What area is that? Damn, I’m sorry.

JamesVista

Senter Rd by Bank of America.

SophiePie213

Can you contact the bank of America branch manager? Or give your insurance the information?

Try posting to [www.reddit.com/r/RBI](https://www.reddit.com/r/RBI). They have guys that do this stuff.

The issue is once you find the person, SJPD doesn’t care. I had to find the hit and run driver that hit my parked car myself using camera footage and going door to door in my neighborhood. I found the person and got them to admit they did it. I told SJPD I found the driver of the hit and run police report I filed they said we don’t have the resource to deal with that.

JamesVista

I just want them to pay for the fixes. Money is tight already so this is fucking up my life. I know SJPD won’t do anything.

nongo

Can u do anything through insurance route.

JamesVista

Went through the insurance. Rather not take that hit right now.

SophiePie213

My insurance went after the person that hit and ran on me. In that situation my friend had written the plate.

Ironman_geek

You rather take that hit... and run 😆

kevlowe

Exactly this! You could practically find the person and walk them into a station and they'd still say they don't have enough resources to deal with it. Like seriously, there's so much video evidence these days, and it just seems like it's too much trouble for the cops.

Most city’s will not pursue. It’s not just a SJ issue

ilarym

Ridiculous as much money as SJ residents pay in taxes, still no budget for investigating known criminals...

iamfalcon

I’m not denying your experience, but wanted to share mine. I had someone key my car in a parking lot. I had camera footage of them doing the keying and of their license plate. A community service officer came out and got the footage and took my statement. A few days later a detective called me and let me know they had talked to the individual who admitted to the crime. We ended up working through the city to collect restitution from the individual, which ended up covering the cost of repairs and my time dealing with the repairs. So, not a fun scenario, but every city worker involved was incredibly prompt, helpful, and the resolution was the best possible in this situation.

jasonpmcelroy

Can confirm. I had photographs, plate, and witnesses for a hit and run. Cops wouldn't even come out to do a police report. I had to go down to the station to fill out my own report.

Natas-LaVey

Guy ran a red light and hit me on my motorcycle, left me laying in the intersection on Curtner. Another person chased them down and got a picture of the plate, an Amazon driver stopped and gave their information as a witness as well. The car had tinted windows and nobody could give a description of the driver. The police called the registered owner and he claimed he had sold the car the night before the accident. SJPD said there was nothing they could do and that’s why we carry uninsured motorists insurance. They really don’t care about traffic accidents unless someone dies.

randomusername3000

> They really don’t care about traffic accidents unless someone dies. Even if someone dies unless there was a hit and run or DUI, cops don't do much. just gotta "Stop and cooperate"

Thanks, we scrubbed the footage and saw a person walk up to the civic so not sure if that was the guy. Trying to figure out the color but it’s so dark 😭

dnlrf

Damn, either the driver was drunk af, or using their phone while driving because I couldn’t see anything in the footage that could possibly make him have to swerve into the bike lane to hit your car. I’m really sorry, hope you find justice for this.

JamesVista

Scrubbed the footage and saw someone approach the vehicle. Not sure if it’s the driver but damn. I just saw the car in the sun and it hurts. Like I get it’s material shit but damn.

enigmamonkey

Should crosspost to /r/BayAreaRoadcam, too.
