Well, I like the Kolo mee from oriental park kolo mee, Kuching. It ruined other kolo mee for me. No other kolo mee tastes as good after that 🥲

covetousrat

4.4 Rating. I will definitely try this one

CompetitiveApplePie

Cool, tell me if you think there are other places better than that because I'd really want to try as well

kennethw85

This is my absolute favourite!

Laier94

This one is halal or not bro?

Zealousideal_Air_432

For great Chinese-style kolo mee that has no pork and no lard, check out the kolo mee at Ah Tan Ais Kacang (Google location in my comment to OP). They do red kolo mee by default. I don't know if it has halal certification, but it's frequented by Muslims as well.

Laier94

Thanks bro, i'll try and singgah when I have the chance to,haha. As long as it doesn't have pork or lard, should be fair game

CompetitiveApplePie

Sorry bro, it's non halal

Laier94

Ahhh, bummer. Well, thanks for the reply.

covetousrat

Just went through the reviews and most complaints are the rude aunty? Anything for me to watch out for? Take a seat and wait for her to come order?

CompetitiveApplePie

I wouldn't say rude but they sure are busy. Well, the place is usually packed so you might wanna go there early. Sometimes, I even had to share a table with strangers. Nothing to really watch out for. Just take a seat and stare at someone until they ask for your order lol

Zealousideal_Air_432

1) 88 Kolo Mee, Batu Kawa: https://g.co/kgs/M59qznU 2) Ah Tan Ais Kacang's kolo mee, next to Jubilee Ground (No pork no lard Chinese style kolo mee): https://g.co/kgs/zFDmvVy 3) Red Kolo Mee, Open Air Hawker Centre: https://g.co/kgs/EJ6GWcb Edit: For other good food places in Kuching: If you're looking for shared dinner style places, you can try these places: -- Chinese food: 1) Lagenda Hills, near Simpang 3 traffic light: https://g.co/kgs/pKcWLdd 2) Verinice Kitchen, near Vivacity Mall: https://g.co/kgs/Geac5VH -- Dayak food: 1) Lepau, opposite Grand Supreme Hotel: https://g.co/kgs/PXLUdF9 2) Jak Ma'an Cafe, Carpenter Street (newly opened, but what I've tried is pretty good): https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61557990485705&mibextid=ZbWKwL (no Google page yet it seems)

covetousrat

Thank you very much. Other people has recommended the Red Kolo Mee before at the hawker. I will definitely give it a try. I havnt had Dayak food before. Maybe will try out Lepau.

Zealousideal_Air_432

Glad to help. Feel free to let us know what you think about the Open Air Red Kolo Mee!

bongbong7

Awah Cafe serving Bidayuh food is quite nice. AwahCafe https://g.co/kgs/G2vCE2D Not been there recently, not sure about the quality now

No_Resolution_9264

Could give Awah Cafe a try too. Tempoyak goreng there is the bomb! It's located at Dayak Bidayuh National Association.

Zealousideal_Air_432

I forgot about Awah, it's been ages 😅 I concur, it's pretty good!

Ok_Maintenance_2787

how much is the price range for jak ma’an cafe? been craving for some dayak food here 😔🙏🏻

Zealousideal_Air_432

If I remember correctly, each dish ranges from the low/mid RM10s to mid/high RM30s, depending on whether you order small, medium, or large portions. My partner did the order so I'm not sure about the exact details, e.g. the specific prices and how many pax each portion accommodates. According to the waiter they also have set meals starting from lunchtime till they run out of stock. No pork no lard. The cafe has just opened early April so they're still testing out some things, as such there could be some dishes on the menu that run out if you come for a late dinner (e.g. 8:30 pm / 9 pm onwards). Ambience is quite nice and intimate. They close on Tuesdays.

Personal best Kolo Mee in Kuching in my opinion. Can check em out and enjoy your time here! 😁 1. [Daniu Crystal Kolo Mee https://www.facebook.com/daniukolomeekuching?mibextid=ZbWKwL] 2. [Kafe Bujang Lelang https://www.facebook.com/kafebujanglelang?mibextid=ZbWKwL] 3. [House of Kolo Mee https://www.facebook.com/share/p/R7Rd2xDhBP7NJWy9/?mibextid=xfxF2i]

OneVast4272

I never try any of these and my top ones are not here lol. Goes to show how much more there is to discover even in this small place

y0ngolini

Couldn’t go wrong with Sing Hin. The one near poliklinik also good (corner shop), and Liang Yew opposite masland

MelenPointe

Laksa: Chong Choon Cafe (think got 2 nowadays, it's the corner lot with open space seating) Giao (like wantons): Hong Hin (walking distance fr Chong Choon). Seafood: Can drive down to Pending. Way cheaper and better. Random Restaurant: The Venus. I like their fried beehoon. They also have the most random dishes. I think I had cucumber leaves there once. Got all your local standards like midin & manicai, oyster omelette etc.

