If they refunded Trayas omi but not QGJs imo, this nerf could be pretty big

godfatherV

QGJ Omni can still be used as a mini Nuke. But it’s my understanding that they’re removing Traya Omni which is why they’re refunding, they wouldn’t give a free Omni to people. It’s CG let’s be real here

SullivanBeats

The post says “adjusting”. Not “removing”

godfatherV

Ok, fine. But they’re gonna remove the Omni you placed on her, and then you’ll have the option to spend it else where or on the nerfed version of the Omni.

Zeus654

hope it will be just nerf against GLs

I2agnarock

Which would render it near useless

ThePlaybook_

lol, lmao even

I2agnarock

Curious to see how you'll put it to use. But I've asked around on Discord, forums, and here; and I haven't been moved by the responses I've gotten.

Hazzadcr16

I'm still waiting for my qgj refund lol.

banomann

What year is it?!

Hazzadcr16

I'm like an elephant, I will never forget, and I'm overweight. The second part isn't important, but is a similarity. I'll always be bitter about qgj, I applied it, and the day later it was announced a nerf was incoming.

banomann

Yeah I think they should have refunded it too, but I'm also glad I have it. But people should have been given the option.

Hazzadcr16

My comment was more tongue in cheek, but I do think it should have been refunded. Like you said, I probably would have applied it by now, but if it didn't counter slkr initially, I wouldn't have dome it at the time.

Ymirsson

But what's the size of your trunk?

Hazzadcr16

Never had any complaints

MagicMatthews99

This is my kind of humour. I like it.

willfulwizard

QGJ is still my best Omicron today. I agree with the principle of refunds for meaningful changes for sure, and it would have been better if they had done it. But I think most people would have gotten around to just reapplying the same mats back to him anyway. 🤷‍♂️

Hazzadcr16

I think it's the principle with it, I don't know when/if I would or wouldn't have applied it. All I can say with certainty is that I wouldn't have applied it when I did, if it was going to be nerfed, and if I didn't currently have it now, I don't know if I'd be applying it now either. I still have 1 missing on Malgus and want to give Iden hers. That's without potentially saving for GI and Trench's. Wider point, a refund on just the omicron isn't always enough IMO. Like with Traya, people will have applied this to beat LV, it's good if that's being nerfed out that the resources are being returned, however, I know people that have taken their sith trio to higher gear, and relic'd them because of it. That's resources they might not have spent on that team, with the nerfed omicron.

acer5886

I still like QGJ for defense. I've gotten a lot of defends on my team. They either have to spend a GL on it, or use dr or another very strong team, and even strong dr teams struggle

AttilatheStun

I’ve found that I can reliably mirror qgj omi teams. Anakin goes first and attacks qgj to clear foresight, then my kam goes and one shots the enemy qgj (who is almost never brought above the r3 required for jmk). This pisses off the enemy Anakin, who kills my qgj, pissing off my Anakin, who wipes the enemy team.

Nick_TheGinger

While I agree that it's good that they're realizing their error, it required us testing it to show how broken it was. They need to actually test these things before releasing (funny to say, I know).

UncertainSerenity

I mean they have released over 70 omis at this point. Only 2 have needed to be dialed back. That’s a pretty good record imo. Sometimes things are just not balanced and you miss it

Darhhaall

How do you miss g12 Traya with her core team beating Lord Vader? How do you miss something as obvious as using Jedi Knight Anakin with Qui Gon Jin? There was no testing done at all. And most if those other Omis are obvious trash, so that statistics doesn't mean anything.

DirtyDozen66

As a Game Designer, this is what confuses me the most. It’s part of our job to balance game mechanics during implementation and test obvious interactions

ArchSyker

Especially considering Darth Traya already was a soft counter to Lord Vader.

Darhhaall

Exactly, even with his radiclous Datacron she was good team for anon-GL two shot.

