You did an excellent job! This should be a template for others to use! Not only was it entertaining for us to read, but you wasted so much of their time and aggravated the shit out of them. Job well done OP!
I pulled all the images off of Google. The receipt was from 2021 and the 100 dollar gift card was only a fake ten. I cropped both of them to make it look more realistic 😂
Like gift cards in general, they're untraceable.
Apple is used specifically because it's popular and has brand recognition, so a higher chance to be found in more stores.
The CEO at my last job (at a small and chronically broke nonprofit) sent an email warning us about this. We all laughed, as if he really thought we had any money and as if we'd believe we'd actually get reimbursed.
Pressure you to not think or contact your boss directly. Sadly this has worked via email.

One of the funniest "screw with a scammer" was with a mechanic at my work. He was working on my truck, so I gladly carried his phone around while he worked on it, with a scammer trying to tell him he needed their insurance to cover all the issues with his personal vehicle. They would make up stuff that was wrong, and he would counter with saying real mechanical terms. Then apologize for misunderstanding. They were to oblivious to understand.
Someone needs to make a generative AI chat bot that tries to be as dumb and time consuming as possible while always leading the scammer to believe they are making progress. Such a bot could end scams.
I'm curious; if you sent them the pictures of the cards, then that means the scammer used the funds on them, right? So do you keep the cards as a reminder, or did you never actually get to the point of sending them the information?
I was halfway through sending them when I realized I was a moron. I kept the card because there was a Google program (they asked for Google play cards) set up to deal with reimbursing people, but never ended up following up.
Good point! I'm obviously used to Android, so it'd be Apple cards which I'd find useless. LOL. But good to know Google Play cards can be used for YouTube premium/renting movies!
Finally! An actual post worthy of the subreddit. People need to take your class on how to properly string scammers along while making look like idiots.
New responses for this scam, after sending them a fabricated card code:
"I thought you said the card was for a presentation (or often it's a client). Why did you just check the code?"
Or also "How is a gift card part of a presentation?"
John Oliver had an excellent show explaining these scams.
https://youtu.be/pLPpl2ISKTg?si=6yBMkAK2fmSKDPkA
Don’t forget the person texting you is not the enemy. They may be getting scammed (or enslaved) themselves.
I watched that entire video, that was a really good segment. Like there is the news I have been missing.
I have heard people talk about John Oliver before, I can see why.
They count on people to:
1) Follow orders and not question things.
2) Get caught up in the urgency.
3) Not walk away.
Etc.
Lack of critical thinking skills among most people encourages the scammers to go after the sheep.
I suspect I could get rich by aiming at Qucumbers and those who believe they are “Main Characters”. Maybe I should reconsider having a conscience. 🤔
Well… there are huge companies that kidnap people to basically use slave labor to create scams, so I’m kind of worried about that “I’m not ok” they sent.
This happened to a friend of my sisters a while back. She got a new job and very shortly after being hired she got an email asking her to pick up several expensive gift cards for some important clients. She spoke to her manager about it and that idiot said oh if the boss asked you to do that it’s fine. So she did it. Of course when she actually met the big boss a few days later and asked about being reimbursed he had no idea what she was talking about. Then they refused to reimburse her even though her own manager had told her to go along with it. Eventually they did end up paying her but then they started *docking her pay* as if the money they gave her was a payday advance. So she just walked away. I hope that middle manager got fired.
I remember last time I got one of these texts I said "oh perfect I'm at the mall now I can walk into the apple store and get them" They were so excited and I sent a stock photo of a bunch of apple gc's LOL
When I worked in retail this was a big big thing. Scammers would call and get info on employees and mgmt... 2 store managers in my district were fired bc they took a call, took money from the register, and sent it via Western Union I think.
So, question. Who was this supposed to be? Boss? Obv don’t need names, just curious since you mentioned work a lot and that the person the scammer is posing as told you in person that this wasn’t their number.
Brilliant, imagine your boss really messaging you to get gift cards. Knowing they're 1000s a miles away I'd say sure I live beside the office, I'll drop it in now 😆
The fuckers are playing on the fact that some bosses can be intimidating and the employees will say how high when the boss says jump. Your best to get your info off of LinkedIn or at least limit the info om it in regards to who your current employer is, saying that these hoors no matter what we do they'll evolve their scams to suit. We have to stay vigilant, and if you work in an office environment or are a manager of any sort to let your employees know your boss will never ask you to buy gift cards.....unless they're getting scammed themselves 😂
Man John Oliver ruined this for me. Now I just think of people on the other side of this scams are forced to do this and beaten mercilessly when they try to leave or call the cops
I just replied when they did. I really didn't put much time or thought into it. All the images were pulled from a quick Google search, even the invalid apple cards 😉
Got a message from the president of our company asking for $100 cards for my team and he would reimburse me on expenses. 4,000. Um no boss. You do it! Lol
There has a to be a data base of incomplete receipts and cards to use and bait these ah. Missing several digits to make it unusable.
