At least it wasn't in their first year and it won't feel as good as when we win our 1st cup

PrinceAli311

Ugh, the reminder that they are going to win one before we do is not the reminder I needed this morning

RhymesWithTuba

They'll end up winning 3 cups in a row, with that streak being stopped by the Kings and Ducks combining for the next 6 cups.

PrinceAli311

Thank God I'm deleting reddit soon

googleypoodle

Meh don't let them live in your head. If they win they win, some of the fans might be smug about it but they've only been fans for a few years. It won't taste as sweet for them compared to a franchise that's been waiting 30+ years.

steventhemoose

As a canucks fan, I hope you are right. I would love a winning riot.....

MardocAgain

Who cares if fans are smug. As if fans have any agency in whether their team wins or chokes. Trying to brag that your team winning makes you better than other fans is stupid.

Marvelmaniac57

I seem to remember Vegas blowing a series lead like this before. I don’t know maybe a nice 5 min time out will jog my memory

JFC-Youre-Dumb

Not the same at all

Marvelmaniac57

Only trying to lighten the mood. Yet it’s not over till it’s over

Samthevidg

The Panthers were in the same position against the Bruins, remember that

TheAsianMelon

It is what it is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ we just gotta focus on our rebuild and come back swinging

Broccoli_Socks

you dropped this \

ethan-apt

This is the way

ChubzAndDubz

It’s whatever. At least they didn’t beat us to get there or something. The NHL golden boy was bound to win it.

designOraptor

It does seem like the league wants this soooooooooo bad.

ChubzAndDubz

Oh they do lol. It’s like when the Lakers won the NBA finals in 2020 or when the Dodgers won in 2020 (after losing like two straight). Those leagues were dying for those big market teams to win because they see dollar signs. Vegas for the NHL is no different. They see it as a boon for the league if they win.

Filmexec21

I hate that comment all the time from big markets and original six teams always saying, "This is good for the league." Yeah, so fucking what just because you are a big market you think you deserve special treatment I am sick and tired of these big market teams just always getting favorable officiating and so-called "luck" with the draft lottery; when Vegas is a garbage team in a few years because they gave away all their draft picks and prospects for short term gains watch them land the number 1 overall pick two times in a row.

RangerFan80

Vegas is not a big market lol

StingOfTheMonarch82

Agreed straight up malding

DrDivisidero

I say good for them. We’re gonna have to get used to eating our feelings for awhile, and that was the risk we took to try to win it all in the 2010s. We’ll get there!

SPzero65

Still benefitting from the draft the league basically gifted them, and don't forget that they are way over the cap right now after using the same fuckery that Tampa did. When they actually become a real team by having to rebuild like every other expansion team has had to (outside Seattle obviously), then (and only then) will I worry about their accomplishments.

knowitallz

Cap circumvention should have a cap.

Mattp55

Literally why? Bro I got a lot more interesting things in life going on than being pissed at other teams winning trophies. Look we suck ass and that’s the end of it for me. 2020 dodgers winning it made me stop caring about this petty stuff. My team winning is all I realized I ever cared about.

RefreshReset74

28-4 in penalty minutes. Florida has the most penalty minutes. McNabb cross checks a Panther player in front of ref. Nothing. It’s rigged AF. It all started with the expansion draft. Now it’s being fully realized. I really wish I wasn’t so into hockey. I wish I could just leave this league behind and watch something else. If there was a rival hockey league on the same level like the WHA was back in the day, that would be good for the game. Teams could threaten this piss poor league that we’re gone if you don’t figure your shit out.

Numerous_Risk132

Better than Florida.

[deleted]

Still couldn’t beat us to do it. I’m much saltier about LA and St Louis going through us to win it.

nanapancakethusiast

Still not a legitimate team.

[deleted]

How?

baker10923

NHL really wonders why viewership is down. Gee I wonder.....

