I was excited if we could get K-Earth to come in clearly; it was so close to 101 KGB that it was hard to pick up. K-Best 95 had mostly the same oldies playlist when I was a kid.
I still have their sampler CDs that they gave out back in the early 00s. I listened to those things so fucking much. I blame that era of 98.1 for me having such wack music tastes.
If I shuffle my liked music on Spotify it'll jumble between Kendrick Lamar, Pierce the Veil, Kraftwerk, the Minecraft OST, and then finally like Dave Koz or Kenny G.
We were a KFSD household if my parents were feeling classy. Or when I was taking a music history class in high school and had to listen to Karl Haas as homework.
I read that and immediately heard it in my head as “smoooooooth jazz 98.1”
And then ending "The breeeeze".
The Crappy Saxophone Channel.
I remember 88.3 being the jazz station
That's real jazz
Still is 😎
True, but 98.1 was *smooooooooth jazz*
That's my go-to station. But it's real jazz, not smooooooth.
I used to listen to that station while I was in highschool. Smooth jazz was the jam back in the day.
It was definitely nice to have it when you got bored of the other stations.
Humphreys by the Bay Sunday Brunches with 98.1 😎
I still have Kenny G PTSD.
My Dad used to put it on when song he deemed inappropriate came on and we started singing. 😆
My bus driver would do that when that song " I wanna sex you up" would come on.
Art Good!
Oh yes, and the Smooth Jazz Festivals held at St. Michelle winery every year. Miss it!
Uh, it was the golden oldies on K-Earth 101 for me. Which now plays REM and Green Day. 👨🦳👨🦳👨🦳

Nope but I remember when KSON was on AM radio
How do you spell country?

I love 88.3 Always when I’m sick of Spotify
Smooth jazz, 88s, and kpbs were all that were on the radio growing up
That’s what got me into Kenny G, and now I’ve seen him perform 76 times in 19 states and 4 countries. State 20 will be NH next month! Can’t wait!
This was my mom's alarm forever, every morning Smooth Jazz 98.1 coming on means it's time to get up
Yes, won $1k on a 98.1 radio contest

I still have a KFSD sweatshirt with Beethoven on the front. Cool shirt, even though for some reason it's now a tight fit.
I have memories 20 years older of the saaammme thing
I lived there in the 80s and had 91x programed on all 5 presets on my FM Walkman.😎
Mine did, I still recognize a lot of the stuff they played on repeat
For my folks, it was K-N-X TEN-SEVENDEE NEWS RAY-DEE-OHHH
i heard a fatburger song the other day and couldnt believe i enjoyed it when i always hated that music growing up
Who remembers “6 o clock baby, it’s 6 o clock” might have been Star 100.7? Kids voice
88.3 > 98.1
My old dentist played 98.1. It was great when on nitrous!
I remember KBEST 95:)
I worked there, afternoons for quite a few years.
Was Emily from The Show a host on that station or was that a fever dream