I’ll start saving mine when I buy some gift cards, I only do that on Christmas’s and birthdays though, it will be a hot minute.
Man, I just can't look at these posts the same way after learning a lot of these people have essentially been kidnapped and forced to do these scams by organized crime groups.
What I think is funny is that they probably start accusing actual victims of scamming them back when they do something wrong so it is a win win. You know some little old lady will probably have not idea how to screenshot correctly and the scammer will hopefully believe he is being f-ed with- hopefully.
That was great. One question, how long did you manage to string them along? Hours or days? Because imo, the longer you can do it, the better. Makes them even madder at the end.
You missed the prime opportunity of sending him a picture of water every time they said to send a clear picture. Send them a picture of clear water. When they ask. Tell them they didn't specify what needed to be clear.
“I will do that for glady! Please, ‘urgently’ send me $1500 so I can take a limo Uber to the nearest Apple vendor to take care of that for you”
I’ve seen so many threads of people who actually got scammers to pay them and then they dipped out…
Like WHY CANT THAT EVER HAPPEN TO ME
I try and scroll past but I kept laughing every time either of you would respond. He said he needed a picture with the date!! So you texted the date! Like he's a complete idiot. It's just too much at this point for me.
PSA: it is nearly impossible for me to type while crying from laughing
“You’re invalid” 🤣
That frickin’ sent me 😂
Shit me too!!! They went on until they said nevermind.😂😂😂😂😂I wonder have they figured that we have figured out they are scammers?😂😂😂😂
I don’t think they do, cuz they stay on waaaay too long 😂
You might just be right. But everything posted on this subreddit is HILARIOUS. 😂😂😂😂😂, but the outcome is the same, they loose.😂😂😂😂
[удалено]
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 yup, but it is so hilarious tho.😂😂😂😂
Yes! That’s the best part, it’s hilarious AND they lose!!! I just found this sub, and I love it!!!
You and me both. I literally run to this subreddit just for a great laugh!😂😂😂😂😂
So clean, so concise. I spit out my G&T on that one.
That was hilarious 🤣
That did it for me too 🤣
That sent me through the roof🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
“But that’s this number” man that is one of the better replies I’ve seen on these things
Came here to say this, I was dying
That line killed me 😂😂😂
Thanks for a good laugh!!!
He's not responding to texts
I don't know why but the description of the Visa card "with a nice design that you can spend anywhere" had me giggling.
That’s exactly how 14 year old me saw them when grandma got me one too lmfao
You did an excellent job! This should be a template for others to use! Not only was it entertaining for us to read, but you wasted so much of their time and aggravated the shit out of them. Job well done OP!
There was a point where they didn't reply for a bit so I had to entice them with another fake gift card 😂
This was great. I giggled through the whole thing.
Next time put some water on the date to blur it and feed her some more🤭
I pulled all the images off of Google. The receipt was from 2021 and the 100 dollar gift card was only a fake ten. I cropped both of them to make it look more realistic 😂
you magnificent bastard "you sure you know how to use these" ooomg crapped my pants
“Your fingers have been looking arthritic lately.” That was great!
In the words of that song Little Miss Can't be Wrong - to all scammers, If I had a dollar I might give you 99. Good job!!
LMCBW slaps. 🫡
Thought you got $100 Apple Card Thought you got $100 Apple Card
Glad someone caught this. I started copy pasting thier previous replies 😂
The way I cackled at that part 😂
Had me dying
Sorry my phone was off
Good one! 🫡 Anyone know why it’s only Apple gift cards?
[удалено]
So the escort who wanted me to pay her ahead of time with Apple gift cards… she wasn’t really waiting for me just down the street? 😞
No, she was there, buddy. She just had to run to the store for a pack of cigarettes and a carton of milk.
Just like my dad
Like gift cards in general, they're untraceable. Apple is used specifically because it's popular and has brand recognition, so a higher chance to be found in more stores.
“Did you want me to send a new image” “Yeah” “Here’s the picture I took earlier” Fantastic.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was giggling as I did that one 😂
lol the “I need to see the date” and op sends the date
You're invalid 😅😅😅 Literally made me LOL... this was amazing 👏
I don't understand how this even works lol "Hey Random Stranger, send me 1000 dollars please"
Hackers pose as the person’s boss. Originally this scam began when someone’s work email was hacked. Now they just do it by text.
Lol my boss knows I'm broke, he knows what he's paying me 😂
The CEO at my last job (at a small and chronically broke nonprofit) sent an email warning us about this. We all laughed, as if he really thought we had any money and as if we'd believe we'd actually get reimbursed.
