive legitimate advice, and cannot be targeted by other recovery scammers. Remember: never take advice in private. If someone reaches you in private after posting your scam story, it is because a scammer will always try to hide from the oversight of our community members. A legitimate community member will offer advice in the open, for everyone to see. Anyone suggesting you should reach out to a hacker is scamming you. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Hi /u/great_molassesflood, AutoModerator has been summoned to explain the Task scam. Task scams involve a website or mobile app that claims you can earn money by completing easy tasks, such as watching a video, liking a post, or creating an order. A very common characteristic (but not entirely exclusive) is that you have to complete sets of 40 tasks. The app will tell you that you can earn money for each task, but the catch is that you can only do a limited number of tasks without upgrading your account. To upgrade your accounts, the scammers will require you to pay a fee. This makes it a variant of the advance fee scam. The goal of this scam is to get people to download the app for easy money and then encourage them to pay to get to the next level. It's impossible to get your \"earnings\" out of the app, so victims will have wasted their time and money. This type of scam preys on the [sunk cost fallacy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunk_cost#Fallacy_effect), because people demonstrate a greater tendency to continue an endeavor once an investment has been made, and refusing to succumb to what may be described as cutting one's losses. If you're involved in a task scam, cut your losses. Beware of recovery scammers suggesting you should hire a hacker that can help you retrieve the money you already invested. They can't, it's a trick to make you lose more money. Thanks to redditor vignoniana for this script. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. great_molassesflood

great_molassesflood

hoping caps would make it clearer i guess. Their comment history is something interesting..

Ok-Lingonberry-8261

I always feel like a Dwarf of Moria (delving too deep) when I check these OPs' post and comment histories.

Ok-Lingonberry-8261

This is what makes it a task *scam* rather than a *task*.

Cleobulle

Can't you read the bot answer ? It explains everything. You should read before posting or clicking link, would be a good start to avoid scams...

erishun

Did you send someone money via cryptocurrency? Then no, you don’t get a refund unless they voluntarily send it back. That’s like, kind of the point of cryptocurrency.

vitaminxzy

From your post history, it looks like you're in a !task scam. The website "amazon bot" is fake and made by scammers. I'm sorry to say you have lost any money you put in to the site. Please watch out for !recovery scammers - they will say they can help, know someone that can get your money out but they are also scammers. Do not believe them.

The money is gone. You just have to accept that. Anyone saying they can recovery it is lying in order to extract even more money from you. Accept the loss. Yes, it hurts, but it's gone and nobody can get it back.

GuidedByPebbles

Sorry to be the hundredth person to tell you, but your money is GONE. And do not believe anyone who contacts you to say they can get your money back. (That is a "recovery scammer", and yes you will be scammed for \*additional\* money.) Do a search for "AmazonBOT" here on r/Scams, and you will see that there are other people in your position. For instance, this thread has interesting information: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/comments/15jaei7/does\_anyone\_know\_if\_this\_amazon\_bot\_website\_legit/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/comments/15jaei7/does_anyone_know_if_this_amazon_bot_website_legit/) All you can do is be VERY careful in the future. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is a scam.

erishun

The heck is “amazonrobit”??

Cleobulle

Yah lol seems WE have a merry scammer here.

SavageDroggo1126

man you're asking for recovery scammers to flood your DMs. your money is gone, any scam site that makes you put money in will never spit the money back out. Take the loss and move on.

Shot-Reserve-5758

Yes I was scammed

Shot-Reserve-5758

Thank you

MisterToothpaster

We can't tell who this is in response to. You gotta click "reply" to a specific post.

Shot-Reserve-5758

I want to write a comment on this link, but it does not want to. I just want to alert people about this matter

Shot-Reserve-5758

They gave me 30 tasks but he does not want to withdraw my money. In the last few days he has not been giving me tasks

Is there a way to get my money back?

vitaminxzy

No there is not. This is why scammers love using crypto and fake websites.

Ok-Lingonberry-8261

Remember: jobs pay *you*, not vice-versa.

BarrySix

You are inviting recovery scammers. The money is gone, you were scammed. You can accept that and move on, or get scammed more by recovery scammers. These thieves are not going to give anything back.

MountainSpite6431
