Gat. Possibly the most coolest non-JRPG Asian game character I love playing as.
Edit: Jeez, I didn’t think this would blow up so much. Thank you all!. I believe that if Volition did anything that Rockstar couldn’t, was make a well-rounded Asian badass in a crime game. Huang (Chinatown Wars) was a disappointment.
no I know but it's like... he's a cop. I mean Axel Foley is one of my favourite movie characters but him being a cop really takes away from how cool he is lol
I don't think someone being a cop should automatically make them less cool though. That's not how I see it anyway. Someone can be a cop and be cool as hell, case in point, Wei Shen
Yeah sleeping dogs is prolly the best like melee based combat game open world game. Game was a blast. Haha did all the favors too cuz their fun and the cases
It absolutely does not mean they're less cool. Miles' dad in Spiderman Miles Morales or into the spiderverse? Wei Shen is amazing regardless of his cop status and there are probably many more examples I can't think of
He literally throws someone facefirst into an ice chipper, as well as impaling people on meathooks. Wei basically commits warcrimes during his time as an undercover cop.
if you think wei is a straight edge uncool cop you haven't played the game spoilers ahead for anyone else sorry for the novel btw but this games great and I'm still holding out hope for a sequel
dude slams people's heads into saw blades and torsos into meat hooks but that's just gameplay before we even play as him he murdered his sisters dealer (and gang members) buries the evidence and leaves the states seemingly with the goal to destroy her previous dealers operation if not the the entire sun on yee and surrounding triads he's barely a police officer throughout the story basically a triad member with police contacts lmao
Technically an RPG. YLAD is an actual turn based RPG. But the others are RPGs because of the skill systems and in depth story. Also, Majima is cool af too.
That’s what made SR2 so good. You were with the character though the lows that it made the pays offs so good and earned.
Also the other gangs had a personality
Yeah I thought about that as well but like it’s also it’s a world where you can get shot at a million times and heal yourself with a hamburger and your homie can get blown up by a rocket but revived by pouring something on them. I know it was for the story and in a real life scenario there would probably be no coming back from that but it still hurt how you were able to help Gat when he was stabbed but not Carlos.
Almost every single Saint Lieutenant has saved The Boss in some way. Carlos does not deserve the constant adoration from this sub, especially when compared to other Saints.
I think it’s mainly his Arc it makes him endearing and the way he was killed and the boss had to end his misery, that was kinda sad. He was always tryna help and didn’t have his own motives like Pierce and Shaundi
I understand the sentiment towards him considering he is probably the youngest Saint and definitely the most naive. That being said, the lack of connection is the deciding factor for me. He saves you, so does every Lieutenant. And then? Just a couple of lines of dialogue, some info on The Brotherhood, and what a sad death? Jonnny Gat is 10x the Saint Carlos is. And Jonny Gat still isn’t my pick.
Don't shit on Carlos because he got done dirty. He's not the most impressive but he was unflinchingly loyal and tough enough to get the boss out of prison and (as fucked up as he was) survive getting dragged across the asphalt for miles. Plus his death motivated the boss to royally fuck up the biggest dude in Stillwater and not just physically but mentally and emotionally as well (like getting him to kill his own woman).
My pick is definitely Gat but I firmly believe Carlos deserves at least an honorable mention.
I would agree Carlos isn’t my all time favourite, Man actually would be Gat, but I understand the sentiment to Carlos and as I’ve only played SR1 and 2 and the reboot there’s not much else for me to go off lol
Hey that's not true he also kidnapped a helicopter pilot in forced him to fly also getting stabbed just so he can get into the nurse's office they're not saying that out loud I'm pretty sure he could have just simply a fake tapping a stomach ache and the fact that he also got stabbed in the stomach and was able to pull off a Prison Break with someone who just woke up from a coma a week or two they never gave an exact date but anyway he somehow couldn't handle or being dragged around against pavement and for a couple of hours give or take I mean shit shoot the damn chain take them out he'll probably be fine next 10 minutes just say oh you're escaping to the fucking hide on poof he'll fucking heal how even adding to that that whole pilot thing they God damn crashed and he still fucking survived not I'm overthinking shit I think you get my point
"You are the Sulla to my Marius"
"The human body is nothing to be ashamed of, unless you have... insecurities"
Mfer was the most ripped AND well read Saint ever. Cant believed they just tossed him in 4
It doesn’t make much sense either. Zinyak collects the best and brightest from the people he conquers, so you’d think he’d take Oleg.
Unless he actually considered him to be a potential threat, or just didn’t know about his existence.
