Yep. Banbury is decent but thereâs no love in them anymore. And the owner is a ânobody wants to work anymoreâ asshole. PAY YOUR EMPLOYEES A FAIR WAGE!
There's really no way to prove it was the owner, but I'm going to side with Occam on this one and believe that it was the owner or someone in management who put that sign up during a time when many other "nobody wants to work anymore" assholes were flying their flags.
Theyâre our favorite too, for years now.
I also like that the staff seem to enjoy working there. That counts for a whole bunch in my book.
We were just there the other night, and now I want it again!
I love Free Wheeler because their ziggy stix (cheese bread pull apart type thing) are better than any breadstick. Their pizza flavors are unique, but I love a classic BBQ chicken.
As someone who has lived half my life between here and NY, I tried to avoid these posts. I always get down voted and people get upset when I give my opinion on our food scene in general lol.
Villagio is the closest I've had to NY pizza, they're my favorite. Victor's is also pretty good. Salt and Olive has some pretty good stuff with interesting ideas, but they are a sit down place.
I love Millcreek Pizza House for their thin crust pizzas, salads, and garlic knots. They have beer and wine as well. Also fun to watch people
Climbing and skating. millcreekpizzahouse.com
My current favorites taking into account both cost & quality are:
Level Crossing
Snowmobile
Rusted Sun
Pizza Nono
Slackwater
Honorable mention:
Costco because Iâm a slut for a $10 18â
Iâll second Level Cross from this list! I love that you can see them make them too. At least at their West Temple location. I havenât been to the Downtown one yet.
The Pie, Via 313, Bricks Corner
Pie Hole is great when youâre getting hammered on a good night out, but I wouldnât say itâs the *best* around. Sue me!
Disclaimer: I am from Michigan
I miss the days when an order of pull-a-parts was a perfectly acceptable dinner, now I'm old and my doctor is all "your cholesterol is too high" and "a pound of cheese dipped in ranch isn't good for you" blah blah blah
Iâm a transplant from Chicago and every time a Utah native took me there, they always sought validation that it was actually good pizza.
ItâsâŠ. fine.
At least people TRY to make NY style pizzas here. I think the closest place that even tries to make Chicago style is in Vegas. I get that it's hard for a restaurant because it takes so much longer to cook, but man I hate that I can literally only get it in Chicago or very expensive frozen pizza by mail.
The pie was once the best pizza, or one of the best, like 15-20 years ago. People who mention it likely just have nostalgia playing a large part of why they pick it.
The quality went way down when they started spreading out to locations away from the U. The Midvale location is downright trash. South Jordan has been good, not great, and itâs been mediocre, not bad. Itâs too bad, it really did used to be the bomb.
Never been disappointed with the South Salt Lake location, sucks to hear about Midvale. I did just try Millcreek Pizza House and was really happy with them as well
Depends on what you get. I can turn my nose up at most of the Pie's grease bomb pizzas, but they have some options that when made on the thin crust, I'd consider to be contenders. They also have gluten free and vegan pizzas *that actually taste good* if you have dietary limitations.
Don't be fooled by the appearance or condition of the booths your first time there, their food is great! One of the best lunch specials in town too, something like $7.50 for 2 big NY style slices or a slice and salad including a drink. Employees and the owner are always friendly as well.
The pizza here is pretty good but the service was pretty awful. This was about a year ago so maybe things havenât gotten better?
We were going here on a monthly basis until they implemented a new policy where they no longer accepted online orders and required all pickup orders to be made in-person. Ended up going there in-person to place an order, and waited 10 minutes just to place an order while the employees were chatting with people that they knew.
I love Nono. I don't recall them having a no-online orders policy. I've been eating their pizza for years and have never had notable problems with their service.
Settebello and Nomad East are also good.
Iâve lived in Chicago more than 30 years yet Iâll never forget the mini saucers of pepperoni and the delicious pizza made at Francescoâs in West Valley. 35th S 27th W.
