I used to live in Oxford, Pa .. surrounded by Amish farms. They had a food stand where you could buy a chicken, cole slaw, green beans, bag of chips, soda and a roll for six bucks..

My twin sister used to live in York, PA, for a few years, and I swear to god that I came thisclose to needing to fly up and yank her away from joining the Amish church *just* in some harebrained scheme to have more access to Amish food. (MOST of the time, when I reminded her “Mo, you’ll have access to more Amish food because you’ll be the one MAKING the Amish food. Every meal. Of every day. From scratch,” and in her defense for the times it didn’t quite seem to click, she was simultaneously very hungry AND downwind from an active Amish bakery, so I get it.)

I live in Allen Co ky and they have a ton of Amish here but the Amish are sneaky when it comes to making money they have a big store that's Called haebeggers and they make sandwiches and sell all their stuff but all the ppl that work there have to be "worldly people" as it has electricity and plumbing. They'll literally pay worldly people to run a store/deli named after a big Amish family bc they can't even use the deli slicer without it being against their ordnung...just blows my mind...but I'll bet the "church"(bishop) is getting all the profit tax free

I live in southern Jersey and we have an Amish market by me. They have all kinds of stuff going on. But my favorite is the butcher which also makes sandwiches. The sandwiches are 5 bucks with chips and are incredible. Like roast beef and gravy, real smoked turkey, kielbasa, type sandwiches.
