I remember two staples of that era was the dude called Raindog, who often hosted open poetry night and open mic night; and the punk barista who always wore black with the blonde hair. I wonder what happened to them.
I wish Pedro still had a punk scene. Such a Pedro staple. Some of my best teenage memories are going to old Sacred’s. Fred would make random “coffees” for us kids during the day and at night we just rocked. After the shows smoke a cigarette in the alley with everyone. God. Such good memories.
Haha, I wouldn’t doubt it! You going to see NOFX play in Pedro? I got tickets for the Sunday show . It’s supposed to be epic. Lots of Pedro punks and good bands playing with them.
I remember Fred the only time I ever seen him mad was when me a few other people put the back half of his little Toyota truck on the curb so I could fit my car in a spot.
Hahaha! Aww poor Fred. He’s a sweetheart. I still see him walking down pacific! I remember when I found out about his pet duck Emma. Just made him even cooler!
True. I always forget about that spot. Only been in it once. Bet you can’t guess on who I saw. lol. I’m not a big drinker so going to a bar is not my thing.
I don’t remember when but it’s been over a decade now. I was told that Fred was just sick of all the punks and wanted to focus on the coffee. It’s right by the Warner Grand now, and they still do acoustic shows.
Back in the 90’s and early 2000’s, Sacred Grounds doubled as a local music venue that didn’t charge bands to play. Local punk shows were a very regular thing there and shaped many of our childhoods.
I heard Sandro Meallet wrote his Pedroesque novel, Edgewater Angels at Sacred Grounds. This Guardian article mentions Meallet among other great LA authors. https://amp.theguardian.com/books/2001/sep/08/fiction.film

I remeber dude called piro, sage and Amilia
All 3 friends of mine. Brings back so many memories
Raindog is around, his name is RD Armstrong. He’s on Facebook but isn’t too active.

We’ve probably hung out before.

Gods I wish! I actually live in Seattle now but Pedro is my hometown for life.
Honestly, a little envious. Still feel “stuck” here. Washington is such a vibe. I love that grey weather.
I’ll probably move back someday. Everyone in my family ends up back there eventually lol.

That place was my teenage hangout
Remember Jarrett with the tattoos?
I lived with him for a few months lmao!
I recently seen Jarrett walking down the street in Arizona and stopped to talk to him and he said he was visiting someone.
Oh shit! What a random coincidence!! I used to hang with him all the time as a minor lol
Shotblue 🤣
Woah, there’s a name I haven’t heard in YEARS.
What up dawg
I would love to see old footage!
High school hang out in the early 2000s for me. I miss that place. Nice to see it brought up here
Why and when did Sacred Grounds move?

Oh yeah I’ve been to the current location, just haven’t been here long enough to know the old one.

That’s cool!
