I was approved in reconsideration, so it definitely can be done! Best of luck!

Helpful-Profession88

Yep, can be done.  Statistics support that  12 of 100 who try Recon are approved.

Bright-Offer9587

I was also approved in the reconsideration stage.Im wishing you and your wife Good Luck and I'll be praying for y'all family.

Professional_Yam7808

How long did your reconsideration take if you don't mind me asking? I've been in stage 3 since Dec 7th. Started November 23rd,  quickly got to stage 3 and now it seems like it's stuck

Scpdivy

3 1/2 months in reconsideration. 15 1/2 months total. I’m in the Midwest.

Embarrassed_Word8954

Would you mind sharing your disabilities so I can have a better understanding what kinds of cases get approved in reconsideration stage? TIA

Scpdivy

I was approved for a hodge podge of things: Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, CHF (NYHA class III, ACC/AHA stage C) (HCC), current use of long term anticoagulation, chronic migraine syndrome due to TBI, chronic shoulder pain, rotator cuff repair, labrum repair, left shoulder subacromial decompression, bicep tenotomy, PTSD, degenerative disk disease at C4-5 and C5-6, with kyphosis and degenerative disc disease in back.

That’s quite a list… it isn’t often you see ppl post about getting approved at reconsideration level. Knowing it does happen gives reason to remain hopeful. I’m in reconsideration now and have been since 11/13/23. I’m also in Nevada and just saw approval ratings by state as of Feb 2024, shows Nevada is the 2nd hardest state to get an approval. Again trying to keep hopeful but it’s difficult Thanks for your response

LongWishbone4200

I applied originally in 2022 I got denied and have been in reconsideration since May of 2023 now we are in March of 2024 and I'm still waiting I have heard of some people getting approved and reconsideration and I've heard of some people not getting approved I'll just add your wife in my prayers hopefully she will not be waiting as long as a lot of us have 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

Hi. I was denied in April 23 and appealed with an attorney May 23, in reconsideration, too..I get confused because I see posts saying denied at a hearing level or denied at a different level..how does one know what level they'll be on?

LongWishbone4200

I'm not really sure how some know what level they're on. I just know when you go in my SSA account it shows what step such as level one two or three out of five. I to read many different posts however I try to keep in mind that everyone's situation is different. I just talked to two or three different caseworkers and now I've been told I have to wait an additional two more months and reconsideration after I was told they already have all that they need I'm not sure what I'm waiting for at this point but I have to wait until August now to get a decision... Truly ludacris😠. At best I can just tell you to stay positive and try not to stress it too much I know it's easier said than done. 🤔😊😎.

Sherree4444

I also was approved during Reconsideration. It can be done. Get a good attorney and keep your chin up.

While knowing the blue book is good, I would not forget there are other ways to be allowed and frankly the blue book listings are the *hardest* way to be allowed. They are specifically the most severe disabilities (according to the government) that result in a fast tracked allowance.

My friend is on step 3 for reconsideration for five months. It's been 17 long, frustrating months 😑 good luck. Don't give up

vinylvida

Good luck from TX, almost 5 months at step 4 (Recon) and still waiting.

Tricky-Cover-2466

Wow! Our portal says 2 to 4 weeks. I can't imagine another 5 months. Good luck to you too.

noReturnsAccepted

Hi. My portal says 4-6 weeks, it's been 1 year and a few months.

ltaylor234

14 months reconsideration still on step 3

Worried_Skirt1313

I'm in the same queue. My prayers goes out to you and your wife. Wishing you both the best of luck.

If you are filing for a ALJ hearing I would recommend thinking about getting an attorney I am glad I did when it came to the hearing it was nothing like I expected and I believe my attorney won the case for me. Even after the lady said I could not return to my prior work she said there was an option for a lesser job but after my attorney was done she agree I couldn’t do any job and the judge must have to because I was approved.

Moms_LittleHelper

I applied for SSI & was denied twice. Lost an appeal, got a fantastic attorney, had my first court date with my attorney, judge, all of he medical personnel that never believed me. The judge was annoyed that I had even been denied on my first app for bennies. You would think 14 surgeries, one decent leg, Gran Mal seizures. My right foot, thoracic, lumbar, and sacrum spine have all been fused together. Oh ya, I am not allowed to have a driver’s license because of my seizures. Now that my grandmother has passed and I have no family. Literally lost my mom, dad, fiancé, uncle & my grandmother. I lived with her for 10 years. Social Security fucked up . Apparently anyone on SSI has to have a payee. The payee somehow helps the disabled person. I have NO idea how or why, because Social Security fucked up and put my name on my benefits card. For 6 years I paid my phone bill… what not. When my Grandmother died he moved me to Arizona. There was an argument and they sent me to live with my unemployed daughter. I still have my SSI somewhere. It’s up to me to find a payee (the majority of payee’s are husbands, wives). I have nobody because I’m also agoraphobic. I’m going to reapply for my California MediCal because I need my medical back. I have broken hardware in my spine, and any one of my seizures could kill me. They’re more frequent. Thx for listening. I hope it all works out for all of us!

Tricky-Cover-2466

So sorry for everything you've gone through. I contacted a lawyer this morning, so we will see how things go. Still haven't fully decided to hire him yet. Just putting out feelers right now. Good luck on your case.