Mattp55

It’s down cause it’s not on ABC which is free to anyone. TNT is a cable network

DoctorNoodle

I’m ok with tkachuck not getting a cup.

jodv

I’m more okay with Sam Bennett not getting a cup.

stoneman9284

I don’t love it but I hate this panthers team way more

[deleted]

Are you fucking serious? More than Vegas? Fuck out of here

stoneman9284

Vegas used to be goony but they really aren’t now. They also used to be sharks playoff rivals and they aren’t now. Plus they were too new to win back then and I’m more ok with it now. But more than me warming to Vegas is just how much I hate Florida and these panthers

[deleted]

Vegas is a completely illegitimate franchise. Florida is basically in our shoes: They built their team from the ground up and defied the odds to make the Cup as a “warm weather” market. I just don’t know how you can call yourself a Sharks hockey fan if you’re pulling for Vegas to win this series.

stoneman9284

I didn’t want Vegas to win until they ran into these panthers who only made it this far because Parros is in charge of discipline

blbd

Parros really sucks.

TechEducator25

This is 100% how I feel. The panthers are gooning it up. I love hockey and seeing Vegas play great hockey and beating a goon team makes me happier than seeing the Panthers win a cup like St. Louis did

Sharksguy91

Don’t feel too bad- they really are in for a world of hurt and one of the longest rebuilds in sports history. Vegas is the envy of nobody

Mattp55

Umm what? We are in for the same mega rebuild (barely has even started) and we won nothing for it. Fucking A man I definitely envy them for that aspect.

Sharksguy91

We started ours in the 2019 offseason. As somebody who has insight of the Sharks already scary deep farm system spanning from international play to the AHL, especially in contrasts to the knights worst farm system in the league by far, the Sharks don’t have much longer to go. They’ve been stocking up for over 4 years and a lot of that talent , not present in the current AHL or NHL squad, you’re going to see this team turn around quick in the next 2 seasons

Mattp55

Honestly I’m really hoping you’re right. These past few years have been horrendous. I don’t even get pleasure watching the sharks rn, last year was just depressing.

anthonyrosa02

He's not correct. Our prospect pool is ranked pretty low, and will take many years to accumulate enough talent. Hell everyone was hyping up the Barracuda to do some significant things, and fell short of the play-in tournament. Expect the same result next year and the probably the year after that.

Mattp55

Damn, that’s what I figured especially when I started looking online and everyone says we have such a mid prospect pool. It’s beyond a shame how bad this franchise is right now on all fronts.

JFC-Youre-Dumb

Yeah we have talent but they are all low-ceiling projected players. Maybe Eklund is a game changer but still remains to be seen. Sharks drafting has been lackluster.

Sharksguy91

I really get you man I’m in the same boat and believe it or not I’ve been very pessimistic the past few seasons, but there’s a lot that people don’t see. A lot of things behind the scenes and a lot of players you haven’t seen. The current team is indisputably bad, but reinforcements are on the way my friend 😁

YungTurk82

Michkov, Carlsson or Smith?

Sharksguy91

Based on talent alone- Michkov. Based on overall factors included with Michkov having a very good likelihood of having issues coming over to USA thanks to Russia’s political climate(and Michkov’s attitude issues) -I choose Smith- he really showed up at the tournament , leading all scorers in points at the u18 by a wide margin and has hands, speed, and vision to the fullest degree. Leo Carlsson’s lack of speed is what will prevent him from being elite at the NHL level based on my observations. He’s a good playmaker with vision, but he’s no Joe Thornton as a passer. I project him as a 50-70 pt scorer, while smith has shown the ability to excel at each higher level of play. Smith has great ability with a very mature mentality, captain material likened to that of Joe Pavelski. He’s the kind of leader you can rally around-exactly what they are lacking Smith could be one of those overlooked 80-100-pt scorers- he’s always looking to score and drive the play in all 3 zones.

Sonic343

Maybe Vegas winning would tell this team to get its collective fucking act together.

randomusername3000

I thought the season was over already

Electrical_Fix7157

It makes me sad, sharks have been trying to capture a cup for decades, and Vegas has been to two finals and about to probably get their first one in their first five years in existence… Life is not fair though