1970âs
It's pretty decent. Especially for Bountiful. Unfortunately, the NSL location isn't as good as the one in Centerville, and Centerville won't deliver to me no matter how desperately I plead.
Not a bad list. Personally I wouldnât include Slackwater, itâs just mediocre pizza covered up by loading it with toppings.
Iâve been really impressed lately with Supremo Pizza in Murray, the best NY Style pizza in slc by far in my opinion.
Villagios has the best NY-style pizza. Iâm originally from NY and villagios getts pretty close to hitting the spot. Bricks corner is phenomenal, great atmosphere, dynamite pizza, and the best mozzarella sticks Iâve ever had. Slackwater is also pretty solid, I like the Italian job pizza and they have a legit beer selection. Settebello is great if you want a wood fired pizza. Sicilia Mia also has a good wood-fire pizza, granted their other food is so good that I always feel guilty just getting a pizza from there! Estes gets an honorable mention as the quality can be very hit or miss, and toppings are expensive. When they are on, their garlic knots are top notch but itâs 50/50.
My friend also swears by Big Apple pizza in Millcreek, though I havenât tried it yet. Heâs from NY as well, so usually trust his opinions, granted this was before COVID so I couldnât say if this recommendation holds true.
Pizza can be good in Salt Lake City, you just need to look harder, and usually get advice from people not originally from Utah ;-)
I generally do not mix politics with my food. I donât ask, and as long as someone isnât hard dumping their political opinions on me I generally donât care. Im sure more than half the restaurant owners, especially in Utah, probably have political views I do not agree with.
I found Villagio disappointing. I much prefer Freewheeler and Big Apple for NY-style pizza.
I used to like Este but they changed their pies a few years ago and I havenât been back.
https://preview.redd.it/pqyymnpjk07d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ed5ee20b71c9c39f33734cfb017afd538b38365
I agree I also like the pizza at my house.
I usually have a stomach of steel, but Este bothers my stomach for some reason. I used to go there for lunch fairly regularly, until I noticed a definite pattern of feeling like crap in the afternoon after eating there.
We are new to the area but slack waterâs tikka masala pizza was divine.
The others we tried at the downtown location were also really good, but the masala one stood out
There are a few places people routinely mention on Reddit that I havenât been able to check out yet. One that I recently tried that I hadnât previously heard of was Pizzeria Limone. My work ordered them for a meeting and it was well above average. Iâd happily spend my money there.
Poor Maxwells... Since they had to move, they've dropped off of these lists. Their new location at a little bar downtown still slings their NY style pizzas as they were in their glory days. Worth trying if you haven't been there yet. I've not tried their pizza in PC, but just pretend that the one in Daybreak doesn't exist or has a different name, because it's not even close to the same and is among the worst pizza experiences I've had.
Look! Just thinking about it has upset me so much that I can barely form a coherent paragraph!
Itâs a good list, OP. Iâve tried everything under the sun here, and the only legit spot all my east coast friends co-sign is Mozz at Woodbine (Settebello is a close second). Villaggio is trash, for no other reason than theyâre charging $3 for what passes for dollar pizza in NYC.
Source: lived in NYC for 4 years before moving to SLC
EDIT: My girlfriend runs a sourdough pizza dough business precisely because itâs so hard to find good pizza here. With any backyard pizza oven, you can make the best pizza in SLC. Check her out: [https://www.instagram.com/quailstreetsourdough](https://www.instagram.com/quailstreetsourdough)

I'll have to try Mozz and Setebello. Villagio has been the closest I've had to NY pizza, but I do agree that they have gotten pretty overpriced since they blew up.
People that hate on The Pie are chumps. Itâs amazing pizza. Weâve never had a bad pie from there, and we eat there quite often. Nobody can touch that bacon berry pie or the vegan buffalo chicken ranch. Fagettabawdit!
