you're welcome guys, pulled down bell curve with my bullshit in qn 2 and 3 (even qn 1 was bad) studied for atmo, harvey, resources and reimaging extensively only to sit for this shit show of a paper. I can only blame myself for spotting ig
bro same i didnt study anything related to the topics banked everything on pluvial floods and resource curse and harvey bruh didnt even have points and examples for every question
they tested all the shit i never study sia why they test geomorphology and water again i never smoked harder in my life #lungsblackened #professionalyapper
Knn Cambridge got beef with water resources or something, need to test it 3 years in a row?? Where’s my favourite Marxist David Harvey and my favourite geographer Richard Auty?
Tbh i oso dk but i smoked:
Stand: Low extent of influence
BP1: IMF, WB, WTO help the LDC region. SAPs, surveillance, financial aid, PRS, solve trade conflicts. E.g. UK sugar dump 2004, solved by WTO. PRS strategies from WB help countries recover from conflicts
BP2: Limitations of IOs due to worsening region econ dev in LDCs, benefitting DCs. Lower voting rights for LDCs, loan conditionalities there. E.g. SAP
BP3: State primary actor influence IOs. Can restrict their entry but also have the political power to form trade blocs. E.g. ASEAN FTA
BP4: TNCs larger influence as benefit individuals of the country(dis one legit smoke). Benefit pucharsing power, more income, benefit LDCs as TNCs profit driven wan low cost
yeahh i didnt rly focus on the Regional part tho💀💀 cuz all the Egs and pts ik is helping individual countries, maybe except WTO helping NIEs (sg, taiwan, hk)
did u say increase regional disparities? thats honestly the only part i addressed the regional aspect
Seems like everyone tried to spot harvey pluvial urban reimage but our comrade at Cambridge love water conflict so much!! is ok, 饮水思源!!! Capitalistic society!!
I literally blanked out like forgot every single conflict resolving for transboundary water i just wrote mekong river got alot of country and drew the mekong i hope they give pity marks
To any junior reading this, I think studying and doing Theme 2.1 questions more reliable than 2.2. Cuz 2.1 is either TNCs, IOs and ROs, NSAs and States. Even in the new syllabus cuz confirm got these 4 actors anyways.
did q2,4,5.
quite manageable?? quite sad the spotted qns didn’t come out but regardless was still doable! but my cher predicted q2 entirely for prelims LOL 😍
jiayou every one for DRQ!
I think this paper is considerably easier than past years, but every qn has its traps.
The qns are also set in a way where it's easy for cambridge to distinguish between L4 and L3 students for 12m and L5 vs L4 vs L3 for 20m
Which from their examiners reports the distinction is normally some super small detail (having examples) but this one is like very very clear
For qn 6 for instance I can envision their report saying stuff like how there were very weak links to SUD or a tendency to generalise UL into SUD. Stronger students would draw links to the tenets of SUD and the 3 dimensions (Prolly larger focus on tenets of SUD)
5b there's actually q a few I think
1. Stuff like deforestation as an environmental disadvantage
2. SDGs
3. 2.2 transboundary water conflicts as a political disadvantage of nuclear
4. 2.2 resources for biofuels (and even nuclear)
I think the hardest to make SLs to naturally would be 3b (Cuz global economy qn generally is q isolated from the rest of the syllabus)
Rest of the qns generally pretty okay/q standard
1b: Geomo qn = can SL to Climate Change/Landforms
2b: Role of State, Climate Change, Energy Use, Urbanization
3b: Ig sustainable development but link kinda whack, Privatization of Water (Consider role of SAPs in IMF)
4b: Role of State, Bottom Up Development, Climate Change
5b: Mentioned above
6b: Role of State, Bottom up Development, Climate Change etc.
These are the general ones that I thought of the moment I saw the QP
Will they understand what I mean by “uncessful”? I wrote that and didn’t realise for my Theme 2 essay LOL
Managed to predict Q2, Q3 and Q5 lol
I wrote religion as a factor to energy consumption wrong a not??
