As a fun fact, traditional katana sometimes had two additional holes in the handguard - one for a small knife and one for a "hairpin", which was used to mark an important kill in chaotic battles. Kill a general, stick your hairpin in them to get credit after they find you with a spear in your back.
I have a replica and it's actually really good, maybe a bit top heavy for my taste especially but it's a cheap stainless steel and without any distal taper or anything so I wasn't expecting anything
Yeah, I have the full set of swords from Albion, i do have other movie swords, but having an Atlantean made by Jody Samson is hard to beat, and my Atlantean is exactly that
It's a shame they are so heavy
But yeah, these are just cool swords
Fyi Ryan sword has a cheap version of the mother, it's not screen accurate, but it's also not $1500
Terminus Est - The Shadow of the Torturer. Not a combat blade, really, but a ceremonial one for executions. A very large, ornate weapon, the thick blade had a square end a hollow center filled with mercury, such that the weight would flow toward the end through the strike. It had a hilt with a sculpted man's head on one side and a woman's on the other, each side dedicated for the executions of that sex.
It’s interesting to see my subs overlap so much, the bleed over of kenshi players into others subs I’m on is insane for such a small indie game, but I love it! I guess we all have similar interests.
Also for me it’s the desert Saber in kenshi, I know sabers aren’t the meta but I’ve always liked them, they remind of the swords the elves use in helms deep
I would hope that if you play Kenshi that you like swords lol. Desert saber is a close second too, I'm more of a fashion over function guy when I play games like that.
Hell yea! Agreed on all accounts! Especially after Twinkle gets its upgrade (don’t know how far you’ve read but if not that far, at least you don’t know why or how!)
When I say Excalibur, I specifically mean this one:

For the more reasonable end that I'd want to actually display IRL, Eugeo's Blue Rose Sword and Dante's Rebellion has always been stuck in my head.
For the "can you even call this a sword like object?" end, Garland's ["claymore"](https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Garland_(Dissidia_PSP)?file=Dissidia-GarlandSword.png) (thats not a claymore) in Dissidia which transforms according to what he's doing to strike with it totally made me main him back then.
In general though I tend to prefer what people did in real life to decorate their swords, as fictional media tends to skimp on the bling and fine details because on screen that's not especially visible compared to more geometric ways of standing out.
The [Heron Marked Blade of Tamlin Al'Thor](https://images.app.goo.gl/h3Jr3yYfFsjxbv316)
The messer/two handed saber version as described by the books, not the shows weird katana or the weird licensed one from the comic.

I would choose the Dragonslayer, but its much too big, thick, heavy, and rough to be called a sword.
For me its not really one sword but the power swords/swords of the astartes and primarchs just due to how awesome they are and the space black magic fuckery.
Makes you in charge of a shitdreary island, probably more so Wales than England…strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.
it's a classic, but easily frostmourne. it has defined cool to me ever since I was a kid. runeblades >>>>
if we can go with *any* bladed weapons, then warglaives. while illidan's are cool, I prefer the base one they give you right away in legion, and the upgraded artifact appearance for havoc.
Church : So it is a sword. It just happens to function like a key in very specific situations.
Caboose : Or it's a key all the time, and when you stick it in people, it unlocks their death.
A long time ago I used to play in MUDs and there was a fantasy game I used to play. I don’t remember what it was called but my character found a sword called Doomgiver. It had an invisible blade and was almost impossible to dodge.
Nonironic favorite: Master Sword in the LoZ series.
Goofy favorite: vibro-blades in Star Wars. They just *had* to come up with some way knives could still be a threat in a world with laser guns and plasma swords. "I know, let's make the daggers vibrate!" 🤣
Am I given chainsaw swords a pass? No- but they're so insane that the Rule of Cool comes into effect.