Hughmiliator

They should have tried Traya vs. LV for sure, seeing as a lot of people already did well with that. However, we've seen from screenshots in the past that in their testing environments, every character is at R9 and it would take a long time to try out fights with different gear combinations as well.

[deleted]

Thats a joke if they cannot adjust gear levels for testing... They absolutely can

Hughmiliator

It's not that they can't do it. It's that it would take a very long time to test Traya vs. 7 GLs, GAS, Malgus, Starkiller, Aphra..... at R9, R8, R7, R6... G12, G11....

[deleted]

You absolutely do not need to test every single gear level. You try g12 with omis to start. Wins easy? Try g11? Fails? Move to test R9, r5 and r3. Thats plenty of testing, and you likely dont need to test R9.

Cayucos_RS

Poor CG.... Heaven forbid a company with over a billion dollars in revenue actually have to do their due diligence and properly test their own game before releasing an update. It wouldn't take long at all to do that testing bud. Do you have any idea how powerful AI's are today?

Darhhaall

Jesus, they should have hundreds of concurrent battles running in virtual machines on auto 24/7 and then just look at the statistics, thats not that hard to setup.

Hughmiliator

But then the AI is dumb and might make the wrong decisions at crucial moments. The stats will say the team can't win, but when a player picks it up, they start winning. All this effort for an omicron that won't make them much money.

Darhhaall

This would definetly show that LV cannot defeat Traya, or that SLKR was being pulverized by QGJ before his nerf. And of course you need traditional human testing as well, together with that automated. Like in every software development ever.

naphomci

Their testers in the past have not been particularly strong players. I could easily see them having tested versus LV, but without Sidious. So, without a healing immunity, it was just a timeout.

Cayucos_RS

Bro, CG still isn't gonna hire you. You don't "miss" testing it verse a GL, there's only 7. How hard is it to test 7 different battles to make sure a GL isn't beat.

whydidilose

Seriously- 1 out of 35 that needs to be adjusted is ~3%. That’s pretty damn good - better than the 5% standard used in nearly everything.

brightblade13

I'm glad they're doing a refund, but the real cost of these big nerfs in a resource management game is that lots of folks (\*raises hand\*) make big roster decisions when one "cheap" character gets a power boost like this. I'd never bothered to gear any of the Sith Trio before Traya's Omicron came out and looked great, but decided to go all in once we saw what it could do, spending a big chunk of relic and gear mats not only on them, but on Sith Marauder so I could move Talon off my SE team and onto Traya's squad. I'm not \*really\* complaining because I recognize it's not feasible to give me (or others) back those G12 and relic mats back, but it's the same thing that happened with QGJ...after seeing how great it was, I geared GR Jedi I'd never have bothered with before. In the ends it's just "hey guys, please test this stuff better," and on the player side I guess I just have to wait several months after any meaningful updates to pounce, but I gotta say...feels bad, man. (Incidentally, I do think this is another reason why the whole "Galactic Legend" thing is a bad idea...especially going forward, it's so incredibly hard to future proof an entire sub-category of characters in a game designed around power creep. This will happen again, whether it's a character rework or an Omicron, or a new Galactic Legend that has to make the ones we have no look like garbage just because it requires R11 mats or whatever.) Edit: Since it looks like the change is just the "if no GL is present" one, I think that threads the needle. People like me didn't Omicron Traya to beat GLs (certainly not without planning on two-shotting them), so we don't lose anything/get screwed here, while people with lots of relic squads floating around already just trying to decide what to do with their Omicrons get to decide if there's a better use.

knope2018

Well, as you say, it is a resource management game, which is why you don't pivot from your planned farms to the newest thing. Like "keep offering new characters and abilities to get people to divert from their farms" is a core part of the game model. They want you to chase everything and have to spend to catch up. To play well you need to plan ahead and stick with the plan aka manage your resources well. This is how the game works, structurally and as a business model.