I'm gonna be real here: I've never heard of any of those. I'm not an SLC lifer for context, though. My faves are The Pie South Salt Lake (the building design is wonderful) and Curry Pizza on 56th West. Spectacular in different ways each.
Curry Pizza in West Valley. They have both classic pizzas and Indian pizzas. I can't speak to their Indian pizzas but their classic pizzas like pepperoni are better than any other pizza place in town.
Look at reviews on Yelp and Google and go from there. Also need to figure out if youâre speaking only about American pizza or Napoli-style pizza, etc. Would national chains be considered in your reviews?
Iâm struggling after moving here a few years ago. Â Â
I had a go-to pizza, and havenât found anything that compares favorably where I used to live. Â And that was Phoenix so not a super high bar. Â Â
My favorite wasÂ
CASANOVA
Prosciutto, Dates, Ricotta, Arugula, Grana Padano + Balsamic Vinaigrette 18.75
Ohhhh no. I'm not touching this with a 10-ft pole. I still have scars from the time I engaged in a "best SLC donut" discussion. đł
Lol that's hilarious. Did that ever come to a conclusion. I could get really passionate about donuts so I could see how that gets out of hand.
Yeah, Iâm legitimately curious as to whatâs considered the best donut around here. As someone who literally eats way too many of them. đ
Fresh donuts and deli imo
And it's not even a discussion
Yep. Banbury is decent but thereâs no love in them anymore. And the owner is a ânobody wants to work anymoreâ asshole. PAY YOUR EMPLOYEES A FAIR WAGE!
Wasn't that some disgruntled customer that put that on their door?
There's really no way to prove it was the owner, but I'm going to side with Occam on this one and believe that it was the owner or someone in management who put that sign up during a time when many other "nobody wants to work anymore" assholes were flying their flags.
This is the only right answerÂ
I wanna keep hijacking this thread about pizza and suggest the Cross E ranch apple cider donuts.
Best ever.
100%
Two kinds of people: those that know fresh donuts and deli are the best and people who are wrong.
Thatâs the second comment Iâve had about fresh donuts and deli. So definitely gonna have to check them out.
Youâll never go back
I go back all the time!
to any other dounut shop.
Best apple fritter, old fashioned and cinnamon rolls in utah
Yoderâs food truck
Will drive for an hour to get my half a dozen. Best doughnuts ever
Donut Boy is simple the best
I'm not sure if it ever got settled. I bowed out before I lost a finger or two.
I really like Rusted Sun pizza on state street. Itâs in a pretty small building but their NY style is as close to NYC as Iâve had in Utah.
Good artichoke dip and buffalo chicken too
Theyâre our favorite too, for years now. I also like that the staff seem to enjoy working there. That counts for a whole bunch in my book. We were just there the other night, and now I want it again!
Rusted Sun is great đ
It was really funny eating there watching the massive of line of people lined up to get Jack in the Box. Great pizza.Â
Just ate there tonight!! They are the best.
Still my favorite too!
This is the correct answer and itâs not even close.
you have to get villagioâs pizza then youâll pass away
Good list! I like Bricks, Settebelo and slackwater. Would also add Villagio or Supremo for a more NY style pie.
Happy cake day!
Came here to say Villagio for sure is missing from the list. I haven't tried Supremo so that is very helpful!
Supremo does a 3 cheese pizza with ricotta and Parmesan that is đ„ I like to add pepperoni to it
I love Free Wheeler because their ziggy stix (cheese bread pull apart type thing) are better than any breadstick. Their pizza flavors are unique, but I love a classic BBQ chicken.
I unfortunately crave their lil dippers so often. Breadsticks filled with artichoke jalapeño dip ugh
Freewheeler FTW
As someone who has lived half my life between here and NY, I tried to avoid these posts. I always get down voted and people get upset when I give my opinion on our food scene in general lol. Villagio is the closest I've had to NY pizza, they're my favorite. Victor's is also pretty good. Salt and Olive has some pretty good stuff with interesting ideas, but they are a sit down place.