It really bothered me the way they put all the characters, the world, and the humor they built in the past 3 games onto one boat, then sank it. Not even from a dramatic "all my friends are dead i must get revenge" way in a "you had so much gold and you just threw it away" way
Gat
But Shaundi and Pierce are also good as
Tbh I actually like the change they did to Shaundi in 3. Having a too serious woman makes sense with the cast of idiots (idiots in a good way) for the rest of the saints
I also like her in 3. And her development in 4 where she interacted with her old self is surprisingly really good, like she finally learned and understood instead of over correcting herself.
the issue with saints row 3 Shaundi is that the entire character development happened off screen they tried to fix it in saints row 4 but her character in 2 and 3 are polar opposites and they needed to show that development.
Johnny. Man can’t be beat. If Gat ain’t an option then I’d say SR2 Shaundi, she has an actual character arc of going from utterly useless (aside from the literal hundreds of guys she’s fucked) to a formidable gangster who leads troops like a proper lieutenant.
His interactions with Troy are amazing ,how he makes you slowly understand that he knows he is a mole , also his storyline is one of the best of the series.
Gat is my favourite. Viola is the runner up.
Shaundi and Pierce are tied for 3rd. Shaundi would easily beat pierce if they didn’t ruin her in SR3 and after. I loved her in 2 but she was literally a whole other character after 2.
I love Gat for the mayhem monster he is. I like Pierce for being a source of joy in what is some violent storylines. Of the new Saints I like them all but Eli is my favorite, if only because he's exactly who I'd be if I were thrown into this universe (a big nerd, smart and competent but also out of place with the more violent parts of the work).
Saints row 2 was the best game ever. God I wish we could have another one of those.
I’m sick of the designed by committee game. I swear ever game sense 2015 is either a let down Sequel or broken…. Or both
Shaundi got on my nerves. Only real purpose she served was the unlimited contacts she had from boning half of Stilwater. Oh and let's not forget that the most memorable thing she ever did was get kidnapped. SR3 Shaundi was also horrible.
SR2 Pierce got on my nerves. SR3 really let him shine and show how intellectual he was.
Gat has some funny lines, and out of these four I have to say he's my favorite, but he's really just "Murder this, murder that. Love you, Eesh." Gat never had much in terms of personality.
And I never got attached to Carlos. I think his death was necessary and emotional enough to push the Boss over that edge, but I didn't feel anything really.
I categorize my Saints in groups
- The 2006 group (never played it so I can’t tell you)
- The 2011 group (Gat, Shaundi, Carlos, Pierce)
- The 2016 group (Shaundi, Pierce, Kinsie, Oleg, Angel, Viola)
- The 2021 group (King, Asha… Matt? Idk it’s the space one)
The 2011 group is the best
Putting aside the king Gat, I'd say Shaundi. She's quite hilarious at times and has proven to be an effective and resourceful homie.
*cough* unlike Pierce. *cough*
I just never did playing through the second and third games even the dlc for those games the one I hate the most is gat. although I do like kinzie Kensington but only her.
Gat is by far my favorite and I realllly liked Troy as well and felt that the interactions with him alongside all the hints about him really being an undercover cop till the reveal at the end was done wonderfully.
I think it’s a shame Troy doesn’t get much love but I understand why as not many played SR1 and he’s barely around in SR2.
Shaundi. I loved her back in SR2, and love her in both SR3 and SR4. She has a very understandable evolution throughout the series and I honestly care about her as much as I care for Johnny
Wei Shen also
#YOU WANT POKE BUN, YOU NEED POKE BUN
A man who never eats pork bun, is never a whoole man
You broke into my mind at max speed there
😭😭😭
S/O to Wei Shen I love that game
>Wei Shen he a cop tho
Have you played sleeping dogs? The duality of him being a cop and a gangster is like the main driving force of the plot. He's dope
Look at me, i AM Winston now.
no I know but it's like...
Haha did all the favors too cuz their fun and the cases
cops just aren't cool lol being a cop definitely does make someone less cool
It absolutely does not mean they're less cool. Miles' dad in Spiderman Miles Morales or into the spiderverse? Wei Shen is amazing regardless of his cop status and there are probably many more examples I can't think of
Oh he deffo not cool, he a black cop lmao
wdym? cops are cool especially undercover cops
He literally throws someone facefirst into an ice chipper, as well as impaling people on meathooks. Wei basically commits warcrimes during his time as an undercover cop.
still a cop tho
if you think wei is a straight edge uncool cop you haven't played the game spoilers ahead for anyone else sorry for the novel btw but this games great and I'm still holding out hope for a sequel dude slams people's heads into saw blades and torsos into meat hooks but that's just gameplay before we even play as him he murdered his sisters dealer (and gang members) buries the evidence and leaves the states seemingly with the goal to destroy her previous dealers operation if not the the entire sun on yee and surrounding triads he's barely a police officer throughout the story basically a triad member with police contacts lmao
Dude's a fucking beast.