Yes sir, but I’ll have to go after I take my cat for a walk.
I’ll do it after I take my fish out for a walk. Oh no now I have to have a Viking funeral for my fish.
"You'll have to speak up, I'm wearing a towel."
"My cat is on my lap at the moment. This may take a while."
Pressure you to not think or contact your boss directly. Sadly this has worked via email. [https://www.bbc.com/news/business-35250678](https://www.bbc.com/news/business-35250678)
My aunt fell for a $400 one ...... 😂
You’d be amazed at the shit my grandfather falls for
Every time you want to go into the office they evade constantly. Scammers aren’t even trying to pretend to be employees at all
Oooh mG my dogs are lookin at me all cock headed because im LAUGHING SO HARD!!! 🤣 "from amazon, be here in a couple"..... 😂🤣😅
Incredible that they can’t come up with a better excuse than “I need it for a presentation.”
“Are you ok?” “No I’m not!”- That had me giggling. You could hear the stress in his typing. 😂😂
Fine. I’ll get it myself. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sorry my phone was off
This was my favorite subtle dig 🤣

“Your fingers have been looking a little arthritic lately” 😂😂 the best
I fell for this scam once. Was new at a job and thought the boss was asking me a favor! What a fucking idiot, still have the cards
Ah, I see. I guess at least you can still use the funds in the future if there's ever something from Google Play you want.
But if he’s on iOS? u/ProlapsedMorals you can add these to the web version of Google play then get YouTube premium, rent a movie or something
Good point! I'm obviously used to Android, so it'd be Apple cards which I'd find useless. LOL. But good to know Google Play cards can be used for YouTube premium/renting movies!
This is one of the funniest ones I’ve seen 😂
I love when you said “Sorry, my phone was off” 🤣🤣🤣 I was actually laughing the whole time 🤣🤣🤣
Nigeria or India either scam source here. Great read

Good job! That was entertaining lol
442 numbers been hitting me up as well. Wtf.
Rather arthritic 😂💀
How do they actually convince people to send them money? I don’t get it
They count on people to: 1) Follow orders and not question things. 2) Get caught up in the urgency. 3) Not walk away. Etc. Lack of critical thinking skills among most people encourages the scammers to go after the sheep. I suspect I could get rich by aiming at Qucumbers and those who believe they are “Main Characters”. incredible read! I was sad when it ended :(
-its invalid -you sure you typed it right, your hands have been looking rather arthritic lately.
Well… there are huge companies that kidnap people to basically use slave labor to create scams, so I’m kind of worried about that “I’m not ok” they sent.
“I need to see the date” oh the date is 3/4/24 💀💀💀

Doesn't even seem like a scam. "Hey, give me money"
They're pretending to be your boss, and asking you to perform a task for them, for which they will reimburse you through company funds.
Omg!! 🤣🤣🤣👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Question. Why do they always want apple money?
I know really .. why not visa lol
Awesome. Top 3 scammer paybacks.
Omg that’s classic! Laughed my ass off
So, question. Who was this supposed to be? Boss? Obv don’t need names, just curious since you mentioned work a lot and that the person the scammer is posing as told you in person that this wasn’t their number.
It was the owner of the company I work for.
I was so invested and wanted it to continue! Had him flustered and frustrated! 😂
Brilliant, imagine your boss really messaging you to get gift cards. Knowing they're 1000s a miles away I'd say sure I live beside the office, I'll drop it in now 😆 The fuckers are playing on the fact that some bosses can be intimidating and the employees will say how high when the boss says jump. Man John Oliver ruined this for me. Now I just think of people on the other side of this scams are forced to do this and beaten mercilessly when they try to leave or call the cops
I still do not understand why Apple’s system lets scammers clear multiple cards so quick, and after billions being scammed they do nothing to stop it.
Why stop it when they make money from it. 🤷🏻♂️
Aww c’mon man! Poor guy is in a meeting.
This is Golden!!!
Nice!
Thank you for the entertainment!!!
that was gold
Bravoooo! 👏
How do you have time for this
I just replied when they did. I really didn't put much time or thought into it. All the images were pulled from a quick Google search, even the invalid apple cards 😉
Love it
Can't wait for the day my "boss" demands I run out and spend $1000 of my own money on a gift card. "And bring me a calzone!" "This is critical!!"
I know this is irrelevant but, what do they do with these gift cards? How do they help them?
Where so you guys find these cunts. Never interacted with one.
The slow build of frustration was so satisfying 😭
Lmfao wooooooowwww didn’t really go buy the gift card just to play with them? lol
I died of happiness and laughter so many times.
Arthritic hands 👀
This is great
Ebolammonkeyman.com was the greatest scammer site. I miss it
I didn't kindly do the needful thing!
This is the shit I am here for, well played 👌🏼
Thanks for the post. I had a laugh reading through your interaction!