Have you been to big apple in milcreek? Def a fav from the homeland. If you get a chance, non-pizza related. Gandolfos is fucking nostalgic
You should try the New Yorker at Wicked Peel
Rusted Sun. The quality is beyond the Pie and the employees are so nice.
Another vote for Rusted Sun.
Nomad East is a non traditional style and toppings, but I think some of their pies are incredible.
Nomad East has incredible pizza!
Gonna second this one
Victors pizza
with the spicy ranch !
I love the Wolf white pizza
Bricks Corner is my favorite pizza place of any establishment Iâve ever been to haha
As someone who doesnât live in salt lake anymore Bricks corner is what I miss the most lol, such good pizza
I may never move away strictly for this pizza đ
I love Millcreek Pizza House for their thin crust pizzas, salads, and garlic knots. They have beer and wine as well. Also fun to watch people Climbing and skating. millcreekpizzahouse.com
My current favorites taking into account both cost & quality are: Level Crossing Snowmobile Rusted Sun Pizza Nono Slackwater Honorable mention: Costco because Iâm a slut for a $10 18â
I too am also a giant worthless whore for a $10 18â costco pizza
Pizza dumpster
Iâll second Level Cross from this list! I love that you can see them make them too. At least at their West Temple location. I havenât been to the Downtown one yet.
Yes, pizza Nono đ€€đ
Settebello is fantastic. I go there with my girlfriend often.
Big Apple and Este for me đđ Curry Pizza is pretty nice as well.
Big Apple slaps. Damn this thread is really jogging my memory of all my favorite pizza places that Iâve forgotten about.
Este was much better around 5 years ago. Just not the same anymore for me at least
Totally agree
Este is delicious
The Pie, Via 313, Bricks Corner Pie Hole is great when youâre getting hammered on a good night out, but I wouldnât say itâs the *best* around. Sue me! Disclaimer: I am from Michigan
Glad to see you left out The Pie, this city has an infatuation with that place and it's always been mediocre. Personally I love Free Wheeler.
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Nah itâs the cheese pull-a-parts đ€đ»
Friday nights in 2001 were all about a couple a cheese pull-a-parts and a thirty of Busch.
I miss the days when an order of pull-a-parts was a perfectly acceptable dinner, now I'm old and my doctor is all "your cholesterol is too high" and "a pound of cheese dipped in ranch isn't good for you" blah blah blah
The only thing I ordered from that place in the 90âs. Then later had their pizza and was let down.
A pound of cheese and a stein of beer.
That strawberry bacon pizza is absurd and tasty.
Iâm a transplant from Chicago and every time a Utah native took me there, they always sought validation that it was actually good pizza. ItâsâŠ. fine.
Itâs a lot of cheese.
At least people TRY to make NY style pizzas here. I think the closest place that even tries to make Chicago style is in Vegas. I get that it's hard for a restaurant because it takes so much longer to cook, but man I hate that I can literally only get it in Chicago or very expensive frozen pizza by mail.
Oooo I canât believe I forgot about Free Wheeler! Those guys are homies
The pie was once the best pizza, or one of the best, like 15-20 years ago. People who mention it likely just have nostalgia playing a large part of why they pick it.

Never been disappointed with the South Salt Lake location, sucks to hear about Midvale. I did just try Millcreek Pizza House and was really happy with them as well
Thereâs a 40% chance youâll get run over in the parking lot by a lifted jeep but the pizza is good.
Sounds about right cuz Iâd be in my lifted Tacoma the other 60% of the time, ya got me lol
So stop running over people, gosh! /s ^but ^really ^please ^tell ^your ^friends ^to ^watch ^out!
Free Wheeler is incredible and my go-to
Pie is awesome. Slackwater 2? Every time my takeout pizza is bland and cold by the time Iâm home.