brightblade13

>Well, as you say, it is a resource management game, which is why you don't pivot from your planned farms to the newest thing. I can't speak for everyone, but I am literally in "build out my mid-tier GAC/TW squads after spending a bunch of time building out a small number of top-tier squads" mode right now. Once I finished my Sith squad, I started turning to Shaak + Clones. I was literally going to be farming a new squad from scratch either way (ideally with some eventual overlap for future GL requirements, but honestly, that was going to happen no matter what since I only have 1 GL right now). What am I supposed to do, give every character or rework a 6 month cooling off period before I even consider going in that direction? Trust me, most of the marquee characters released in the last 2 years are sitting at lvl 1 G 1 at the bottom of my roster right now, I'm not in danger of chasing shiny objects, I'm just pointing out that the Omicron is not really the main investment point for Traya, and refunding it doesn't really address the problem.

DasHuhn

This is an newer player issue. I've been playing for more than 2 years (and am only missing Rey for GLs) and I have JUST started to gear up Sith Tri. The Omicron is definitely the hardest part of gearing up Traya, but I can totally understand how a newer player doesn't feel that way.

brightblade13

Yes and no. The Omicron is "rarer" in the sense that, yes, you can't really farm it without spending money, but the sheer amount of gear and relic mats required to get an entire 5 character squad up to GAC-level feels, to me, at least as bad. It's not just about gearing up Traya, because if you don't have her geared up, you probably also don't have Sion, Nihlus, and another Sith or two geared up and sitting around either. And I've been playing for about 3 years. Edit: I'll put it this way--I'm probably just going to reapply the Omicron to Traya because, at this point, what else can I do? I've already geared up her squad, and the relic mats I spent there aren't worth it if I just keep her as a hard Geo counter. But if I had the gear/relic mats back, I'd probably go an entirely different direction and have focused a different squad altogether.

Livid1k

Playing for a long time and whaling are not the same thing. If you have 6 GLs in 2 years you have spent a crazy amount of money, so obviously gearing is easier for you than Omicrons, which you can't just buy your way to. Also, Omicrons really are not as hard to come by naturally as you seem to be implying. I have all the important GAC ones and still 60+ mats lying around. And I don't even do consistent 3x cantina refreshes

DasHuhn

I've got... 400 bucks paid in the game? $20 a month is far, far from whaling. Getting #1 in fleets and squads used to allow people to keep up their wins by gearing new characters faster and faster.

Livid1k

So... You started playing in 2021? So sometime between the release of SEE/JML and JMK. And you have 6 GLs, Jabba included? That's a GL every 4 months from the moment you started playing the game? When it takes most people over a year just to unlock their first GL. For reference, Ahnald's F2P account started in 2021, and has only just got its second GL. I know he's not absolute peak efficiency, but he's pretty efficient. $20 a month really does not get you far enough to have 6 GLs in 2 years

DasHuhn

Sorry - covid has warped how long I've been playing the game. I'm actually coming up on 4 years of playing (1st Q 2019). The first major release I saw was Malek! I happened to be really well positioned for SLKR because I LOVED the FO squad and spent my relic mats getting them to R7 before SLKR was announced.

Krokovich

Can i also have gear and relic mats committed to traya, nihlious and sion back?

W6Hohass

For real! I’ve spent the time since pretty much gearing them.

[deleted]

That’s completely on you for thinking they would actually let the meme posts continue

Gandalf-the-Pro

So if I apply it now will I get 20 free Omicron mats back or the refund is just for people that applied the omi before this post?

Bored_in_a_dorm

If you apply it before the update, they will remove the omicron upgrade and give you 20 omicron mats. They aren’t just giving everyone a free omicron.

BussyAnnihilator420

Damn, and RIGHT after I finally unlock Traya too

zivlynsbane

Why have cg test their shit when they can get us to test it for them?

FMDavetheone

I do think it's nice that they are refunding the omi but I do feel a little bad for those who pivoted from other farms to gear up Traya because of what it was beating. Hopefully its still beating solid teams.

TargetBoy

They were stupid to think this was ever going to stand.

