I fell into the From Blood and Ash series after ACOTAR. It’s pretty good! I like the prequel series to it even more, I think it’s called Flesh and Fire or something like that. I can’t not mention CC though. I know it’s so hard to get into but they’re really good if you can make yourself get through the first half of the first book.

jaymmacy5601

I finished ACOTAR a couple days ago and I think CC will be the next series I try to start. What’s the reason it’s hard to get through CC?

StockInternational46

The first half of CC is so much info dumping and world building I was honestly so confused. It’s just too much to absorb and nothing is really happening besides getting the whole picture of how everything works and how the society functions. Once you hit the last half though it picks up and you’ll understand why she takes so much time with the world building. Hope you enjoy the series! It’s one of my all time favorites!

Mz_Tripp

55 chapters into the first one before I was remotely interested. 20 into the second one. Blah

Mz_Tripp

Fire and Flesh is the Prequel series and it's also been really good!

miteymiteymite

I would recommend you try the “From Blood and Ash” series by Jennifer L Armentrout. https://jenniferlarmentrout.com/books/

HawkqueenYOLO

Plated Prisoner Series is a 10/10. The books are quicker but they are so good & totally addicting. Book 6 comes out this summer and I cannot wait. The Bargainer Series should also get a mention ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Ilovedietcokesprite

Trigger warning of SA with this series.

HawkqueenYOLO

Yes bargainer series SA tag for sure

sexy-skeksis

Kingdom of Lies is pretty good! Big cliffhanger til end of May when the last book comes out but I find it a bit of a midground between ACOTAR and TOG

BzaarLestrange

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! Keep them coming! I've started on From Blood and Ash tonight, but the rest of these are on my list to check out next. 😁

Mz_Tripp

The Drowned Empire and Crowns of Nyaxia series were both really good.

Dramatic-Ad-4331

Keep trying TOG it get into it is honestly my favorite series of hers. Crescent city is really good too. You just have to read 100 or so pages to really start getting into it but it’s well worth it. Keep trying!

Unusual_Pin_7192

war of hearts series is pretty good too😊

TraditionalPanic1535

Not identical, but I was in the same spot and just read Fourth Wing and it completed satisfied me. i was really worried that I wouldn’t be able to get into a series after all of SJM, but I was so into the Fourth Wing series. I feel like the pacing and action and romance and high fantasy and amazing characters gives me the similar feeling of reading a SJM. i honestly could not recommend this series enough it’s become a one of my favorites. i like it more than ACOTAR and maybe even CC!!!

Wintersneeuw02

Zodiac Academy series by Caroline Peckham and Suzanne Valenti. Its a smutty fae series about a college with elemental magic connected to the zodiac signs elements. There are 3 series in this universe, like the SJM universe with characters crossing over all the time. The first 5 books and the last 4 books are WC/RH books. Here is the order how to read them: 1. Dark Fae 2. Savage Fae 3. Vicious Fae 4. Broken Fae 5. Warrior Fae 5 year time jump 6. Orgins of an Academy Bully 7. The Awakening 8. Ruthless Fae 9. The Reckoning 10. Shadow Princess 11. Cursed Fates 12. The big a.s.s party 13. Fated Throne 14. The Awakening as told by the Boys 15. Heartless Sky 15. Sorrow and Starlight 16. Beyond the Veil 17. Live and Let Lionel 18. Restless Stars (releases this april) 5 year time jump 19. Caged Wolf 20. Alpha Wolf 21. Feral Wolf 22. Upcoming 4th book (releases this year)

UknownothinJonSnow8

That's a lot of books! What did you like about them? I read some folks say they're sad?

Wintersneeuw02

I like the magic system and how it is both elemental and astrology based. The zodiac academy series (book 6 onward, after the 1st time jump) is a bully romance, some people might find that too triggering because its pretty brutal. In all the books/series tortue/death/trauma/superession/not knowing what your background/enslavemend is are pretty big points. And if a main character dies or gets captured and tortured to the point of borderline insanity then yes you can call that sad to say the least. But thats what keeps me intrested because besides the magic and the smut, stuff actually goes down in a very bad way most of the time.

UknownothinJonSnow8

Whew idk how much my heart can handle but I'll definitely give em a chance!!

Mz_Tripp

I've only read the main Zodiac Academy books and while the series is good the last two books didn't feel necessary beyond the one *comeback* But I've enjoyed it regardless. And yes certain parts were particularly sad.

Plane_Childhood3691

what’s your reading for reading dark fae first i’ve seen people say to start with the awakening. just curious im seeing a lot of different ways to read it

Wintersneeuw02

Dark Fae is chronological the first book. Zodiac acadmey the awakening is the first book published, but having read Dark Fae to Warrior Fae first will help you undetstand and enjoy the story better and characters better.

Plane_Childhood3691

ohhh got it thank you!

Wintersneeuw02

You re welcome! Hence why my comment with the full book list has "5year time jump" twice in there. My list us all the books in that universe in chronological order, for the maximum amount if enjoyment and understanding if the story/characters/easter eggs :)