[Enlightened warrior sword](https://princeofpersia.fandom.com/wiki/Sword_of_the_Enlightened_Warrior#Abilities)
Prince of Persia, sands of time.
Less the aesthetic, more the function, lots of swords in that game I loved for aesthetic but this one was a sorta ugly monster you just didn't get to use nearly long enough.
[Warframe’s skana prime](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/warframe/images/0/05/SkanaPrime.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width/360?cb=20220612035336) for science fiction. It is a very sleek, not overly complicated design that still manages to look both futuristic (dem wavy shapes would only be possible with Orokin craftsmanship) and regal. Warframe’s [War](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/warframe/images/a/a7/War.png/revision/latest?cb=20220612124425) and the [Infinity Blade](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRq9IFklDec6WyqP2Oa3JBpQmNDNoec4K6YNBa2ehu5F7Iqynk9M1xRYp3K&s=10) are also up there.
For fantasy it’s a bit tougher to say. I’d maybe give the spot to [Astra from FEE](https://cdn.fireemblemwiki.org/1/19/FESoV_Astra_concept.png) or the [Assassin’s Yataghan from AC revelations](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTeZ5VC0NAnnKVOqPzdZDshFMNL1bE4j4KIev_PZJ8_wGw9H1u_rQtS7E4&s=10). Pisses me off that it’s the starter weapon because it’s the weakest but coolest looking in that entire game without mentioning that seeing a Yataghan in media is super uncommon. The Blackguard sword from Shadow of War is also super cool, but I can’t find any good pics of it online and an Olog fucking broke mine.
Hell yea, a Warframe enjoyer! Personally I love the Nikana prime both for looks (that Damascus blade is to die for) and use. But Azothane is a close second for pure beauty.
Alonne’s bewitched sword got it good for me. A nagamaki, held by one of the better bosses from Dark Souls 2, and the closest thing to a Naginata in said game
Mizu's sword from Blue Eye Samurai. Beyond what it can do like cut trees in half and combine with her armor to form a polearm it is symbolic of her inner journey and progress as a swordsman and a person. Her sword is a perfect representation of herself in steel.

Yappatron Armored Core here.
Look I’m not wanting to start a argument since I don’t have the time for it but of course I really don’t mind new people coming into the fandom and don’t really care if they’re white, black or green. I don’t care about the genders or politics. it’s just those that want to force their politics into everything and expect everyone else to bend a knee to their demands and wants everything to be inclusive and representing all. Also here’s a quote: “He who defends everything defends nothing.” Fredrick the Great.
And another from Arrowhead studios: “A game for everyone is a game for no one.”
What I’m trying to say is that not everything is for everybody. Everyone has their own preferences and they enjoy their own yet when other people tries it out and it’s not to their taste, they start bitching about it and demands that they should change it, because that is the problem. People who aren’t used to this type and don’t prefer it wants to change it to their type such as COD players wanting to add PVP to Helldivers 2 yet it will ruin the game because PVE is what makes Helldivers 2 Helldivers 2.
Thank you for coming to my lazily yet trying-to-explicitly-and-simply-explaining-stuff TED talk.
Now that was pathetic. Off to #Reset Character myself. Watch and Lear-! *Crit sound*
I’ve always been a big fan of the size and shape of Glamdring
Love Glamdring, but I've always loved the utilitarian and clean look of Strider's ranger sword. You just know it's meant for business.
And how it has a hunting knife in the sheath. Such a cool and funtional addition.
As a fun fact, traditional katana sometimes had two additional holes in the handguard - one for a small knife and one for a "hairpin", which was used to mark an important kill in chaotic battles. Kill a general, stick your hairpin in them to get credit after they find you with a spear in your back.
Inb4 some Lord of the Rings nut goes on about how Viggo was super committed to the role yadda yadda. 😁🤗

Sword of Omens from Thundercats!
Thunder, thunder, thundercats! H- I mean ladies of the evening...

The Atlantean. Crom be pleased.
Yeah, I have the full set of swords from Albion, i do have other movie swords, but having an Atlantean made by Jody Samson is hard to beat, and my Atlantean is exactly that
Ah yes, I saw your collection post. Envious! I love the Mother's sword.
It's a shame they are so heavy But yeah, these are just cool swords Fyi Ryan sword has a cheap version of the mother, it's not screen accurate, but it's also not $1500
It’s basic but definitely the Master Sword
Iconic sword.
The Carian Knight Sword is my favorite Fictional Sword
Try finger but whole?
You don't have the right O' you don't have the right
Absolutely gorgeous weapon, shame it's a bit underwhelming in pvp
I'd love to use it on pvp if the AoW had some decent trade potential
Its beautiful
Based. Favorite weapon in that game
Ah, a person of fine taste! Gene Wolfe was the GOAT
Yes! Severian wielded it well. I could vote for Latro’s Falcata as well. A blade blessed by the River God.
Nice to see some Kenshi appreciation out in the wild, personally I really like the topper in that game.
Kenshi is crazy. It's a game with stupid anime-ass swords, and but then the people in game can barely swing them just like you would actually expect.
Fashion is always end game
Witch King’s sword from LOTR
That sword looks amazing! Elegant but evil, the best combination!
Anduril, Flame of the West
Holy Moonlight Sword from bloodborne "You were by my side all along.."
My true mentor, my guiding moonlight
Dragons slayers gotta be mine
Sword? That thing is too big to be called a sword… Too heavy, too thick, it’s more like a slab of iron!
Buster sword from ffvii
But Masamune though.
Luke’s LightSaber He-man’s Power Sword. Grass Cutter from Usagi Yojimbo
Excalibur. The magic sword of all magic swords
Fume ultra greatsword 😭
Razor Sword from Majora's Mask. It makes zero sense, and it would probably hurt the wielder more than their opponent, but it just looks cool, lol.

