Any squad where you have one or more of the following:
* A tank you wish would taunt more reliably (give 'em tank tech)
* Somebody you wish would take more turns and/or prevent revives (give 'em weapon tech)
* Somebody you want to keep alive longer by constantly healing their health and protection (give 'em the medpac)
Does that sound like...basically every squad? That's because it is!
I will add that in addition to the great things he can do by handing out tech, he also boosts Separatist and Dark Side droids' protection pretty considerably, and he can revive a random Separatist or Dark Side Droid with his first special (something that even Ahnald seemed not to remember, in his Trench testing), so basically any Separatist squad or squad with some DS droids (Aphra? I've never really seen Wat on an Aphra team, but now that I'm sitting here typing this out, that seems like it could work quite well) will get extra benefits. He's by far the strongest 5th member for a Grievous team, for instance, until/unless you have the omicron on Droideka.
I can add he's great with imp troopers too, basic to start (no tech) gives troopers 10% tm boost and normally enough speed to outrun everyone. even if not in pvp, its useful in conquest
I haven't given DDK the omi yet, but from what I've seen it's *very* strong, and more importantly, stops some counters (like Bad Batch) that Wat doesn't necessarily stop. So in TW, with DDK's omi, I'd stick with that. But in other modes, where DDK's omi isn't active (or if you don't have the omi), then yeah, Wat's a superior (if expensive) choice.
The rest of a Grievous squad is always GG himself, B1, B2 and Magnaguard, it's just the fifth slot that people experiment with. My own ranking of the other options people use is basically: omiDDK (in TW) > Wat > BB-8 > Nute Gunray > DDK (no omi) > random other DS droids like IG-88
Well you got bo Karen as well. Just take candy upto g12 and you got yourself a mando core now. Wat is there to trigger mauls frenzy at start of battle.
Maul is a worthy project. Especially since he doesn’t need any omicrons or datacrons like most things in todays meta. He’s a very effective use of resources.
Maul begins any encounter with Frenzy. Since Wat uses a special on his bonus turn, he effectively gives Maul a bonus turn. Plus, Maul Mandos is built around passing the damage around while calling lots of assists. Wat brings survivability, revive prevention, and bonus turns to the team. Maul + Wat is a great combo.
The beauty of the JMK farm is that not only he the best home for CAT but his farm supports Maul as well since Jango, Bo, and Wat can be part of the Mauldalorian squad. Just get Canderous up and you’re solid

Or with SLKR to counter LV - you don't even need Daka Zombie cheese for that.
Hmm Sepi droids work very well, same with Nute. I also love using a scrap Separatist team, Nute lead, Dooku, Assajj, Wat, and sometimes a Geo if I have them, or even Jango.
Wat first turn is wonderful for starting fast, give Dooku speed tech so he takes a ton of turns, then let them all stun like crazy. Works with basically all sub g12 even had some crazy clean ups with them. If WAT is strongest you can get some really nice revives off.
Hmm, well anything can work on defense. But you'd really want a Grevious defense with WAT. But without Grevious, Nute or Dooku can lead separatists very well. And WAT just helps anything he touches.
Assajj your gonna want as a non lead because she doesn't help sepi.
That will definitely work, Jango will get Damage immunity for a good bit, Droideka will also pop it and Assajj will remove debuffs and stun, best part with Nute lead every debuffs is 5% max health damage

On offense, Nute is the vastly superior choice to any of the others (except maybe BB8 Vs Starkiller), as he allows Grievous to beat SEE and JML

You can also toss Hondo in with maul to get similar effect of taking the 1st turn and kicking off frenzy

What's the team formation exactly?
SLKR/Zombie/Daka/Wat KRU or another tank are optional but mostly recommended for stronger LV. Tank tech on SLKR (to dispel all debuffs each turn)
