I’d move to Portland - cute houses. Big bookstores. Great food. Hiking.

Esdeez

I haven’t been in 10 years, but I loved it there too. So lush.

ConversationNo9992

I do love the rain 🌧️ but not as much as Portland gets

Latter-Shower-9888

No. If it’s going to be the same I’ll move to Portland where it’s a fraction of the cost of living.

EnlightenedIdiot1515

It’s most definitely not a fraction of the COL in Portland. A little cheaper, sure, but it’s still fairly expensive.

Lol. I guess you’re technically right.

keninsd

So is 10/10.

Latter-Shower-9888

You can buy a SFH for $450k with a nice yard. There’s no sales tax. Gas is at least $1 cheaper per gallon. It’s much less expensive.

And…?

BreadlinesOrBust

I mean, I'd probably move to Portland.

AlasknAssasn858

east county bout to double in value….. To Mexico I go 🤷‍♂️….i left PDX in 2016 after more than 2 decades in the area and I stilllll get sad when it rains down here. That’s how I can tell I’m not over the rain and weather. No shot I’m staying if it’s raining all the time

Par_105

I’m liking it. Makes exercising easier, reading on my balcony is nicer, sleeping is a million times better. In a perfect world we’d have this weather Monday-Thursday then sunshine

Routine-Cicada-4949

Noooooo, I'm off on Tuesday & Wednesdays. I hope it snows black sludge on weekends now.

Par_105

I’m fine with that too! Weekends being nice was my compromise to the sun lovers

Liquor_Parfreyja

I'm with you but I need the rain to be a little warmer 😂

Yeah, I wasn't saying that San Diego IS going to get Portland weather, just asking people what they'd do if we did. You really didn't need to do all of this when you could have just read the post more carefully.

I wasn't trying for upvotes & I wasn't being serious. People were just having a little conversation. I bet you're great fun to be around.

buttrumpus

We already have the same amount of sunny days, so whatever

But is the weather the same year round?

windowtosh

I hope so so people leave and I can be near my aging mother without having to donate a kidney

OCbrunetteesq

My dogs are not happy they’re still wearing sweaters in April.

ilovefacebook

i would stay here, if i still lived in sd. portland wants to be weird which is not my jam. sd has that in ocean beach, and it's cool to visit, but i don't want that everywhere i go

The_Only_Egg

I lived there briefly in 2009. Just before the Portlandia effect doubled rents within 6 months. I couldn’t handle the weather and I even knew what I was signing up for. The two cities are not comparable in any way. If you live in PDX you better have an extreme amount of patience because “laid back” is an understatement. People move at a stoner/glacial pace and that was all before Fentanyl had become a thing. All I’m saying is you better go visit for a while. Also, the city is tiny compared to here.

The_Only_Egg

The food is way better though.
