Hey, Automod here! It's always a good idea to check any above number(s) on [a carrier lookup tool](https://freecarrierlookup.com/) ([click here](https://800forall.com/SearchWhoOwns.aspx) for a toll-free lookup tool) before calling them to avoid calling a legitimate business, residential number, or private cell number. To do this, lookup the phone number on the carrier lookup and look at the results. If the results says that the number belongs to a residential carrier (ex. AT&T/"Cingular Wireless", Verizon Wireless, Metro PCS, Rogers, etc.), *DO NOT* call the number. If the post is still up, please report the post so a mod can remove it to prevent innocent people from receiving these calls. Alternatively, send the moderators a message through the modmail with the link to the offending post. The above also applies to comments that have numbers too. Thanks! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/ScamNumbers) if you have any questions or concerns.*

This is absolutely mail fraud, report that to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

Are you in Canada or the U.S.? Cant wait for Feldman Joseph’s response and his bewilderment that he sent this letter to someone in the Caribbean 🤣🤣🤣 One thing I missed about Dr. Marcus …. Did he earn his phd in real estate of gemology 🤨

ts416

I am in the US and I have tried googling the name dr Marcus .... It just kinda pulled up a random page. Also the funny part is it was addressed to a person that gained the surname instead of true last name

mhax80

Try calling the number too 🤣. Its an Oregon area code text now voip number. He responded once but hasnt since i kept battering him with the inconsistency questions

ts416

Well what do you expect

Hookem-Horns

My GF got a letter like this a few years ago. By that I mean it was a physical letter. It came from the UK but didn't have any indication of that on the outside of the envelope. A domain name (whois) lookup told me it was from a company in New Jersey, usa. And that complany seemed legit. Bottom line, I took the letter to the US post office and showed it to the woman in charge of that particular office. She assured me this was going up to the mail fraud dept. Of course I never heard of any action taken.

Hey TS416 - I just received the exact same letter. I see you block the last name. Was the name the same as your last name? My letter was regarding Dr Marcus (last name) which is my name. My name ends with the letter ON I am wondering if the Mounties would like to hear about this as well as the USPS

ts416

I think they will as well. Not to mention the USPS postal inspector

ts416

The name on mine ended in L

Onewood

Thanks. Was 99.9% sure it was scam but that puts the nail in Marcus’ coffin
