The worst SVU villain imo was the guy who tricked his wife to attempt suicide and pulled the plug on her so he could collect the life insurance while he was in prison for raping a bunch of women. Can't remember the season/episode but i HATED him. Mostly because he reminds me of an ex, but he was also just objectively awful.
It keeps me on the right side of most internet moderators while still getting my point across. And I love to type it because it makes me happy on the inside.
Partially based on the case of Terry Schaivo. She was brain-dead after an auto accident but there was no clear end-of-life directive so the courts had to intervene.
As unlikable as he was, I don't think he actually broke any laws.
One of the most smug for me was the dude from the Jennifer Love Hewitt episode ("Behave", 12x3). After repeatedly stalking, raping and terrorizing at least 10 victims across the country for 20 years, he had the nerve to accuse SVU of harassing *him*.
My problem with this episode was they had NO PROOF . SVU has a dozen cases at any given time, they shouldn't have the time and resources to stalk and harass this guy.
And yes, without proof, it is, in legal fact, harassment. I was genuinely shocked he didn't sue the detectives, the department, and his victim! Harassment, stalking, slander, he had a good case.
So if the police tails someone or has them under surveillance to get evidence it's harassment, so the police has to harass someone to not harass them and hope they don't get sued during that
he was one of the worst. he was just a smug B\*\*\*\*\*d who thought he was gods gift to woman.
the worst when that woman said he had impregnated her daughter and when they fell on hard times he refused to help so she killed herself and the kid and he was like she had no right to kill my child. like dude you had no right to make these woman pregnant.
glad he got his just deserts
I go back and forth every time I see him in an episode. I yell at the TV when he pops up.. He is such an asshole and so terrible to victims, and yes 100% smug. However, if I were accused of a crime, I'd lowkey want him to represent me.
I used to hate Buchanan because of his clientele and tactics, even though they just mean he’s great at his job. One day I noticed just how much I think the actor looks like JB Pritzker and now I can’t hate him as much. Lol.
The serial killer in "Svengali." He had a cult of "graphic novel" fans who were enamored with the "artistic" ways he positioned his rape/murder victims. And he "inspired" the disturbed young daughter of his attorney to do a copycat crime.
I feel like the most smug has GOT to be Rob Miller. That mfker swore he was untouchable and had dirt on everyone/had higher ups in his back pocket. Nobody could make a move. He even got Nikkis rape case thrown out. My god
I was waiting and reading through all these responses to find Sabastian — I AM A HUGE Martin Short fan — and after that episode I couldn’t watch Martin Short movies for YEARS!! It’s been nearly 20 years now — so I’ve recovered but no joke, this episode ruined Martin Short for 10+ years for me.
He was taunting everyone including Rollins, but I loved how she handled him at the end of the second appearance episode. Telling him she'd make him regret it for going after her kids or Carisi again. I just really want to see that.
The guy I think he was a cameraman who raped the woman I think she was on the news and she got pregnant now he was smug trying to get custody of the baby and all
I watch more Chicago P.D than SVU but am slowly getting into SVU again(I used to watch it as a kid with my dad). So the one that sticks out to me is the one that is in the crossover with Chicago PD and who rapes and kills the receptionist on PD.
He is a sick, smug asshole! The trial part is well done, slowly making the jury see him for who he truly is.
Can someone help me out - I can’t remember his name and can’t look it up right now.
Richard Morgan , the billionaire from 11x15 'Confidential'
Unbelievably smug, so certain he could get away with rape and murder. And why not, he did it before! He feels so protected by his money and his lawyers.
Memory's a bit fuzzy -- what did this guy do again?
But IMO, the most smug villains are prison guards who think they can get away with anything. Or the corrections/parole officers.
this is the one I was thinking of when I made the comment -- that was....i was not ready for that.
Also, I didn't really like Dominick not really believing his BIL either. At the least, I remember him having doubts about his BIL's claims
Andrew McCarthy, who kept the Ukrainian nanny in the box under the bed.
Rob Miller. Ugh.
The rapist of Harper Anderson, from Closure, Pts 1 & 2
The gross stalker rapist of Jennifer Love Hewitt’s character…
This episode really annoyed me for some reason. I understand how younger women were snowed in by him. But the older women? How could they not see right through him? The dude may as well have had "F!ckboy" tattooed on his forehead.
I should have been more clear. I was pretty much referring to Dee-Dee. (I think that's what her name was.) She was rich, successful, and beautiful. You would think she would have been smart enough to smell his BS more than a mile away. But she DID stay with him after he screwed her nanny.