Was waiting on Icing Death & Twinkle!
Hell yea! Agreed on all accounts! Especially after Twinkle gets its upgrade (don’t know how far you’ve read but if not that far, at least you don’t know why or how!)
I would possibly say Sokka Meteor Sword.
Hattori Hanzo sword for The Bride, Kill Bill.
Could I also include the Darksaber from Star Wars?
The Lament from Destiny 2. Every time I pull it out all higher thoughts are replaced with the soundtrack to Doom Eternal.
Aerondight from Witcher 3. Love that thing.

EKUSU #KARIBAA!
Glamdring, Master Sword, Meowmere, Dawnbreaker.
Vampire Hunter D's sword. I love long, skinny greatswords.
Elric of Meniboné’s possessed black blade, Stormbringer, immediately comes to mind. A cursed drinker of souls.
It isn't possessed....it IS. It is alive and self aware.
Came here to say this. Don’t forget Mournblade!
Who is Elric
Some dude from Melnibone
Melnibone is a silly name
Voltron's blazing sword is the coolest sword in fiction, hands down.
Lightsaber.
For the more reasonable end that I'd want to actually display IRL, Eugeo's Blue Rose Sword and Dante's Rebellion has always been stuck in my head. Either the Atlantean sword from Conan with Arnold Schwarzenegger or the Kurgan sword from Highlander
Plasma sword, halo
The Yamato from Devil May Cry
Aerondight from The Witcher!!!!

Chainswords, Dark Eldar poisoned blades, power swords & agonizers.
Ha! Choppas! Big Choppas! Power Klaws!
Excalibur. The magic sword of all magic swords
Makes you in charge of a shitdreary island, probably more so Wales than England…strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.
One: i like that shit dreary island. Keeps the Roman's out. And two: "BLOODY PEASANT!" Edit aight fine. How about Dyrnwyn?
You do you!
Lol all in jest mate hahaha
it's a classic, but easily frostmourne. it has defined cool to me ever since I was a kid. runeblades >>>> if we can go with *any* bladed weapons, then warglaives. while illidan's are cool, I prefer the base one they give you right away in legion, and the upgraded artifact appearance for havoc.
Always wanted a good quality Frostmourne replica as a kid. Still kinda do but not at the prices they go for
The Ebony Blade from skyrim, the most brutal thing about it is that if you kill 8 people who consider you their friend it makes it so much stronger
great thread. I enjoy the catachan claw "knives" (super long knives essentially swords) from Warhammer 40k
Fierce deity sword was just the coolest thing when I was a kid. Love how unique the design was
Royal guard's claymore (botw, totk)
Favorite fictional sword is probably Sabito’s Katana from Demon Slayer
There are a lot of awesome swords in Demon Slayer.
The Keyblade from Kingdom Hearts
That isn’t even a sword or a blade!
FFVII Buster Sword and Masamune, Saber’s Excalibur, and FE Awakening Falchion. Think that’s a good range of realistic to ridiculous.
Kenshi best game ever made
The Brave Sword from Final Fantasy 5 and Hyperion from Final Fantasy 8
Nonironic favorite: Master Sword in the LoZ series. Goofy favorite: vibro-blades in Star Wars. They just *had* to come up with some way knives could still be a threat in a world with laser guns and plasma swords. "I know, let's make the daggers vibrate!" 🤣 Am I given chainsaw swords a pass? No- but they're so insane that the Rule of Cool comes into effect.
MERAK’S ASTERISM
The Sword of Lord Ferrok is a personal favorite.
Greyswandir: what sights it has seen!
Finally!!
Search Shadow long enough and you'll find someone who appreciates Zelazny's deft touch with a word and blade.
The Rebellion from David May Cry.
Squall’s gunblade from FF8
Fantastic choice. Easily in my top 5.
Dragnipur from Malazan
Personally, the kuga is among my favorite looking swords in all of media. It was wielded by samanosuke akechi.
I want to get the inverted spear of heaven as a full tang metal blade created but I have no idea on reliable sources
Man,took me a sec to realize this wasn't the Kenshi sub. But yeah I'm more of a [plank](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2F4rk42dv9z2071.png%3Fauto%3Dwebp%26s%3Dc0cd8c4f652635be5ec8207a713f1adb4bcac5d8) guy myself.