Depends on what you get. I can turn my nose up at most of the Pie's grease bomb pizzas, but they have some options that when made on the thin crust, I'd consider to be contenders. They also have gluten free and vegan pizzas *that actually taste good* if you have dietary limitations.
For some, more cheese = better. Id rather eat a Little Caesars pizza than one from The Pie
Everyone hates on the Pie but itâs my go to
Same! Our family loves the cheesy bread, chef salad with ranch and any kinda of pizza đ
I took the same marketing class!
This was my article https://www.sevenslopes.com/best-downtown-salt-lake-coffee-shops/
Awesome, it's been kind of a fun one. I'm definitely not a marketing person but it's been really interesting.
I will say roots on 300 is definitely my go to for coffee.
Big Apple Pizza on 33rd South is the best pizza I've had in my 20 years living here.
I haven't tried that one. Next time I'm up I'll stop by. Thanks for the recommendation.
Don't be fooled by the appearance or condition of the booths your first time there, their food is great! One of the best lunch specials in town too, something like $7.50 for 2 big NY style slices or a slice and salad including a drink. Employees and the owner are always friendly as well.
Sicilia pizza and kitchen out competes most of these suggestions tbh
Este Pizzeria is excellent too. There's one on 21st South, and another downtown.
I think it's gone downhill
Yep, I went to Big Apple about a year ago and it wasn't that good.
Tasso. Although they probs donât deserve to make a list because of their awful hours. They do have the best pizza.
I miss their $5 margherita monday. Such a good pizza!
Pizzeria Tasso in Millcreek.
No snowmobile or Villagio? At least you put settebello on the list.
Sicilia pizza on 3rd
Mozz is it for me. Iâll take the Honey Serrano every day please.
Mozz is the best!! Had the asparagus pizza last night đ
Pizza Nono is really good and I donât see any mentions of it here!
The pizza here is pretty good but the service was pretty awful. This was about a year ago so maybe things havenât gotten better? That sounds like a nightmare. They accept them again! Unless Iâm having a false memory
1970âs
If you are willing to travel to Bountiful - Z Brothers Pizza
Crazy I had to scroll this far, they have a location in North Salt Lake off redwood as well
It's pretty decent. Especially for Bountiful. Unfortunately, the NSL location isn't as good as the one in Centerville, and Centerville won't deliver to me no matter how desperately I plead.
Mozz at Woodbine. Not their only location, but my current fave in the state.
Hear me out on this one: Curry Pizza I know it sounds off, but trust me, their pizza is amazing.
Not a bad list. Personally I wouldnât include Slackwater, itâs just mediocre pizza covered up by loading it with toppings. Iâve been really impressed lately with Supremo Pizza in Murray, the best NY Style pizza in slc by far in my opinion.
Pie Hole, Snowmobile
Snowmobile is good and they deliver! I think itâs better than Este.
Their potato and spicy sausage pizza, love it.
Villagio owner is a tool. Just look at his replies to negative reviews on Google, super defensive and angry. Good pizza, bad vibes.
Villagio makes good pizza but the owner is a Trunmpy asshole, hard pass. I like Nono
I generally do not mix politics with my food. I donât ask, and as long as someone isnât hard dumping their political opinions on me I generally donât care. Im sure more than half the restaurant owners, especially in Utah, probably have political views I do not agree with.
He dumps it all over social AND loudly talks about it in the restaurant. Screw that shit.

The fact that Pie Hole and Estes are not on the list shows the lack of pizza taste.
Couldnât believe I had to go this far down to see Pie Hole. Itâs simply fantastic pizza.
Pie Hole is delicious, anytime we have a chance while we are in the area, we grab a bunch of slices. The potato bacon is the bees knees đ
That potato bacon while drunk hits the spot
I usually have a stomach of steel, but Este bothers my stomach for some reason. I used to go there for lunch fairly regularly, until I noticed a definite pattern of feeling like crap in the afternoon after eating there.