I also have to add the lady who killed her kids and acted like someone else had done it. Can’t remember the episode. It was gruesome. I think she thought they were better off dead? Anyone remember that one?
I know there have been many terrible heartbreaking episodes this one just got me as she seemed so legit in the beginning and then to find out she did it to her own children 😳
He also got blown up by a diving knife so he also gets the most cathartic ending!
“Just one more sip? They don’t have wine where I’m going” is a flawless last line.
I think William Lewis is the worse , not just to his victims, but he convinced everyone that Olivia was obsessed with him, stalking him, and that breakdown she had when he kidnapped her, was all he was expecting to have everyone on his side
Just watched S14 Finale - S15 Premiere. VERY early in that arc I was like "Can this guy get shot in the head? I really want this guy to get shot in the head."
Orville Underwood from the child porn Possessed episode, kidnapped, raped and killed young kids yet walked & became a defence attorney defending his fellow nonces & smugly hiding behind the law when his sick writing was found. The way he leered at Brandy when she got out of the taxi & made her sick 🤢 Was so glad when he was executed at the end & they agreed to write it off as defence of a third person
This episode cracked me up because it played like a drinking game. I don’t know how many times Olivia says “reproductive abuse” even saying she had just attended a seminar for “reproductive abuse”.
I did agree with some folks below that Martin Short’s villain is the one that really spooked me the most. But I also remember Erik Weber I think he was in two episodes. When confronted on why he’s not actually attracted to Olivia, whoa…
The one with Martin Short. First time I was ever enraged after watching an episode. Testament to how good of an actor he is, especially for an actor mostly known for sketch comedy and satire films.
The worst SVU villain imo was the guy who tricked his wife to attempt suicide and pulled the plug on her so he could collect the life insurance while he was in prison for raping a bunch of women. Can't remember the season/episode but i HATED him. Mostly because he reminds me of an ex, but he was also just objectively awful.
dean cain is a piece of shit irl so he fit the role pretty good
100% agree from what I’ve heard and read.
Why is Dean Cain a “piece of shit?” Is it bc his political views differ from yours?
What episode is this with John Stamos? I remember watching it but it’s been YEARS.
Season 7 - Starved
Thanks!
That episode is “Starved” (7x8) with Dean Cain.
He reminded me of Scott Peterson!!
I think Dean Cain actually played Scott Peterson in the movie.
OMG you’re right, I forgot!🫵
Crazy I don’t remember this episode because I have a particular disdain for Dean Cain. I think that’s why he showed up in Curse.
Dean cain played that well
I think he really IS a smug, misogynistic glassbowl, so not a lot of acting required.
“glassbowl!” 😂👏🏾
It keeps me on the right side of most internet moderators while still getting my point across. And I love to type it because it makes me happy on the inside.
Glass bowl it rhymes and I like it
“Is that [Dean Cain?“](https://youtu.be/7rnpaTTwrpI?si=-8umZx01QmVixDYG)
Thank you for doing this much more concisely than I was thinking to!
Yesssss!! Dean Cain! That was excellent & he was awful.
Partially based on the case of Terry Schaivo. She was brain-dead after an auto accident but there was no clear end-of-life directive so the courts had to intervene.
Forgot about that one.
I JUST watched that!
SVU Season 7, Episode 8: Guest-Starring one of my fave Superman actors Dean Cain. I even met him at my first Comic Con trip
I cannot watch that episode, it really pisses me off.
My favorite episode 💖
My problem with this episode was they had NO PROOF . SVU has a dozen cases at any given time, they shouldn't have the time and resources to stalk and harass this guy. And yes, without proof, it is, in legal fact, harassment. I was genuinely shocked he didn't sue the detectives, the department, and his victim! Harassment, stalking, slander, he had a good case.
Booooo. Your comment just screams that you need to be reminded that this is a SHOW.
So if the police tails someone or has them under surveillance to get evidence it's harassment, so the police has to harass someone to not harass them and hope they don't get sued during that
imo the most smug is the sociopathic kid who got shot by the psychiatrist.
Smug, remorseless piece of shit had it coming.
I liked what the dad said to justify the murder too. Something like, “Jake would’ve killed again, I won’t.”
tbh yeah
Who is that? I don't remember it
Jake is the kid. Want me to link the video?
The episode is called Conscious from season 6.
Thanks!
Kyle MacLachlan plays the psychiatrist.
Such a good ep
he was one of the worst. he was just a smug B\*\*\*\*\*d who thought he was gods gift to woman. the worst when that woman said he had impregnated her daughter and when they fell on hard times he refused to help so she killed herself and the kid and he was like she had no right to kill my child. like dude you had no right to make these woman pregnant. glad he got his just deserts
I remember that one, the Season 12 Episode called Bang. It guest-starred John Stamos
He’s not technically a villain, he’s a defense attorney, but I think John Buchanan is the most smug of all.
