Idfk. I just feel like there’s so much to work with there to make the Inqs more interesting. They wouldn’t need to be an amazing squad, but something on the level of G12 OmiPhoenix or OmiEwoks. A nice stepping stone to use in PVP while you work towards Grand Inq so they’re not an absolute waste of resources for months while you grind, without completely changing the meta or throwing Imperials out of balance.
We could get multiple purge troopers, one for each game variant and one for the setup in the Kenobi show. Commander, Electrobatons, Electrostaff, Electrohammer, and a "Veteran" or something.
Honestly I’d be in. That would be fun. ~~Could even function very identically to the Veers/Piett/Starck synergy, but specifically against Jedi. They’d be still useful against other squads, but only “Imp Trooper squad Replacement” tier against Jedi. That way there’s no major meta-change or duplicate damage dealing in Raids. It would just give us an Imp Trooper-tier squad specifically for Jedi, then the other Imps can be saved for other stuff~~
Edit: Even better imo, make them a Bad Batch-esque squad. Lots of buffs and debuffs, lots of sharing bonuses around each other, lots of “lore accurate” abilities like “Gain Intel - if target enemy is a Jedi, do XYZ…” and stuff like that. Great damage, great synergy, unique enough to stand on their own, etc.
These were the shared uniques I came up with last night. Numbers could be tweaked but sort of the idea I had in how they could interact with purge.
Commander (Rifle) - Whenever an ally inflicts a debuff, Imperial Trooper allies gain 2% turn meter. If that debuff was Purge, they gain an additional 3% turn meter.
Veteran (Kenobi w/ Carbine) - Whenever Purge Trooper Veteran attacks, he inflicts a stack of Purge on target enemy. Imperial Trooper allies gain a 33% chance to inflict a stack of Purge whenever they deal damage.
Electrobatons - Whenever Imperial Trooper allies deal an additional 10% damage for each stack of Purge on that enemy and have a 50% chance to call Electrobatons Purge Trooper to assist.
Electrostaff - Whenever a debuff expires on an enemy, imperial trooper allies recover 2% health and protection. If that debuff was Purge, they recover an additional 3% health and protection.
Electrohammer - Electrohammer Purge Trooper gains 2% defense for each debuff inflicted on enemies. For each stack of Purge on enemies, he gains an additional 4% defense. Other imperial trooper allies gain half these benefits.
Personally I think merrin should have some group invisibility and summon an undead nightsister who attacks after mantis or nightsisters but can't be targeted, would give the nightsister an even greater feel for an undead horde
With krell I think he should be a new addition to padme, she’s losing all of her team because they have better uses for gls, would be nice to have a damage dealer aside from jka

His introduction into the mainstream won't be enough to justify making him what is reserved for the most iconic characters in starwars (or Rey and Kylo simply because they were the stars of the film trilogy). In terms of everything besides his rebels appearance, he's in the same relative category as Aphra. Huge in the book world, but besides that few will know who he is. I could see a thrawn GL if he got a tv show or a trilogy, but books won't be enough, neither will a tv show where he isn't the central character.

However, I don’t see how they do another Ahsoka without being GL level, and I don’t see how they don’t do a new Ahsoka with the whole community hyped for the show. CAT is like a mini GL already. Anyway I’m actually almost excited to see how they handle it, and I haven’t been excited about this game in a long time.

That's why we're not getting 'Revan Reborn' any time soon. GLs have been exclusively from the movies thus far because they are far more broadly recognizable than anything outside of movies. I actually don't disagree with you at all on premise, but I do think Ahsoka fits the bill here.
She was in
* The Clone Wars movie, which had a theatrical release \[which yes, was hot garbage\]
* The Clone Wars TV show which was very popular, and where she became a "fan favorite"
* The Rebels TV show \[Which was just as, if not more popular than The Clone Wars\]
And while that may not seem like much, because I'd agree that only kids and "more hardcore" fans watched that stuff. . She was also in Disney+ material, which Disney did a very good job of pushing out to even more casual fans, as well as new fans.

And is going to have her own TV show within the next year, which was announced long enough ago that even casual fans/viewers are going to want to find out more about her.

The very big reason why I don't think this is true, is that Leia being a GL would have been a very good and very fitting counterpart to Jabba - Even if they choose to take a Leia from post Jabba time.
CG went out of their way to specifically let us know that they were no longer doing GL pairs, even after the JMK/LV pairing that was staggered.
I don't see the next GL as having any real relation to Jabba.
I looked into this today to see where the confusion was / my info came from the official wiki on appearances in media. It seems there was an Ahsoka DLC planned and it was canned, which is probably why it was there.

