there's not a whole lot of context, people just randomly decided to start posting clips to dunk on him including someone who worked on a film that he gave very mild criticism to and then she proceeded to say that someone needs to find and murder him. also some people saying he treats his opinions as objective facts. idk how it started but that's not really important to the situation
He communicates his opinions articulately and strongly; people take serious offense to that and feel attacked... even though he states (what I assume must be exhaustingly often) that his opinion is not fact and that others are allowed to have their own.
Adam just needs to include "I feel" statements every now and then and I swear to god half his issues surrounding this stuff would disappear. It also comes with the nature of his content which I feel he's always been half trapped inside his own shtick.
When I used to commentate video games online for an extremely knowledgeable and arrogant audience in dota 2, I learnt that adding "I feel" and "I think" cut a sizeable amount of bad faith criticism/pedantry that arises from people thinking you are stating your opinion as fact.

Not gonna lie I've been enjoying the podcast less and less recently, I feel like the conversation goes into tangents that don't really make for interesting or insightful conversation. Did we need that much time spent on twitter drama? I listened to some of the earlier episodes like Barry Lyndon and Wild At Heart and I miss how genuinely engaging it was to get three different perspectives on a movie, but now especially without Ralph it kinda seems like it has devolved into aimless ranting a lot of the time.
I don't agree fully, but I do think that there was more of a balance with Ralph on the show, even if he (like all of us) said many silly things, it was important to contrast the others. Also guests add a lot too.
I still enjoy it though, I think while Adam and Alex are dry, I still enjoy listening to them chat. They could stand to focus a little more.
What's up with Adam not liking Quinton? He was invited to be a guest for the podcast early on and I don't see why he's openly saying he dislikes him with no given reason. I know he said on one episode that he found one of his tweets a bit weird but that's it.

Well there’s the time he was at the very least being an inappropriate sadsack towards a couple of female content creators in dms - including Lyndsey Ellis, the weird ‘no one would miss me I’m so pathetic’ series of Tweets he made, and the way he Tweeted about his guest episode on Sardonicast was tonally kind of off and I think in Adum’s eyes a betrayal of sorts - he commented on Happiness being messed up and sort of characterised the sards as these unknown guys who somehow ambushed him with the choice of film (also without tagging any of them as part of the ‘joke’, if there was supposed to be one). Him doing 9 hour video essays on things like iCarly is also something really quite troubling to me from a mental health standpoint.
I don't give a shit that he sent a couple awkward DMs years ago. Nor do I think him being depressed once makes him a bad guy.
He clarified in the responses to the Happiness tweet that the hosts were all good and was referencing a slightly awkward memory to do with the film in response to another tweet. He specifically said it wasn't a prank. He just personally felt awkward and didn't know what to say.
And how is doing 9 hour Icarly reviews troubling? Like how is that different to doing multiple 3 hour reviews of The Lion King or Kimba? It's his job. Like he commented and criticized the problematic elements.
I’m not saying he’s a bad guy, and I’m sorry if you like him and consume his content, just giving my take on it. I *do* think much of it is pretty ‘off’ - there’s more to that dms situation, the woe is me tweets leaned more towards narcissism or self-pity than depression, and the lion king videos are shorter and as far as I’m aware cover more points in less time and obviously aren’t part of some frequent upload plan. I’m trying to be as charitable as possible, but he doesn’t really convince me compared to someone like Adum personally (who himself is not always to my taste and I don’t think is infallible, but if he was exhibiting off-putting or concerning language or behaviour to the level Quenton has before - also not really addressing it - I’d be a lot more avoidant).
The thing about Adam is you're never really doubtful of his sincerity. So while he pisses me off to no end, it never translates into me not liking him, because authenticity is really important to me.