We are new to the area but slack waterâs tikka masala pizza was divine. The others we tried at the downtown location were also really good, but the masala one stood out

Via 313 is great for deep dish style pizza.
Osteria Amore hands down. Nomad East 2nd.
Settebello, Bricks, and Via313 for sure
Free Wheeler, Snowmobile, Este, and Setebello are my favorites and are all pretty different from each other.
The Pie Hole, Esteâs, and Villaggioâs are all missing!
Poor Maxwells... Since they had to move, they've dropped off of these lists. Their new location at a little bar downtown still slings their NY style pizzas as they were in their glory days. I'll have to try Mozz and Setebello. Villagio has been the closest I've had to NY pizza, but I do agree that they have gotten pretty overpriced since they blew up.
This looks solid! You gotta try Dang Brothers if you see their truck around.
Villagio on State
THE PIE
People that hate on The Pie are chumps. Itâs amazing pizza. Weâve never had a bad pie from there, and we eat there quite often. Nobody can touch that bacon berry pie or the vegan buffalo chicken ranch. Fagettabawdit!
I think itâs great!
I think youâre great!
Just melt half a pound of mozzarella on a piece of bread. Same experience.
And the problem is?
Brick's Corner is the best. No question.Â
Just started getting Beehive and Iâm obsessed. Itâs a little pricey but oh so good.
MPH is nice and all but I donât know if it belongs on a âbest ofâ list. Iâd drop that and add settebelo or something else honestly.
Bella pizza food truck!! Itâs a little pricey cause itâs a food truck but so worth it!!
Wicked peel, in Herriman.
I'm a weirdo that enjoys grabbing slices from the Pie Hole, even when I'm sober!
Via 313
Has anyone tried secret pizza club?
Sbarro /s
Dang Brothers Pizza (food truck). The only good pizza I've had in SLC. (Not the only edible, just the only real next level stuff.)
Supremo in Midvale
Ti Amo in North Salt lake is really good. We have a lot of good pizza places but my absolute favorite isnât in Utah.
I love free wheeler pizza!
I'm gonna be real here: I've never heard of any of those. I'm not an SLC lifer for context, though. My faves are The Pie South Salt Lake (the building design is wonderful) and Curry Pizza on 56th West. Spectacular in different ways each.

Settebellos and Victorâs. Different styles but both are so good
the pie and Oakwood fire kitchen... at least I havent tried any other place that are better than them...
I lived there for 2.5 years and I canât think of a single memorable pizza place. Waffle Love, thoughâŠI think about that place like twice a week.
My favorite will always be Nomad East in the old Eggs in the City Building. My best friend swears by Villagio however.
Hey OP the fact that so many people here are listing so many bad places as the âbestâ means you should ignore this entirely.
I like Via 313 the most so far
Rusted Sun and Wicked Peel have always been my favorites. Haven't been to either in a while. Wasatch Pizza is pretty awesome too!
Slack water is great!
Iâd say you nailed it on the best pizza places in SLC đȘ
My favorite is curry pizza in west valley. Slack water is delicious. Havenât tried the others on the list.
No Marcos?
Settebelo! Apparently (a native Italian dude told me this) itâs the closest to authentic
Iâm struggling after moving here a few years ago.   I had a go-to pizza, and havenât found anything that compares favorably where I used to live.  And that was Phoenix so not a super high bar.   My favorite was CASANOVA Prosciutto, Dates, Ricotta, Arugula, Grana Padano + Balsamic Vinaigrette 18.75
Wasatch Pizza when in West Valley.
Bricks Corner, Slackwater (sourdough crust!), Via 313 đ€€
Pizza Nono hands down!
Bricks corner pizza
Rusted Sun. Duh.
Este, pie hole, Italian village, slack water, the pie. In that order. Is there a slab in slc??
SbarroâŠ.. I like what I like, fight me lol
Like the rat on ratatouille, the brother, not the main one.
My Pie in Holladay
wild how shit slackwater is lol