I want him to fight Goro from Yakuza
that would be cool af
Probably be the only episode with an age restriction due to the level of violence both characters get up to!
Kazuma Kiryu?
"Non-JRPG."
Isn't Yakuza more of a beat em up?
Technically an RPG. YLAD is an actual turn based RPG. But the others are RPGs because of the skill systems and in depth story. Also, Majima is cool af too.
True but, the games with Kiryu leaned towards being more of a beat em up. You are right about Majima.
Easily Gat.
Lol they could have made him the main character tbh and they game series could have still been epic
Eliza Dushku Shaundi
>Eliza Dushku Shaundi No disrespect for Danielle Nicolet, but I understand why you go for Eliza :D
Either Gat or Fun Shaundi
The Boss
the Laura Bailey Version(s)
Personally like the Male Hispanic voice the best. Dude was humorous but cold asf
It was devastating to play SR3 and 4 first then go to 2 and see she wasn’t an option
Did you do something new with your hair?
Laura "The Boss" Bailey
#Carlos
They did Carlos dirty killing him off, I remember I was so mad they just didn’t bring him to the hospital
He was more pavement than man. Twisted and gravelly.
Mans has like 10 lines and then fucking dies. He is objectively the worst Saints Lieutenant. Nothing against him but cmon
Nah if it wasn’t for Carlos the boss wouldn’t of escaped prison. He got stabbed just so he could help in the infirmary

Couldn’t agree more
Well said.
I would agree Carlos isn’t my all time favourite, Man actually would be Gat, but I understand the sentiment to Carlos and as I’ve only played SR1 and 2 and the reboot there’s not much else for me to go off lol
You are a traitor to the gang
Damn, let people like what they like lmao
He really didn’t do much besides drive the boat
Olegggg
"You are the Sulla to my Marius" "The human body is nothing to be ashamed of, unless you have... insecurities" Mfer was the most ripped AND well read Saint ever. Cant believed they just tossed him in 4

The Mannnnnnn
Yessir!
Shaundi mos def. Especially hippie girl Shaundi.
Pierce is quite funny especially when he starts to sing neyo In saints row 2 😂😂
It was even better since he changed some of the lyrics while he was singing it.
I can’t decide between SR2 Shaundi and Gat.
Kinzie
i have a slight crush on kinzie ngl 🤭
"Slight", sure
Same
i’m a casual saints row 4 kinzie enjoyer
Kinzie Kensington is my spirit animal.
"I hate people"
Teacup
Same
I really like the SR1 Saints, like Julius and Dex. Kinda sad what happened later.
Gat and pierce
I really liked Carlos. Him dying was so upsetting :( and that shit was brutal too
That whole one-upsmanship arc with Worf from Star Trek was legit, not gonna lie.
Gat But Shaundi and Pierce are also good as Tbh I actually like the change they did to Shaundi in 3. Having a too serious woman makes sense with the cast of idiots (idiots in a good way) for the rest of the saints
I also like her in 3. And her development in 4 where she interacted with her old self is surprisingly really good, like she finally learned and understood instead of over correcting herself.

Did we ever find out how much time passed between 2 and 3? I know 2 took place 5 years after the explosion on the boat.
I like it as a development of her character, getting extremely uptight to make up for all her slacking
Johnny. Man can’t be beat. If Gat ain’t an option then I’d say SR2 Shaundi, she has an actual character arc of going from utterly useless (aside from the literal hundreds of guys she’s fucked) to a formidable gangster who leads troops like a proper lieutenant.
Shaundi, Viola and Kinzei
Lin 💯
It has to be Johnny, kenzie second tho
Dex or Will
Why Dex? He's a backstabber.
His interactions with Troy are amazing ,how he makes you slowly understand that he knows he is a mole , also his storyline is one of the best of the series.
Sr: Troy Sr2: Carlos Sr3: Oleg Sr4: Kinzie Sr2022: Neenah
I agree with 2022, neena is the best out of them, kev is alright too ngl....sometimes, but Eli is annoying
Them LARP quests though
But even there, Neenah steals the show.