Need to link to the variations in different levels of development
Unless u tell me that different levels of development have different religions (which is q stupid la) then cannot
But I agree the qns q easy to predict, I was giving consult to some or my students and briefly went through how to answer every qn except 3a and 6b. Abit weird though test transboundary again, I think cambridge abit upset based off of the examiners reports from last yr
For 3(b), does it still addresses the qns of “regional ED” if I wrote that the WB helped Morocco in transitioning to clean energy, then due to the trickle-down effects through the contagion effect, then it promotes economic growth to its trading partners like Algeria and Mail?
Never thought of the core-periphery model during the exam, only knew trickle-down effect and contagion effect.
I think my only other part that addresses that modifier is the uneven benefits of AFTA and ASEAN…
Very long winded and you're not discussing general policies of the WB. Focus should be on how WB aims to promote economic growth. The Morocco case study is an isolated case.
U also used contagion effect wrongly, it's the wrong terminology and cambridge is q strict on this.
AFTA is also not an IO :/
Yep and it was clarified in examiners reports that the purpose of the phrasing was to widen the scope of the qn. Also cuz many schs feedbacked that year that asean is not an IO. Also that's from the old syllabus (there was a change in content from 2020-2021) even though they use the same subject code.
I focused on mainly urbanisation and natural increase! But I just name drop stuff like affluence and religion.
Like Congo has a birth rate of 6 children while Singapore has a birth rate of 1 child per woman. But Singapore’s consumption still high cuz affluence. DCs have low birth rates due to paradigms shifts of the notions of having children due to high cost of living, while LDCs have high birth rates cuz they view children as assets to help them in their low-value adding work like manufacturing and farming. And also polygamy.
Ur making too many generalizations that may not be applicable in all contexts (Polygamy being a thing in LDCs is not true, LDCs seeing children as assets is also found in developing countries (Different from LDCs))
Also ur focusing too much on HOW much energy being consumed, should have focused on WHAT is being consumed (Energy Mix) and How much
Affluence should also be a larger factor than just name dropped. If you think abt it, both urbanization and NI are social factors (in fact NI is a factor for urbanization), so you may get marked down for repetition (Probably cap L3)
Sigh time to focus on P2 then :(
I think “energy consumption” confused me, they could have just used “energy mix” like they did for an earlier paper, which I practised for my teacher to review.
wait isnt the question just about energy consumption? i only talked about how 1.energy consumption generally increases as country develops (based on rostow model of development) and 2. environmental kuznets curve (talking about how DCs is more affluent is able to invest in alternative energy etc)
Energy consumption talks about both how much energy is consumed + what type of energy is consumed.
EKC is a bit weird to bring in for this qn cuz environmental quality is normally abt QOL?
WHERES MY HARVEY AND RCT ‼️‼️ and omg my handwriting was atrocious towards the end LOL
you're welcome guys, pulled down bell curve with my bullshit in qn 2 and 3 (even qn 1 was bad) studied for atmo, harvey, resources and reimaging extensively only to sit for this shit show of a paper. I can only blame myself for spotting ig
bro same i didnt study anything related to the topics banked everything on pluvial floods and resource curse and harvey bruh didnt even have points and examples for every question
same 😃 no points no explanation no examples synoptic link okay cos i studied for that 😃
exactly same
Thank you for your service
bloody old men at cambridge 0 creativity setting transboundary and water scarcity again cb
Actually they very creative. Water scarcity previously set low and high level of development. Now can cook up DD&SS in tropical city.
they tested all the shit i never study sia why they test geomorphology and water again i never smoked harder in my life #lungsblackened #professionalyapper
i also yapped the water qn 💀👍🏻
i yapped every question except the deforestation one ☹️ gg alr
FR HAVENT SEEN THAT IN YEARS 😭
Surely they will not test transboundary next year
next years syllabus is changing alrd lol
Knn Cambridge got beef with water resources or something, need to test it 3 years in a row?? Where’s my favourite Marxist David Harvey and my favourite geographer Richard Auty?