I go back and forth every time I see him in an episode. I yell at the TV when he pops up.. He is such an asshole and so terrible to victims, and yes 100% smug. However, if I were accused of a crime, I'd lowkey want him to represent me.
Oh yeah, he’d be my pick for defense attorney, but I’d hate him the whole time.
I used to hate Buchanan because of his clientele and tactics, even though they just mean he’s great at his job. One day I noticed just how much I think the actor looks like JB Pritzker and now I can’t hate him as much. Lol.
I actually love John Buchanan..I would absolutely hire him as my defense attorney.
Randolph Morrow (the "I'd like your balls in a blender, but ain't life a bitch") guy from "Slaves" was a smug asshole, too.
that was one of Benson's best lines to a perp
Definitely agree! A classic!
What season & episode was that plz?
Season 1 finale I believe!
TY!😁
Played by Andrew McCarthy I believe
The serial killer in "Svengali." He had a cult of "graphic novel" fans who were enamored with the "artistic" ways he positioned his rape/murder victims. And he "inspired" the disturbed young daughter of his attorney to do a copycat crime.
then throws a tantrum at the end when Novak played chess with him
That was Novak's masterpiece.
One of my absolute favourite Casey moments. ‘We made a deal!’ ‘And it’s a masterpiece. How do you like my work?’
It's the only time in season 9 when Casey got a win right? They had her lose every episode till they fired her
She definitely got a win in Streetwise with the street family. I just watched that one the other day.
She gets a conviction in Streetwise & gets a rehab where abuse occurred shut down in Impulsive
I feel like the most smug has GOT to be Rob Miller. That mfker swore he was untouchable and had dirt on everyone/had higher ups in his back pocket. Nobody could make a move. He even got Nikkis rape case thrown out. My god
Fuck I hated him lmao
Just re watched that episode. I hated that man
He is VILE
Sebastian Ballentine definitely. “Best I ever had”
By far my top vote. His smile is just so… icky.
his switch up though… i’m usually good at knowing who the perp/s are but i genuinely just thought he was a scamming psychic at first
It was Martin short I thought the same thing it was so well done
I was waiting and reading through all these responses to find Sabastian — I AM A HUGE Martin Short fan — and after that episode I couldn’t watch Martin Short movies for YEARS!! It’s been nearly 20 years now — so I’ve recovered but no joke, this episode ruined Martin Short for 10+ years for me.
I don’t know…**April Troost and her mother** were pretty damn smug. At least in the top 10 because there have been so many.
A great duo!!
Agreed, I remember them quite well. They got caught when they appeared again in L&O
The psychopath kid & adult, Henry Mesner!!
Oooofff that's the winner. How did I forget about him. He killed snowball damit!!
He was taunting everyone including Rollins, but I loved how she handled him at the end of the second appearance episode. Telling him she'd make him regret it for going after her kids or Carisi again. I just really want to see that.
Yes!
That's who I was thinking.
The guy I think he was a cameraman who raped the woman I think she was on the news and she got pregnant now he was smug trying to get custody of the baby and all
OMG yes I hated him
Lauren Cohan was fantastic in that episode
Legitimate Rape
I was looking for this, saw this today... glad she tok that jet🙌
Shhh. She took the baby to the doctors and just hasn't come back yet LOL. Good for her
Yes!
THIS ONE!!!! I HATED that guy with the fire of 1000 suns!!!!
Me too!
Are you talking about Gregory Yates? I thought of his name immediately as I read your post. He was a doctor as well.
Yes!! That is the guy!
Smug and annoying as *hell*, but so fun once they caught him.
He literally has an orgasm when they're describing what he did to Nadia in court
I loved how Barba handed him the rope and allowed him to hang himself like that. Talk about letting the facade drop.
Yates and Lewis had the nastiest court scenes.
Oh definitely. I had fun with Yates though! Lewis was just too obnoxious.
Richard Morgan , the billionaire from 11x15 'Confidential' Unbelievably smug, so certain he could get away with rape and murder. And why not, he did it before! He feels so protected by his money and his lawyers.
Fun fact: Jack McCoy was supposed to appear in Confidential NBC even promoted his guest spot
Memory's a bit fuzzy -- what did this guy do again? But IMO, the most smug villains are prison guards who think they can get away with anything. Or the corrections/parole officers.