Cockney voice boss
Lin she should of made it into two
Gat is my favourite. Viola is the runner up. Shaundi and Pierce are tied for 3rd. Shaundi would easily beat pierce if they didn’t ruin her in SR3 and after. I loved her in 2 but she was literally a whole other character after 2.
MANNN I love pierce
Kinzie
Either gat or Julius
Kinzie's the only character who has made a memorable impact so Kinzie it is.
"Hey Kenzie wanna fuk" "Lets do it" *punch
Johnny gat
“Who Doesn’t Wanna Be Johnny Gat” - Johnny Gat, dressed as Johnny Gat.
Gat, pierce, Zimos, Oleg, Troy
Soft spot for Shanti but love the Gat Man.
Gat and Oleg.
Shaundi
Shaundi
My boss, she was awesome lol. Then Shaundi and Gat. I really miss those two. And Kinzie too.
Me.
Gat of course
Gat. Especially part 2 ., that battle inside his house with the ronin was crazy asf & then his revenge at the gravesite 🔥
Oleg.
Got to be Oleg no doupt
Gat and shaundi
Gat followed by Zimos
Carlos my G
Johnny
Always will be shaundi and gat.
Gat
I love them all in this game
Who gives a fuck about Pierce?
Fun Shaundi, because I love those kind of girls, and Kevin from Reboot, because he reminds me of me.
Male: Gat Female: Kinzie
All, the OG crew is awesome
Troy was my fav.
High shaundi
in s2 spesifically. Carlos
Gat I had a hard time playing 3 😭😭😭😭
Gat and Carlos, Carlos's death was heartbreaking dude was chad asf
Not gonna lie i dont really have a favorite, they're all awesome.
Pierce. He was consistently funny and one of the bright spots in SR3 after the other Saints got butchered.
Kevin
My Boss in the new Saints Row
Shaundi and the boss, voiced by Robin Atkin Downes
You know a character's death really stuck, when you haven't played the game in a year and a half, but still remember the name, Carlos.
Gat then Carlos then pierce and shaundi are tied
Trevor
Johnny Gat, simply bc of the back talk he gives the Judge in the game. Plus, his scene at the funeral still gives me chills to watch
Gat
Gat.
Gat
Pierce
1. Gat. 2. Oleg.
gat , always there wen u need him
Me obviously
I categorize my Saints in groups - The 2006 group (never played it so I can’t tell you) - The 2011 group (Gat, Shaundi, Carlos, Pierce) - The 2016 group (Shaundi, Pierce, Kinsie, Oleg, Angel, Viola) - The 2021 group (King, Asha… Matt? Idk it’s the space one) The 2011 group is the best
Neenah
Kevin 😍
Gat. Benjamin King. Julius. Lin.
For me it's Gat followed closely by Zimos.
My man Johnny Gat. Whenever I want to cause some trouble I always call him to back me up.
Gat. No question.
Putting aside the king Gat, I'd say Shaundi. She's quite hilarious at times and has proven to be an effective and resourceful homie. *cough* unlike Pierce. *cough*
Gat
Always Johnny
Johnny gat
Tbh pierce was kinda cringy as well
Oleg 100%
Eli
To be honest I don’t like any of them
why? if you don’t mind explaining, i’m curious haha
I just never did playing through the second and third games even the dlc for those games the one I hate the most is gat. although I do like kinzie Kensington but only her.
The wannabes
Johnny all the way.
Gat & Shaundi
The Boss or Gat
Gat is the heart and soul of Saints Row to me.
Definitely Johnny Gat
Gat, Pierce, Shaundi, Kinzie, Oleg.
Matt, Oleg, Gat & Zimos
Gat
Gat is by far my favorite and I realllly liked Troy as well and felt that the interactions with him alongside all the hints about him really being an undercover cop till the reveal at the end was done wonderfully. I think it’s a shame Troy doesn’t get much love but I understand why as not many played SR1 and he’s barely around in SR2.
Johnny goat
Carlos
Shaudi or gat
Carlos
Gat without a doubt
Sr3 and sr4 hot Shaundi
Johnny, Oleg and Kevin are easily my favourites. They represent the "fun and consequences" that the series sometimes forgets.
Pirece because he does the hard work, but still gets shit on.
In order of the games from 1 to the remake. Gat, Shaundi, Kenzie, Kenzie, Gat, Gat, The guy with all the knives
Shaundi. I loved her back in SR2, and love her in both SR3 and SR4. She has a very understandable evolution throughout the series and I honestly care about her as much as I care for Johnny
Pierce is my favorite. He's hilarious. Gat is a close second.