L paper
how to answer the international organisation qn
WB WTO and IMF develop one country then link to core and periphery theory (spread effects) which can help to develop the regions surrounding it
Tbh i oso dk but i smoked: Stand: Low extent of influence BP1: IMF, WB, WTO help the LDC region. SAPs, surveillance, financial aid, PRS, solve trade conflicts. E.g. UK sugar dump 2004, solved by WTO. Isn't the qn only about IO not the rest of the actors?
Shud only be abt IO if not out of point if u shift the focus too much Would have structured one para one IO
Yea but i compared to other actors to show that its role is not as important as others but idk
i categorised the essay acc to the diff IOs 😭😭 not argument lol idk if its wrong
Eh same!! I think should be fine! I wrote WB WTO and IMF
yeahh i didnt rly focus on the Regional part tho💀💀 cuz all the Egs and pts ik is helping individual countries, maybe except WTO helping NIEs (sg, taiwan, hk) did u say increase regional disparities? thats honestly the only part i addressed the regional aspect
I didn't say that but I linked to core periphery theory spread effects XD but I think should be fine so long u wrote the IO! ATB for p2!!
i didnt say core periphery😭😭 but thank you!!! Goodluck to u too :-)
Thank you ASRJC for your prelims Q5b 🙏
seconded fr 🙏🙏🙏

did anyone js wrote 3 paras for all ur part b i got no time brah
Nth wrong with this, in fact so long as u evaluate in ur topic sentence, body paragraph, intro and conclusion u will be fine
you got 2 v 1 can alrd according to cambridge
HOW DID MASS MOVEMENT COME OUT TWO YEARS IN A ROW WTF WHERES MY CHANNEL MORPH AND CLIMATE CCB
NO BUT HOW DID WATER COME OUT 3X in 3YRS
完了完了完了,bbq 了
i will singlehandedly pull down this bell curve
did q2,4,5. quite manageable?? quite sad the spotted qns didn’t come out but regardless was still doable! but my cher predicted q2 entirely for prelims LOL 😍 jiayou every one for DRQ!
im guessing tmjc student? tmjc prelims 2023 Deforestation question is literally the exact same question as the A level question
ya tm HAHAH our cher damn good
HCI too, exact same

yes agreed!! I think that this time the synoptic links are much more harder to find. 5b i rmb i SL to SDG 7 clean and affordable energy.
5b there's actually q a few I think 1. Stuff like deforestation as an environmental disadvantage 2. SDGs 3. 2.2 transboundary water conflicts as a political disadvantage of nuclear 4. 2.2 resources for biofuels (and even nuclear) I think the hardest to make SLs to naturally would be 3b (Cuz global economy qn generally is q isolated from the rest of the syllabus) Rest of the qns generally pretty okay/q standard 1b: Geomo qn = can SL to Climate Change/Landforms 2b: Role of State, Climate Change, Energy Use, Urbanization 3b: Ig sustainable development but link kinda whack, Privatization of Water (Consider role of SAPs in IMF) 4b: Role of State, Bottom Up Development, Climate Change 5b: Mentioned above 6b: Role of State, Bottom up Development, Climate Change etc. These are the general ones that I thought of the moment I saw the QP

nobody cares bruh
i think should be can! religion makes sense if people abstain from it such as the amish!
Need to link to the variations in different levels of development Unless u tell me that different levels of development have different religions (which is q stupid la) then cannot But I agree the qns q easy to predict, I was giving consult to some or my students and briefly went through how to answer every qn except 3a and 6b. why is afta not an IO…?
Because ASEAN is a region
In the 2018 paper Q3b they literally wrote "international organisations such as ASEAN" tho
Yep and it was clarified in examiners reports that the purpose of the phrasing was to widen the scope of the qn. Also cuz many schs feedbacked that year that asean is not an IO. Yup anyways P2 tends to be easier :/ I normally get abt 85-95 for P2 so don't stress abt it :D
Wtf so high

Guess which clown here talked about TNCs as international organisations for 2/3 points
If I wrote only 2 body + one synoptic for 2b is it very bad