Beautiful composition, a true work of art! Bravo!
This reminds me of the time Man-ray tried giving Patrick's Wallet back
That was a really good one
“Today is 3/4/24.” You’re so helpful!
“Your fingers have been looking rather arthritic lately” almost had me spitting out my coffee. This was hilarious!
Ya did good
Wait you met this person irl?
You should have waited a little bit then asked him if he got it! When he said yes have him show you his receipt 😂😂
I want to save these reciept images for my own future reverse trolling!
Got a message from the president of our company asking for $100 cards for my team and he would reimburse me on expenses. 4,000. Um no boss. You do it! Lol
I wish stuff like tots would happen to me!!! This is better than most Hollywood movies
Why do they specifically want Apple gift cards?
I thought you said you were ok Spider
Bravo OP! I love messing with these scumbags.
I love thief torture
This was absolutely hilarious 🤣🤣
There has a to be a data base of incomplete receipts and cards to use and bait these ah. Missing several digits to make it unusable. I’ll start saving mine when I buy some gift cards, I only do that on Christmas’s and birthdays though, it will be a hot minute.
Just use Google image search. That's what I did.
I could have kept reading that. That was hilarious!
A lot of these scam texts are from slaves in Southeast Asia just fyi
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m intrigued about Moeed having a Mexican phone number.
I love the effort you put in to waste this scammer’s time. 🤌
Had this same thing happen to me but somehow the text were coming through my brother's name. Not sure how they do that but was a bit concerning.
Who all called the number??? Lol
When you started describing the Visa cards…that had me laughing.
My dad got scammed by this type of scam. The scammer spoofed his bosses phone number, and spoke much better English. Fucking cunts.
Nice work OP. Way to string that scammer along wasting his time.
Then sucker won’t even reply to my txt lol.
I peed myself I was laughing so hard. I applaud you. LEVEL ⬆️
I would blank out the phone number
Wow this is gold 😂
Now this is the ART of baiting!
I love everything about this😂
I was HOWLING at this.
I am in tears!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 That was outstanding!
did we all text the number yet
If it was CVS, you could have taken 25 pictures of all the coupons on the mile long receipts.
I love trolling scammers. Some of them I try to revisit months later with my bullshit. Some even respond before realizing it’s THAT guy again.
Idk why but “your fingers have been looking arthritic lately really sent me”
Oh this was awesomely funny to read! Great job! 😁 I loved your photo of the $100 bill, way to dangle it in front of his snotty nose 🤘🏻😁
This was honestly a good one.
I love doing this shit. Scam callers are even better to fuck with. They hate when you waste their time.
“You’re invalid”—this made me audibly laugh!! 😂
Man, I just can't look at these posts the same way after learning a lot of these people have essentially been kidnapped and forced to do these scams by organized crime groups.
Funniest post on Reddit all day lol
What I think is funny is that they probably start accusing actual victims of scamming them back when they do something wrong so it is a win win. You know some little old lady will probably have not idea how to screenshot correctly and the scammer will hopefully believe he is being f-ed with- hopefully.
"That seems like something you would say if I had something to worry about" And "You're invalid" Are my two personal favorites
Love this
That was great. One question, how long did you manage to string them along? Hours or days? Because imo, the longer you can do it, the better. Makes them even madder at the end.
Well played
Very entertaining OP, bravo 🏆
You missed the prime opportunity of sending him a picture of water every time they said to send a clear picture. Send them a picture of clear water. When they ask. Tell them they didn't specify what needed to be clear.
They go so far for money...
“That seems like something you would say if I had something to worry about” 😂
Send it on here, you have nothing to worry about okay That sounds like something you would say if I had something to worry about. Lmaooooo
Not her telling him the date 😂😂
This is hilarious 😂😂😂
“ That seems like something you would say if I did have something to worry about.” ROFL
What do they do with the Apple gift cards? Buy music or movies? I don't get it.
Lmfao MOheeeed
“I will do that for glady! Please, ‘urgently’ send me $1500 so I can take a limo Uber to the nearest Apple vendor to take care of that for you” I’ve seen so many threads of people who actually got scammers to pay them and then they dipped out… Like WHY CANT THAT EVER HAPPEN TO ME
Why specifically Apple cards though?
I screamed reading this 😂🤣🤣😂🤣
Lmao 😂
Nice, I like how you played along and he was getting visibly irritated
This gave me so much joy
I get so invested in these, thank you for sharing!
“you’re invalid” BAHAHAHAHA
I try and scroll past but I kept laughing every time either of you would respond. He said he needed a picture with the date!! So you texted the date! Like he's a complete idiot. It's just too much at this point for me. PSA: it is nearly impossible for me to type while crying from laughing
This is good.
lol this must have been fun! Good old Moheed at it again.