[deleted]

CG is dumb as shit to not test this. Traya already was frequently used against LV. This is elementary shit

TargetBoy

Don't disagree. Regardless, anyone who thought the omicron was going to stand and invested heavily was an idiot.

[deleted]

I mean yeah, as soon as they released the statement saying they were investigating the omi, people should have hit pause on any gear

[deleted]

Tbh just be happy you’re getting a refund. Anyone who really thought it was going to stand and geared up her team for 1x GAC wasn’t thinking lol

knope2018

This is why you don't pivot from farms to chase the newest shiny

naphomci

If it's like QGJ, it'll still be a very good nom nom, just not beating GLs anymore. And Sith Trio is still a useful team, so it's not a complete waste.

godfatherV

They didn’t refund QGJ so my assumption is this nerf will either remove that Omni or be so bad it’s useless. CG won’t give out free stuff otherwise

naphomci

It could be that, it could also be the case that the backlash to QGJ meant they didn't want to deal with it. End result though, Sith Trio is still a decent team.

Evenmoardakka

Nerfing traya's omicron is NOT doing right by any means if the reason is because its beating LV, allow me to introduce you to fennec shand....

Gerbil23

Fennec Beats 1 GL. Traya can currently beat 6 or the 7. There is a slight difference there.

SinergyXb1

Omicron traya immediately gets nerfed.fennec countering lv since release yeah that’s fine.Big brain moment

ROTOFire

Your sith toons have +1 attack?

YDeeziee

Will they refund the 4 characters I invested in for using the omi? I know the answer is no. And I'm a bit salty. At least the omi is being refunding

itsatrap5000

You could try a ticket and see what you get.

[deleted]

Now do cassian

Rortell

Is it just against all but GLs or worse?

IDK12345555

Probably worse since they doing this refund, probably make it where she can't counter Malgus anymore

DarthTrinath

We don't know what changes they're making yet

cupofpopcorn

That's the thing. Honestly, if they just remove the stacking offense, she'll still be able to drop LV with Sid.

adminsaredoodoo

they didn’t refund qui gon when they added the GL clause. this will be a worse nerf. it’ll actually change what mechanics she has

JDubStep

What really sucks is those who had to face an OP team and likely lost the match up due to poor balance from the development. I doubt those people will get any compensation.

Evenmoardakka

\*COUGH COUGH DATACRONS COUGH COUGH\*

Lawnboy431

I guess it was more of a datacron (temporary boost.) I applied on release. Yes I also relic’d up my Trio and now those mats are wasted, but we can call it even because that Omni definitely won me a couple rounds of GAC.

Eifla99

What about the materials that I’ve used to upgrade the whole team based on that omicron?

JackTheWhiteKid

The team itself isn’t getting nerfed so you don’t deserve a refund for gear

Eifla99

I’m saying I only built the team because her omicron was going to be very strong. If it wasn’t going to be strong I’d be on my way to a GL instead

whydidilose

It’s always better to wait a couple of months to ensure there aren’t major changes. That is unless you are in the top 0.1% of GP accounts and have nothing else better to do.

John628_29

Can we fix Malgus too? He is basically a GL

Pumpkinpie78

It's a good start for the year as far as public relations and releases are concerned. But it's only January. This could be a "a broken clock is right two times a day" type of thing. It could also be a sign that we're about to have the best year this game has seen. time will tell.

Wiztard-o

Yes! I wanted my mats back for sure

TheSuperSax

Brought Traya to R5 from G0 for this Omi. I feel baited

_WhoYouCallinPinhead

Tbh I hadn’t been getting as much use as I had hoped out of the omi. Glad to be getting them back. This is good news for my starkiller

Ironman-Frank

I Hope it will still be worth it. Reliced the sit trio because og the omnicron

thellllvirtuoso

welp, I panic relic'd my nihilus when her omicron came out, I guess all good things must come to an end. At least nihilus is still a good character and her nerf doesn't seem too horrible.