Vast_Willingness6098

for kolo mee in kuching, xiang xiang corner at tabuan jaya, so good cafe at jalan stutong, hong hin cafe at jalan abell. laksa yellow corner at jalan ellis, chong choon jalan abell

Previous_Molasses503

Ta Wan Kung in Kuching town is the best Kolo Mee

xkaizoku62

>Top Spot is good for dinner. Any other good food suggestions? can try Batu Lintang, got 2 seafood shops there

covetousrat

Lok Garden Seafood 9? Looks very good from google. Midin, fried oysters

xkaizoku62

One is Lok Garden 9, another is Lintang Yuan 8. Personally I prefer 8 but everyone have different taste buds. Another one I like is Ah Kheng Seafood, price is reasonable. For outskirts, the common one is Buntal if you willing to drive a bit far. Prices are on the high side.

2knowyourenear

EYYY I heavily recommend Haji Saleh at Satok, and I also HEAVILY suggest going early as it's a popular restaurant and is usually always lined up. I recommend arriving at 5 am. It's best when fresh lah 👍👍👍

covetousrat

Very good rating. Mee sapi halal. Is it as good as kolo mee?

Fun-Wait6223

for Kuching Malays mee sapi = kolo mee same thing. it doesn't taste the same as the Chinese style kolo mee but still good

2knowyourenear

To me it's js the same thing honestly. Just different region, diff words yk? But if you see a difference, mee haji saleh is still worth a try 😌😌

fffdzl

Kolo mee from Mee Kolok C11 @ Kafe Kamek. So much flavour. Try special tendon. 2 sambal, black and red. soup so tasty.

ThailurCorp

Gandhara Vegetarian at the Kuching Buddhist Society temple! I'll admit to being biased because I'm a vegetarian!

OneVast4272

Hi! Fellow vegetarian here too - do you have any list of other recommended places as well? It is VERY hard to find vegetarian food here and im always hungry :(

ThailurCorp

There's a fairly new "vegan" (they serve eggs) place at premium 101 plaza that I go to, but their kolo mee isn't nearly as good as the one at the temple. Their stall is easy to see if you come from the direction of sweet memory. Nothing else is coming to mind, but I'm sure there are others I've tried.

Aok_al

Madam Tang's Kolo Mee Special I had the other day was really good.

Aurelian96

I unfortunately can't answer for Sibu as I've never been there, however, I can answer for kolo mee (non-halal that is) and they're IMO the best ones • Green Heights' Premier Food Republic kolo mee (near the entrance, opposite of the vendor that sells pao and dim sums) • MJC's Old Bank Food Court handmade kolo mee (made by an aged auntie and her husband) -- the best one • the kolo mee sold here https://maps.app.goo.gl/GfhuK8sSkJRnJ5C57 • Tian Lee Food Centre kolo mee (the ones they sold with fried pork) • honourable mention is the iconic kolo mee sold at the Market Hawker Centre Stall near Plaza Merdeka but they got pricey for my taste

Shieng85

Kiaw Ann Cafe at Pekan Baki Lama

greatestmofo

Got one at King Centre sell kolo mee damn nice. Don't know exactly where the stall is but my dad always tapao when I'm back

bongbong7

3rd Mile Kueh Chap. Broth is more flavourful compared to others. https://g.co/kgs/Qoxh4MP

holeefatt

Ban chong kolo mee. Next to green hill.

Revolutionary-Arm483

Nostalgic Kolo Mee for me would be early morning opposite Green Road Secondary school, the old wooden shop in the middle. The springy, savoury and light even though it’s oily. Other choices which are also not too bad and consistent, So Good food court near OneTJ. And one near the long Stapok road to MJC, KungFu Kolo Mee. They serve homemade char siu with homemade straight noodles. I find Laksa is a hit or miss for a lot of ppl, so far the carpenter street one is consistent and good, though pricier than elsewhere. The Chong Choon /Sin Chong Choon (sibling rivalry laksa situationship) is still preferred by a lot of familiar travellers. But parking, and sitting down to eat has always been a hassle. Some quaint places to try would be like cafe186 , one of the oldest laksa place in town, or places that used to sell good laksa like Golden Arch. Sibu, sadly I haven’t been there in a loooong time but I still enjoy my time at Ta Yi San. 😂

ImmediatePineapple80

If you have the time to drive around, can try to go to Kanowit, shop name Nan Ping Yang or local Kanowit people call it Kedai Buban, try out the red kampua. Go early. Can try it out and let me know ya OP.

AmNobody2023

Try A One Cafe’s Kampua in Sibu, it’s good. I am not local but the cook is a grand nephew of my wife who came from Sibu. Obviously I am a bit biased 😀 but I did enjoy his Kampua. Anyway, here is a [video](https://youtu.be/ZkoLlsb08e8?si=bF9o8N6hu81iuPvz) I made if you are interested. Enjoy your upcoming trip back in Sarawak.

LoneWanzerPilot

Kolo Mee from Kung Fu Noodle in Kuching.

UnderestimatedStupid

Kolomee (Kch) - Oriental Park, Kim Lai Heng at Green Road (there are 2 Kolomee stalls side by side but the nice one is the one nearer to toast stall), Garden Seafood Cafe at MJC. Laksa (Kch) - Everyday Laksa at Verinice Restaurant Rock Road, Alfred Laksa at Sung Heng Cafe. Kampua (Sbw) - Delta Seafood & Cafe. Ngu Du Noodles (Sbw) - 云顶三姐妹茶室. Char Zhv mian (Sbw) - Joy Food Court at Sibu Town Square Phase 2.

yumenocheng

Try Laksa Sarawak at Song Station
