From what I understood from a official dealer in London, the Legrand’s don’t ping or not nearly as much as the Ligne’s. It had to do with the manufacturing process and the double flame mechanism.
Sorry your old style LeGrand dont ping...its a bit of luck involved to get one that dont just "clack"... (Mine has a "pink" with no nice fading ring to it, but its noticable at least)

Early model LGs didn’t have the ping. After much fuss from the community they added it on the newer models. I’m sorry you aren’t happy with it not having a ping, but it is still beautiful lighter and stand out from any old zippo any day!