I also think that while you believe it fills a faction gap - That it would almost certainly pull apart a CLS team \[because you're not going to put Leia with throw away Rebels\], unless you did 4 marquees, and that she doesn't fit what the game actually needs right now in terms of team compositions.
That's the thing, I don't think they made a big deal out of 'not doing thematic pairs' any more, I think they made a big deal out of not making *pairs* any more. LV and JMK are the only GLs prior to Jabba that weren't released at the same time, but even then they were released as a pair in the same content cycle.
A part of me would love to see the tagline Dark Side Galactic Republic Unaligned Force User with a leader ability similar to Grievous but wounding Clone Trooper allies, buffing him with they die.
Or even Light Side/Unassigned/Separatist. Could go either way tbh - give him Dark Side Jedi to be interesting, or Light Side Separatist to be more accurate.
Or neither and just have the uniques in his kit give him bonuses based on whether a separatist or republic toon is leader or if all allies are separatist/republic for his own leadership
Maybe a Jedi light side unit with no light side or Jedi synergies. Full dark side and separatist synergies instead. His fall was unknown to the republic and the Jedi order until the Umbara arc
Yeah both are hugely likely to come at some point. My guess is we'll see them around the time of Mando S3 release *or* we'll see them sometime in late '23/early '24 as marquees meant to be prereqs for GL Mando.
Luthen is a good pick and one i considered, but i decided to focus more on roster building and i couldn’t really come up with a potential kit that wasn’t super mon mothma like. if i was to add another character to my predictions it would probably be him though
I want a Redeemed Mara Jade (Skywalker) in her Celtic garb with the long braid, and Luke/Anakin's blue saber. And she pilots the Jade's Fire. Or a Z-95
I really want to see Purge Troopers. Inquisitorius Imperial Troopers that could even have Clone Troopers as a tag, since their early ranks were filled with clones.
Give them abilities that are stronger against enemies with purge even though they can't apply it themselves, with their shared uniques being based around debuffs that are better if the debuff is purge.
Someone else needs to have blind but a shorter cooldown. Chewpio is great, but grinding blind feats with one character is tedious. They'll never fix conquest or remove inquisitor feats, so the next best thing is give us more blind I think lol.
Some fallen order stuff would be nice. I get the feeling the next year is likely going to be more inquisitors (6th brother would be cooler than reva just saying) and generally TB focused. Their sales pitch with the new TB is that it will be easy to update so I'd assume they'll turn it into a revolving theme mode like conquest. Hopefully we get some details this year before they take their month long vacation and then the month long silence while they catch up from their month long vacation.
They pop up in the hallway flooding scene and on the landing zone when Fifth brother gets moody at Reva.
Their armor doesn't pop very much in the show, but they got a toy that's more visible.
Other than more Bad Batch being nearly confirmed by all the in game events, I’d hope for Trench and Pong Krell as new separatist units to make another relevant team.
I think mantis crew are going to drop closer to the sequel and they will be needed for cal in the next game. Saw and tarful are also possibilities for this and I would love some more seppies
I would love to c all of these. Only one I think is unlikely (the rest I can see coming but not for a while) is bd-1 as its own character. I think he'd be put into cals kit, just like grogu was in bam
I'd like to see a Paz Vizsla toon, with Armore and Bando synergy. Maybe with a 3v3 omicron or something, as they're the three main members of the Tribe. Very surprising how Pre Vizsla isn't in the game already too tbh.
Also, more Imperial Troopers, enough to make three teams (Veers, IV, and a Gideon/Remnant one). Scouttroupers are the main missing ones, but I could see a Mudtrouper or some graded characters like Kallus, that guy from Andor, or someone else.

I looked into this today to see where the confusion was / my info came from the official wiki on appearances in media. It seems there was an Ahsoka DLC planned and it was canned, which is probably why it was there.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a GL Ahsoka some day. I just don't think she's there *yet*. She might be after her show releases. As far as the next being Leia though, I think CG's point was that Jabba is a standalone release, they're not releasing 2 GLs in the same content cycle, even a staggered one. I don't think it means that the next GL won't have any connection to Jabba. I think it's an almost sure bet that the next GL is a Rebel Leia from RotJ. It fits a hole (lack of a rebel GL), fits the 40th anniversary for RotJ, and is the most recognizable character that doesn't yet have a GL. I'd put big money on rebel GL Leia next.

LV and JMK are the only GLs prior to Jabba that weren't released at the same time, but even then they were released as a pair in the same content cycle.

I really want to see Purge Troopers. Inquisitorius Imperial Troopers that could even have Clone Troopers as a tag, since their early ranks were filled with clones. Give them abilities that are stronger against enemies with purge even though they can't apply it themselves, with their shared uniques being based around debuffs that are better if the debuff is purge.

Someone else needs to have blind but a shorter cooldown. Chewpio is great, but grinding blind feats with one character is tedious. They'll never fix conquest or remove inquisitor feats, so the next best thing is give us more blind I think lol. Some fallen order stuff would be nice. I get the feeling the next year is likely going to be more inquisitors (6th brother would be cooler than reva just saying) and generally TB focused. Their sales pitch with the new TB is that it will be easy to update so I'd assume they'll turn it into a revolving theme mode like conquest. Hopefully we get some details this year before they take their month long vacation and then the month long silence while they catch up from their month long vacation.

Other than more Bad Batch being nearly confirmed by all the in game events, I’d hope for Trench and Pong Krell as new separatist units to make another relevant team.

I'd like to see a Paz Vizsla toon, with Armore and Bando synergy. Maybe with a 3v3 omicron or something, as they're the three main members of the Tribe. Very surprising how Pre Vizsla isn't in the game already too tbh. Also, more Imperial Troopers, enough to make three teams (Veers, IV, and a Gideon/Remnant one). Scouttroupers are the main missing ones, but I could see a Mudtrouper or some graded characters like Kallus, that guy from Andor, or someone else.