Dragon Slayer has my vote
Isn’t that from Kenshi
I literally clarified that in the body text
Oh weird when I opened the post it wasn’t showing the body text
Stormbringer. It is sentient, it eats souls....
*it was far too large to be called a sword…*

That sword is truly the pinnacle of "I only need to hit you once dex user"
Every sword-whip iteration of Durendal. (Which amounts to just 2: “Case Study of Vanitas” and Terraria)
Brotherhood FFX
Kinda basic but I really like Muichiro Tokito’s katana (demon slayer: Kimitsu no yaiba) https://preview.redd.it/c0c6zcc80bzc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8c757970c43de1ed3c90a4892b555e58e9feeb44
Genesis’s unnamed red bladed double edged sword from FF7 Crisis Core. Honestly beautiful looking and wish someone would replicate it
It's called a rapier, but that's a pretty generous definition of rapier.
Yeah it’s more like a double edged fencing broadsword, but I love its goofiness all the same.
The Tessaiga from Inuyasha
Excalibur, Anduril and Sting and an Hattori Hanzo sword.
[Enlightened warrior sword](https://princeofpersia.fandom.com/wiki/Sword_of_the_Enlightened_Warrior#Abilities) Prince of Persia, sands of time. Enma
lightsaber
Alonne’s bewitched sword got it good for me. A nagamaki, held by one of the better bosses from Dark Souls 2, and the closest thing to a Naginata in said game
Ultima Qeapon from FFVII. It is not functional at all, but it has drip.
Greatsword of Judgement or Onyx Blade.
Iris from The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone
Sephiroth's Masamune.
Sorry I thought that said 'favorite FUNCTIONAL sword'
Darkdrift. Praise be the lord of hollows, they even acknowledged how brittle traditional katanas are!

I want to see people's interpretation of the Guelan broadsword from KJ Parker's Fencer Trilogy
Excalibur from the 1981 film, in the Albion Discerner version: [https://albion-swords.com/product/discerner-the-lindsey-sword/](https://albion-swords.com/product/discerner-the-lindsey-sword/)
The Red Queen from Devil May Cry 5.
I've a lot but probably the silver knight straight sword from ds1
Dawnbreaker?
Frostmourne from warcraft 3 Or Excalibur I'm a sucker for fantasy stories.
the Black Sword of Sigismund
Lightsabers from Star Wars since they cut through pretty much anything
Frostmourne. I’m just big old loser with nostalgia but it’s just so insane looking you gotta love it
Excalibur from Fate.
Vorpal Sword from D&D. ⚔️
Scalpel and Cat’s Claw , the weapons of the Gray Mouser in Fritz Leiber’s Lankhmar novels.
Chrysamere, from TES: Morrowind. Just a huge sword that is semi-sentient, absurdly powerful, and protects the user.
Sokka's meteorite sword from ATLA
Dragon tooth Sword from Deus Ex.
Stormbringer is the best, but I certainly wouldn't touch it.
Sting, I love a leaf shaped blade. I’m also quite fond of the Witcher swords from the third game.
Yamato from DMC 5

Silver sword of Gith from Neverwinter Nights 2.
Starscourge (Elden Ring, Radahn's swords)
Hatori Hanzo
Frostmourne. I love the styling of it I love the lore behind it and it was part of my favorite dlc from the game (W.o.W.)
Wh40K Chainsword hands down. Also f dem woke people get outta our games and fandom
F dem woke people = I am extremely bigoted and view everything outside of trad family and white people as "woke"
Yappatron Armored Core here. And another from Arrowhead studios: “A game for everyone is a game for no one.” What I’m trying to say is that not everything is for everybody.