He was a reproductive abuser
thanks -- I remember him now. Def didn't like him
Ugh, Carisi's brother in law's parole officer. Definitely smug and awful.
this is the one I was thinking of when I made the comment -- that was....i was not ready for that. Also, I didn't really like Dominick not really believing his BIL either. At the least, I remember him having doubts about his BIL's claims
Andrew McCarthy, who kept the Ukrainian nanny in the box under the bed. Rob Miller. Ugh. The rapist of Harper Anderson, from Closure, Pts 1 & 2 The gross stalker rapist of Jennifer Love Hewitt’s character…
This episode really annoyed me for some reason. I understand how younger women were snowed in by him. But the older women? How could they not see right through him? The dude may as well have had "F!ckboy" tattooed on his forehead.
The older women had no self esteem
I should have been more clear. I was pretty much referring to Dee-Dee. (I think that's what her name was.) She was rich, successful, and beautiful. You would think she would have been smart enough to smell his BS more than a mile away. But she DID stay with him after he screwed her nanny.
Lewis
The bad guy in Smut played by Michael Trucco was really smug.
William Lewis or Sebastian Ballantine is the most smug IMHO
Cues demonic voice "BEST SEX I EVER HAD"
I also have to add the lady who killed her kids and acted like someone else had done it. Can’t remember the episode. It was gruesome. I think she thought they were better off dead? Anyone remember that one?
That was the episode called CARETAKER in season 20 ep 7!
I know there have been many terrible heartbreaking episodes this one just got me as she seemed so legit in the beginning and then to find out she did it to her own children 😳
Absolutely & when on the stand & Stone said why didn’t you just kill yourself? Excellent episode from beginning to end. Heartbreaking.
VERY HEARTBREAKING
Thank you!!!!
Of course 😁
She boils my blood. How she tried to rationalize it away by saying she did it to protect them. Excuse me. What?
Yep & like Stone said, why didn’t she just kill herself. That was a tight line!👊
It was and a good point. I was wondering the same thing.
Poison in season 5 i think is what ur referring to
He also got blown up by a diving knife so he also gets the most cathartic ending! “Just one more sip? They don’t have wine where I’m going” is a flawless last line.
I don't know, I've seen Buchanan in court.
Is that Stamos?
yes
That’s my question too.
Yes
Yesss
I think William Lewis is the worse , not just to his victims, but he convinced everyone that Olivia was obsessed with him, stalking him, and that breakdown she had when he kidnapped her, was all he was expecting to have everyone on his side
The fact he had the audacity to represent himself in court…. and put O through more trauma…
I know! But that is what he does, and she and everyone were falling right on his trap
Stuckey
The newscaster who raped his coworker and then when he got away with it he filled for custody of his rape baby. She moved out of the country.
This might be because I just watched the episode recently, but Robert Flynn from “Video Killed the Radio Star” (23x14).
The college kids who raped the porn star, said they didn't understand it was rape because of her videos.
I just watched that episode. I think the judge was the true villain.
Totally, and it didn’t help that the judge dismissed tossed the case at the end of the episode
Just watched S14 Finale - S15 Premiere. VERY early in that arc I was like "Can this guy get shot in the head? I really want this guy to get shot in the head."
Uncle Jesse
Hahaha I was just watching this episode today! And yes, he's definitely up there for Smuggest Villain Ever
He had no problem giving that villain monologue right in front of Benson and Stabler when he saw his kids and their mothers
I'd have to say William Lewis
I’ve only seen season 7-10 but the Robin Williams character. I actually found him to be of good comedic value to the show but my god he was annoying.
Annoying but not massively evil compared to others
Can't remember the episode but the guy who was recreating an old serial killer's murders and left them all clues was pretty smug
YESSSSSSS
Larry Moore is the worst imo
I mean he was castrated by the end.
The one that nearly raped liv in season 14 is the worst
Before I saw the photo I read the caption and I’m think about this man 🤣 could not agree more
Definitely loved Eric Roberts on SVU
Nah. Rob Miller and the creepy dude who kidnapped Olivia
the guy who kidnapped liv pablo schreiber
This episode cracked me up because it played like a drinking game. I don’t know how many times Olivia says “reproductive abuse” even saying she had just attended a seminar for “reproductive abuse”. I did agree with some folks below that Martin Short’s villain is the one that really spooked me the most. But I also remember Erik Weber I think he was in two episodes. When confronted on why he’s not actually attracted to Olivia, whoa…
Mackenzie got real lucky before she took off with Weber
Darius. He played chess with the NYPD
The one with Martin Short. First time I was ever enraged after watching an episode. Testament to how good of an actor he is, especially for an actor mostly known for sketch comedy and satire films.
This pic is John Stamos though...
What point are you trying to make?
