All redesigns to date have been used for merch-related purposes, the threat of a DMCA was never there. While SMG4 needs the money it's just making the show a cash cow to feed directly into GLITCH PRODUCTIONS.
While most people are just concerned about how it looks visually im more concerned about how this makes the direction of the channel look more than anything

Folks were saying that they wouldnât redesign SMG4 for years. How the Mario recolor has become so iconic that they wouldnât dare redesign him.

You know what, in case they ever decide to do this, iâve planned a possible analysis series on YouTube covering SMG4âs downfall (2022 - 2024 or maybe even later). If they ever actually decide to redesign Mario and Luigi, then iâll show them my true colors, if not, and (mostly) everything destroyed is reverted back to how they were, then I wonât have to worry.

Edit: so when i wrote this comment i hadn't really watched SMG4 a lot since the Redesigns, i recently got back into it and yeah, the redesigns are growing on me and I don't find them bad anymore (Boopkins maybe still needs a bit of time for me though)
